Paige Lombardi knows that falling for her best friend’s brother, Jeff Benedetto, was a really bad idea, made even worse by the fact that he blew her off the morning after. She’s managed to avoid him for five years, but now her best friend Gina is in trouble with the mob, and before Paige can say holy cannoli, she’s trapped in an apartment with both Jeff and Gina’s baby. While the goal is to protect the baby and find Gina, somehow Paige finds herself getting more than a little distracted by Jeff, his sexy body, and his surprising confession…
USA Today and New York Times Bestselling author Erin McCarthy sold her first book in 2002 and has since written over a hundred novels and novellas in teen fiction, new adult, and adult romance. Erin has a special weakness for high-heeled boots, beaches and martinis. She lives in Ohio with her family, two grumpy cats and a socially awkward dog.
I really enjoyed this story a lot. Very sexy, funny, steamy and unpredictable. Plus a great H/h and a totally believable HEA. I'll write a review soon.
Paige Lombardi really wants nothing to do with Jeff Benedetto. After all, the last time they were alone he slept with her (she was a virgin BTW) and disappeared the following morning. But when Jeff's sister - her best friend - leaves her toddler son with Paige, Paige knows she needs help. Unfortunately the only one available is Jeff.
Jeff pulled the vanishing act because he got spooked. He started to fall for Paige and he wasn't ready. But now, fate (with some help from mafia) threw them back together.
It was a great story with a lot of humor and even a few scenes where I had trouble stopping the hysterical laughter. As a matter of fact it reminded of the early Stephanie Plum books (Janet Evanovich). There are the meddling Italian families, the suspense part that is more funny than serious, and a lot of laughter. :-)
This is a short story written years ago but never before published. It was released for the first time this month for the Kindle at Amazon, ($1.49).
Paige Lombardi has always loved her best friend's brother, Jeff Benedetto. Years ago they had one incredible night together, but afterward, he never contacted her again. She has avoided him for five years, but now her best friend Gina is in trouble with the mob and Paige finds herself trapped in an apartment with Gina's one year old baby and Jeff. Neither Paige nor Jeff know anything about child care and I found myself laughing at their antics. And while struggling to stay hidden and take care of this baby, they each have their own reasons for fighting their strong sexual attraction for the other.
This is a light, quick read. And as usual with McCarthy's books, there is laughter and sizzle.
That's Amore by Erin McCarthy was a 5 star read for me. I totally loved it, it was funny, wacky and sexy.
Paige Lombardi was adopted by overprotective parents and was always the good and sweet girl and a blonde in an Italian neighborhood. She had a crush on her best friend's brother Jeff for ages but after they spent one night together he never called her, and she has spent the past 3 years avoiding him. Paige woke up one morning to see that Gina(her best friend) had left her one year old on Justin at her house and Paige was terrified of him since she didn't really know anything about kids so she tries to track her down and runs into Jeff and a gun. Someone is trying to find Frank, Gina's boyfriend so both Jeff an Paige run and hide in Paige's parents home.
What ensues is hilarious. Diaper changing, poor Jeff shopping for a kid and badgering Paige and the clothes he gets for Paige. Jeff doesn't consider himself worthy of Paige, since she is so intelligent and he is just in construction that is why he didn't call her back. The book was very funny. Poor Jeff fainting when he sees blood, that kitchen scene and that condom scene in front of all his relatives.
I absolutely loved the book. It was totally crazy and lovable.
My reading dates on here cover 3 whole years! LOL! Not really though. It kinda got lost so to speak. Found it earlier this year and finished it.
Very cute, sweet and funny story about 2nd chance romance. It was a, I liked it but didn't love it kinda book. It was a freebie when I got it.
I have totally loved quite a few of Erin McCarthy's books. Read mostly in 2012. She has an awesome Racing series, Fast Track. A Vampire series that was funny as hell, a Demon series that was fab and not so funny, ha. Plus a few more. You can see my profile if you wanna read my reviews on them or the blurbs.
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie...That’s Amore!
This book was cute and full of Italian clichés and stereotypes from the names that sounded like they were fresh from the latest mobster movie, the little Italian grandma with the stink eye, the Catholic guilt and naturally the mob hit references.
Paige Lombardi and Jeff Benedetto did the mommy-daddy dance three years ago and then bam - he left her the next day and she never heard from him again. Bad Jeff!
Now Jeff’s sister and Paige’s best friend Gina has up disappeared, but not before leaving her young son Justin in Paige's care. Yikes what was Gina thinking - Paige doesn’t know the first thing about looking after a baby. While trying to track Gina down to give her back the little bundle of joy, Paige runs smack dab into Jeff - who’s being held at gunpoint by a gumba. Through a series of convoluted events, Jeff, Paige and baby Justin barely escape and are forced to hide out until they can figure out where Gina is and what exactly is going on. Their enforced imprisonment has them asking the hard questions about what happened between them three years ago. Seems like they both have a lot of unresolved feelings for one another.
If there’s one thing that was clear early on was that these two paisanos were ill-equipped to handle an itty-bitty baby. And bambino Justin had an amazing sense of baby interuptus on more than one occasion.
There were some very funny LOL moments including a grocery store excursion, a poopie diaper (seriously 20 minutes for two people to change it?) and a leather couch and bare skin *wink*. This book had a madcap feel to it a la Lucy and Ricky Ricardo.
That’s Amore had me smiling and laughing more than once and it was the perfect read to while away a few hours at the gym to help keep my mind off exercising and counting down the minutes.
I love this author, and I will read anything and everything she writes (her 7 deadly sins series don't count...I pretend they don't exist!lol) So I was so excited to hear she was releasing a never before been pushlished book! And from my understanding it was one of her first:D I will admit this book was pretty predictable, and had some cheesey moments, and for EM it was super tame, but it def made up for all that with how sweet and truly funny it was! There were a couple scense that had me laughing out loud, and wishing I could read more about this family! Glad she decided to share this book with us!
Paige has been in love with her best friend's brother, Jeff, since she was ten. But 3 years ago, he broke her heart. Now they are thrown back together when Gina leaves her son with Paige. Will Paige forgive him?
This book came as a recommendation for a friend on GoodReads. Erin McCarthy is an author I enjoy and the book was a great price, so how could I not purchase it. It is a quick an easy read that had me laughing out loud in public.
I bought this for my Kindle because of the cheap price, but even the $1.50 I spent was too much. Ugh... I find it hard to believe it was actually written by the author - she is usually a very dependable fun, fluff read. But the only redeeming feature here was its incredibly brief length. (Kindles don't have page numbers, but I can't imagine this would have been more than 100 pages of an actual book.)
This was legitimately a terrible book. Maybe it would have been less bad if a less talented author had written it, but I know Erin McCarthy is capable of better work than this. If I had been her creative writing teacher and she handed this story in for a grade, I would have just given it back to her with a note saying "You're better than this."
Thought it was a good read. I love Erin's writing so it was a treat to see where she started and after reading some of her books see she has only gotten better! Thank you for sharing your beginning with us!
Cute short story about a couple who love one another but have not seen each other in three years. A baby brings them together, courtesy of the hero's sister! Fun as usual but I wish it had been longer!
When...the...moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie, THAT'S AMORE...i LOVED this story, short, but very sweet and HOT! Erin McCarthy sure knows how to pack a story line and great sex into a small book!
This was a fun, fast read which I thoroughly enjoyed. Paige and Jeff were both delightful. A lot of the humor was predictable and cliched such as how inept they were at babysitting, but still funny.
After reading a really emotional book last I picked That's Amore because I felt it would be light hearted and funny. It was both somewhat. Being an Italian American and a mother I found the story so unbelievable that it distracted me though. I wanted to like this book too. Oh well ......
