Now that Uruka and Nariyuki got paired off, it’s time for Rizu’s version of the ending. Here we focus on Nariyuki and Rizu in college, but the latter’s biggest female fan, Sawako, is along for the ride (plus an extremely mischievous ghost).

Well, this was the denouement I was least excited about, if I’m being honest. Of all the girls in We Never Learn, I feel like Rizu was the one where the story had the least idea of what to actually do with her, besides zero in on her breasts.

Which is kind of where this story goes (this series never skimps on its fan service) and they try to bring back the board game angle to some success. I will give the author credit - they dig up some seriously deep cuts when doing these wrap-up stories that don’t necessarily add much, but it’s nice to see a victory lap of where the book came from.

What’s odd is how much this focuses on a one-off story about a haunted apartment (I admit that’s a pretty great swerve) and Sawako, who spends most of her time bleeding from her nose whenever she sees Rizu doing something sexy (yet she has no actual interest in a relationship, it seems, which is an odd choice).

There’s a large chunk of this devoted to actually turning her into a full character rather than a sidekick and she gets a full on dramatic storyline (involving Rizu and Nariyuki) that isn’t so bad (if a little perfunctory), at least until you remember that this is a fantasy sequence and in every other reality her friends did not solve her problem…

Anyway, they get away with that and the little ghost causes a ton of problems and gets her own storyline and Nariyuki and Rizu fumble their way towards maybe thinking about considering being in love - Rizu’s dare is an interesting idea they could have done a lot more with if all the asides weren’t going on.

Which is why I am astonished that they actually nail, like one hundred percent, the moment when these two get together. It involves a fake-out from a past event that doesn’t go how anybody expects, leading to a wonderfully drawn depiction of Rizu and Nariyuki’s burgeoning feelings that brings them together with a subtlety I didn’t know this series had in it.

Seriously, body language like this feels so hard to draw and it’s a total show stopper for me. It is handily the best thing I’ve ever seen in any volume of this title and probably the best bit of visual storytelling I’ve seen this week.

Yeah, it’s surrounded by the usual goofery and tight clothes and perspectives that are designed for butts (and butts only), but it comes perilously close to justifying every time I read one of these and rolled my eyes.

3 stars - this is a series I read out of habit and enjoy watching be ridiculous but don’t especially love and rarely laugh at. Still, while Rizu make have gotten short shrift, they make the absolute most of what they do give her and it works about as well as one could expect.

Now that the main story has ended, we get a continuation in the form of a "what might have been" happy ending between each girl & Nariyuki

This one, it was with Rizu, who was my personal favorite throughout the series. There's something just so incredibly sexy about a short curvy (but not fat) girl who's well endowed and has short hair. The glasses are just the icing on the cake. So, the Thumbilina Supercomputer and Nari finally have their first (of many) kisses. They make it official by telling Rizu's Father, who already knew his beautiful daughter only has eyes for Nari. Then first Sawako, then Rizu are finally able to see the little ghost girl. It turns out, she may have been Cupid in disguise. So Rizu and Nari get their happily-ever-after. I really enjoyed this volume. Now, it's shown this is ending 2 of 5. So we get at least 3 more "what ifs", the question is, with who? I'd kinda like to see both Mafiyu-Sensei (who was my second fave out of the girls) and Nari's Senpai, Asumi. I'm almost 100% certain that Fumino will also get her happy ending, too. And as for the future, we'll, I think we'd all REALLY like to see a We Never Learn X Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs crossover that has been teased!

Worst route as a route, one that really struggles to justify its existence.

Rizu had great character growth throughout the series and really became someone who didn't need Nariyuki by the time her route came around. Though the romance felt super forced and unnecessary (and maaaybe even harmful to Rizu's overall growth), I loved the subplots that were resolved with side characters! Giving an extra star for those.

This one is Sawako heavy, which is kinda cool as we learn alot about her. I also like how everyone else at least makes an appearance, though what about Nari's family?
That was also one spicy kiss between Nari and Rizu! I'm enjoying seeing these different endings, as in other harem mangas I've read there haven't been multiple endings like this.

Ogata's always had the worst chapters and arcs, always getting sidetracked by hypnosis and ghosts and the like. But she gets her own arc here as the author has decided each girl gets her own arc where she becomes the winning heroine! Except... this arc isn't really about Ogata, it's barely about her, what a boring arc.

Didn't care too much about the two main characters' relationship, but the side characters stole the show here. Really wish we would have gotten more of that.

This story was such a beautiful way to conclude one way the story could've gone not only the main story but the side story left my heart pounding and in tears by the end of this life changing story

Por suerte no es una serie difícil de entender, porque viene saliendo bastante espaciada. Tomo 18 de 21.

Time for alternate ending #1... or 2 depending on which one you want to be true. Either way, this volume contains the ending where Rizu Ogata was the one who touched hands with Yuiga during the fireworks WAY back in volume 8.

It's really cute, but contains a lot more than just Rizu x Yuiga. Most of this volume actually covers more of Sawako's story and also includes Misao, the little ghost girl from chapter 111. Either way, there's still plenty of accidental pervy shenanigans to make plot things happen.

This series has 21 volumes.
