When the government needs a body double for a covert operation, they hire shape-shifter Charley Randall. For two centuries, she’s played every part from foreign dignitary to office drone. The role she wants most, though, is one she’s denied herself three times already.

FBI Agent Wyatt Moreland believes Charley’s photographic memory is the key to his latest assignment. He’s oblivious to the true extent of her abilities, but he can’t deny the sense of déjà vu at their introduction.

Unlike Wyatt, Charley knows this isn’t their first meeting.

It’s their fourth.

The girl he vowed to love, sixteen years before, stands in front of him in her true form - one he’ll never recognize.

With each reconnection, Charley loves him more, though she realizes this is her last chance to explain. Only absolute truth can bring them happiness, but can Wyatt forgive her deceptions? Or will lies tear them apart forever?

Aimee is a romantic at heart and a southern transplant with a bit of the accent (but not a whole bunch). She's married to her high school sweetheart, and with him, she's produced three native North Carolinians, two of whom share the same DNA.

With an MBA and a degree in Applied Mathematics, there’s absolutely no reason she should be writing romance novels. Then again, she shouldn't need a calculator to add two numbers, either ... but she does.

I think Aimee Laine is becoming one of my faves. I loved her Hide & Seek (Games of Zeus #1) and I have to say that I definitely love this one too! I signed up up for Aimee’s Surrender Blog tour and Giveaway for next week so I had to get this one under my belt quick. I figured since I liked Hide & Seek I would like these and I wasn’t wrong. So that’s right. You have to go to http://nicsquared.com next Monday to see my review and sign up for a free read. It will be so worth your time and effort. Believe me! This definitely is one to put on your TBR list!!

This starts off right away interesting. Grabs your ass right away and does not let go until the end and leaves you jonesing for the next book. I love the characters. All of them are complete and don’t leave you wondering what the hell is going on and where in the hell anything came from. I can’t wait to get my hands on the whole series. I want to find out everyone’s stories! But now back to Charlie and Wyatt. You know me, Adult ADD. I flop around like a fish out of water…

When we meet Charlie she is on the eve of her birthday and trying to make it home in time. What she doesn’t expect is to end up in a ditch with her match/mate knocking at her door to make sure she is OK. Her good friend James extricates her from the ordeal, giving Wyatt another year to mature before Charlie meets up with him again.

The following year she enrolls in Wyatt’s school as a senior, same as him, as an exchange student. They quickly become an item and spend as much time together as they can. At the end of the period she arranges she leaves him heartbroken, midnight at the prom, on both of their birthdays. Thinking that is all in his best interests. Giving him more time to grow and get in all of his experiences that he wouldn’t have if she were to blend with him.

Sixteen years later, fate or something, intervenes. Charlie finds her self face to face once again with Wyatt. Only he doesn’t know who she is. She is a shape shifter and she took on a different exterior when she was a senior to meet Wyatt that third time. She’s been hired to help Wyatt, he is a director in the FBI, on a case. He ends up finding our who she is and they reconnect. Charlie’s got some ‘splaining to do. And this is the last time she can be allowed to blend with Wyatt or run the risk of losing him forever…

Charlie is a sweet, hard ass. Wyatt is just plain delicious. A caring individual, but still a hard ass himself…except where Charlie is concerned for the most part =) The rest of Charlie’s “family is Lily, James, Cael, and Chase. You get to know all of the characters pretty well without having their own complete stories. Which just adds to the suspense of waiting for the next books to find out what they are. Surrender is the second in the series and will revolve around Lily. I can’t wait to start her story!!

So in short, buy the damn book! You will thank me.

As a beta reader for Ms Laine, I’m one of the lucky few who have had the privilege of reading this pre-publication. Anyone who knows me understands that I care a lot less about the females of a novel (even if they’re the MC) than I do about the males. If I can’t connect with the main male, then you’ve already lost me.
Did Little White Lies deliver on this?
Oh, you betcha!
Not only did I find myself rooting for Wyatt, but also had an enormous soft spot for a secondary male character (of course, those secondary male characters are always helpful for drawing the readers in so they don’t get peeved when the main guy falls in love and lives happily ever after, and leaves the reader with no hope of the shebang they have going on in their head, which oddly doesn’t have the female MC in the vicinity … and I’m rambling).
Back to business:
Wyatt is just lovable, yet strong, and tender, yet dominant—just the right dose of masculine in touch with his caring side.
Charley plays a powerful role for the female MC, and it’s through her instinct to take the lead that we see Wyatt’s character in full force in how he deals with her and whatever situation they’re thrown into.
From the opening page, this has tension, excitement, and enough of a fast pace to drag your arse along on Charley’s ride, and the story in its entirety deals with adventure, fear, emotions running high, love, soul mates, uncertainty & surety … well, I think that’s enough to go on, otherwise I’ll end up giving you all spoilers, and we don’t want that.
I do have one last thing to say, though: Read it. Love it. And expect to yearn for more from this author.
Would 100% recommend.

I’ve had the pleasure of reading a few works of the wonderfully talented Aimee Laine, and this one didn’t disappoint. Anyone who loves a sweet romance will eat this up and lick their fingers clean when they’re done. Charley is a strong heroine, something I look for in everything I read, and Wyatt is equally strong, purely good and yummy enough to star in a fantasy or two. ::cough::

The twist on shifters is a fresh one, the strong story builds naturally and the sexual tension between Charley and Wyatt will make you squirm in your seat. The supporting characters are a great addition and make me want to know more about them. Definitely a must read for paranormal romance lovers.

When I first saw the synopsis I immediately fell in love. Once I started reading, I loved it even more! The story itself reminded of the TV show Fringe, very intense and captivating.

I love Charley, a Mimic able to replicate any human female form. Charley was an amazing character, and I loved seeing things from her perspective! She was a fantastic narrator, and so fierce! I saw another reviewer thought of Mystique from X-men when comparing to Charley. I do see that but I think her personalty reminds me of Wonder Woman from DC Comics. The narration also shifts around to Wyatt frequently, and even to another character named Stuart at one point, and I have to say that loved that it shifted to Stuart, it made that part of the book super mysterious! And I love a book that traps me in because of a mysterious character!

The story itself is a literal race against the clock - the secrecy and fate of Charley's extended existence is on the line. Starting on page one, my heart beats start, and I eagerly read on to find out.

It was a fun journey watching Charley and Wyatt's relationship grow, changed, mold and be challenged by circumstances beyond their control. The ending does not disappoint.

Furthermore, I loved the backstory for Charley, and the other Mimics as they called themselves.

Another interesting thing about Little White Lies was how it was organized. The book is split up between three different times where Charley has 'encountered' Wyatt, and I honestly loved that. I didn't expect that at first, but I thought it was a fantastic way to tell this story.

This book is full of action, it's embedded with mystery, and it's emotional all the way through. I definitely recommend this book to others. It was a fantastic story, and I think that fans of paranormal (and even fans of contemporary) will thoroughly enjoy it, it's versatile like that. ;) Aimee Laine has written an amazing story, and I encourage you to get yourself a copy as soon as possible.

5 out of 5 stars.

If you enjoy paranormal romance, shape-shifters and secret government ops, you'll love Aimee Laine's Little White Lies. Told in the third-person, Little White Lies is about the "mimic" Charley Randall and her long-time love interest Wyatt Moreland. Mimics are true shape-shifters: they can take the shape of any person (and sometimes animal, depending on the Mimic) they see. Charley Randall has been shifting for over 200 years, using her talents and skill to aide in government operations, like combating child trafficking. She's made quite a name for herself and is generally sought-after.

Little White Lies begins at a heart-stopping pace, with a race to beat the clock up a mountain (yes, UP a mountain). It's immediately intriguing and captivating and held me from the first page. Charley is completely my kind of protagonist: sassy, independent, loving. Wyatt is masculine, smart and caring (who likes dumb characters anyway?). And Laine also gives us beautifully fleshed-out secondary characters whom you want to know more about: James, Lily, Cael, Maggie... I really want to know the story behind James!

There were a couple of things I was unsure about that disrupted the flow of the story a little for me. In one instance, Wyatt's mother has a different last name than he does, but I don't recall that being explained in previous pages. You also have to wait through about 50% Little White Lies to get details on mimics and their shifting abilities and limitations. Because of this, throughout the first half of the novel, I was left with a lot of questions and somewhat confused. However the story is told well enough that you want to keep reading it regardless of that.

Overall, if you enjoy paranormal romance and shape-shifters, you will really like this book. It's enjoyable, keeps a fast-pace and I definitely recommend it!

If you like classic romantic books this one is for you. The back and forth or self-doubt between the lovers, the many obstacles in their way of just coming out and being honest with themselves, another jaded set of lovers in the mix... this book has it all. The sexual interludes and language are done in a fashion that a younger adult might find it to their liking as well. While my dirty old mind wanted a little more steam, the love factor still existed.

If I had to pick out one thing I didn't care for, I'd say the transition from teenager to adult in the language... it still seemed like they were in high school chewing bubble gum in some points when the characters (well, Charley's a lot older) are supposed to be in their middle thirties.

Still, I'd recommend it as a good fast read. :)

I am thrilled to own an autographed copy of my friend Aimee's first published book! I hope many more will follow! :)

Little White Lies has a little bit of everything and it kept me overall interested and entertained. The first chapter was confusing at first, so I had to re-read it. While I still didn't quite "get it" until further along in the book, it is impossible not to like Charley and Wyatt instantly, even if everything isn't completely clear. I have a hard time reading (and finishing) a book if I dislike the characters (not including those characters you love to hate). Aimee does a wonderful job with her character development. And, the sexual tension throughout the book is like none I've ever read!

I think well-written books lend themselves to great debate. Possibilities, after all, can be endless. Aimee is a gifted writer and Little White Lies is well-written. However, I would have chosen a different ending for the book, with a different villain. It seemed a little forced to me, and I did see it coming. So I guess, for me, the "book-ends" just didn't work overall. Everything in between flowed nicely; there were surprises and a bit of the unexpected.

The mimics are a unique breed of paranormal, and they captured my attention. I am not ashamed to admit that I have read my fair share of vampire stories. I am delighted to admit that I find Aimee's mimics much more captivating than most blood-suckers. I especially liked the characters James and Maggie and look forward to reading their story someday. ;)

I could say so much more about Little White Lies...how I enjoyed the family connection of the mimics, how Sophie absolutely annoyed me, how good things come to those who wait. It's not a book I would ordinarily pick up to read, but I'm glad I did.

Had I not been offered this one for review I doubt that I would have read it and that would have been a shame. To be honest, the cover does nothing for me and I am pretty sure I have seen variations of it on other books. The title I think is a little misleading too. From the title and cover you would have no idea what a wonderful paranormal story is hiding in the pages! I think that this one could appeal to both adults and teens who like paranormal stories. There is a great romance here too.

Little White Lies was interesting in the way that it spanned so much time. You get a few stories in one but for me they all worked seamlessly together. Charley was a mystery to me for a long time, (if you are a frequent BD reader you know how I hate those spoilery synopsis’) but I was glad to find out what was going on at the same time as the other main character. Wyatt was great, he was not one of those guys that you sometimes find in books that is into the main character in a I-love-you-so-much-I-don’t-see-any-of-your-flaws kind of way. Even better than that though he was not a I-will-be-a-complete-jerk-most-of-the-time kind of guy. They had a great dynamic.

The supernatural aspect of this book was interesting, I have not read anything too similar. It looks like this one may be part of a series. If so, I am in to read the next one. I will caution that there is some sexual content in this one but it was mild and tasteful.

BOTTOM LINE: I ENJOYED IT AND I LOOK FORWARD TO WHATEVER IS NEXT FROM

WOW! This was an awesome story, read it cover to cover in ONE sitting because I could NOT put it down!
The main characters, Charley and Wyatt, are fabulous. I can visualize them in my head and feel like I know them personally. The supporting characters are amazing too. James, Lily, Cael and even Stuart each have their own story lines that intertwine beautifully with the main characters. I do hope we hear more from them soon. (Hint, Hint!)
I read a lot of paranormal romances and haven’t seen anything quite like this. I love that this is a slightly new twist on shape shifting. Wow- something new, imagine that!
Definitely worth the read, you won’t be disappointed!

Excellent. Just excellent. And this comes from a non-paranormal romance reader.

Ms. Laine's characters ooze heartache, passion, fear, and axiety. It's impossible not to be sucked into their world. Shape shifters, FBI agents, a high school prom, pole dancing, and mice... what a ride.

This was my first "paranormal romance". I had to get used to the shape-shifter idea in the first few pages, but then their personalities emerged and I really loved getting to know each one. This book has a good blend of intrigue and romance. Good read!

I loved the idea of this story, and once I started reading, I loved it even more! Charley was an amazing character, and I loved seeing things from her perspective! She was a fantastic narrator, and so fierce! The narration also shifts around to Wyatt frequently, and even to another character named Stuart at one point, and I have to say that loved that it shifted to Stuart, it made that part of the book super mysterious! I also loved Wyatt's parts. ;)

When I read the blurb for this story I thought of Mystique from X-men, and even while reading, the comparison didn't really leave my head. I loved that. I'm a sucker for the X-Men. I've never read the comics, but I used to watch the TV show, play some of the video games based off of them, and I've watched all of the newer movies that have been made. So, I'm definitely a fan, and I loved that this story reminded me of that.

The characters were awesome in Little White Lies, and I loved the backstory for Charley, and the other Mimics as they called themselves. I'm not going to go too into detail because I think it's more interesting to learn about them yourselves, so I'll leave that to you. ;) Oh and I just have to mention Wyatt, I LOVED Wyatt! He was sexy. ;) I loved him alone, and even more when he was with Charley. ;)

Another interesting thing about Little White Lies was how it was organized. The book is split up between three different times where Charley has 'encountered' Wyatt, and I honestly loved that. I didn't expect that at first, but I thought it was a fantastic way to tell this story.

There are sex scenes in this book, just so everyone knows, and I guess this is my little content warning part of the review. ;) Honestly though, I found the way that the sex scenes were done to be very subtle and while you knew what was happening nothing was overly descriptive. It was more about the emotional connection than the act itself, so I'm telling you now that it has sex scenes, but they aren't raunchy ones. :)

Since I've already professed my love for this book, I'm guessing I don't need to say that I loved it again (even though I just did :P), but I will say that this book is full of action, it's embedded with mystery, and it's emotional all the way through. :D

I took this one with me to Cape Cod this month and have to say that I wasn't disappointed. I found the writer's style easy to read and the characters three dimensional and endearing.

I have to admit, I did have some trouble in the early going -- I had trouble following what was happening from a backstory perspective. I felt for the first quarter of the book that I had missed something or that sunstroke had attacked me on the beach and that was why I wasn't following the plot. I think some of the secrets in teh book were a little more vague than I would have preferred. Coupled with not understanding the mechanics of what living as a mimic is like, well, I felt a little lost.

The author's voice and the personality of the characters I was introduced to is what kept me reading. By the time I hit the halfway point in the book, I was hooked. Charley is spunky and sweet, while Wyatt is just perfectly dreamy :P (dating myself with that reference). The secondary characters really fill the plot out nicely.

When we get to it, the romance isn't corny, but feels genuine, and I found myself rooting for love in a way a cynic like me hasn't for some time. The covert operations kept me reading and turning the page, and while I had an idea who the bad guy was earlier in the story, I didn't quite have the full story. The surprises were a nice bonus.

An enjoyable summer read.

A fun but challenging read. The author has an interesting writing style that took me a while to get used to. She assumes that the reader can "fill in the blanks" to some extent, and leaves a lot unsaid.

The story was creative, interesting and the characters were fun. I did get a little impatient with all the "secrets" that the main character was keeping to herself. Since the story was told both from the perspective of this character and her male interest, I kept thinking that the main character wasn't letting me in on what was happening, even though I was supposed to be following her.

I would have liked a little more detail on the shapeshifting, because the author did such a good job creating a [mostly] believable shapeshifting milieu for the story. There was a chance for some erotica there too.

I give this 4 instead of 5 stars because I think there were a few missed opportunities. However, the book was very enjoyable. I'm certainly up for the sequel. I recommend this well-edited work without reservations.

I just finished reading Little White Lies. I've never read a book on shape-shifters, but this one was great. It was fast paced, and kept me glued to the pages. The author painted a wonderful and detailed world of shape-shifters or Mimics, and a plot filled with undercover ops, shape-shifting, your not-normal birthday, love, romance, and twists.
Charley, Wyatt, Cael, James and Lily, were all wonderful characters, as were the others. As the story progressed, I began to love them more and more. James - I loved him. I hope to find out more about him in upcoming books, and I hope he finds his match! ;)

Wow! At first it was a little confusing and hard to follow. But once I got into it, I could not put it down. I look forward to more in this series to see what happens with other or new characters. I hope we can also keep up with Wyatt and Charley. Oh, and being a guy, I loved the pole dancing. But that is not kept me reading. I was really kept on edge, trying to figure out who's doing what towards the end. I would have liked the end to stretch a little farther, but I highly recommend this book and am going to read her other books too.

Really a 3.5 Originally posted at Once Upon a Chapter

Charley Randall is different from you and I. She has secrets that she can't share with anyone except those who are like herself. She works primarily for the government whenever they need to get a trained person into a tight spot. She's one of the best body doubles there is and that makes her very valuable. Charley has also been spending the past thirty plus years wanting the one man she can't have.

Wyatt Mooreland lost the girl of his dreams 16 years ago and he has been looking for her ever since. He didn't stop living though. He's worked up the ladder and enjoys his work. Wyatt has remained steady and is the type of man you can depend on. There's a problem with his latest mission regarding jurisdiction squabbles. He's been instructed to hire Charley Randall and her group. The FBI says they are the best of the best. Wyatt has a dirty job to do and doesn't like to trust people he doesn't know well. Charley's different. It's as if he's known her all his life.

Despite their very confused past together Wyatt and Charley have to work together to complete Wyatt's mission. They are drawn even more closely together when personal tragedy strikes Charley and Wyatt's skills can come in handy. They have a lot of history to work through if they have any chance of making a future.

Little White Lies can easily be the first in a series. Charley and her family really grew on me throughout the book. It was clear that they had to stick together and that they'd have each other's back if it was ever needed. Cael and Lily were my favorite secondary characters and I can't wait to hear their story. *fingers crossed*

Little White Lies was a little confusing at first and I think that's because I had to keep up with all of the explanations of Charley's species and all the rules that went along with it. It did make me understand Wyatt better because I was just as lost as he was! Laine does a good job of reiterating all of the facts and rules without being repetitive. It's like a refresher course when you need it. Eventually it all clicked into place and ended up being a breath of fresh air to my paranormal experience.

Laine creates sexual tension from the beginning and doesn't let up for a long while. It added to the book and I found myself really enjoying that aspect of it. While the story was original and I really enjoyed it there were some disappointments too. There was so much going on in this book with so many characters that it was distracting from the main couple. If you're a regular reader of my reviews, you know that I enjoy secondary characters a great deal. A lot of secondary characters plus a lot of action going on really detracted from the romance for me. My only other complaint is the mastermind behind the whole suspense plot. It certainly wasn't who I thought it would be. It seemed too much for me to believe but it takes all kinds to make our world go round.

Overall, if you're into paranormals with shifters of some sort with a romantic suspense subplot, you should really look into this book. I look forward to any more books Laine writes in this series!

This is a little harder novel to review than most of those that catch my attention by the blurb. I love romance novels about shifters and jumped at the chance when I saw this one offered the promise of something new in the genre. Usually I’m a love it or hate it type of reader when I start a novel. I want the text to grab me right from the first sentence and not let go. If it doesn’t—or at least fairly close to the beginning—I’ll tend to lose interest and put it down. Big maybe on whether or not I’ll pick it back up again to finish. So, with that said, I struggled with a connection at the beginning of Little White Lies. There was a lot of confusion over what was taking place between Wyatt and Charley (main characters) on that road that I felt wasn’t necessary to make this the awesome novel it turned out to be. Though the novel is told through both Charley and Wyatt’s point of view, the reader is basically kept in the dark as much as Wyatt about who Charley is—who she was to him in the past, and who she will be in the future. We don’t learn what is really going on about her sometimes bizarre behavior until Wyatt learns. If the novel were told strictly through Wyatt’s view, then it would be better understood, easier to be patient and wait. I kept hoping Charley would make things clearer through her part and it was very slow to come about.

The writing by Aimee Laine is fantastic, the characters well drawn, the action fast paced. Once I got past the confusing start, I sat down and read straight through to the end, my ‘do not disturb’ sign hung on the door. The new take on shapeshifters was fun, the rules governing their lives interesting. The plot wasn’t terribly strong, but the romance part is what interested me most anyway. It is difficult to tell you my reasons why here without giving away everything. The explanations given about the shifters made suspension of disbelief easy. Not all fantasy writers can make a story like this so enjoyable. By that I mean I wanted to be there, experience it firsthand, not just read about it. I enjoyed watching Wyatt and Charley get to know one another and I could easily picture Charley’s friendship with the secondary characters.

Bottom line, if you start this one and find yourself a little bit frustrated, push on through, it’ll end up being worth it, I guarantee. This would have been rated five stars with a less confusing start. Still, it is only one opinion and I’m sure there are many out there who may like being kept in the dark right from the get go. I’m happy to say all the uncertainty does get explained away by about half way through. Great novel by a talented new author and I, for one, look forward to reading more in the near future.

This book was unique in every way: the paranormal aspect, the characters, just the story line in general... just everything really. It was both refreshing and exciting to read.
Since the paranormal beings in this book weren't the stereotypical/kinda overused ones, the mystery of the book wasn't a matter of if they are affected by crosses this time or not; it was more like... um, I have no idea what to expect! and I loved that. I got to discover the secrets about the characters as they were divulged instead of already knowing everything and that made the book so much more enjoyable.

Charley works as a free lance agent for the government along with her lifelong friends specializing in infiltrating and finding out information. But that isn't the only thing that sets her apart from the rest of the population... because Charley is a genetic anomaly known as a mimic. She can make her body take on the form of any other female being that she wants for any day of the year except for her birthday. No matter what she is doing or how she looks or who she's with, on her birthday she is forced to revert back to her original form or she'll be stuck in her transformation for the rest of her life. The only way to change this is to find someone to blend with. Requirements: must have the same birthday (already a pretty tough feat), must know what you are, must be willing to stay with you regardless, etc. They get to control what you turn into in your final transformation and after you blend, you are totally and completely human. For Charley, the problem of finding someone is not the problem because Wyatt is the perfect guy for her, it's about making him fall in love with her. She's been around a long time (much longer than most of her species) and she knows that they are meant for each other, but she also knows that he needs to experience the world before she can come in to his. After meeting him repeatedly over the years (each time her being in a different guise), she finally enters his high school to give their relationship a test run, but she knows that it's still not their time, that she will ultimately have to leave again. With all the secrets that surround Charley and her "family" of other mimics, is it possible for them to find each other again? Is it possible to create a relationship with someone who doesn't even know who you are? Who has never seen you as you're true self? And when tragedy strikes in Charley's life, will they even get the chance to try? You'll just have to read to find out ;P
This book had romance, suspense, action, kidnappings, totally unique and interesting supernatural aspects, great characters, a great story line, and really it was just an awesome book. I'd definitely recommend reading it :D

Little White Lies (Mimics of Rune #1)
by Aimee Laine (Goodreads Author)
Synopsis from Goodreads

"When the government needs a body double for a covert operation, they hire shape-shifter Charley Randall.
Or will lies tear them apart forever?"

I won this book in a giveaway and had it in my to-read cue when I was given the opportunity to read book two. My nutbunny brain for whatever reason did not connect the two reads. Well as I was reading book two I realized something was missing and sure enough it was book one. I started reading Little White Lies and have to say it kept me glued to the pages from beginning to the end. I absolutely loved it. I loved the whole premise of the mimic and am still pondering whether or not this is genetic or supernatural in origin. Charley is awesome and a gal I would want on my side any day. Wyatt has just the right amount of hunk appeal and he is genuinely a good person, which makes him even more appealing. The entire cast of characters is fun; they are loyal and strong and willing to get in there to get the job done while watching each other's back and definitely a good crowd to hang with. I enjoyed the writing style and while all is not clear at the beginning of the book each layer gets gently peeled back to reveal the meat of the story and a real tasty read. I am looking forward to reading more and immediately completed book two after finishing this installment. I highly recommend reading Little White Lies before proceeding with the series, as so much laying of the foundation of this world is in this book and it would be a shame to miss one little bit.

Publisher Type: Small Press

My Review:
And I thought I loved Aimee Laine's work before?!? Little White Lies blew me away!!! You might know from my review of Hide and Seek, that Aimee Laine's gift for verbalizing beautiful romance leaves me speechless ... and breathless!!! The love she is able to describe is pure fairy-tale and sweeps you off your feet.

Her leading ladies are the consummate balance of tough yet tender, confident yet unsure, world-wise yet unjaded. I love Charley. Loyal and brave, she's the perfect protagonist. Wyatt is truly melt-worthy; he's heroic, smart and honorable. The entire book is populated with amazing, well-developed protagonists. You care about the whole cast, not merely the mcs, and I suspect each of these players to have the spot light in future installments.

The world building is perfect. I love the creativity that has gone into developing these human shape shifters called Mimics. The Mimic history and personal histories of the characters were expertly unfolded throughout the book adding the the mystery and suspense. Instead of a big information dump early in the book, details are slowly woven into the story, developing the readers understanding throughout.

Little White Lies is crazy-cram-packed with action, suspense and mystery. When there's people out there who can completely change themselves into another person, who can you trust? I was sure everyone was really a bad guy in disguise. I was a little frustrated that our group of Mimics weren't near as concerned as I was about this. I felt overall the antagonists and their motives could have been better developed (especially a certain guy). Nonetheless, I was satisfied with the conclusion as it played out.

I took this one with me to Cape Cod this month and have to say that I wasn't disappointed. I found the writer's style easy to read and the characters three dimensional and endearing.

I have to admit, I did have some trouble in the early going with this one -- I had trouble following what was happening from a backstory perspective. I felt for the first quarter of the book that I had missed something or that sunstroke had attacked me on the beach and that was why I wasn't following the plot as easily as I would have expected. I think some of the secrets in the book were a little more vague than I would have preferred. Coupled with not understanding the mechanics of what living as a mimic is like, well, I felt a little lost.

The author's voice and the personality of the characters I was introduced to is what kept me reading. By the time I hit the halfway point in the book, I was completely hooked.

The plot twists and surprises were a nice bonus.

Little White lies is a story like no other. It is fulled with mystery, secrets and a unknown world. I have never read a book like this before and I have to say that I have not seen another book like this out there.I have to say I love my men in uniform and Wyatt is an FBI Agent who thinks Charley's photographic memory is the key to solving his case. What he doesn't know is her true identity. All Wyatt knows is that he needs her help solving his case.

When the two of them are together Wyatt feels like he knows Charley but can't remember from where he knows her. Charley has met Wyatt a few times in her lifetime but she is afraid to tell him the truth because he might not like what he finds out. The more time Charley Spends with Wyatt the more she falls in love with him and the more she needs to be with him.Wyatt is a drug to Charley but she fears that once Wyatt knows the truth he will hate her.See Charley is not a normal girl she is a mimic. She can mimic any girl and has but Wyatt doesn't know that.

Charley fears that once Wyatt does find out she is a mimic he will leave her and never speak to her again. With the case on the line what will Charley decide? Will she reveal herself and risk rejection? Or will she continue to live like a mimic with the other mimics? With the race down and time pressed will Charley and Wyatt ever become a couple?

This is s must read series and I can't wait to read Surrender to see what happens to Wyatt and Charley!

Although this book has received plenty of good reviews I struggled to connect with the storyline and the characters. The story is vague and it took me a while to realise the nature of Charley and her colleagues. The initial scene at the roadside was confusing. I liked Charley and Wyatt as high school students but the rest of the book didn't live up to it's promise. Charley's constant lies to Wyatt, even though they tell Stuart everything, really bugged me. Her behaviour towards him often bordered on stupid.

'Little White Lies' is the first book in the Mimic of Rune Series.

If you meet the man of your dreams but he isn't quite ready for a serious relationship, then what? If you met him again would you revive the relationship?

What stands out for me is no surprise--the love story. Adding a touch of crime, FBI, and the mimics makes an interesting mix.

Others of the series are: 'Misguided' found in 'Into the Unknown.'

Just realised that I hadn't reviewed this amazing book, even though I finished it a while ago.
I was gripped from start to finish, loved all the main characters and really looking forward to reading more from this talented author. Keep up the good work.
