Wow

This book was amazing for several reasons. Firstly, the sensitivity and compassion for 9/11 was astounding. The way Radclyffe retold that eventful day tore at my heart in memory of all those innocent victims. Also the emotions and shock you could feel in her writing was true heart rendering. I'm still amazed at how well she put it together.

The book was full of action, heart break, sadness and the worst being betrayal. The strength of all involved was astounding.

The book is excellent. Radclyffe entwined true life with fiction exceptionally well. You could read this as a one off but I personally wouldn't advise it. Read from book one. The background to these characters are essential when understanding their commitment. Great book.

9/11 is one of those times in your life that you remember exactly what you were doing and where you were. Terrorism in the UK isn't unheard of and I grew up with it. So my heart go's out to all the victims and survivors. Also their families and friends. Also lets not forget the emergency services who put their lives on the line daily. Thank you Radclyffe for an excellent book.

This holiday binge reading of the series is great - but I dreamt of them last night.... perhaps too much. This one is slower, leading up to 9/11. Well crafted, making me cry - an emotional hard read. Love it!

This series is character and relationship driven and the plot is just a background, so I will not take away points for that. And as cheese as the loving couples were, I remember a time in my relationship when "I love you!" felt like the only thing that mattered and if I didn't say it every minute, I would have bursted from passion... That is a blissful time and is better the longer it lasts. So I can understand the cheesiness. I just had no idea it is so annoying from the outside and in a book. But I also know how hard it is to keep a reader interested in a couple who is settled in their love and there is no newness of discovery or intensity of new sex, keeping the audience riveted... So, given all that, I think Radclyffe has done a darn good job at sizzling and making us come back for more ;-)

I have been enjoying the honor series. There are flaws, to be sure. The romance is dramatic and overwritten (as is typical of Radclyffe). The action is slower than it should be. Each book seems to focus on one dangerous event, and the build up is always more drawn out than it should be. The conflict is also rarely resolved until the next book, even after all the build up. But despite that, the series is engaging enough to be entertaining.

I really had a problem with this one, though. If you're going to write about 9/11, it needs to be done with great care, in my opinion. And using a real event to fit into an alternate universe, an alternate universe where you change who the president is during an attack, is not the way to go. Adding American co-conspirators to that attack in order to advance a fictional plot is completely disrespectful of what the country went through on that day.

Maybe the issue is time. I can read a fictional story that takes place during WWII and not be bothered much by the writer taking liberties. But it's been less than 2 decades since 9/11. When this was written, I don't think it had even been five years. We're still healing.

This is the fourth (and so far, best) of the Honor series. I have all these books but it's been so long since I've read them they're practically new again. I especially enjoyed the development of the relationship between agents Paula Stark and Renee Savard. What really struck me is that even 19 years later, at the point in the book when terrorists flew into New York City's Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, I got the chills. The way Rad wrote how that unfolded by date and time - each strike, each report - it was like it was happening all over again and I couldn't help but be affected by it. I remember where I was that day and had just moved back to Texas from New York City just a few years before so it really hit home. Hats off to Rad for how she handled such difficult subject matter. Abby Craden's work is terrific on this series as she not only had to maneuver through that terrifying and emotional experience, but also two swoon-worthy romances. Really great stuff.

This is a truly wonderful story focusing on the events and likely situations that very well may have occurred leading up to, during, and following the shattering happenings on September 11, 2001. The national and global implications blast across the pages while two love affairs act like bookends to comprise and reflect these shocking days. The larger-than-life women caught within this staggering turmoil drew me into their hearts and concerns. I do believe the impact I experienced was larger after having completed the first three volumes of this series, but I feel that if this is the only book within the collection you read, I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed. Sensationally stupefying!

The primary pair that meets in the first monograph grows closer and more intimate within this fourth presentation. Blair Allison Powell is the daughter and only child of the president of the Unites States. Cameron Roberts, Cam, is Blair's chief secret service security officer. The necessary elaborate structures that encompass defending such a significant individual like Blair are not only eye-opening, but spectacularly engaging. Interestingly by the time this book unfolds, Blair has acquired a greater appreciation for the team that oversees her ongoing safety as she accepts the single-minded focus of her lover and associates. Apart from the high tension and escalating levels needed to keep such a noticeable person safe, there is a delightfully amusing interplay between Blair and her exceptional protectors. As the chief of this crew and Blair's stunningly beautiful lover, Cam is unquestionably electrifying. This couple just blows me away again and again!

A fascinating complementary and new twosome is highlighted in this narration. The recently appointed lead secret service agent, Paula Stark, and a recuperating FBI operative, Renee Savard, sense a rapidly ripening fondness and steamy undercurrent as both women feel their growing closeness and physical affinity in a manner relatively new to both of them. This blossoming relationship is a magnificent counterpoint to Blair and Cam and a refreshingly original duo. Renee is singularly focused on not only making the grade and then some, but moving upward within the predominantly male FBI. Paula is singularly focused on having her chief, Cam, recognize and reward her efforts in addition to also moving up the ranks. When these two finally click, both revealing an escalating passion, they simply light up the skies. Their nascent affiliation in differentiation to Blair and Cam's solidifying liaison definitely added a fabulous dimension. Indisputably dynamic duos!

Impressive storytelling along with the phenomenal actual events from the 9/11 disaster made this an outstandingly well-balanced saga. I wholeheartedly recommend it. What a treat that I still have four more books before completing this collection. Incredibly inspirational!

Cam and Blair’s relationship is revealed to the word when a reporter release the story ahead of schedule. Their is an attack on Blair the same time that the planes crash into the twin towers. No one can be trusted when it turns out that one of the Secret Service members had been working for the other side the whole time. Both Paula and Renée are in misery over not knowing what is happening with their lover. Duty and honor come first. Paula must help secure Blair’s safety and Renée must help with the rescue at the Twin Towers. Very sad times. I love the courage and honor all of the characters in this series posses.

I feel Radclyffe handled this story line with care. It brought back difficult emotions, but it was a well done in my opinion. Abby Craden was wonderful as always. The story keeps you riveted and I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Enjoyable series. Intrigue, mystery, suspense, 9/11 tragedy, new love, humor, and much sensuality. The premise is interesting, unbelievable yet intriguing enough to keep me interested.

i need to preface this review by saying that this will contain spoilers but i am not putting a spoiler warning on my review because the spoilers mentioned i think people need to see because going in blind to this book really fucked me up.

so here we go i guess:

my biggest issue with this big is the fact that there’s a certain something that i think should be mentioned in the preface of the book along with the 9/11 warning that just isn’t mentioned at all. this book has a rather large breast cancer scare as one of the main plot points and this story arc takes up a large chunk of the book. now i understand that this book was published a while ago when people weren’t really as big on content warnings etc. or putting resources at the front of books, but i think for something such as breast cancer (which the main character is an advocate for its awareness and improving the treatment of) needs to be mentioned especially since it’s not even hinted at in the blurb of the book! or even at the end of the book it would have been nice to include some resources etc. for breast cancer since this is one of the books main plots.

however, i also think the way that the breast cancer was included was totally out of pocket and was not done in the right way at all. this book had enough intrigue with the political plot that was going on and therefore didn’t need the breast cancer storyline involved. to me, it seemed to be used as a tool for drama and shock value, rather than a true, solid plot point which not only develops cam and blair’s relationship but also raises breast cancer awareness.

now, let’s go back to the political plot, which, in my opinion, was not fleshed out enough at all. the political plot IS the main plot of the book, it’s what’s mentioned in the blurb, it’s how the story starts, it’s there in the middle, it’s how the book finishes. however, the political plot is half-baked and doesn’t really make a lot of sense in the grand scheme of things. understandably, the author is trying to use these short snippets and paragraphs of information to keep the mystery and intrigue going but there’s not enough information at all. even at the end of the book things are just sort of chucked into the pan, scrambled together, and then thrown onto the page in the hopes that everything sort of falls together.

the one thing that the author did right was that in regard to the 9/11 plot, she doesn’t really go into much detail or try and mess with that stuff, so if you’re worried that the author is going to do it an injustice, she doesn’t. it’s not really there, it’s more sort of background noise to the whole “political” plot. the most that happens is that one of the characters is in one of the towers when they collapse but i’ll leave whether or not they survive a secret.

again, if you saw my review for the previous book in this series you’ll see that i mentioned the fact that cam and blair like to have sex a lot. this book is the exact same, in fact there’s a chance it might be worse. i get it, sex sells, but at this point, the plot and sanctity of these books is being sacrificed for sex scenes where blair/cameron says “oh god you can’t do things like that and leave me waiting” and then blair/cameron gives the other a quick orgasm before we change scenes to, guess what? ANOTHER sex scene, however this time we’re changing pace because at least it’s between two different characters. i felt like i was in a sex sandwich. the entire novel goes sex, “we need to hold a security briefing”, random 5 sentences hinting about some “plot”, sex. in a novel like this one, i feel like the most we need to see blair and cameron have sex is 3 times, once at the beginning, once in the middle maybe, and then at the end. there’s no need for it to be every other chapter. because then at what point do these books go from being thriller to being erotica with a side of thriller.

i think that the sex scenes also take away from the plot and are a significant reason as to why the plot isn’t fully fleshed out. i think if we removed the sex scenes from the book and added more depth and layers to the mystery and intrigue surrounding the plot to assassinate blair, the book would have been 10x better and would have been probably one of the best in the series. however, instead, the book just totally falls short and misses the mark.

the book itself was not a bad book, it is enjoyable and it does slot nicely into the series, however i’m struggling at this point to see how i’m getting 6 more books out of this because i’m already losing the will to live.

so after the shit storm that was this book, i’m taking a break from this series for at least a couple of books, just to calm my mind down and reset because that breast cancer storyline made me an anxious mess and i need to take my mind off of things for a while. i’m really really hoping and praying that book 5 sorts this series out because otherwise i might have to leave the series half finished and i hate to do that to a series.

as much as i love this series, this book wasn’t my favourite. i will say the way the author tied in 9/11 given it was a relevant event when the book came out was super intriguing and done really well. however the love plot lines felt a little predictable and repetitive…..still a fun read tho!

I liked the way this story was set out, it made it a page turner during the action parts. There is a warning at the front stating it deals with 9/11. As usual in a Radclyffe novel, the characters take every opportunity to be intimate or gush about how much they love each other. It does get a bit too much at times and it sometimes interrupts the story IMO, but that is not to say the story is not good. I read this in one sitting after all. I think some of the secret service agents tend to blend into each other a little, but I am not sure if that is a fault of characterisation or intended, as agents are essentially supposed to be invisible. It must be difficult to write a character who is designed to blend in and not be noticed while still making them a fully rounded person to the reader. The action was fast paced and well written, it is clear the author has worked to make it realistic, with the exception of one thing that jumped out at me. Several people flew backwards or into things when shot with service weapons. It sounds dramatic, but in reality people tend to simply crumple to the ground. Overall I enjoyed the ride this book took me on and I will probably get on for more.

The Honor series is probably my favourite Radclyffe series, although I do love the Justice series also. Haven't read them for a while. Usually, when a new part appeared, I started from the beginning. Now, with two new unread books, I'll start with #4. I realized I've missed Blair and Stark very much!!
And they're are just as great as I remembered!!!

Such a difficult book. Mixing fiction with an event as horrific and touchy as 9/11 is ballsy as hell. Radclyffe does pull it off. The horror of those days tranpires out of the pages, the chaos, the disbelief, the pain. But the subject is way too close to reality here for me to appreciate the fiction.

It has been a big gap-year since I last read the previous books so now, things make partial sense. I keep thinking of other books due to the slight similarity.

I need more action, more thriller theme in the book series. The love between Cam and Blair is rather interesting... very intense.

Stunning, emotional work of literature

“What am I, really? Not as trusting as I used to be, if I ever really was. When did I stop believing in someone like you? When did I stop dreaming?”

“What📍 “Every minute of every day, Cam lived with the knowledge that someone, somewhere, might try to harm the woman she loved for reasons that would be unfathomable to any sane individual.”

…Can't fathom the words that can even begin to explain my emotions & feelings… Just speechless…
An action-packed, entertaining story with interesting characters & riveting, plot lines. I swear, this series got better every book— especially considering how high the bar was set with the first one!! The shock & soul-shattering surrealism of the 9/11 attacks left me feeling totally stunned & broken an unresolved limbo of uncertainty!!!

…Another awesome, entertaining story
with captivating characters. Very very very enjoyable to read.

Just wonderfully written, wonderfully developed, wonderfully told, wonderfully enjoyed.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had the previous books in the series, and it's hard for me to get through this one. I think the issue is, as many have said, related to the 9/11 subplot. I don't have any emotional attachments to the event itself. To me, Radclyffe is a talented romance author, whose writing includes elements of suspence and mystery. Branching off into action/conspiracy/thriller genres, it just wasn't executed well with the developing romantic relationships. I guess if I'm honest, as time goes by with the characters, they remain very one dimensional, and most are very similar in their POV. The spicy scenes have become repetitive and, like I said, don't mix well with the action plot being built. Not sure if I'll continue with the series, but the books up until this one, I'd recommend. Abby Craden is an amazing narrator, those who know, know. But with this book-the voices feel a bit off.

Fourth of the Honor series.

Assigned to protect her, an attractive Secret Service agent falls for the Presidents equally beautiful daughter. A deep conspiracy to overthrow the government keeps the agent and her detail busy protecting the woman she loves and the President from assassins. The main characters are rich, as are all the secondary characters. There are nine books, this is the fourth, and they are all filled with romance and action.

It’s a great series? Start from the beginning. All nine books are on Audible, the narrator, Abby Craden, is the best I’ve heard, she really brings the story alive. I got them using the Audible Romance subscription.

Thanks to Radclyffe, the author, for a great ride. Enjoy!

Intense. This book was everything that I thought it might be, when I starting reading. The frightening aspect of the documented timeline was ominous but so important to the storyline. I don't think I was ever so riveted to a novel as I was to this one, especially for the last 100 pages. I just could not put it down, period. I loved the added dimension of Paula and Renee, and the detail to which we were treated in their romance. I find myself more and more attached to Blair's character now, and of course Cam is just to die for, literally.

Talk about flashbacks! Once I realized what the story line of this book was going to be, my heart pounded, the anxiety and the dread of the horror of 9/11 was so real. I actually paused reading at times as the anxiety was too much, it's amazing how recalling such a dramatic time can trigger ones memories.

I was on pins and needles wondering about Savard... my heart was breaking for Stark. Now, really invested in reading this series through.

The very first half of the book was dull. It had more sex then action. I disliked how the author decided to portray 9/11 into the story; how terrorists broke in to kidnap and kill Blair. That had nothing to do with 9-11. It was very fictional and despicable in general. I enjoy reading Radclyffe’s stories in general but this specific one annoyed me. We should honor 9-11 and not make up a story to it. I understand how other readers feels now towards this topic. Sorry, but this story deserves a 3 star. Hopefully the next sequel is not repetitive and not as boring for the first half of the story otherwise I am giving up reading the remainder of the story. I am very disappointed, it’s become boring and more focused on sex.

I didn’t think that I would be able the read a story referencing the events of 9/11 when, after 17 years it’s still such a sensitive topic. I commend Radclyffe for handling this so well.
This installment of this series was beautiful. I love that we’re getting more of the relationship developing between Renee and Stark because that’s all I need in my life at the moment!

DNF Its just the same thing over and over again. Very predictable and the romance is hard to get through. I found myself skipping over all the scenes where Cam and Blair were together they don’t talk about anything they just have sex ! Then they act surprised when the other shows love to them it’s weird.

I liked the first book of the series a lot. I thought I found my favourite series of the year, but after the second already it felt pretty redundant and in this one I had to give up half ways. The protagonists remain shallow, the discussions are always very redundant. Though storywise this could be really really brilliant, I was very disappointed.
