In 1947 Chuck Williams arrived in Sonoma, CA with the idea of building homes—first as a contractor, later as the owner of a hardware shop and finally as the founder of the first Williams-Sonoma store for cooks. Half a century later that small cookware shop has evolved into a multi-billion dollar retailing leader whose products encompass every room in the home.

I got this as a wedding present and I've used it a lot! It's an alphabetical list of cooking information. You can look up just about any fruit or veggie to see how to choose a good one and how to prepare it. Or look up a cooking term like braise or chiffonade and see basic instructions. Meat cuts, storing cheeses, pans. It's just a food all-round kitchen reference, whether you're new to cooking or experienced.

I use this a lot...an excellent reference book for basic and advanced knowledge re: cooking/baking. No recipes in this book, but it's a great kitchen resource.
