I write spicy romance books that end in an HEA. Contemporary romance, historical romance, paranormal romance…I write it all. The two things my books all have in common is lots of emotion and spice. Last year, I fell in love with a new subgenre: mafia romance. Since I write what I love to read, I started a new standalone series, Syndicate Rules where you’ll meet over the top alpha heroes in the Italian and Greek mafias as well as the Irish mob. There are arranged marriages, forced marriages, enemies to lovers, stalkers, forced proximity and lots of mafia intrigue. Morally gray is my new favorite color.

I’ve been published a while and most of my 90+ books have hit the Nielson Bookscan bestseller list, a few ended up on the USA Today bestseller list and some even hit national bestseller lists in the UK and Australia. My books have been translated into numerous languages and are for sale in dozens of countries around the world. I’ve won awards and been published with most of the big houses in New York, but my greatest achievement is touching readers’ hearts. When I hear from a reader who got caught up in one of my books, I know I’m doing what I’m meant to do.

I love writing emotionally deep stories with snappy dialogue and solid plots. I’m more grateful than I’ll ever be able to express that so many readers have taken my stories into their hearts and put my books on their reread and keeper shelves.

Anthologies are always a bit of hit and miss. Fortunately this one is a hit. The three stories that make up Bodyguards in Bed have feisty heroines who go after what they want and who know how to deal with strong, sexy and stubborn alpha males who need to be persuaded to break their cardinal rule of never getting romantically involved with the person they are guarding.
In “Whose Been Sleeping In My Brother’s Bed?” by Lucy Monroe we meet Danusia Chernichenko and Maxwell Baker. This story connects to Ms Monroes other stories that feature the rest of the Cherinchenko clan, but it doesn’t rely on any prior knowledge.
Danusia has been the victim of a couple of break ins and the last one scared her, so instead of going home to mum and dad and having to explain things, she decides to go and stay at her brothers flat, knowing full well that he is out of the country. What she doesn’t know is that Maxwell Baker is staying there while his home gets finished.
It starts with a gun to the head, but Danusia copes quite well, being well versed in all of the secret undercover stuff that her siblings are involved in, but she doesn’t expect Maxwell to be on the other end of the gun. They have met previously and Danusia was attracted to him then, and this rather close encounter only deepens the attraction.
I enjoyed this story, but there wasn’t any real action on the part of any villains – it all happened out of story so to speak, so the focus was on the two main characters. Maxwell was the typical male, averse to a long term relationship, but his attraction to Danusia is rather overwhelming and he is sort of lost at sea in regards his deep attraction to her. Danusia on the other hand is a geek whose investigation of a companies statistics for her PhD, was what got her into trouble in the first place.
Both Danusia and Maxwell have issues that they need to overcome and though the story is short, it is well paced and keeps you interested in finding out what Maxwell will do in regards his feelings for Danusia and how she will cope with the danger that she is in.

The second story “Hot Mess” by Jamie Denton was both funny and a good example of how you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Alyssa Cardinelli and Noah Temple are as far apart as opposites can be. Alyssa forgets things, she has held down numerous jobs trying to find out what she wants to do and she comes across as a bit ditzy, but she really isn’t. Noah Temple is a fastidious, straight laced but oh so sexy and attractive FBI Agent who gets mistaken for a corporate whistleblower Charles Rolston. Alyssa is the general dogs body for Primo Security Services and she doesn’t want to lose her job there, so takes the role of guarding Noah quite seriously, despite the fact that she isn’t a bodyguard.
Noah goes along with Alyssa because they are being pursued by two guys with guns and he needs to stick by her to find out what happened to the whistleblower who disappeared en route to meeting Alyssa.
Alyssa comes from a family of women who, when they fall for a man, fall forever and they fall hard. It does take Noah a while to relax and go with the flow and it is certainly interesting to see how the laid back Alyssa and the uptight Noah mix together – a bit like oil and water, but if shaken together enough, you get a great mix. Is this what is going to happen to these two, or will the discovery that Noah is not the whistleblower and a real FBI agent put an end to their developing relationship?
I liked Alyssa and Noah and from reading got a really clear picture of both characters and their desires, and it was great to see Noah’s opinion of Alyssa change when he found out who she really was and when he didn’t define her by the numerous jobs she had. Noah learnt from Alyssa to also live in the moment a bit more than perhaps he had been doing. Can they work out their differences and find a way to be together?
The last story was the most exciting of the three. In “Acapulco Heat” by Elisabeth Naughton a model gets to show her body guard that she isn’t just a beautiful body. All three bodyguards in the stories grappled with the dilemma of having a relationship with the person they were guarding, but none more so than Finn Tierney – probably because he had been in the situation before and it had nearly cost him his job and the reputation of the company that he worked for. Lauren Kaufmann was going to have a fight on her hands to get Finn to act on his obvious desire for her. Add some drug bosses, a murder and a cursed diamond to the mix and you have a riveting story that kept me hooked and reading and wanting more.
Finn is frustrated by Lauren – sexually and also job wise because she doesn’t listen to him. Lauren on the other hand is frustrated by Finns lack of action and reaction to her and she definitely wants him to be more than just her body guard, but killers on their trail and a race through jungle to an extraction point may deny her what she so obviously desires.
Finn was the most dedicated of bodyguards, but can he get his head around the fact that Lauren isn’t like the other model who hurt him and his career? Is he willing to give up protecting others and just focus on protecting Lauren? Can they both survive long enough to even have a relationship? Lauren was more than just a vain model. She may not have been a trained anything, but when the situation got tough she tried her best to assist – even though it lost her her favourite pair of shoes, which Finn was going to have to replace if they ever get out of the hot jungle!
If you like hot and sexy alpha males who need some feminine persuasion and sultry, unafraid to go get it females who know how to twist men around their little fingers, then this book is for you!

Overall the anthology was a disappointment. It only seemed to be based on sex and suddenly all the reasons standing in the way of a HEA disappear after they say the three magic words, not at all believable.

Individually:
Acapulco Heat by Elisabeth Naughton
3 stars

Acapulco Heat by Elisabeth Naughton is a short novella about Lauren Kauffman(Peter's sister) who is a super-model. Finn is her bodyguard. The book is pretty short and fun. Lauren and Finn are attracted to each other but Finn messed up an assignment before so he is not acting on it. Lauren wants to so she makes a move, and then there are some guns as well. There are many sexy moments.

Who’s Been Sleeping in My Brother’s Bed? by Lucy Monroe
2 stars

Who’s Been Sleeping in My Brother’s Bed? is an average read filled with sex.
Danusia is the youngest sibling more intelligent than her intelligent siblings, she comes to stay at her brother's place and finds Max, who she has been attracted to, so she decides to get some hot sex.

Hot Mess by Jamie Denton
1 star

Hot Mess by Jamie Denton was a mess. Career changing heroine mistakes the hero for her assignment, FBI hero plays along because of orders, they get down and dirty, she freaks when she finds out. And oh they have unprotected sex the day they meet. In the end hero comes knocking few months later to ask if she is preggers and there is a HEA which I totally didn't believe.

The three novellas, while not completely belivable are entertaining. If you want a quick, sexy read - or 3 - then this is novel is for you. The three stories are fast paced, most taking place over a few days. The only complaint I have is how they "fell in love" in less than one hundred pages. But isn't that every girls dream? To be swept off their feet by some sexy savior? To me the first two stories didn't have bodyguards in the typical sense. They have characters that are tough and develop into their bodyguard roles where as in the last novella, readers known from the beginning that Finn and his partner were hired to protect Lauren. Because a synopsis isnt provided on the back of the book, here they are (with a little bit of my opinion thrown in ofcourse):

Who's Been Sleeping In My Brother's Bed?

After her apartment is broken into, Danusia decides to stay at her brother's home while he is out of the country. But life is full of surprises for the youngest memeber of the Chernichenko family. Already occupying her brother's home is his sexy, undercover op coworker, Maxwell. No matter how many times Max tells himself hooking up with his boss's little sister is a bad idea, he can't resist her efforts to get him into bed. And Max soon learns that no only is he in over his head but so is Danusia when her Ph.D project lands her in a lot of trouble.

Hot Mess

This was my favorite out of the three. Alyssa was sent to pick up a client from the airport but by mistake she picks up FBI agent Noah Temple. And are chased out of the airport by a pair of goons. Together they must evade them while Noah works hard not to blow his new cover assigned to him moments before. I really liked Alyssa. She was fun and sassy and headstrong while Noah was more guarded and careful. But some how they made the perfect couple.

Acapulco Heat

Finn is assigned to watch over and protect sexy supermodel, Lauren. But watching her model bathing suits in the hot, tropical sun really wears away at his control. And Lauren picks up on that, teases him, and wants him probably just as bad as he wants her. To her the whole bodyguard thing sent by her overprotective brother is pointless. Or atleast she thinks that until she is targeted by a drug cartel. Together Lauren and Finn have to hide from the cartel while trying to survive on the run and then in the tropical forests of Mexico. This one was good too except for the ending. They run and run and are almost caught and run and then... nothing. done. the end.

Who's Been Sleeping In My Brother's Bed 1 star
I found both characters to be likable independently and the author tried to establish some chemistry between them but I just didn't feel it. Together, they were just boring to me, no excitement, no action. Actually the action happened off screen and was brushed off and swept under the rug as if it wasn't even a big deal. It wrapped up too neatly and seemed like an easy ploy to get her to stay with him at his place so they could have all this time we don't see to form this bond that eventually turns into love. The way they declare it was not what I pictured either. Max tested Danusia on how she'd respond to him being gone, how is that supposed to prove her love for him? I get he had issues because of his parents but that is not in any way romantic. So, he didn't love her before but because she doesn't ask him how long he would be gone on a mission, all of a sudden he loves her out of nowhere and he can voice it so easily like he's been saying it all of his life??? Not to mention how quick he pulled the switch on staying away from her, then giving in like nothing, and getting attached pretty fast for someone who didn't do relationships. It felt completely fake and like he became a different person overnight.

And I don't get what she saw in him that was so incredible other than he was an attractive man because he's just like her brother, which she despises. He lied to protect her, he's overbearing, and tried to distance himself from her. He never promised her anything but she still kept going after him. And on top of that she barely knew him, that first night she actually talked to him she was already throwing her naked body at him. Where is her self-respect and dignity???!!! Why is it that we either have a heroine who makes a complete fool out of herself stuttering and tripping all over the floor because a man is so yummy or the heroine who has no respect for herself or him and assumes that just because a guy shows appreciation for her looks it automatically means he wants to have sex? For one, he could already have a girlfriend and here she is parading around naked in front of him. Where are all the normal girls in these books that don't come across so desperate or annoying? The storyline flopped and the characters fell short. I didn't care if they ended up together because there was no connection to begin with. They both have a couple of loose screws in their mentality so maybe they are perfect for each other in the end.

Hot Mess 1 star
I was annoyed by both characters in this book. The title is perfect the book was just one big hot mess. Alyssa and Noah were two people I just can't understand or root for. First off, she makes a stupid mistake that sets off a chain of events that are her own fault. To be fair, Noah goes along with it but it's for a good reason and she didn't exactly give him a chance to speak because she kept cutting him off so he figured he'd tell her after they lost two people who were following them. She is another brainless heroine claiming to be smart but gets them into trouble by going to the first place their tails will look for them. She sucks as a bodyguard because he's the one planning their escapes and is pretty much a dimwit throughout the whole book but we're supposed to believe she graduated from law school when she can't even keep track of the work schedules accurately??? Sorry, not buying it. As for him, he got caught up in the wrong situation and made the mistake of impersonating someone else for the job. That's forgivable, but he crossed the line when he had sex with her.

Another thing, what are these people thinking, having sex with someone they just met? Seriously, the issue itself is addressed in the book but that doesn't make it any better. At least in a one night stand hookup, both parties make sure the other person is clean and that they are using some form of protection. These two just went at it and hoped for the best. When everything is revealed, she stupidly put both their lives in jeopardy, if Noah had gotten distracted by her coming back in the room and the two guys were really dangerous, her overdramatic reappearance could have gotten them killed. I don't understand where those proclamations of love came from when they spent half a day with each other, didn't talk much or get to know each other at all except through their bodies that is, and hadn't seen or talked in 4 months. They don't know each other!!! How can they love the other person??? Thinking about someone is NOT the same as being in love with someone. The ending was fitting for these characters, weird and irrational. I'll end it here.

Acapulco Heat 2 stars
The storyline was somewhat interesting but Lauren tries to come off as more than just a pretty face and nice body but fails. She had me going when she had her little monologue about who she was, where she came from, what she had seen in life that set her apart from other models. Basically scolding Finn for how he stereotyped and misjudged her without giving her a chance. But that all changed when this "intelligent" woman thinks it's a fantastic idea to take a swim in the lake when people still out to kill them and entice her bodyguard (that's trying to get her safely home)...for sex...when people are hell bent on hunting her down??? I can see if they had been in the jungle for DAYS without a shower or had been trekking in the heat for HOURS and common sense flew out the door for a precious gift you took for granted. But come on...she had a nice shower the night before, relieved some sexual tension, and they were only three miles from their destination so they could get back home. Oh and said girl who claims not to be a diva complains several times about losing her shoes not because it means she might step on things that will hurt her feet or prevent her from keeping up with Finn. No, it's because they're "Givenchy" shoes for one, and apparently have sentimental value but we never find out what it is. Go figure. Lauren was an idiot and pathetically desperate. Finn might have just been attracted to her, it didn't mean that he wanted to have sex with her. He was on the job, he could lose his job if he slept with her and she outed him for being unethical, he loses everything she loses nothing. I don't blame him for being cautious and guarding himself around her.

She is no better than Sylvia, she manipulates him into doing what she wants, and she throws a hissy fit because he doesn't want to act on his attraction in case something goes wrong or he can't stay focused. The only thing I didn't like about Finn was that he saw women having meltdowns in a crisis as weak and a huge flaw as if it's wrong. It makes things harder to get them to use their head but in no way is that a bad thing it's normal. Who wouldn't freak out at seeing someone killed in front of them??? Other than that, I liked him. I get that this is a novella but sex was all there was between them. I don't see them having a relationship, just a two week fling if that. There was no connection. She wanted him because he was the only guy who didn't fawn all over her, he wanted her because she was hot and willing. Anyone would have done for either of them. I'm no prude and love a good sex scene but when that's all there is between a guy and girl I feel cheated. I want to see the feelings then buildup to that moment. This book has none of that. It's a short story but it can be done, it just takes a certain writer that can accomplish it. Elisabeth does great at full length novels but short ones I've found are not her forte.

This started out as a vacation read for me since I knew it would be easily digestible and something I could read and not feel like I had to rush back to. It was an okay read, not great, but okay for what it was.

Lucy Monroe's story was decent, but mostly just sex. I found Max and Danusia to be very hot together, but the action was lacking.

The Jamie Denton novella started out pretty great and I was really into it. But then it fell flat halfway through and became yet another predictable book.

Elisabeth Naughton's novella was a surprise. I've never heard of this author before, so I certainly wasn't expecting so much death and blood given the previous two books featured in this anthology. It wasn't a bad book, I was certainly engaged and wanting to know how things would turn out. But that ending was complete crap. It just ended abruptly before they're even out of the jungle ... like WTH? We don't get to see any resemblance of a HEA or resolution to the problem. Maybe the author continued the story later on, but it was simply disappointing to have it end that way after the build-up. The sex was really hot, I'll give the author that.

Picked this out on a whim from local library's online collection. Wasn't really expecting much.

I found the first story "Who's Been Sleeping in My Brothers Bed?" by Lucy Monroe to be unexpectedly excellent. I was quite impressed for a novella to have a full formed plot and a some decent relationship progression. Five out of five, definitely will be looking up the author.

The other two stories I just couldn't get into. They were both over-the-top cliches.

Novella 1: 4 stars. Quick easy read. I like the story, their history and their connection. Looking up this author to read more.

Novella 2: 2.5 stars. This one just didn’t do much for me and I found I was skimming it.

Novella 3: 3.5 stars. I enjoyed this story and would have liked a few more chapters.

A review for The Romance Reviews.

BODYGUARDS IN BED features three stories by three different authors with exciting stories, strong heroines, and the men who steal their hearts while protecting their bodies.

Who's Been Sleeping in My Brother's Bed? by Lucy Monroe

Danusia is in trouble. Someone broke into her apartment and she's freaked out. Instead of running to her over-protective family, she decides to hide out at her brother Roman's apartment for a while. Only one problem...her brother's super sexy soldier friend is staying there right now. Max is Danusia's ultimate fantasy, and she decides that she wants to experience mind-blowing sex, so she sets out to get him.

Max knows his friend's sister should be off limits, but the young professor really turns him on. She deserves better than him, but he can't resist her. And when the people who break into her apartment turn up the heat, he realizes he'll do anything to protect her...forever.

I really liked this story. It was fun, comical, and sexy. Danusia and Max have a bit of a history together. Watching her go after him and him trying to do the noble thing was hilarious. His nobility certainly didn't last long. Max and Danusia's chemistry was great. Danusia has felt like an oddball for a long time, so it was nice to have her find someone who actually "got" her. It had a sweet ending that made me smile and warmed my heart.

I felt that the whole break-in plot was tied up a little too quickly, and was hoping to get more with that, but it's my only complaint about the story.

This book is connected to the Atrati Series as well as the Goddard Project Series, and while I don't think that you need to read those other books to enjoy this, I think this story has certainly piqued my interest for reading those series.

Hot Mess by Jamie Denton

Alyssa has really done it this time. Because of her mistake, she's responsible to protect an important witness/whistleblower until he's set to testify in a huge case tomorrow. However, while she's expecting a geeky pencil-pusher, she runs into the hottest man she's ever seen. It's just her luck that he's also the man she's supposed to be protecting...or is it?

Noah knows he shouldn't let the woman waiting for his witness think he's someone else, but it seems to fit his needs right about now. He just never expected to be so attracted to her. And while they are running from goons, they find their attraction is undeniable. Giving in to that attraction however, causes one big mess.

Noah's character was great. He's in a bad situation where he can't tell Alyssa who he really is but wants to badly. He doesn't handle things well, and they end up blowing up in his face. I felt for him then.

The story was interesting with the whistleblower being the center of the plot. I didn't like how the relationship between Noah and Alyssa progressed however, I just don't think they had enough time together to get to that HEA, but other than that, I enjoyed the story.

Acapulco Heat by Elisabeth Naughton

Lauren is a famous supermodel in Mexico for a sexy photo shoot, but her bodyguard Finn would rather be anywhere else. Watching the hot little body on that woman in a barely there bikini while he's been having x-rated dreams about her every night is pure torture. He'd rather be saving hostages in South America or even traipsing through the jungle with people he'd rather kill than save...he'd rather just be anywhere than having to watch her all day.

Well, he gets his wish when some really bad men come after Lauren. Finn does whatever he has to keep from harm. Keeping his hands off the woman he's been dreaming about is a whole different story.

This story had tons of action. It was supercharged and moved quickly. The chemistry between Finn and Lauren was obvious from the beginning and I liked how they danced around each other and their feelings for one another.

I liked Lauren's character because she was much deeper than what appeared on the surface and she was a lot stronger than Finn gave her credit for. She also didn't take his crap when he tried to lay it on her.

I also liked the relationship build up between Finn and Lauren. The sex between them was as heated as the rest of their relationship and was super steamy. Their ending was realistic and appropriate for the length of the story.

Overall, I give BODYGUARDS IN BED 4 stars. All three novellas feature heroines who are strong in their own way, and the hot heroes who have captured their hearts while protecting them. It was a quick read and the perfect companion for some great beach reading.

Who's Been Sleeping in My Brother’s Bed by Lucy Monroe

Danusia is young, smart and pretty. The problem? She feels like an outcast in her loving family. With an IQ that is off the charts and the youngest in the family, she is loved, but treated differently. Cosseted, she never feels quite apart of her family. When a break in at her apartment causes her to leave until it is repaired, she decided to stay at her brother’s place while he is away. But to her astonishment, a colleague of her brother’s, the sexy Maxwell Baker is currently staying at the apartment when Danusia moves in! Danusia has secretly had a huge crush on Max and to her confusion and surprise he is really attracted her, too. Danusia can't believe Max is attracted to a boring geek, but she isn't about to question her luck either! When another break in occurs, hunky Max is just the man to take care of all of Danusia’s needs!

This was a steamy romance and the chemistry between the two main characters had me turning the pages. I really liked how Danusia feels unsure because she still sees herself as a nerd and not really attractive. However, Maxwell sees her as a woman! I also liked that the author has an interracial relationship. For such a short story, this story was fully fleshed out and even includes a mystery that made it feel like a full length novel. 4 ½ stars

Hot Mess by Jamie Denton

Alyssa has gone from job to job, never quite finding her place. At her latest job for Primo Security, she is the official jack of all trades, filling in where needed. But a mess up in the scheduling has her stressed when she is tasked with picking up a last minute VIP at the LAX airport. This man is a high profile witness and she needs to keep him safe before the trial even though she really isn’t a bodyguard. As she rushes to find him at the airport, she meets a very attractive man who turns out to be her client. She can't believe her luck, because he certainly is eye candy! But what Alyssa doesn’t realize is that he is actually, Noah, a FBI agent. Noah is assigned to stay with Alyssa and keep the bad guys distracted from finding the real witness. But passion runs hot as these two flee from danger.

This story took me by surprise. I loved the author’s humor. The heroine is hilarious and reminded me of a klutzy Stephanie Plum from Janet Evanovich’s series. I did find the story improbable but the author’s light touch had me ignoring most of that. I really liked Noah, he was super sexy and felt bad deceiving Alyssa. Fun and outrageous, this is a quick and satisfying read. 4 stars

Acapulco Heat by Elisabeth Naughton

Finn Tierney has what most men would consider the best job ever - guarding the beautiful super model Lauren Kauffman. In reality, this assignment is sheer hell as Lauren is high maintenance and spoiled. But what really gets Finn is that he can't help himself from wanting her just like any other man on the planet, and that makes him a very grumpy man, indeed. He is just waiting until he can leave this assignment and the maddening lust he feels when she is near. But on his last night guarding her, they go to a club where one of the other models is killed. Now the killers want Lauren, too...

This story was fast paced and I liked both characters, but because it was a short story, I did not think the author had enough time to do the plot justice. I never got the depth of the characters that I think I would if the author had written a full length novel, which I felt this story deserved. So, while it is a solid read, I felt it could have been even better. 3 1/2 stars

Who’s Been Sleeping in my Brother’s Bed - Lucy Monroe - 3 / 5 - I think this is an attachment to a series, because it references a lot of characters and background that I don’t know. It still stands alone well though. Danusia is staying at her brother’s apartment because hers had a break-in and she discovers that Max, her brother’s best friend and secret para-military ops coworker is also staying there. They’re crazy attracted, but Max won’t go there for reasons. Danusia shoots them all down pretty nicely (and I liked how she did that!) and they end up sleeping together. Without even realizing it, these two enter a relationship. Then they have to deal with the fact that Danusia’s research is the reason her apartment was broken into and that she might be in danger. So, Max becomes her bodyguard. I’d expected a bit more angst, what with him being a military guy and having to leave, but it all wrapped up without any angst really.

Hot Mess - Jamie Denton - 3 / 5 - This story really does involve a hot mess. Alyssa is indecisive about her career and has a tendency toward bad luck and accidents. She’s resourceful, but still pretty much a hot mess. She’s picking up a client for the security firm she works for and grabs the wrong guy instead: Noah Templeton, FBI Agent. Well, the bad guys come after them and they have to rely on each other and they succumb to their attraction and Noah still hasn’t told her who he is. This was pretty decent. Alyssa walked that line on the border of irritating but I could tolerate her for such a short story. The only thing I wasn’t such a huge fan of was the at the end. Especially since the only reason for it was because neither of them were willing to set aside pride to go after the other.

Acapulco Heat - Elisabeth Naughton - 2 / 5 - This story involves supermodel Lauren and her bodyguard on set and member of Aegis Group, Finn Tierney. He’s crazy attracted but won’t cross the line to sleep with a client: not with his history anyway. She’s a bit more forward about getting what she wants, but resents that he rejects her. But then they find themselves on the run from some drug lords in Mexico and they learn a lot about each other and throw aside all preconceived notions. This was really well-written and very action-packed. It would have rated higher for me if I hadn’t taken an instant dislike to the heroine. It’s not good when you’re getting that intro to characters and you actually think, “Goodness, I hope she’s not the heroine.” But she is. She starts out playing all kinds of jealousy games, trying to get Finn to have sex with her and then throwing a sort of tantrum when he rejects her. All this while she swears up and down that she’s not a spoiled and typical supermodel. She does prove it later on, but I kept thinking of her as a game player. I’d definitely still look for more by this author and hope the heroine is slightly more to my liking.

Bodyguards in Bed by Lucy Monroe, Jamie Denton, Elisabeth Naughton

This book is an adult romance anthology.

The 1st story is called "Who's Been Sleeping in My Brother's Bed" by Lucy Monroe. The main characters includes a very young and smart PH.D . student and huge superhero fan Danusia Chernichenko and Atrati agent Maxwell Baker. After having her apartment broken into, Danusia goes to spend time at her brothers apartment only to find out that Max is also staying there while her brother is away. Danusia is working on her doctoral thesis about the use of nanotechnology in pharmaceuticals while Max is waiting for his condo to be ready. They soon give into their attraction and then Danusia finds out that her apartment has been broken into (again) and trashed. She begins to think that one of the companies (Luminescent Pharmaceuticals) might be involved with the break ins as their research doesn't seem to be adding up to what it should be.

The 2nd story is called "Hot Mess" by Jamie Denton. The main characters include Alyssa Cardellini and FBI Special Agent Noah Temple. Alyssa Cardellini works for Primo Security Services (just one of her many jobs over the years) and messed up the date for Charles Rolston, a former accountant for Bastian Pharmaceuticals, to come in by flight to be a federal prosecutor's star witness. Not knowing what he looks like she instead picks up Noah Temple. Noah is an FBI agent with an assignment to 'follow Rolston and make sure the guy testified at trial, them bring him in for questioning' but he lost Rolston somewhere in Kansas City. After landing and finding Alyssa with a sign that has Rolston's name on it, Noah decides to talk with her and plans on telling her that he isn't Roland but that's before he notices the 2 big men also looking for Roland. They give them the slip, give into their attraction to each other, and are being chased by the 2 men. Who are the men and will Noah ever tell Alyssa the truth?

The 3rd story is called "Acapulco Heat" by Elisabeth Naughton. Main characters include bodyguard Finn Tierney and supermodel Lauren Kauffman. Finn is in charge of guarding Lauren and they both find it hard to fight their attraction. After Finn makes it clear that he wont do anything with her, Lauren takes Javier Santiago (a male supermodel she's been modeling with all week) up on an offer to go out. Things heat up between Finn and Lauren while at the club but the night ends with some shooting, the death of Javier, hot wiring a car, and them being on the run from men dressed up like cops. Who are the guys dressed up like cops? What do they want with Lauren?

This book was very good. All of the stories have action, attraction, love and conflict. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes there romance with some action. I, personally, thought that Elisabeth Naughton shined with the most action and the closest to the title of the story. I would give this book a 4 out of 5.

Sometimes, I read just for escapism-style entertainment, and that usually means a fun, fast, and sexy read like "Bodyguards in Bed". Three tantalizing tales from a trio of skilled storytellers, each a multi-genre author, are served up for your reading pleasure. In each novella, the protector is unprepared for the sensual awareness they feel in the vicinity of their surveillance subject, which gives a whole new meaning to the word "bodyguard". Each couple is a well-matched pair, with plenty of verbal sparks and fiery passion. In "Who's Been Sleeping in my Brother's Bed", by Lucy Monroe, sweet and scientific Danusia seeks refuge in her brother's apartment while he is out of town. She discovers that her brother has another houseguest, the gorgeous Max, best friend to her brother, and the object of Danusia's sensual daydreaming. Max has not been unaware of Danusia, and she has been the subject of his many potently erotic dreams. However, a guy just doesn't mess with his best friend's sister--right? When circumstances force them to work together to solve a threatening mystery, their erotic fantasies are brought to vivid life. In "Hot Mess", by Jamie Denton, accident-prone Alyssa works as a "glorified gopher" for a security firm. Due to crossed wires that she helped to create, she is the only one available to pick up a security-seeking client at the airport. The man who responds to the name placard she holds up is the most attractive man she's ever seen--far too rugged to be the corporate whistle-blower she was expecting. DEA agent Noah didn't know what to think when he received his latest assignment, but the last thing he anticipated was a seemingly ditzy, beautiful blonde bodyguard. By the time he figures out that Alyssa is a blonde with brains and beauty, his professional detachment has long since fled the coop. When Alyssa discovers that he is not the client hired by the security firm, the two of them are already on the run from bullets and bad guys. Increased adrenaline from their dangerous dilemma leads to heightened sexual attraction, and soon the danger comes from the emotionally erotic response they have for each other. "Acapulco Heat", by Elizabeth Naughton, offers a spectacular super-model who is so much more than a pretty face, and an irresistible Irish bodyguard who tries and fails to resist the temptation of his captivating client. Lauren longs for a man who will see beyond her looks and want the woman behind the face. Finn, a tough-as-nails professional protector, has been burned before by becoming involved with a woman in his care. If Finn takes a chance with Lauren, will history repeat itself, or will Lauren prove to be his model mate? This is a book to be enjoyed when you want to be alone and pamper yourself with a romance read, a good cup of coffee and even better chocolate.

Hot. Hot. Hot. This anthology of three stories by three different authors is all about sex. Period. Nothing wrong with that, but be forewarned that they are erotic in nature and not for the under 18 crowd. All three are about bodyguards and the people they're supposed to protect, not get involved with.

The first story, "Who's been sleeping in my brother's bed?" by Lucy Monroe, is about a brainiac and her brother's friend, who just happens to be a bodyguard who also works for her brother. He has issues about going to bed with the "little sister". At least they have a relationship of sorts before they get down and dirty. The story line is a little hard to believe, but it's still enjoyable. The heroine is strong minded, knows what she wants and goes after it.

The second story, "Hot Mess" by Jamie Denton, is a little less believable. Thinking he's a whistleblower she's supposed to meet, she picks him up at the airport, doesn't make sure he is who he says, and takes him off to a hotel. Next thing you know, they're doing the hot and heavy. I think this story would have been better if it had been longer, allowing a relationship to develop. But it reads more like short scenes spliced together. Other than the sex, there's not much here. The heroine is a ditz, the hero a liar (okay, he was following orders, but still...)and there doesn't seem to be a real story line to follow.

The third story, "Acapulco Heat" by Elisabeth Naughton is also about the sex, but there's more of a story line here. At least this body guard is protecting the woman. Yes, there's sex, but there's also a story.

I guess what I had an issue with was not so much the sex - after all, it is supposed to be erotic, but that I actually like story with the bedroom scenes. And I prefer the participants to at least know each other's names before they jump into bed.

If all you're looking for is a hot read, then definitely pick this up. It's very good for that. The erotic scenes are hot, heavy, and well-done. They're short stories good for a quick read in the sun - or under the covers.

Bodyguards in Bed is a book made up of three different novellas from three separate authors, all with the same theme: hot bodyguards doing more than just protecting their clients. The first, “Who’s Been Sleeping in My Brother’s Bed” by Lucy Monroe, covers a brilliant Ph.D. student whose home has been burglarized. Danusia hightails to her brother’s apartment, which thought would be empty, but instead finds hottie black-ops agent Maxwell Baker has set up his own temporary home there. Her eye has been on her brother’s friend Max for some time now, and being alone in an apartment proves their chemistry is hot as ever. The second novella, “Hot Mess” by Jamie Denton, follows office worker Alyssa who gets in an identity mix-up. While at LAX to pick-up whistle blower Charles Rolston, she accidently reels in FBI special agent Noah Temple. Noah skips telling her she has the wrong man, but knows he made a mistake after they end up sleeping together. And the last is "Acapulco Heat” by Elisabeth Naughton, where supermodel Lauren needs the protection of former army ranger Finn Tierney while on location. When Lauren’s co-worker turns out to be from a family of drug lords, murder ensues. It’s up to Finn to protect Lauren from getting murdered herself, but of course he finds time for some passion as well.

Bodyguards in Bed was a quick read, and I thought all three stories were interesting. Short stories and novellas aren’t my forte, but it was a fun book filled with some hot scenes. I think my favorite novella was the third, probably because I thought it was the longest and I could get more into the story and characters. I thought I was going to really like the first, but it seemed to end as soon as it began. If you like short stories and are looking for a hot summer read, I would recommend Bodyguards in Bed to you.

“Who’s Been Sleeping in My Brother’s Bed?” by Lucy Monroe introduces Danusia Chernichenko, a brilliant student who’s run into some bad luck lately. With her apartment broken into and needing repairs, she goes to crash at her brother’s place—only to stumble into the dark and sexy Maxwell Baker. Max tells himself (with five good reasons) why he shouldn’t get involved with his best friend’s sister. But when the break in turns into a connection to Danusia’s work at the university, Max volunteers his services to stay close, very close, to her side. Now and always.

Up next is “Hot Mess” by Jamie Denton. Alyssa Cardellini, a self-proclaimed “work-in-progress,” goes on a not-so-routine errand to pick up a client. When he greets her at the airport, she’s shocked to realize pharmaceutical accountant turned U.S. Marshall witness Charles Rolston is a stunner—gorgeous in every way—when in fact, she has picked up Special Agent Noah Temple with the White-Collar Crimes Unit of the FBI. Having lost track of Rolston on the way to the trial, Noah is instructed not to blow his cover. But when Alyssa turns into too much temptation to resist, Noah knows he’ll have to come clean or else risk losing her forever. If only the two thugs chasing them around town would realize that!

This sizzling anthology culminates in the exciting climax of “Acapulco Heat” by Elisabeth Naughton. When Lauren Kauffman’s brother hires a bodyguard to protect her during her photo shoot in Guatemala, the agency sends Finn Tierney. His sexy Irish brogue and smokin’ hot body are too potent for Lauren to resist. Finn struggles with his attraction to Lauren, as on a previous assignment, he had fallen for another model and it had only led to disaster. But when a Guatemalan drug cartel comes after Lauren because of her connection to a co-worker, Finn realizes he’ll do anything to keep her safe and in his arms…forever.

This book contains three different stories by three different authors. Overall, I loved the book. It was an enjoyable read. Individually, the first story, "Who's Been Sleeping in my Brother's Bed" was my favorite. Lucy Monroe has a way with words. It leaves you feeling like a voyeur in the development of the love affair between these characters. The second story, "Hot Mess" would have probably only gotten 4 stars on its own. While I enjoyed the story line, the intimate scenes were more crude. This felt more like watching a pornographic movie than an intimate love scene while the premise was still in tact for an intimate love scene. The story line itself was rather enjoyable and believable. The final story, Acapulco Heat, was more thrilling. High speed chases, bodies dropping, the sex at times was almost savage, but it fit with the story line of the book. What kind of sex would you have if you knew death was right around the corner and in all likelihood was coming after you? I recommend this book. It is very sensual and very adult, so keep that in mind if you are easily offended. Great job to all three ladies on this.

These 3 stories are contemporary novellas about bodyguards. All have sex, most is protected.

Lucy Monroe : 3 stars, protected sex. This author was why I bought this book, but it turns out her story is the weakest. Interracial romance, the hero is part of her black ops series. The heroine is the genius little sister of one of the main characters of a previous novel. This is a stand alone though. The story was well written & the romance good. It just pooped out on the action & was finished too quick.

Jamie Denton - 4 stars, protected the first time, then unprotected sex. This didn't start out to be a story I thought I'd like. The hero was good. The heroine though started out to be a ditzy dumbass. She redeems herself & gets her act together for the story to be saved. The action is OK, but fizzles out midway through.

Elisabeth Naughton - 4 stars, protected sex the first time, then unprotected. The best in the group IMO. The hero & heroine are both good. The hero is a little too uptight, but he gets better. The action is awesome! Just like a blockbuster action film. Ends abruptly, but that's about right for a short story like this.

I have learned a new category: "sensual stories". Think sexy, action-packed, fantasy material where both parties are nervous but they just go for it. This is a book containing 3 unrelated stories with a common bodyguard theme. Well-written and fun.

You might want to have a man waiting int the wings when you read this book!!

I'm not giving this 5 stars because it was the best thing I've ever read. I just really enjoyed the fast paced romance in 100 pages kind of feeling. It's like mini episodes of a show. All 3 stories are able to be read on their own. The only thing linking them is the fact that there is a bodyguard in all of them. I think the 3rd one is my favorite. They were just simple, fast, easy enjoyable stories.

granted i only read the lucy monroe story in the book but i'm sure the others were good too... my to be read list is just too long to read the others but i needed the next in the Atrati series, though i guess it actually overlaps with the previous book. Good short story, very cute with a few hot scenes and quirky romance.

I read this because I just adore Elisabeth Naughton, and her contribution was by far my favorite of the bunch! It was a great story, but I would have loved just a bit more from the ending. I get that it is a novella, but hers was the only one that really felt like a full story. The other two were mediocre and too brief.

This was a satisfying read of three short novellas. Short stories perfect for waits in the doctors office, or on a quick flight. The characters were memorable in each story and with just enough heat to make them worthwhile reads!
