Awesome. Just what I needed, going back to college after 26 years. He made me a solid planner and studyer. I have to go back and re-read some sections to reorient myself, but the book is super easy reading and inspiring.

I read this for a student development course at Brigham Young University. I only read the required portions for the class, so I didn't necessarily read all of it, and I jumped around in the book based on the topic that was being covered for the next class.

This is a good book with helping struggling college students to not only improve their study skills, but in giving ideas on how to have good time-management skills and explains the three avenues of learning: visual, audio, and kinesthetic.

The rating you give this book, I feel , will depend on the audience. In my opinion, this book is geared towards high school and college level students. I give it a 4 star as I found the focus leaning heavily towards on the "meta" aspect of studying (how the brain works, preparation techniques such as relaxation) as opposed to the actual practice of actively reading and note-taking (no mention of SQ3R or Cornell notes). With regards to speed reading, I do appreciate the author's no BS way of call ...more

Many useful study tips, but you will have to take it with a grain of salt and custom-tailor things to your situation.

If you like this book you should check out the various Ted talks on Youtube about what top students do differently. Those tend to be simpler than the overload of information in this book.

This book presents information really nicely. In fact it presents it so nicely that it tricks you into thinking you know them when you actually don't.

And of course, take it with a grain of salt b

“Study smarter not harder” can be called as my school mentor. Written by Kevin Paula student service professional, this self-improvement book is a key to my success at school. Long story short, if you want to make an improvement on your academic performance, you should follow instructions shown in this book. In my case, “Study smarter not harder “helps me ace all tests and remain as a top student for three years in a row.

It's a great book. Full of practical details. Step by step procedures. Just one thing to note is author is quoting the myth that we use 10% of our brain which is totally wrong.
