All I can say is it was free. The first half was not that bad, but it got progressively worse. I did finish it. Andrew and Michael are twins. Andrew is engaged to Elizabeth for most of the book. Elizabeth's widowed cousin comes to London to be her cousin's chaperone. She has been a widow for over a year but is still wearing black.
I began to lose interest after the Dr came and did the blood drip to miraculously heal her younger sister. Where has this author been? Has she even read a historical novel? Even when it was a common enough practice, it doesn't result in in a recovery the next morning. Chloe bemoans the fact that she can't possibly be with Alexander, even though she fell in love with him within the first week. Of course that doesn't stop her from sleeping with him. The first time they sleep together she tells Andrew she loves him. The next day she sleeps with him again and then breaks it off, because he is her cousin's fiancee. Of course she gets pregnant, and has to lead on a man that had loved her so much that he left town after she married her first husband.
Did I mention that Alexander stays engaged to her cousin, Elizabeth until the day before the wedding? Of course Michael steps in to marry her and then reader learns nothing of their marriage. Whether it works out or not.
And then the author spends the end of the book talking about the baby they had. Nothing is mentioned of Elizabeth and the reader is left to assume that the newly wedded couple were happy with their marriage.
I don't usually write so much about what a story is about since I don't want to spoil it for anyone. But trust me even though it was free and had a decent beginning it went downhill from there. Don't waste your time! It is drawn out and not really worth reading.

Romantic and cute. Unlike many a historical novel, the main characters didn't take forever realizing their inevitable feelings for each other. The hero, Andrew, was handsome, cool and smoldering in such a way not to be overbearing and still seem believable. The heroine, Chloe, was likable and overall level-headed though that cannot be said about her annoying cousin Elizabeth. And even though Elizabeth wasn't my favourite character, she and her story was mentioned often enough that I wanted closure to her story (a teaser for the 4th installment of this series).
Overall the novel was enjoyable, if not already-done (but what are romance novels if not cliche) and the last couple chapters (especially a certain scene by the grave site) was one of the sweetest of the whole book. Quite enjoyable read.

This is a historical romance. I found this story to be a bit different than others that I have had the pleasure to read. I liked the way the writer portrayed her characters and the interesting story she wove around them.
Mrs. Chloe Hawthorne, young widow, is chaperone to her cousin Lady Elizabeth for the London Season. Lady Elizabeth is betrothed to Lord Andrew Wetherby. Lord Andrew views this as a marriage of convenience with no emotions involved on either side. Lady Elizabeth knows that Lord Andrew doesn’t love her, but she hopes that they will come to love each other. Lord Andrew is a bit cynical, even though he’s seen his sister and his older brother both marry for love. He and Michael, his identical twin brother, both enjoy the bachelor life. Then Lord Andrew meets Chloe, by accident, at his brother and sister-in-law’s ball, because he steps on her gown while she is sitting watching her charge. Andrew is intrigued by the woman dressed in black with such a young face. Then he finds out that she is his fiancée’s chaperone. The young widow sticks in his mind and he can’t figure out why he can’t stop thinking about her. Chloe finds Andrew to be exceedingly handsome and she is quite attracted to him even though she knows she can’t act on it since he is engaged to her cousin.
I don’t want to give a full summary of the story so I will leave it here, with the comment that all is not as it seems and it becomes a befuddled mess with no satisfactory conclusion for the characters in sight until it seems as if all is lost…

An adorable little read, with enough humor to make me smile, enough tension to curl my toes, and enough spice to make me want another bite!
What does go on in the minds of really identical twins? If one is, say, the heir, with all of the demands and constraints placed upon him by society hanging over his head, and the other a faithful, observant brother with many of the same tastes, what will happen if the heir makes a single error, and proposes to the "wrong" girl, just to get the show on the road, as it were. In this particular case, things are a little complicated by the fact that while the heir does not love his fiancee, he does love another woman, AND, his brother (the "spare") does love the fiancee! The big question: can these men successfully switch places? If they do, what will the ladies feel about it?
While in truth the ending was a pretty much forgone conclusion, the trip was worth the journey. I enjoyed this book. It has very little blatant sex, with no gratuitous sex. The ladies are both adorable, the twins are both gentlemen, and all together, the author makes them dance through their lives in a wonderfully choreographed waltz.

I enjoyed this book. I thought the story was well written. The story of boy and girl become engaged for more convience than love, boy meets "new" girl and falls deeply in love is one that can at times be tiresome. This one was nice, neither one wanted to hurt Lizzie's feelings. I thought Chloe's character tried with all her heart to do the right thing, but sometimes love just doesn't let things play out like they are meant to. I would have liked for the book to have the truth come out sooner, and for Lizzie and Michael to have been in love, but I guess we'll see how the next book goes.

This is one of the best romances I've read in a while! The way Andrew felt so protective of Chloe got me right away. I loved seeing how their feelings developed almost against their wills. And then all the lies and deceptions just kept piling up until it became almost a comedy of errors. When will people learn to just tell the truth!
I'm definitely interested in the rest of the series about the Wetherby family.

Another Winner;
This is the third book that I've read by this author and I am madly in love with these books. They pull you in from the first page and keep you involved until the last page and beyond. I am looking forward to start the fourth book and hope they don't end for a long time. I love books from Beatrice Small and I've read almost all of them. I am very happy to have come across this Author. Please give her a try and you won't be sorry that you did,They are wonderful.

I really loved this book. It was a lovely light read and I was hooked from beginning to end. Jerrica takes you on a journey of two lovers who were never meant to fall in love, yet fate intervenes and unfolds a beautiful love story.
I suggest reading this one and then reading The bedeviled bride as it fills in some missing gaps.

What a little gem! This was a free download from Kindle so I was not expecting much, but what a surprise. I must have been in the right mood for this book because I could not put it down. This is book 3 in a series, but I was not lost in the story. I actually have gone ahead and purchased book 4 so I can find out what happens to the Twin brother. Great little find. I was actually surprised that this one was free. It was really good the storyline was actually engaging. Andrew was rather endearing even though he was far from perfect. I really liked Chloe even though she was yet another woman with issues. Overall the story was just sweet. The heat factor is nonexistent with this one but it's still worth reading.

The Wary Widow was a story with all of the good elements of historical fiction. I liked the character Chloe. The author made her into someone kind and good, with a touch of bad.. However, so is Elizabeth, her cousin. When Chloe beds Elizabeth's fiance, where do the reader's loyalties lay....

Lord Andrew is engaged to Lady Elizabeth, whose cousin Mrs. Hawthorne comes to London to act as Lady Elizabeth chaperone. Lord Andrew falls in love with Mrs. Hawthorne but doesn't know how to break his engagement without ruining Lady Elizabeth. Lord Andrew's twin, Michael, was in love with Lady Elizabeth. It was fun watching the four of them figure things out.

Lovely series
This is the third book of the series i enjoyed this story except I couldn't get my head around the widows poor background and her cousins place in society. In that day and age the poor cousins would have been looked down upon.
I love following the family through the book’s though so I well recommend this book.

I loved this book and the historical women with such strength and knowing what they want. I am enjoying the series of 4 books following the different families and their challenging circumstances.

In this story, deception is a snowball, growing fatter and faster as it speeds downhill.
Chloe, a young widow, has accepted the task of being her cousin’s chaperone for The Season, even though they are nearly the same age. Lizzie is engaged but still running from ball to ball as if in search. Andrew and Michael are identical twins, and that nearly leads to disaster.
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful story. Twice I scrolled quickly through love scenes because I just don’t care to read them. Superscript 2’s pop up occasionally throughout the ebook. I assume that they’ve something to do with editing, and they were distracting only because I kept wondering about their purpose. Like the characters, the plot falls a bit short of reality. I found myself laughing at the ridiculousness of it all, although I’m not sure it was meant to be comedy. Readers will have to make that determination on their own. I do hope they read, though, because it is an enjoyable book.

Twin men in Regency England. One engaged to a lady that his brother loves but that he finds he doesn't. He loves his fiancee's chaperone! Well they switch places in terms or romancing the ladies and the chaperone ends up pregnant by the lord engaged to the lady she is chaperoning! Got that? After the frequent trading of places they decide to come clean! A fun story with a bit of melodrama but interesting characters! If you like romance and Regency England I suggest giving it a read! I won't spoil the ending for you except that not all is what it appears!

Just finished The Wary Widow by Jerrica Knight-Catania. It's just your normal, run of the mill historical romance. The story is about Chloe Hawthorne, cousin of Lady Elizabeth Crawley, chaperoning Elizabeth for a season in London. Lady Elizabeth is betrothed to be married to Lord Andrew Wetherby. Lord Andrew and Chloe find that there is a mutual attraction between them but do not act upon it because he is betrothed. However, Lady Elizabeth is seen with another gentleman who wishes to gain her favor.
I have to say that I expected more out of this book, story wise and in the way it was written overall. There wasn't enough of a character arch/development which then made me feel like the characters were thrown into the book, then put together in some scenes, then there was love and marriage.
Biggest gripe: Character developments were too shallow and too quick.
Biggest plus: Lady Elizabeth wasn't evil and mean and she and Chloe actually got along rather than having some weird jealousy/hate toward one another.

I do not usually enjoy stories where one person is already in a relationship at the beginning of the story. I know it should make me feel better to know that two people married for love instead of settling for a lackluster mediocre union.
I was annoyed at what all it took for Andrew to finally decide on an socially acceptable way to marry Chloe. I think he was playing with fire by indulging his desires to be with Chloe before he had things totally worked out with her cousin. He should have thought about the implications of his actions.
If I am reading a story where there is some sort of love triangle, I like it better knowing that the person who is cast aside so the two main characters can follow their heart is a very unlikable character. In this case, I felt sorry for Lizzie. She was an unsuspecting victim in this situation who ended up with hurt feelings.
Although in time she will see that everything happened was for the best, she has a lot of feelings of hurt and betrayal to deal with first.

I have to admit I have not read the first two. I got his free over at iBooks and wanted to see if it was good. Setting aside some errors and editing issues, the story was pretty decent. I was like many others why was a 19-year-old that is not familiar with the ton or how society works would be a chaperon. However, I wanted to get into the book so I kept reading. I did not care for some of the characters and others were ok. I was wanting something good to happen to Chloë and glad she found love even if it was with Lord Andrew. No one can help who they fall in love with even if it is the wrong person. I would like to read the other two to see if they are any better.

Sweet and simple. I picked this up for my kindle,a s it was free and was pleasantly surprised. Nice little romanace novel. Not too trashy.
My main issue is that there didnt seem to be a lot of character development. This was book 3 in the series, so I may have missed some of that in previous installations, but the main character, Chole, could have used a bit more.
As with this type of book, there is a happy ending, but I felt that it wrapped it up a little too quickly.
Good distraction read.

Sadly with this one I have to give it a partial read... I hit the sexual encounter, found it a little to graphic combined with the confusion of identical twins switching their identities and the immoral choices and really skipped to the end for the conclusion. I did enjoy the first half of the book but I personally do not enjoy the identical twin switching that often crops up (could be due to being the mother of my own pair and the hope they NEVER try that on me) so if you are not too picky about that plot twist and enjoy a little sex with your regency, this COULD be the one for you.

For a book I ordered on a whim free from iTunes, this was pretty good. It might be a bit shorter than books published into paperback, but the quality is pretty much the same. It had better character development and complexity of plot than most of the books I find available for free or $0.99 for the digital version. Obviously not the best book of the year, but it was very enjoyable for a lazy afternoon when I was just looking for something to read by the pool.

Narrator: Sherril Turner...really, really, poor even bad narration. Can't do voices. Lucky the book told us who was talking cause she doesn't do any intonations at all.Didn't finish it.
Loved the book hated the audiobook. Wonder how the authors feel when narrators butcher their books that way? Tried twice to listen to it gave up and returned it for refund

Another free ebook! This was decent. I liked that she was a widow and not the typical virginal girl and I enjoyed the fact that he was an identical twin and how that was weaved into the store. I felt like some loose ends were left unresolved, especially Lizzie and Michael and how their marriage ended up.
