Things are starting to get serious for Scarlett Arman as she helps Charlemagne turn over a new leaf and reconciles with her half-brother, Isar. Now, the only thing on the reformed villainess’ mind is petty revenge on her father, the Duke.
But darker forces have other plans for the would-be heroine, and after failing to sacrifice Isar to the demon god, they set their sights on her! Things become especially complicated with the transmigrator being flung into yet another story within a story, locked in a never-ending loop as a new character with an unnervingly similar story to Scarlett’s original timeline.
What secrets will be revealed as Scarlett traverses this new fictional world? And can Charlemagne and Isar rescue her from the dark mages who hold her in their clutches? All will be revealed in the second volume of Ten Ways to Get Dumped by a Tyrant!
The first one was really amusing, but this one is hard to read
The first book had really funny characters, and really seem to be interesting and engaging… Loved it. So I am mediately bought the second one, sadly this one has like this weird cursed book thing going on and it’s hard to read and it’s hard to tell what’s going on and it’s hard to tell where things are going. It’s very confusing. And not nearly as much fun. Kind of a drag really I don’t think I’m gonna read the third one if there is one
Leider dauerte es dieses Mal etwas länger, bis wir den zweiten Band der Light Novel-Reihe „Ten Ways to Get Dumped by a Tyrant“ lesen beenden konnten.
*gg*
Today's post is on Ten Ways to Get Dumped by a Tyrant: Volume II by Gwijo Seo. It is 298 pages long and is published by Editio Publishing. The cover has Charlemagne on it looking very imperial. As it is the second volume in the series, you need to have read the first one to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes fantasy stories. The story is mostly told from first person of Scarlett with some scenes from a different character's perspective for plot. There is no mild foul language, no sex, and mild action violence in this novel. There Be Spoilers Ahead. From the back of the book- Things are starting to get serious for Scarlett Arman as she helps Charlemagne turn over a new leaf and reconciles with her half-brother, Isar.
Review- Scarlett is up to her elbows in trouble in this volume. The villains' now think that she is a problem, she is not dead, Charlemagne acting different, and nothing is going as planned. So they decide to curse her and send her into a book. But of course nothing goes as planned for the bad guys and Scarlett uses her brains to start working the system again. This series is pretty funny and over the top with plot and the twists but I'm having a lot of fun. I look forward to seeing where Scarlett is going next and what trouble she'll cause there.
I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I borrowed this novel from my local library.
This book is always funny and very interesting I love the characters always a joy to read about. The characters are still very entertaining I love Scarlett most of all I also love Charlemagne so much he is often misunderstood the characters around both of them are amazing as well. I love how Scarlett gets revenge on the terrible Duke it is so funny what she does to him. I also love how her relationship with her brother Isar has been repaired. I love how she tries to get Charlemagne to dump her but it never works it just makes him like her more. The story is interesting the first part talks about Scarlett wanting to leave and make money she gets into shenanigans some other terrible things happen there is much intriguing things going on it is also very hysterical loved it so much looking forward to reading more.
Ugh. I usually really like transmigration novels -- I really enjoy the character struggle when it comes to the protagonist having to decide whether they'll let what they know of the story rule their life or whether they'll take charge themselves -- but I really don't like transmigration within transmigration. I feel like the only time I've liked that, it's been Fox Demon Cultivation Novel, and that BARELY got a pass since it was layered into time travel instead of actual transmigration.
This volume fell super flat for me, and I wish the transmigration-ception plot would have finished before the volume ended. I don't know how the original novel is split up, but the translator chose an odd time to end this particular book where they did.
I loved the first one, it was so funny. I immediately bought the second one. Unfortunately, this one wasn't nearly as good. The subplot of the other book in the second half of the book was boring and felt pointless, I was very annoyed, I probably could have skipped most of those pages and not miss much.
I have books 3 and 4 because it's a really short series, so I hope that they redeem this series because I am very disappointed after really enjoying vol. 1 so much. I might change my rating to 2.5 stars later.
I usually only review the first book in a series, but vol 2 really has m scratching my head. To avoid spoilers, lets just say I am very surprised by several of the creative choices in this volume. I do still live the characters and I also still want answers to some of the questions , so I'm still onboard for volume three. Just be forewarned, those of you who read this, volume 2 contains a sharp left turn about halfway through.
Why?! This story was perfect and funny, but then ANOTHER story in the story happened… I got confused and then i lost interest. Till the open end it became like eeeevery other isekai light novel and i was very disappointed. Why would someone destroy this amazing buildup??? If it wouldve been 1-2 chapters okay, but not for the rest of the book:(
Ahhh I'm obsessed/in love with this series and I cannot wait to see what happens next!! Scarlet is 👑😇😈🔥😍 and is constantly keeping everyone on their toes. I love her relationship with her brother and the fairies are adorable. I am all for the CharScar romance to commence in full. All is fair in love and war.
partway through the book the story goes into transmigrationception and idk how i feel about it tbh! self-sacrificing healer is a less inherently funny concept than girl tryna get herself dumped in any possible way. we will permit the effort tho!
(once again, good job on the cover, astounding comprehension of the appeal of a silver-haired pretty boy)
When I first started reading this book, I was trying my best to keep at it, then about 40% into the book, it got so much better. Kind of ended with a cliff hanger and seemed a little rushed but I still like the characters and the humor in this book 👍.
Fun and weird but also a good fantasy story, though some of the phrasing and ways things were translated are odd and they really could have used another pass with an editor.
This book was fun, but I liked the first one better.
The female lead, Scarlett, has basically given up on the plan to have the tyrant, Charlemagne, dump her. So, she changed her plan to befriend him, so when he does fall in love with the OG female lead, he will let her go without killing her. Meanwhile, Charlemagne has admitted to himself that he is in love with Scarlett, and won't dump her or let her dump him. So, he's doing everything in his power to not make that happen.
I had a lot of favorite parts. Spoilers ahead. 1. Charlemagne is touched that Scarlett was worried that the blood was his and she didn't run away. 2. Scarlett practiced making ugly animal faces to show Charlemage. The point was to make him disgusted, but he was quiet because he wanted to laugh so hard. 3. When they go shopping, she explains a book, hoping that he would be considerate to the OG female lead. However, he takes it as that is her ideal man, so tries to become it. 4. When Charlemagne tries to protect her from the magic book. 5. Even when Charlemagne is in the other book, he still thinks Scarlett is beautiful and falls in love with her. 6. Nothing is going according to the wizards' plans.
I can't wait for the third volume! I hope they get out of the other book soon. I don't want a very large portion of the story to be based on that.
Throughout the book, was the font different? It seemed like it and it was distracting. Some of the formatting seemed weird. Some of the beginning paragraphs needed to be indented, but weren't.
