Megan Stine is the Editor-in-Chief of Real U Guides and the author of more than 100 books for young readers including Trauma-Rama, an etiquette book for teenagers published by Seventeen magazine, and several titles in a series based on the popular 1990’s television series Party of Five. A frequent writer of books in the enormously popular Mary-Kate and Ashley series, she is the best-selling author of Likes Me, Likes Me Not and Instant Boyfriend. She has worked with CBS and ABC in developing comedy and drama television pilots, and has written comedy material for a well-known radio personality in New York.

When she isn’t writing, she is a portrait and fine art photographer and a contributing photographer for the Real U series of guides.

Apparently this is the third time I'm reading this Three Investigators case in the German edition (I've also read it in English once), and it's still as bizarre as ever. This time the high point for me was Bob flirting with a girl at a party, and him asking her if they didn't know each other, and her replying "Sure, I'm your mother!" and then he goes "Oh, great mommy," etc etc. Did I mention this is a bizarre book? The whole premise is, but the writing of the boys in the Crimebuster era was really whack too. It's kind of entertaining but I can't give it more than two stars, my conscience won't allow it.

Ich weiss, die Folge ist sehr speziell mit dem Food Thema (besonders der "eklige" Besuch in der Hühnchenfabrik), aber mir gefällt dennoch die Folge sehr.

Diese Folge hat mir richtig gut gefallen, sie war im Hinblick auf Justus und seine Geschmacksknospen einfach wahnsinnig unterhaltsam und ich musste mehrmals schmunzeln.

Die drei ??? besuchen ihre Freundin Kelly im Krankenhaus. Plötzlich bekommt diese eine Mitpatientin in ihrem Zimmer. Julia, Tochter des Chicken Kings.
Sie hatte einen Autounfall und kann sich auch nach dem aufwachen an nichts mehr erinnern.
Doch den drei Detektiven scheint mehr dahinterzustecken. Gerade auch, weil ein anonymer Anruf sich im Krankenhaus nach Julia erkundigt und ihre Sachen durchwühlt wurden.
Als Justus und Peter bei dem Ermittlungsarbeiten feststellen, dass ihre Bremskabel durchgeschnitten wurden, wissen sie endgültig, dass etwas faul ist. Und, dass es mit den Hühnchen des Chicken Kings zu tun hat.

Sehr runde Geschichte. Keine ausgefallenen Situation oder Wendungen, aber eine klare Erzählstruktur.
Eine Thematik die durchaus realistisch auch so ablaufen könnte.
Schön finde ich, dass alle drei gleiche Detektivarbeitsanteile bekommen.

I'm still getting use to the older Three Investigators of the Crimebusters series, but still a good mystery that maintains the flavor of the original series. They've changed the character of Bob Andrews dramatically, and Pete somewhat, but Jupiter remains the same, which works.

This particular volume involves a fast food chicken restaurant chain plot and even though parts are cliche (such as amnesia as a plot device) it's still a fun read. Not quite as good as the old series in general, but not bad.

It's okay, not one of the strongest entries in the series. Kind of melodramatic. The witty dialogue pretty much carries the entire book.

This series is a modern take on an old favorite series of vintage young adult books !! We have the original Three Investigators here ; still investigating . Only this time , they are a few years older . It is a fun book . I decided to try a book in the new series . I enjoyed it more than I thought I would . I enjoyed the book enough that I have decided to collect / read these books !! I recommend this new version of an old favorite !!

The second in the Crimebusters Three Investigators series, this one is written by Megan an William H. Stine, who have both written books in various young adult series. I have not found any information as to whether or not they are related.

Besides the things I mentioned in my review of the first book I also note that chief Reynolds from the original series appears. Jupiter's cousin is mentioned but does not make an appearance. Jupiter's childhood acting career was mentioned in the first book

A couple of other new things in the series are Pete having a regular girlfriend, Jupiter being shy around girls and also him going on various diets, which I presume will be an on going part.

As to the story it involves espionage at a fast food chicken place. Two places are mentioned, both made up, although at one point one of the lads suggests going to McDonalds.

Overall it's a fast read but reasonably entertaining read. Still not up to the originals.

Never read this Crimebusters series which has the Three Investigators older and in high school.

Really enjoyed it. Great, fun mystery. Is a fast food chicken magnate planning to poison his customers with a new product? Didn’t ultimately guess the outcome. Will read more.

• Im Krankenhaus bekommt Kelly Madigan eine neue Zimmernachbarin: Julia Crown, die nach einem Unfall im Fiebertraum immer wieder warnt: „Millionen Menschen werden sterben … er vergiftet die Hähnchen.“
• Ein unheimlicher Besucher („Mister Sweetness“, Militärjacke) durchsucht Julias Schrank – später lockt er Justus und Peter in eine Verfolgungsjagd, bei der Peters Bremsleitung manipuliert ist und sie nur knapp einem Crash entgehen.
• Die Spur führt ins Imperium von „Chicken King“ Big Barney Crown und zu einem neuen Produkt („Drippin’ Chicken“): Die Angst ist, dass ein verbotener, krebserregender Zusatzstoff in großem Stil eingesetzt werden soll.
• In der Firma „Miracle Tastes“ finden die ??? Fässer mit der Tarnbezeichnung „FB‑433“; Firmenchef Don Dellasandro stellt sie mit Revolver, Einschüchterung und absurdem „Bonbon‑Geschmackstest“, wird aber überwältigt und gefesselt.

Ich werde die restlichen Crimebusters einfach mit sehr viel Humor lesen. Das Hörspiel zu nieder to gibt fand ich immer ziemlich gut und reichlich bizarr (und das obwohl mich als Tierrechtlerin die detaillierten Beschreibungen der Toten Hühner nicht so ganz kalt lassen). Das Originalbuch ist allerdings noch seltsamer, ekliger (allein die Beschreibung wie Justus der Gravy das Bein runterläuft und das Huhn seine Hose ganz dreckig macht) aber auch lustiger. Der Fall kam mir in Hörspiel irgendwie besser vor aber vielleicht liegt das auch nur daran, dass er etwas ernsthafter dargestellt wird. Allen Peter mit seinen ganzen Karate Tritten die natürlich den Bösewicht mit Waffe fertig machen...

"Watch your language, Jupe," Bob said. "Pete s at an impressionable age."

"Hi there, Buddy, hi there, friend. It's great to have you back again. What's your order? What's your scoop? We've got it from the hens teeth to soup. What would you like?"

"I'll have a six-piece murder to go. " Peter said absently.

Die Namen Junior Jones, Pete cranberry und Bob andersonville Fand ich auch sehr nett.

Story was ok but the frequent references and graphic in depth info about chicken farming and animal cruelty sort of prejudiced me to the story.

Trio Detektifnya udah remaja. Bob udah ganteng, Pete udah pacaran, Jupiter masih gendut. Saya baru tau ternyata seri ini ada versi ketika Trio Detektif anak-anak sama ketika Trio Detektif udah remaja.

Ceritanya baik-baik aja. Tapi mungkin udah ga cocok sama umur saya. Baca ini selain demi mengenang masa lalu (Misteri Nuri Gagap adalah buku favorit saya sampai saya kenal Harry Potter), juga demi menuhin reading challenge. Bukunya kelar dibaca sekali duduk. Di tengah reading slump (AGAIN???!!!), ini sudah 3 hari sebelum ganti taun. Saya emang cenderung milih jalan paling mudah kalo udah kepepet. Hhhhh..
