May 20, 2021In vol. 3 of the Grand Guignol Orchestra, someone from Lucille's past caught up with him: a deadly assassin who was a former friend of Lucille and was obsessed with the vocalist and his heavenly voice to the point of deadly possessiveness. Now in order to make Lucille 'his own', the cat-masked assassin was willing to do away with Lucille's current companions.
The characters are still awesomely designed and drawn and the story is still enjoyable. That's all I can say.

Royal Doll Orchestra 3: 4 Stars
[6.21 - really great]
This was an amazing volume. I wasn't the biggest fan of the first chapter but everything else was great. (except for a certain word that I will - sort of - disregard because I don't know how the original worded it and because it's been out for a while. But let's just say I don't want to read that word (not in a joke-y way like it was in here either) ever in anything. KAY? KAY!)
I am very interested in seeing where this story goes within the next two volumes.

Manche Momente fand ich ein wenig verwirrend, wenn sich die Gegenwart mit Rückblicken vermischt hat. Ansonsten wieder unglaublich tolle Zeichnungen, spannende Story und mehrer Plot Twists.

I have to say Kaori love betrayal especially at the hands of a trusted friend. She has major betrayals in many of her storylines and this one is no different. I don't want to spoil this one though.
This volume concludes the nunnery story arc and begins another in Duke Rhodonite's stronghold. The queen's spy, Spinel is there and she still holds a grudge against Lucille. Apparently, the duke's wives all disappear and Spinel is trying to find out why. Lucille is looking into the activities of a secret organization that might try to move against the queen and that the duke might be involved. The duke also collects macabre statuary that resemble the guignols.
It's hard to review this without spoiling things. Let's leave it at Eles finds out a lot about Gwindel and Lucille's history as well as some of the history between Lucille and Spinel. She also learns what Lucille really is. It's an interesting storyline but there are still these odd jerks and jumps in the story that are confusing (and also present in most of her work so I doubt it's translation error). Over all I still like it and this volume is particularly creepy.

On en sait maintenant un peu plus sur ce que recherche Rutile et c'est au tour de gwindel de commencer a nous livrer son secret, Il ne nous reste plus qu'à entrevoir pour qu'elle raison Kohaku fait parti de cet orchestre !!!!!!! On sait maintenant d'ou vient le virus qui infecte les "guignols" et l'histoire de se compliquer encore un peu plus.....

*shiver* Even knowing it's coming, this issue actually legitimately gives me a few creeps and chills. We take a bit of a side-step away from Lucille and Celes, to delve into the backstories of two other characters and there's some fascinatingly disturbing stuff there.. Love the pacing of this series. <3

ehhh. this kind of lacks the over the top crack i enjoy in kaori yuki's work. idk whether i'll be bothered finishing it. 2 stars
