Yoshiki Nakamura (仲村佳樹) is a Japanese mangaka. She was born June 17. Nakamura made her manga debut with "Yume de Auyori Suteki" in the manga magazine Hana to Yume in 1993.
This remains one of my favorite manga series, and this volume is extra adorable. Kyoko's first kiss is stolen by Sho, and she is, of course, traumatized. Obviously Ren is effected, too, because he cares about Kyoko. He's in a tough situation, because on the one hand, he wants to claim Kyoko as his own and tell her that he loves her. But on the other hand, Ren has enough sense to know ambushing Kyoko is not the way to build a trusting, lasting relationship. As much as I want them to be together, I respect him pulling back at the last minute. It was enough that he kissed her on the check - that did the job of ridding Kyoko's mind of all thoughts of Ren. Hehe. :)
Hopefully this will spur Kyoko into seeing Ren as more than just a superior at work. And I have to admit, I don't mind seeing the boys all trying to get Kyoko's attention. Even Reino is a little adorable in his strange, twisty way. When is the next volume coming out?
NOTES ON A SECOND READING The one with the kissing! Kyoko is at the center of this one, and she’s clearly still too hurt from her past with Sho to be dealing with kisses and romantic feelings. Sho clearly still has feelings for Kyoko but he doesn’t seem content with trying to woo her - he just wants to be the one who is always in her thoughts, until she eventually succumbs to him. The whole interaction with him was eye opening - first, there was announcing she was dating Reino, then pitying her for never having a boyfriend, then eventually stealing her first kiss. And a French kiss, at that, stealing the chocolate out of her mouth! 😱 No wonder her brain kept focusing on her anger towards him.
I did appreciate how Ren tried to reframe it for her - is it truly a kiss if you’re not a willing, active participant? It obviously wasn’t an accident like the situation in REN’s childhood story, but Kyoko didn’t consent to be kissed and she didn’t enjoy it. Though the flippant way Ren spoke about crying over silly things was annoying, I know he was saying it that way to try and help Kyoko think it was no big deal. Of course, his tactics changed when he found out Kyoko had made a special Valentine’s dessert for him alone. Knowing that, and seeing her still consumed with anger about Sho, I’m not surprised his inclination was to replace Sho’s spot in her brain with a kiss from him. I do appreciate that he pulled back and just kissed her cheek, because it’s better to not have their first kiss mixed up with Sho at all, plus with how much her brain spiraled out of control with just the cheek kiss, can you imagine if Ren had full-on kissed her? Yikes! It’s good he talked with her again and tried to play it off as no big deal because she is clearly NOT READY but at least he succeed in kicking Sho out of her brain.
As for the little Reino interlude we get, I feel like he was legitimately scary when he had Kyoko cornered in the woods and was threatening her career and her body, but now he just seems like a little weirdo who likes dark things and doesn’t understand how people work. Like he legit liked Kyoko best in Mio mode with her dark hair, scar, and villain vibes. I think that’s why he likes Kyoko’s grudge spirit so much, because it’s the pure hatred that lives inside Kyoko.
As for Moko and Hio, I’m glad she was able to tell him honestly that she really respects him as an actor, and bonus, she got that musician dude to leave her alone. She’s a really thoughtful person deep down.
Okay, this entire volume had me kinda shook TBH. First with Shou turning up with that HUGE bouquet for Kyouko, in order to "congratulate her on her relationship with Reino", and yeah... that was a little weird... BUT THEN HE STOLE HER FIRST KISS. RIGHT. IN FRONT. OF REN. HOW *DARE* YOU.
Poor Kyouko was just completely flabbergasted and lost, and Ren was basically doing his upmost in order to get her to a) think nothing of the kiss, and thus nothing of Shou, and then b) trying to take Shou's place in her thoughts.
The jealousy and possessiveness that Ren felt was just utterly adorable ;D
And we also got a really cute moment between Moko and Hiou, with Moko finally getting to give Hiou the chocolates she made - and also beating up the creep who was hitting on her. And then the after conversation with Hiou? So cuteeeee <3 Those two make also friends.

Poor Kyoko! These stupid men don't cherish her enough. They drive her insane. Yashiro is the only decent one, and that's because he sort of cares for her in a brotherly way.
This was a fantastic read. Skip Beat is one of my favourite mangas of all time. All of the volumes will get 5 stars from me. Each volume just keeps getting better, especially during the Valentine arc portion of the story. In this volume, Kyoko and Reino's Valentine's rivalry gains Sho's attention. Sho is jealous and he wants Kyoko to be obsessed with him. Kyoko is mad at Sho after doing something that she did want while on set. Also, we see more of Ren and Kyoko's relationship explored. I loved the ending chapter of this book, it makes me happy to see their friendship/relationship bloom. Sho is still not my favourite, but it does not take away my love for this volume of this incredible manga series. I cannot wait to read Volume 26. Overall, an amazing read.
Creepy stalking men are after Kyoko. First Reino and now Sho is entering the scene (again). And what a mess it becomes are Kyoko tries (and fails) to hide it all from Ren. Which drive all three men crazy just about. So much trouble and chaos ensues and I loved every second. And Reino is the only honest one in the bunch which is weird. And does Kyoko get her first kiss?! Well guess that depends how you look at it.
This episode convinced me even more that Ren Tsuruga has to be the best romcom manga hero of all, at least on the meters of patience and sexiness. His simple kiss on our heroine's cheek was swoon inducing.

Today’s post is on Skip Beat!, Vol. 25 by Yoshiki Nakamura. It is 184 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover is an illustration of Kyoko all dressed up. As it is the twenty-fifth in the series, you need to have read the first twenty-four volumes to understand the story. There is no foul language, no sex, and comedic violence in this book. The intended reader is someone who likes humorous manga with a great main character. The story follows the main character, Kyoko. There Be Spoilers Ahead. From the back of the book- Kyoko's Valentine's battle with Reino has finally gained her Sho's attention—but now it's the last thing she wants! Sho is determined to make her obsessed with him, and shows up on set with an over-the-top gift to taunt her. But when Kyoko explains her true relationship with Reino, Sho makes an inexcusable move. Has he undone her years of healing in one fell swoop?!
Review- Sho is a total jerk in this volume and most of the volume is dealing with that. He forces Kyoko to kiss him in front of Ren and all her co-workers. Just when I thought I couldn’t dislike him more, he does that. He cannot stand for Kyoko to be thinking of anyone else and he is being a hardcore jerk, instead of leaving her alone. Ren is affected too and makes a small move towards Kyoko by kissing her check in thanks for a gift. That helps her forget about Sho, because who could think about him when Ren Tsuruga is there. Kyoko handles it well considering her personality but I am curious about what she is going to be working on next now that Dark Moon is done.
I give this manga a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
I can't believe I'm halfway through!!! (At least, in regards to the fact that the most recently released volume in this ongoing series is number 50...)
This is officially the longest I've ever read a manga, with the previous record going to Ouran High School Host Club, at 18. I never thought I'd be able to stay invested in something this lengthy, but here we are, and I'm just as excited to read the next 25 (and more)!!!
This was definitely a major bang of a volume, an explosion of feelings if you will.
Not only do we have an extremely jealous, and sexy, Sho Fuwa, on the hunt for revenge against Kyoko and Reino, we also have a mixed up Ren, we has lots of unrequited love for Kyoko, and is very worried that she might ignore him on Valentine's Day. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
And when Sho actually kissed Kyoko?!? I audibly GASPED!!!!!!! It was so twisted, yet so hot??? My brain is literally in shambles... But wait, Ren also kissed Kyoko? I mean, on the cheek, but it was just as hot!
This is why I love a slow burn, the tiniest, most miniscule things absolutely set my blood on fire, in the best way.
But I can't believe I'm saying this, I actually kind of love Sho. I know he probably won't ever get a redemption arc, but I just love a bad boy that becomes better with time (blame Zuko).
Basically what happened this volume: Kyoko explained that the chocolates for valentine’s day were for Reino because he forced her to make them. Sho kisses kyoko. Ren sees the kiss, and gets angry. Ren snaps Kyoko out of her daze. Kyoko gives Ren his valentine’s day chocolates in the form of wine gelee. Ren kisses Kyoko on the cheeks as a form of thanks. Kyoko gets in a dofferent daze, and is convinced that Ren is a lady’s man. Moko defending Hio and then giving him the chocolates. That’s about it. Quite a lot happened in this volume. It was a really amusing one. I really enjoyed!
I am so uninterested in this series, but I want to see it through. I won’t be making proper reviews for it anymore since my thoughts are just generally the same all the time anyway (lots of annoyance/anger for some volumes now); my rating will tell you if I liked or disliked it. You can safely assume, however, that I still despise Sho and Ren, and everyone else, but Kyo and her bestie (who sometimes isn’t around and sometimes is, much like Sho).
Yup. Just as good as I remembered. The "kiss fight". The jealousy. The consume her every thought. Muah ha ha ha these boys are pathetic!!! Loved seeing her righteous anger for Sho but also slip into her princess sparkles mode too. And!!!! She gets flustered by Ren!!! Ahhhh it's so good. Still skimmed the Moko & costar scenes because I care zero.
This volume is also very nice. Ren comes out of the story quite well. He manages to replace Sho in Kyoko's mind. Will she realise that she also has feelings for Ren? But what has she given Ren for his birthday? Improved drawings.
