AAAAHHHH! Ugh. Waiting is the worst. I really dislike waiting. I just finished this book and I'm ready to read the next book right now. Ending books in a place of no resolution drives me bonkers. Clearly, I am loving this series or else I really wouldn't care about the next book.
This author is one of my favorite. I love her adventure stories the best. This one is mingled with a touch of fantasy and magical elements. There is a heavy dose of secrets and political intrigue. Romantic tension is swirling all over and driving me mad in the best of ways. I was happy to see the addition of Rhys's family into the story. There is a good balance of plot and characters which helps the story move right along. Obviously the end came too soon for me and I just want more. As soon as possible. Oh, and more kissing too, if all my dreams are coming true.
This is book two in this series that must be read in order.

This book was even better than the first!! I am so in love with it, and absolutely loved going to Cassia and Braeton's POV. And that ending! Nooo!! I think I've found me a new favorite series. XD

I've been eagerly awaiting this books release and counting down the days until I could read it. I love finding new series to obsess over. Is it hard for anyone else to write reviews for a middle book? I dont want to give anything away!
The story continues to follow Amalia and Rhys on their journey, they're growing closer, but Rhys is still keeping secrets that he worries will tear them apart, so he has his guard up. Amalia is still a likable lead, she only knows part of the story and so that puts her in interesting situations. The story also introduces us to Cassia and Braeton, so we're lucky to get two stories! I really enjoyed Cassie and Braeton and the perspective they added to the story.

Argh! This book left on a huge cliffhanger, and I’m cursing the wait until November for book three. I’m really enjoying the series so far, but I don’t think I liked this one as much as book one, and that was largely to do with Rhys. I want to smack him! I like a bit of brood in a male character, but he was taking it to the extreme, and there weren’t enough of the sweet moments that weren’t tainted by it. I was disappointed that he didn’t tell Amalia who he was before they reach Draegan; it felt cowardly, as it would’ve made things a lot better for Amalia if she hadn’t been blindsided in front of a crowd. He really didn’t trust her enough to believe that he could bring her around to wanting to help the people of Draegan? With her soft heart? ESPECIALLY after what the fairy told him? That’s hard to believe. I always struggle with these sorts of plots because the one in the wrong always swears that they love the person they wrong more than anything, but apparently not enough to be honest with them. It taints it for me, I’m not going to lie. I’d rather the plot revolved around them convincing Rhys’s father, or a sinister element from the chasm trying to keep them apart or something. I struggle with the constant lies, especially when someone trusts you so hard, as Amalia does.
Which, oddly enough, is the exact opposite of his sister Cassia. Almost from the beginning, she tells Braeton the truth about who she is, the king’s plans for Amalia, you name it. I liked her interactions with Braeton, they were cute together. Cassia seemed a bit naive and silly, but so does Amalia for that matter. I wish the women had come across as a little more savvy; not the “I don’t need a man” kind, but just a little more wise to the world. Watching Cassia slay one beast isn’t really enough when the rest of the time she acts like a giggly schoolgirl. I liked seeing her perspective though, and also how her upbringing was so vastly different from Amalia’s.
It was interesting to see more of Rhys’s knights and get to know them. I hope that continues, as I like them all. And overall I like the story of the chasm and the two kingdoms divided by it. I just hope there are more/better romantic moments than we got in this book, and that Rhys atones for his screwups. I also hope Amalia doesn’t forgive him immediately, he needs to work for it. I hope Cassia and Braeton are shown to have more development in their relationship. Given that it was split between four perspectives, this book should’ve probably been longer, because their relationship seemed too rushed and I didn’t much feel their connection. Not enough to bail on your family, anyway.
Still, I think it’s a great story, and can’t wait for the third one. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC. All opinions are my own.

While I enjoyed the first book in the series, this book ramps up the tension (and the clean romance). While I like Amalia and Rhys, Braeton and Cassia were my favorite! Since they are actually telling each other the truth at this point, they are going about their romance far more sensibly. And Braeton is such a sweetheart!
I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens next!

Ugh, that ending! I’m forced to wait two months for the third book to be released and I’m not at all ok with that. It’s too long!
This is the second book in The Riven Kingdom Series and it was a great addition. I'm not saying it wasn't without its flaws, but I really, really enjoyed it. There’s not much I can say that wouldn’t give away the storyline, especially if you haven’t read the first book. So I won’t be going into specific details.
In this book, we’re introduced to two new main characters.
Along with Amalia and Rhys, there are now two more POV’s. I was a little worried. I typically don’t like stories with multiple POV’s, because I feel like there is always one character that just doesn’t interest me like the other/others. I get bored and I start skimming until I get back to the person I really want to be with. That was not the case with this book. I truly enjoyed being with all four of the characters. I never felt like I wanted to jump to someone else. The author did a fantastic job at balancing them all.
Being as this is the second book, I was also worried it would feel more like a filler. Most second books typically do. Again, not the case here. I think that’s where the addition of the new characters and their story came into play.
Was this perfect? No. Did it leave me asking why a certain female character didn’t question things more? Yes. I’m a woman, we question shit until there are no more questions to possibly ask.
Did I question why a certain female character made a very big, life altering decision with very little reason? Yes. I understood why it was important for the storyline, but it just didn’t seem realistic. I guess that’s why I read fantasy books though, I don’t always want realistic. Honestly, I didn’t even care. I was completely wrapped up in these characters and the storyline. I accepted what was and went with it.
I definitely recommend this book. November can't come soon enough!

I enjoyed this second book a lot. It was well done having all 4 voices telling the story.These are just fun light adventure books that are great for teen readers. Had I know the 3rd book was not out yet I would not have read this. It makes me sad because by the time it comes out I will not care and be on to other books or have forgotten about the first two books and not care to read the 3rd. I just don't do series for many reasons and this is why. It ends on a cliffhanger and just really has me ticked I can't read the next book. Oh well. I will hopefully learn my lesson this time to always check and see if the series is done and not just up for presale.

Loved this one just as much as the first!!! Fantastic fantasy series that keeps things sweet and clean but oh my, still definitely swoony! I am so enthralled with this world and the characters and the plot twists are keeping me on the edge of my seat!

Hi. This Sea of Starlight is how you write a sequel. It's literally the mind blown emoji in book form. I kept thinking we were at the climax of the story but then something even more dramatic would happen. And then the ending punches you in the throat. But... also... there was angsty yearning with a little payoff. You rarely see those sweet moments in series until much later. I just feel like this series, so far, has had the perfect blend of everything. Especially the beautiful descriptive imagery. Throw some Throne of Glass and Falling Kingdoms vibes in the mix and bake for 4(ish) hours at a comfortable 65 degrees. Serve with your choice of beverage. I chose tea. ☕

The second book in The Riven Chronicles picks up the story of magic, mystery, and romance as Amalia and Rhys continue their adventure. I have been waiting for this book since I read the first one! It had ended on a cliff-hanger, with knowledge revealed but more mystery than ever.
Amalia and Rhys are now trying to reconcile what they have learned and know about the history of their kingdoms and families. The questions all seem to be leading to Draegan, the cursed kingdom across the impassable chasm.. While Rhys is reluctant to put Amalia in the way of more danger and darkness, she is determined to go. Within Draegan, Princess Cassia is facing all sorts of trouble as her father and brother clash over how to save their kingdom, the monsters begin to close in, and the prisoner in their castle begins to enter her life.
This was just as good as the first one! I was so glad that this book came out! I think I read it in a day. I loved seeing Amalia and Rhys again and it was great to see some new characters too! As always, Amalia and Rhys were super cute, but still with the secrets! Aaaahhh! There were some times I wanted to shake Rhys and tell him to just tell her the truth. I understood his thought process, but ooohhhh it was so hard to hear both hers and his struggles in their heads. I felt so bad for them both. They were trying to figure out what had happened to the kingdoms, what was going on with their families, their relationship, and what to do about the words of the fairy who promised a solution to the division and magical calamity. They were growing, trying to trust each other and make choices to help their kingdoms.
I loved Cassia and Braeton! They were adorable! Cassia was a warrior, but she was also sweet and tender-hearted. She cared for her mother and her family, despite the difficulties. Braeton was a surprise to her. Yet, they had a connection, despite their differences and despite the circumstances. Braeton was also so sweet. Even though he was a prisoner, he was kind. I liked the opportunity to see Draegan and the lives of their royalty. They were trying to do what was best for their people, but there was so much devastation.
This book took me back to the Riven kingdoms! I was so excited to see different aspects of this amazing fantasy world, I appreciated how the journey continued, while also having new things to learn. It was exciting and sweet! I am enjoying the story arc and seeing the mysteries unfold, though once again I am left waiting for the next book! This is a clean fantasy book with some romance. I think that it is suitable for teens and up.

I love it when the sequel is better than the original! Yes, the ante is increasing as Amalia, Rhys and his men cross the Chasm between her kingdom of Renove and into the blighted and cursed kingdom of Draegan.
Now we are also adding two new POV with Rhys’ twin Cassia and Amalia’s twin Braeton, (the surprise ending of book one confirming Braeton, the future king, is not dead but rather kidnapped and in Draegan this whole time.
Both new additions are a charming counterpoint to Amalia and Rhys as our prospective couples get to know one another. The addition goes a long way to keep things from going stagnant with just Amalia and Rhys as we now know Rhys’s duplicity with Amalia, adding another twist to the who/what/where/when/why if it all.
This allows for us to gain an additional viewpoint of who the Draeganic people are and how dire their situation is in a sympathetic light. Sure, their king is despicable for setting this in motion, but we can see just how desperate things have become.
So while Cassia is falling for Braeton, who is being held prisoner, Rhys is growing troubled with every step of the journey that is bringing him closer home with an unsuspecting Amalia in tow, first through the Chas and then on board a ship sailing across the inland sea.
We’ve now left Gage, Kent and Ember behind and are meeting some new characters, learning a bit more about the men in Rhys’ group and enjoying the building tension as the Draeganic king turns out to be partially right, but just hasn’t quite worked out the seating arrangements for all of the players.
While Amalia learn who Rhys is along the way, or will be leave her clueless until the secret inevitably spills out? Will she forgive him for his part in the deception and does a romance between Cassia and Braeton have a hope of even blooming as long as Braeton is held hostage?

You're a jerk.
Honestly, you say that you love her, but you don't respect Amalia enough to tell her the truth? It's not *love* to tie her to you through lies and half-truths, letting her believe that you're a completely different person than you are. Oh, I believe that you believe that you're protecting her from your father's plot, but in denying her the agency to make her own decisions in possession of a full understanding of what's happening, you're treating her more like a possession that you don't want to lose than a person you want to stand side-by-side with through life. And by lying about your relationship and asking her to lie to the others, you're certainly not showing her that you treasure her. She may be naïve, but she's definitely going to see your betrayal for what it is. Lies always come out. You're lucky your brother appears to be a more honest man than you are.
Take some notes from your sister. Cassia isn't hiding information from Braeton; they take risks and rewards into account together, and together decide what they're going to do. Each is willing to sacrifice their own happiness for the other's well-being. (They're the ones who earned the four stars for this book, not you.)
I hope you get your head on straight soon, Rhys, because as far as Amalia's concerned everything you've ever said to her was probably a lie; you've deeply betrayed her trust, and may as well have totally abandoned her in the heart of enemy territory.

I binge-read this series so I don't really have a review for each book. The plan was to pause between each book and write a review, but I just kept picking up the next book and reading it instead! Obviously, I loved this series! I was in the mood for a fantasy series, and this one was perfect for my mood! And I loved that all 4 books in this series have already been written so I was able to binge-read the series!
These books had lots of great characters, but I loved Rhys and Amalia the most! There's a chasm dividing their worlds, and it seems like their worlds are as different as night and day... but they are really more alike than they ever realized. And if they want to cure the curse on their land, they are going to have to figure things out.
(My only complaint about this series is that I would have loved a meatier Epilogue. I love a great Epilogue; I know that not everyone feels that same way, but I would have liked to know what happened with some of the characters - maybe there will be a Riven, Part 2 in the future? One can hope...)

The end of this book finally brings us to the fact that Rhys is going to get the smackdown from Amalia when she discovers his lies.
I hope I am rating this correctly? This new rating system seems radical. I want it at five stars?

I skipped ahead and read the first few sentences of a couple of chapters and could tell it was going to drag again and take forever to get to the part I wanted to see. It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of series featuring the same couple throughout its entirety. After reading reviews for the rest of this series, I think I'm going to pass. It's just not for me.
I skipped ahead and read the first few sentences of a couple of chapters and could tell it was going to drag again and take forever to get to the part I wanted to see. This book was so stressful to read and i stayed up way too late reading because I needed to know if everyone would be ok! 2 books to go. Don't do this to yourself without having the next books in queue.

Another. Cliffhanger!!!! Ahhhh! This series is so good and really sucks you in. I’m just kicking myself that I didn’t learn my lesson from the first one. I’m in no hurry for winter to come so as much as I want to read the next book, I will be patient and enjoy the ☀️!

A great continuation to the first novel. I enjoyed the multiple P.O.V's, and found the blossoming relationships to be enjoyable. This was one case where I felt like there was not much going on plot wise, which is why the POV changes were so important to the story to keep it moving in pace.

Omg!!! I need the next book to come out ASAP! This book is so good but definitely ends on a cliffhanger. Thankfully, the 3rd book comes out in November.
The book continues with Rhys and Amalia’s story, as well as introducing us to Cassia and Braeton, their respective twins. It was fun bouncing back and forth between Rhys and Amalia in Renove on their way to Draegan, and Cassia and Braeton in the castle of Draegan.
This story had adventure, magical creatures and lands, and plenty of chemistry and fun banter. I loved every minute of it!

So good. Original, dark with a contrast of light. Secrets entwined within a unique storyline of ingenious. I'm loving this series and have a hard time putting it down for school work.

DNF. I deeply disliked the addition of TWO more points of views. I really hate when authors start out with 1-2 points of view in the first book but with each subsequent book the number of POVs increases. I picked up the second book to see what happened with Rhys and Amalia (first book ended on a cliffhanger), NOT to read about not one but TWO other characters that I frankly don't care about. Another thing that made this a DNF was the fact that Rhys continued to lie even when it didn't make sense, even when telling the truth was the better and more logical option.

I really loved reading this wonderful book! I loved the characters and the plot! I had a hard time putting this really wonderful book down! I will be reading the next book in this really wonderful series!

This book already start beautifully, we have the first chapter from Rhys twin Cassia , so we can see Braeton thank gods , and them ....hahaha damn it the tarantula episode with Rhys ...hahaha made me laugh so hard .
Guys Braeton is sooo romantic I’m serious, that made me blush , and I normally only blush to really dirty things hehehe and that moment was so sweet that gave me diabetes, I’m grateful too that Cassia is more honest than Rhys she didn’t made Braeton be a fool and think she is someone she isn’t.. you know normally I don’t like when we have chapters with the second lead couple view, it’s normally bothers me , why? Well Idk either hahaha but Braeton and Cassia didn’t bored me , they are so intriguing that I was anxious for theirs chapters like I was with the ones with Rhys and Amalia .
In this book I liked too that we can see how Rhys is ...desperate , he knows he is the heir and he has to marry Amalia but , he just doesn’t have the balls to tell her , he lie and lie...he got crazy ideas how to continue deceiving her and how to prevent her marrying his older brother, you know guys in this book we can see he digging his own grave because he is so afraid of what she’ll think of him . He really got in my nerves , he is fooling her in a way that ....damn he is a asshole , I’m serious he married her guys , a horrible marriage, he didn’t even kissed her !!! He doesn’t even try to explain himself anymore ....I’m really pissed .
Another thing bothered me in this book , why the hell you have a Wolfdog if when you go in danger she don’t protect you ? Ok ok but I’m middle pissed because The author made Ember so ...damn even my cat is more protective than Ember , why you do a character that will be only left behind ? This is really not cool .
It’s unbelievable how Rhys pass most part of the book , for most part I mean all the book, still fooling Amalia , I’m serious if she , when obviously discovers that he lied so much , she just forgive him easily I’m going to be really pissed . One more thing that really got in my nerves ....Amalia isn’t a badass yet , to say the truth she is a damsel in distress...argh I’m a really patient person but ...we are already in the second book for gods sake , she could at less start learning...but no ...she pass more part of the book being a burden.
I won’t lie I couldn’t even appreciate the romance between Amalia and Rhys I’m this book because it was so tainted with his lies , but in the good side the things between Cassia and Braeton was so good , they didn’t lie , that was a good romance and I felt compensated...but I’m really angry how the things between Amalia and Rhys are going , I don’t thing I like Amalia much anymore she is so idiotic I’m serious all the proofs are there she is just dumb , I don’t even say innocent or naive anymore the truth is that she is a dumb sh*t...and Rhys ? He is a coward and a liar .
The books ends in another motherf*cker cliffhanger and I’m so pissed that I’m no sane enough to begin the next one , I’m soooooooo ANGRY that Amalia is weak Ehys is a f*cking coward ...I really expected more from this book , the first was so good but this one ? I’m really impressed I could finish seriously, I just finished because of Cassia and Braeton ...maybe I’ll read the next one ...some day when I’m less livid , I’ll give this one 3 starts just because of Cassia and Braeton .

This might be even better than the first book, because we got two new POVs: Cassia and Braeton.
Amalia's twin brother Braeton is captured by the Draegans, as we already learned in the previous book, and Rhy's sister Cassia wants to take care of the prince\prisoner when she finds out that he fell ill with the sickness that is killing people left and right in Draegan.
And, expectedly, they immediately like each other, because you guessed it, they are destined for each other, as we learned from a fae at the end of the first book.
Loved them both, by the way.
As for Rhys and Amalia, they continue their advantures. After learning that Braeton is alive in Draegan, Amalia decides to go beyong the Chasm and save his brother. Seeing that, Rhys realizes once they are in Draegan, Amalia will be captured by the king, Rhys' father, and be forced to marry Rhys's half older brother Edwin, if she wishes to save her Braeton's life.
SPOILERS AHEAD
So, Rhys makes his own move and marries Amalia.
Amalia'a naive behavior can get annoying from time to time, but let's be honest. We can't really criticize Amalia on that front. Rhys keeps so many secrets from her. She knows very little, indeed.
But she used a weapon successfully and killed a monster in this in book, which makes me feel hopeful for Amalia'a character growth in the upcoming books.
At the end of the book, Amalia finally leaned that Rhys is a prince of Draegen, by the way, so I am excited for what is to come, relationship-wise, mainly because Cassia was engaged to one of Rhys's knight, so her relationship with Braeton is jeopardy, as well.

Okay, so book 2 picks up almost where book 1 ends. Cassia is the princess and twin sister of Rhys while Braeton is the prince and twin brother of Amalia. Don't worry, it gets stranger. They are all born on the same date! Wha....?! I think the fae are trying to tell the kingdoms something.
At the end of book 1, we learn that 1. Braeton is alive (called it!), 2. The heir to Renove must marry a princess of Draegan. 3. The heir to Draegan must marry a princess of Renove. 4. Edwin is not the heir. 5. Amalia marries Rhys in secret. 6. The darkness is moving quickly.
Now, to continue with book 2. I love Cassia! What a powerhouse. She's spunky, sassy, and can hold her own. Braeton is very much like Amalia. And that's not a bad thing. I am totally drawn to Rhys though.
The two work together to figure out how to help both kingdoms while falling hard for each other. Their coming together is like a blossoming flower. Delicate, sweet, and precious.
We don't forget Amalia and Rhys though! They are still on their way across the Chasm and into the Draegan kingdom.
I like this one a lot. However, there's not much progress with all of Rhys' lies and the fate of the kingdoms. Nothing happens with Edwin not being the heir. Although, there are plenty of new creatures for our party to fight, and that keeps things SUPER interesting. I like seeing all the magic being drawn to Amalia but I would love to know why.
On to book 3!
