Aggie's Boys #1

The Forty-Year-Old Virgin Witch

Rate this book
Aggie is a witch in hiding from her coven and the magickal world at large, after her virginity contract was sold at birth to an incubus; a sex demon who would surely kill her during the inheritance ceremony.
Now turning forty, her magick is tired of being contained, and attracts the attention of a few nearby supernaturals, all vying for her Karl, a grumpy, self-effacing vampire who fusses like a mother hen, Luka, a rowdy werewolf with golden retriever energy, and a player warlock with a pet hawk. If they can sense her, then surely her jilted betrothed can as well.
And they aren't about to let Aggie go without a fight.

I thought it would be cute from the cover and blurb. Thankfully it was short because it got a bit annoying. Three guys, Luka the wolf, Quinn the Warlock and Karl the vampire. I think the only character I liked was Damon. I don’t get why the main character decides to take a walk alone when there’s danger. At that point it was time to meet the bad guy with the trash mother. It started off interesting but the bickering and virginity got old quick. Not one I’ll be continuing.

Needs Editing

Picked this book up during the Stuff Your Kindle event. Wasn't sure what to expect. On board immediately with a middle-aged witch whose powers are stunted. A witch that is a virgin because that's how she gets her full powers. Sure. The personalities of the vampire, werewolf, and warlock are predictable and a bit dull. Cold vampire. Hot headed and goofy werewolf. Sly warlock. But what really bugged me was the slip ups. Wrong names in wrong places. A chapter in Quinn's POV was labeled for Luka. The final chapter has the wrong name unless somehow Karl is referring to himself as a warlock now. I'm guessing the author changed character names at some point and didn't go back through. That and the odd insta-attraction / insta-mate deal just soured it for me.

Now there was a third gorgeous man in my cottage, and I repressed the urge to giggle at my sudden ability to summon them out of midair. Perhaps I had more siren blood than witch? I suppressed the urge to giggle manically.
This started okay, good even, but then things took a turn for the worse when the author is trying too hard to explain how special and one of a kind our 40 yr old virgin witch. No I'm not just referring to the fact that there are 3 supernaturals pining for her, I mean that was basically the premise so I'm expecting that already.
Its that the antagonist is created solely to make the Aggie so special that the plot just doesn't make sense. I felt like along the way, the author loses ideas and just go along with the story even if everything doesn't make sense anymore and the characters acting out of character - loosing hope and then getting motivated all in a span of minutes of monologue???? TF. Everything just to elevate Aggie to a pedestal she didn't deserve?

Aggie was supposed to be a a sacrifice to a demon, she is expected to be killed, so that the "council" have a reason to go after it. But ofcourse, Aggie didn't want that and so she rans away. So it has to be Aggie, no other reason! The demon went on a rampage and the supposed to be council didn't bat an eye?? Tell me something more ridiculous. lol. Also, everything would have been fixed only if Aggie just bone anyone and loose her virginity! but ofcouse! she needs to complicate everything and make her feel so special so she keeps her virginity - thus the reason of the title!

Imma stop now, because this is making me angry all over again lol. Now I know why this book is free lol.

Anyway, I won't be reading the next book even though this one ended in a pathetic attempt for cliffhanger. I just don't have enough curiosity to know and find out just how special Aggie is.

This is my 1st book from this author and I will never read another book from this author. Breaking trust with the reader is the ultimate sin for an author.

There are cliff hangers and their CLIFF HANGERS were absolutely nothing is resolved and many of the main characters are left in deadly peril. This is one of the latter.

When warned of a major cliff hanger, I hold off reading the 1st until I have at least 2 of the books in hand.

If it’s an author new to me, I try another book 1st.

Unwarned, I walked in cold to this one, so I’m warning others so they can avoid this feeling of dismay, confusion and betrayal.

The writing is thin and makes the story feel shallow. A lot of insta-love with no real depth for characters feeling the way they do. Very repetitive as scenes are re-told multiple times from every POV.

The blurb drew me in but this just wasn't executed well.

I really liked her charakter in the beginning but then it just evaporated? I thought it would be a funny read based on the title - which was my mistake but hello?? Parts of the story were also very random and in the beginning you had to read the same scene from three perspectives. Ugh

I’ll be honest with you, I was not expecting much from this book being that I had gotten it for free through a deal with kindle. Usually when I get a book for free, I don’t have the highest expectations. Though, even if I were to have high expectations, this would have exceeded every one of them.
This author had a way of keeping my attention.

I really loved Aggie’s point of views, I loved how the plot kept evolving, I loved the characters and their development. I look forward to continuing to read this series.
It does have a cliff hanger! But I’ve already purchased the next books. 💛 I’m excited to get started.

A witch, a vampire & a werewolf walk into a bar…

I got this book during “Stuff Your Kindle Day” & got it without knowing anything about it. It has an interesting storyline & was a fun short read. It left on a HUGE cliffhanger so I will be definitely reading the next book. Although there are many flaws in this book & it definitely needs some revision. There’s some miss labeled POV’s, inconsistencies in the storyline & many repeated scenes. 2.5/5

It had some inconsistencies and needed another round of editing. I can usually bypass a few editing errors in independent books, but this book had quite a few that took away from enjoying the storyline.

This was a fun story. Aggie avoids men some she won't come into her magic. She ends up meeting three men who change her life. Luka is lots of fun and I love Karl and his uptight ways. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I really want to know what happens next.

I did enjoy this book, it is an easy read. A little surprised by the sexual connotation, yet it was whimsical and engaging at the same time. I found it very similar to the Twilight series. I thought back then what a unique storyline it was when those books came out. I think all the characters are fun and she did a good job with all of their descriptions to the point where I could visualize them. However, someone needed to edit this before it went to print. I came across quite a few misspellings and mistakes.

Aggie has been hiding out from her coven and creating a life for herself, when one slip of her magic brings some guys to her door and turns her life upside down. I liked Aggie - she is fierce and I love how she can be both a little vulnerable with her guys and also be dominant with them. The guys are interesting and each are unique. I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2!

such a fun book, i’m really happy i picked this up, even tho i have some problems like: the switch of pov’s that sometimes repeated the scene most of the time, the instant falling in love and the fast forwardness of the pace. all in all it was a cute read, i already wanna read the next book

First in the Aggie's Boys sexy paranormal romance series set in a small village in England and revolving around a virgin witch in hiding.

My Take
This was different! And for an erotic ménage à quatre, quite mild. It also has quite the family feel to it with each of the men accepting the idea. Okay, it’s also fairly comic. That initial meeting between Karl and Luka sets the tone for the whole story.

Sure there’s some kicking, but it’s very mild. The real drama comes with Karl’s Elder and Aggie’s nasty mother. Jesus. That reveal about Varos’ other children was interesting . . . hmmm . . .

Storm is using first person quadruple protagonist point-of-view from Aggie’s, Karl’s, Luka’s, and Quinn’s perspectives, which allows Storm to fill us in on their thoughts, feelings, and backgrounds.

It cracks me up that Aggie is so nasty and proudly loves being a bitch. “It was what kept her safe.” I do love the sound of her cottage. A bit small for me, but it does sound lovely . . . and that garden!

Part of the sweet is how protective all three men feel about Aggie. Karl is so self-effacing while Luka has a controlled passion and Quinn . . . Poor Quinn is so confused, and he keeps screwing things up.

The culture Storm has created around the witches is both wonderful and brutal. It all depends on your perspective and greed. Aggie’s family is on the wrong side of their culture. IMO.

Aggie’s village is filled with old men — she reckons she’ll be safer. The downside is that the women seem to be desperate for any good looking guy who shows up, much to Luka’s and Quinn’s dismay.

There are quite a few prejudices that get knocked down, although Aggie’s mother is definitely worse that I could’ve thought.

One of my niggles is Karl’s age. It sounds like he was turned when he was still a child, and yet Storm mentions his having some experience with women. And if he’s been a vampyre for 50 years, then he must have been turned sometime in the 1940s although Karl states his mother was a single mother, raising him in the 1930s, which would make this story’s current timeline sometime in the 1990s. It’s probably just me, assuming the story is set in the twenty-first century. As for being turned into a vampyre against his will, that’s not how it sounds, earlier in the story anyway. Storm also avoided any emotion over the death of Karl’s mother, which did not ring true.

Another niggle — that made me hopeful — was when Karl realized Aggie had taken his curse. I gotta say, I wonder about how intelligent Karl is that he never thought of Quinn’s suggestion before.

My biggest niggle? Storm ends the story on a “convenient” cliffhanger. It was very annoying. It did make sense, but . . . ahem.

It’s a sweet romance as the boys prove their love with each realizing they can create their own pack/clan/family.

The Story
It’s Aggie’s fortieth birthday, and she’s still a virgin. A state she intends to keep. No men for her. No sirree.

Unfortunately, a bit of temper at the pub reveals more than Aggie wants known.

The Characters
Agatha “Aggie”, a gardening witch, has suppressed what magic she has for the past twenty years. Damon is Aggie’s sentient black cat, her familiar. Her bloodline is one of the original seven, from France. Vicky had been Aggie’s best friend back in her childhood.

Karl is a young vampyre — he’s only 50. His maker, Varos, is an Elder and four hundred years old with quite the reveal at the end! Jontavious had been a previous scion. Karl believes his mother might have been a witch.

Luka is a lykos with alpha potential and Mrs Halfpenny’s nephew. Most of Luka’s pack, the Tatra, is in Slovakia and Hungary.

Quinn, a warlock, is a mercenary kicked out of his coven. Ayah is his falcon familiar.

This is an English village where most of the men are over 60 and where Davie tends bar. Some of Aggie’s customers include Mrs Margo Halfpenny, Mr Edinboro, the widowed Mr Barner, and the cancer-stricken Mr White. The slutty Donna owns the florist shop.

The Gaelic witches — they prefer to be called druids — have plans. Róisín is the witch who was attacked.

The council is a group that terrifies supernaturals, although they are supposed to keep the bad supernaturals in line, to ensure every supernatural creature has the right to exist. Seth, the son of Samael, is a notorious incubus. Athene had been on the council.

The Cover and Title
The cover has a white background with a huge spiderweb. The title is in green with the author’s name in black following the contours of a pair of radii. The graphic of a pair of legs encased in horizontally striped green and black wearing black pointed-toe high heels with one leg flat and the other cocked, cracked me up.

The title is true, for Aggie is The Forty-Year-Old Virgin Witch.

I ate this book up! Granted it was a shorter read than most.

We find ourselves in a small, quaint town that is filled with primarily older people. Aggie is the town witch as well as the recluse who also provides healing herbs and tonics for the town. No one knowing her true identity or really caring that she lives alone and loves nature.

On her birthday Aggie decides to make the dreaded decision to socialize by getting her favorite beer from the local pub. Upon having an accident and too much overstimulous of people she leaves. Without the amazing beer. Only to find herself in front of a dashing vampyre. Aggie has avoided the company of men for a long time. But for some reason this one is persistent.

Escaping back to the safety of her house where her wards are in place, Aggie tries to shoo Karl away but the vampyre remains. She seeks refuge inside her home but to no avail because another handsome man shows up, with beer.

Aggie goes from zero men to two in the course of one night. We follow Aggie in this fast paced adventure as she tries to understand these new developments. Understand why she suddenly has these men in her life and why they wish to stay with her.

Aggie's running from a past that wishes to snatch her back. Will her potential love interests stay if they know the truth? Also why is Quinn the warlock so irritating? Yet attractive?

All four of our leads are yet to understand each other and themselves. But little by little our witch is casting a spell on the trio without anyone noticing. Including Aggie. Yet her familiar has already made things very clear. But alas we humans have to complicate matters.

This is a fast paced book and does leave off on a cliffhanger. But the next book is out and I am off to read it! I enjoyed the fast pace and the story. The comical banter between a wolf, a vampyre, and a witch had me laughing out loud. Not to mention the warlock who struggles with his feelings.

This series is also going to be a slow burn, but I am fine with this. Unlikely magickal beings coming together all because of a little witch who doesn't wish to fully embrace her heritage. But I feel like when she finally does. . .ooof. Enjoy the read and give the author some stars!

Aggie (h), a 40 year old virgin witch has been on the run for 20 years. Running away from her coven and her inheritance she has set up her new life in a small town with lots of seniors. On her birthday she goes down to the local pub where she lets off a magical burst of energy on accident which got the attention of a lot of people. Karl (H), just happened to be at the bar running an errand for his elder. Luka (H), was in town visiting his aunt taking a much needed break in searching for his mate. Quinn (H), was the only one sent to this town via a coven looking for the witch that sent off that magical burst. Now Aggie seems to find herself in a relationship with 2 of these men and a growing infatuation with the 3rd. But they have a much bigger problem on their hands the coven in search of her and the one she ran away from. It wasn't until one fateful night that her past finally caught up to her. Now one of her guys was captured and the other now have to figure out what happened to her.

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️

There were some editing errors that made me upset. One chapter that was titled was mislabeled and the last Karl chapter we referred to himself instead of Quinn.

With that out of the way.... I like the story, but the editing really made me not like it, you know? I enjoyed the instant connection between Karl and Luka. They seem to have a wonderful little friendship going that I would maybe like to see as more 👀. Quinn on the other hand is my favorite. He just kept trying to get Aggie out of his system by being with other woman. Which to his dismay did not work. I am curious to see where the story ends and I skimmed that first chapter of the second book but I am just not feeling multiple books lately. It was a quick read and its spooky season.

I love when a story gives us a heroine who's not in the "barely legal" phase of her life, still figuring out basic boundaries. The Forty-Year-Old Virgin Witch is all about late bloomers, found family, and the delightful chaos of magical suitors showing up just when you thought you were done with dating forever.

From the very first page - “That meant going out in public. With people.” - I was like, yes, deeply relatable. If you’ve ever debated whether social interaction is worth leaving your cozy home, Aggie is your girl.

Agatha “Aggie” is a gardening witch who ran from her coven twenty years ago to avoid a ritual that would awaken her full powers. Now, living in an English cottage with her familiar and a thriving garden, she’s spent decades suppressing her magic... until her 40th birthday. All she wanted was more beer, but one reluctant pub trip later and a minor magical outburst draws in not one, but three supernatural hotties: a vampire, a werewolf, and a warlock.

What follows is a lightly spicy quad romance with cozy magical chaos, fun banter, supernatural flirting, and a sweet exploration of a woman stepping back into her power, on her own terms.

The dynamic between the characters is playful and warm, though this isn’t a smut-heavy harem read. It’s more soft feelings and flirty tension than anything explicit. Think low-stakes romance with vibes over heat.

There are some editing hiccups- typos and POV scenes that repeat information- but honestly? It didn’t bother me. This is the kind of book you curl up with when you want something easy, charming, and just a little magical. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of Aggie’s adventures.

Tropes:
🧙‍♀️ Midlife witch
🧛‍♂️ Witch + vampire + werewolf + warlock quad
🌿 Cottagecore with magic
🥀 Found family meets slow-burn romance
💞 Reverse harem-lite (light spice, feels focus)

‼️ It ends on a cliffhanger ‼️

‼️My review may contain spoilers ‼️

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️

I got this book for free, could not find the info that this is a trilogy or else I wouldn’t have started reading this. That’s what authors do, they give you the first one free during a “stuff your kindle” thing and hope that you’ll buy the rest. I wanted a quick and cute story that I could read in between the tbr of arcs I have.

It started out to be an interesting read with Aggie the 40 year old witch, that fled her American coven because her mother sold her virginity to the highest bidder and he’s a demon. Now she’s been living in England for 20 years by herself.

One night, she runs into a vampire that follows her home and then a werewolf is on her doorstep. The cold vampire Karl and the silly werewolf Luka are kinda cute and Aggie thinks so too after a few days.

In comes the third hottie, Quinn, a warlock, that has been hired by an Irish coven to find out why there are so many magical bursts coming from this little town.

I don’t know if this story could have been maybe a bit longer and then all could fit into one book, but so much filler was added. Stupid decisions were made by Aggie, that should know better, and then you have the cliffhanger.

Don’t think I’ll continue this trilogy.

I loved this book because of the feistiness and strength of Aggie, the witch in question. I admired her strength and determination to stay hidden from her coven and from all things magic. But then she meets Karl, a gorgeous man and vampire, but also she meets Luka, a werewolf with golden retriever happiness qualities. Then an enemy enters, Quinn who also comes under her spell. So I absolutely enjoyed reading this, it’s funny, humorful but anxious as well, although it ends with a cliffhanger.

Fantastic fun

** Cliffhanger Warning! ** Oh my broomsticks! I love this book! It's a fantasy, reverse harem romance. There's a good amount of funny moments, fast-paced action, and interesting characters. There's a bunch of different supernatural species mixed in with humans.

I like how Aggie is a witch who has removed herself from her home coven and trying to escape the awful thing her mother sold her into. Luka is a werewolf, Karl is a vampire, and Quinn is a warlock. They make for a highly entertaining group as some of them butt heads when they're not all working together.

I enjoyed the plots, as each main character has their own problem(s) to overcome. The world building is excellent, too! I hope to learn more about the supernatural world in the next book.

Several typos, but nothing too distracting. There were a coup!e of glitches: One where the narrator was mislabeled, and one where the names were mixed up.

A witch, a vampire and a werewolf walk into a bar....

This was a fun read!

Aggie is a witch that lives in a small isolated village in England, collecting herbs and making potions to help the community around her. She keeps to herself and though friendly, enjoys being alone. Or so it seems. In reality, she's been on the run, and is hiding from her coven, after finding that her Mother sold her virginity to an incubus, whose magic may absorve hers, during the virginity ritual.

One night there is a game on TV and the Pub is packed with strangers, as she tries to make it to the bar, Aggie is pushed and shoved and loses it, releasing a burst of magic, that attracts a vampire and a werewolf. She soon finds that they are both drawn to her, and a very flirtatious relationship develops between the three.

A Witch, a Vampire, and a Wolf Shifter Walk Into a Bar...And a Comedy Ensues

We've all heard the premise before: a bunch of paranormal beings thrown together for some epic, world-saving quest. But what happens when you ditch the fate-of-the-universe angst and dial up the awkwardness? You get a hilarious, character-driven story that reminds us even supernatural beings have to deal with roommates, relationship drama, and the occasional existential crisis.

Forget dramatic confrontations with ancient evils, this narrative throws us headfirst into the everyday struggles of these supernatural misfits. We're talking about pantry explosions, awkward attempts to flirt, and throw in a witchs familiar full of furry attitude.

This is an entertaining read from being to end, and I'm headed to dive into the next book now.
