This was a YA contemporary romance story featuring a girl with a broken heart.
Everly was an interesting character and I felt so sorry for her; catching your boyfriend making out with your best friend would be awful, but for the best friend to then start spreading rumours about her was even worse.
The storyline in this was about Everly struggling to come to terms with what had happened, and feeling like she had no friends left as several friends had known about the affair and not told her about it. She then met Gabe at her therapists office, and they slowly became friends, and then more than friends. Everly didn’t think she’d be able to give her heart again after what happened, but slowly began to realise that things were different with Gabe, and that she could be happy again. The romance in this was quite sweet, and Gabe and Everly worked well together. There were a couple of sex scenes though which might not be suitable for younger readers.
The ending to this was pretty good, and I was pleased with the way things worked out.

I really liked the sound of this one, but sadly I was disappointed. And 2 stars might be too high of a rating.
Everly is a decent enough MC. Her inner monologue is a little rough, but I like that she was actively trying to get over the betrayal. Gabe had promise, but he seemed flat and the other secondary characters were all clichés. I didn't see the chemistry between Everly and Gabe and I think that's where I struggled the most.
The writing is all tell, not show. There were scenes that went on way longer than they should have because every minute detail was stated. That got old really quick. Couple that with pages of long paragraphs and no dialogue and I started to lose interest.
I will say that the open showing of mental health was nice. Anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder were all discussed, as well as therapy and medication. I liked that it talked about how feeling better could be a struggle and that you couldn't just throw some pills at a diagnosis.
Overall, I can see how this might appeal to other readers, but it just wasn't for me.

I could say this was your usual YA but it would have been unfair. If you do describe the core, it's a romance as you'd expect but there were layers of much more that made this reading more than pleasant.
Everly is going through a step in growing up in a way no one would wish. She has broken up with her long-time boyfriend after she caught him with her best friend. And it gets worse, because this said friend is now spreading rumors and truths about her, making her feel segregated from her old crowd. It's the worst breakup, because she ended up with nothing left.Or so she thought until she met Gabe in her therapy's waiting room.
For most of the book I thought Everly exaggerated a little but that didn't bother me as much as I'd have thought. Probably because it made sense that she was exaggerating—she was lost on how to deal with everything.
I think the best of the book came right from the tricks she learned during her therapy sessions. No wonder the author has majored in Psychology—which I didn't know before finishing the book but was almost sure. For certain, most girls dealing with a major breakup won't have the guts to seek professional help, and while this isn't a book for that, I think it's great that it adds to the reader a few mechanisms for coping.
In the end, it's not love that helps Everly, as most YA books on the topic tend to conclude. Finding a new boy is just a logical step on the way to recovery.
My problem with the book is rhythm. The first half was very good but even that wasn't as good as a memorable book. Now the second part... I confess I was a little bored there. Luckily, it's not a long book and it's a cute story. I loved Gabe and all the love he feels for his family, along with so many conflicting feelings. The plot was sensitive, it made me think, it made me feel but there weren't any fireworks.
So this is a good book, which deals with heartbreak in a different way from most of the YA's around. It'll be a fast read, even if the second half was a let-down, at least for me. This author has a very heartwarming way of writing and I'll probably check her next work.

Everly goes into a tailspin after her high school relationship ends in betrayal. She’s lost not only her boyfriend but her best friend as well. Her vision of the perfect senior year is ruined and seeing them together at school is almost more than she can handle. Already seeing a therapist for anxiety, Everly now has new issues to tackle. Meeting Gabe in her therapists’ waiting room proves to be a turning point as they start a relationship and offer support to one another.
What I Appreciated: The supportive family relationships were my favorite aspect of Our Broken Pieces. Both Everly and Gabe have parents who are loving and supportive and this was a refreshing change from the usual dysfunctional (or absentee) parents in YA novels. Everly’s growth throughout the novel was showcased well and I enjoyed seeing her progress as she worked to piece together a newer and stronger sense of self.
What Left Me Wanting More: While Our Broken Pieces is certainly therapy-positive, at times it almost felt like a PSA for therapy. The positive aspects and outcomes of therapy (for not one, not two, but three of the characters) were delivered with a heavy hand. Our Broken Pieces could have used additional editing. Not only was the writing all telling and no showing, but repetition was an issue. One example: the phrase “I can’t help…” (I can’t help but blush, I can’t help but laugh, I can’t help but smile, etc) was used no fewer than fourteen times.
Our Broken Pieces is an enjoyable YA contemporary that highlights family, relationships and mental health in a positive light.

Our Broken Pieces is a passionate YA romance, light, fun to read, and with a touch of sentimentality.
This book begins with the flip side to the usual YA happily-ever-after, found-my-soul-mate story. Everly lost her boyfriend and her best friend at the same time when they began a relationship behind her back. Now, she is battling anxiety and dodging them in the school hallways rather than fulfilling her dreams of senior year. But when she meets Gabe in her therapist's office, they begin a new friendship that, amidst the trauma in their lives, soon becomes much more.
I didn't have an all-encompassing romance in high school, so I'm probably in no position to judge as I'm sure it's all very heartbreaking and traumatising, but I must admit to being the tiniest bit cynical. I would make a horrible friend, because I would probably say something sensitive like, get over it, you're better off without them. Yeah, I know, I'm a lovely person. But sarcasm aside, this book does make Everly's torment completely understandable. So, I surprised myself by feeling totally sympathetic to her situation. And really, it would be impossible to dislike Everly. She does the right thing regarding her broken relationship, she takes the rumours and broken friendships it creates and doesn't retaliate, she is a good student, good daughter, good sister, friendly, and even volunteers at a retirement home.
This book revels in the excitement and Americanism of the last days of high school. Gabe and Everly are seniors about to graduate. Everly and Gabe connect amidst the planning and celebrations of promposals and last year pranks. There is an air of excitement, finality and the possibilities of the future. Yet set against this joy is the heartbreak and conflict they are both trying to control.
Everly and Gabe's relationship was surprisingly a lot of fun to read. Sometimes it's nice to sit back and read something light. Gabe's endless smiles and support of Everly was rather wonderful and Everly returns the sentiment by supporting him through his family trauma. However, the book doesn't shy away from some hard topics, giving room for both Gabe and Everly's grief and hardship. Their connection felt genuine, with many conversations and time spent growing a friendships before becoming romantic and physical. This book is a cross over between mature young adult and new adult, both because of the sexual content and the focus on the end of high school and transition to higher learning.
Our Broken Pieces is very pro therapy, which is great - though the therapist's got nothing on the advice Everly's sister Rosie hands out. I liked that while the romance is the focus of the story, this book has many other features including a great cast of secondary characters and it raises some important issues regarding friendship, family, and mental health.

PROS:
- Though Everly's situation - her boyfriend dumped her and took up with her best friend - was cliche, the book did a good job of portraying all the social and emotional repercussions.
-Though I'm no mental health expert, I liked the way the book showed that mental health is achieved and maintained through constant work, not just pill popping and "getting over it."
- The romance was sweet and very sex-positive.
CONS:
- I think this could have used more editing. There's more than one "right" way to tell a story, but this felt very narrated (aka told and not shown). I never forgot I was reading a book.
-I thought the characterization also could have used some more work. To me, the characters felt one-note: Everly the beautiful good girl/victim; the man-stealing best friend; the douchey ex-boyfriend; the mysterious hero boy, the spunky sidekick friend and sister.
-I felt at a point Everly's endless obsession with not getting the senior year she deserves started to seem a little entitled. Yes, she got dumped and betrayed. But we're told she's beautiful, she has a supportive family, she's headed to an amazing college, and she has a perfect guy just waiting in the wings to make everything better.
-The cover is really blah.

“Mille pezzi di te e di me” di Sarah White è solo l’ultimo young adult pubblicato da DeAgostini, un romanzo che sono certa che ruberà il cuore a moltissime lettrici, sia alle giovanissime che a quelle un po’ più grandicelle che ricordano con piacere gli anni del liceo con il primo vero amore e le prime delusioni amorose.
Il romanzo di Sarah White nasce, come altri in questo periodo, dalla piattaforma wattpad e so che per molti lettori questo è un deterrente che spinge a non acquistare il libro e passare oltre, ma vi consiglio caldamente di mettere da parte i pregiudizi e dare una possibilità a questa storia, sono certa che non vi deluderà. L’autrice con una semplicità disarmante riesce a far emozionare con una storia dolcemente romantica e dalle tinte malinconiche e commoventi.
Protagonista e voce narrante è Everly Morgan.
Everly è all’ultimo anno di liceo e ha fatto mille progetti di quanto sarà fantastico e grandioso il suo ultimo anno, il college l’ha già accettata e ha un sacco di tempo da dedicare alle attività extrascolastiche che adora e per progettare il ballo con Brady, il ragazzo che da due anni ama pazzamente. Ma il suo mondo le crolla sotto i piedi quando, nel parcheggio della scuola, trova Brady e la sua migliore amica che si baciano appassionatamente.
Un doppio tradimento che brucia come acido sulla pelle. E da quel momento la vita di Everly non è più stata la stessa. Del resto perdere in un colpo solo fidanzato e migliore amica manderebbe in crisi chiunque, e l’attesissimo ultimo anno si trasforma in una sorta di incubo.
Umiliata, ferita e delusa dalle persone che amava di più si chiude in se stessa, ma Everly è tenace e forte e desiderosa di reagire riprendendosi la sua vita, decide di rivolgersi ad uno psicoterapeuta. E proprio lì, tra le quattro mura della sala d’attesa, incontra Gabe.
Gabe frequenta la sua stessa scuola ed è un atleta di pallanuoto, non solo sexy da morire ma è anche dolce e divertente, inoltre sembra capire Everly come nessuno riesce a fare e dice sempre la cosa giusta al momento giusto.

I really, really liked this book. There wasn't anything especially unique about this book but I feel like some personal things in my life had me really relating with Everly. She was a broken girl at the start of this book in so many ways and throughout the book you got the chance to see her build herself up, with help along the way, and embrace who she wants to be and what she wants.
Don't even get me started on Gabe...he may have just made it onto my list of book boyfriends...he was amazing in so many ways.

La trama ha catturato subito la mia attenzione, ma la lettura ha superato di gran lunga ogni mia aspettativa, non mi capitava da un pezzo di trovare un libro che mi coinvolgesse così tanto da divorarlo in due giorni.
E non poteva essere altrimenti in effetti, avrei dovuto già capirlo dalla dedica presente ad inizio libro:
A Ed Sheeran.
La tua musica è la colonna sonora di tantissime mie storie… soprattutto di questa.
Sì, avete capito bene! La storia dei nostri due protagonisti è totalmente ispirata alle canzoni meravigliose di Ed Sheeran. Devo ammettere che Ed mi è sempre piaciuto molto, ma dopo questo libro lo adoro proprio!
Ma passiamo alla storia!
Everly frequenta l’ultimo anno di liceo e ha il cuore in mille pezzi, quello che reputava il suo ragazzo, Brady, e quella che era stata sin dal primo anno di scuola elementare la sua migliore amica, Elle, l’hanno tradita pugnalandola alle spalle. Avevano una relazione a sua insaputa e adesso Everly deve fare i conti ogni giorno con questa nuova realtà, vederli insieme, mano nella mano, in giro per i corridoi della scuola.
“Solo a ricordare quel momento nel parcheggio mi viene il voltastomaco. E non hanno nemmeno cercato di fare le cose con discrezione. Chiunque avrebbe potuto vederli. Sono rimasta lì, senza parole, a guardarli buttare via interi anni di amicizia sul sedile posteriore.”
Everly è stata ferita in uno dei modi peggiori, tutte le sue certezze sono andate in frantumi come anche ogni suo equilibrio e, complici gli attacchi di panico frequenti, decide di frequentare lo studio di un’analista, Laura.
Qui, proprio nella sala d’attesa dello studio, conosce un ragazzo, Gabe, dagli incantevoli occhi multicolori.
La loro inizia come una tenerissima amicizia, Gabe la supporta e la protegge dal dolore causatole da Brady ed Elle, ma è proprio passando più tempo insieme che si rende conto che quando sta con Gabe nient’altro esiste, ogni suo problema scompare, e quando non ha la possibilità di vederlo ne sente la mancanza.
” Non so quando l’intensità della nostra amicizia sia diventata qualcosa di più, ma so che è giusto così, anche se la mia esperienza in questa zona grigia è molto limitata.

Se volete farvi un’idea più chiara dello sviluppo della loro storia, ascoltate Ed e lui ve lo spiegherà! Lego house, Kiss me e Thinking out loud (cliccando i link troverete i video Youtube con le traduzioni) sono la colonna sonora del loro rapporto, io le ho ascoltate durante la lettura e ne sono rimasta rapita, il connubio tra le parole scritte e quelle cantate è davvero emozionante, dovete assolutamente provare anche voi!
Chiaramente anche Gabe ha una vita tormentata alle spalle, non andrebbe da un analista altrimenti, ma lascio a voi il compito di scoprirne le ragioni! 😉
Inoltre, non solo Gabe ma anche la famiglia di Everly ha un ruolo importante nella sua ripresa, fortunatamente è circondata da affetto e amore incondizionato.
Rosie ad esempio, la sorella minore, la aiuta tanto e cerca di rimetterla in sesto e di farla tornare la ragazza di prima, il loro legame è bellissimo e dovrebbe essere sempre così tra fratelli.
” Mi rendo conto che quando non mi sembra di avere la forza per fare qualcosa da sola, ci sono persone che mi vogliono bene in grado di migliorare la situazione e di aiutarmi a uscire da questo buco nero. Poco a poco ne verrò fuori, ma l’impresa è molto più facile se qualcuno mi dà una mano e mi sostiene mentre mi sforzo per raggiungere di nuovo la luce. “
Ragazze, Mille pezzi di te e di me è un libro bellissimo, scorrevole e appassionante. A tratti mi ha ricordato Ti aspettavo di J. Armentrout, Oltre i limiti di Katie McGarry e Forse un giorno di Colleen Hoover, libri che ho amato alla follia. Attenzione però, con ricordato non intendo copiato, ha elementi in comune con questi tre libri ma è assolutamente una storia diversa e anche tanto emozionante.
Non conoscevo la penna di Sarah White ma adesso so per certo che leggerò ogni suo futuro libro pubblicato in Italia.

Solo una parola, WOW! Davvero cari smeraldi, è tutto ciò che mi resta da dire finita la lettura di questo libro. Ancora una volta Wattpad ha dimostrato di essere un buon trampolino di lanco per gli autori emergenti come Sarah White con il suo Our Broken Pieces, Mille pezzi di te e me, una storia YA capace di colpire al cuore del lettore e trascinarlo in una storia commovente, tenera e capace di far innamorare come solo i libri speciali sanno fare.
Mille pezzi di te e di me è la storia di Everly e del suo affrontare la rottura dal suo ragazzo, che ha deciso di lasciarla per stare con la sua migliore amica. Quello che doveva essere l'anno migliore di Everly, il suo ultimo anno di scuola superiore, sembra diventare un incubo perché non riesce ad evitare gli sguardi curiosi dei compagni di classe e neanche le attenzione che il suo ex ora rivolge alla sua nuova ragazza, attenzioni indesiderate che non fanno che aumentare il livello di stress e ansia di una ragazza già in terapia per imparare ad affrontare le sue paure.
Ma proprio quando tutto sembra precipitare un nuovo ragazzo entra nella vita di Everly, Gabe un ragazzo dal sorriso facile che riesce a portarla sulla sua orbita gravitazionale quanto basta per farle dimenticare della rottura con il suo ex ragazzo.
Posso dire con certezza di non aver mai letto con tanto fascino e attenzione una storia YA come ho fatto per questo in tantissimo tempo. Mille pezzi di te e di me è riuscito a farmi entrare nel libro dalla primissima battuta tanto da coinvolgermi al punto di non staccarmi per un solo minuto dalla lettura e finire il libro in una sola sessione di lettura!
Questo è stato possibile grazie ad una narrazione veloce, accattivante e super avvincente, ma anche grazie alla capacità della giovane autrice di riuscire a dipingere dei personaggi caratterizzati al meglio e capaci di riportare sulla carta scritta la vita, gli amori e dispiaceri delle nuove giovani generazioni. La protagonista Everly rappresenta tutte le ragazze che si sono trovate anche per un solo giorno nei panni della ragazza con il cuore letteralmente a pezzi, una ragazza che soffre a tal punto da ritrovarsi quasi a cambiare stile di vita per non affrontare la dura verità ma è anche la stessa ragazza che riuscirà a superare queste paure grazie all'aiuto delle persone amate, dei famigliari, di quelle che sono le vere amicizie e il vero amore, quello che non chiede mai ma che dà tutto il possibile.
Se la protagonista è l'incarnazione della ragazza imperfetta che si nasconde in ognuno di noi la sua controparte maschile è il ragazzo perfetto che sotto il sorriso smagliante ha più di qualche ammaccatura e che non cerca altro di trovare il coraggio per provare a corteggiare la ragazza di cui è innamorato.
Se da un lato questa è la tipica storia YA, quella che riesce a far brillare gli occhi di tutte le ragazze che adorano le storie romantiche a lieto fine, Mille pezzi di te e di me è anche il libro dove sotto i problemi più comuni dell'adolescenza si nascondono tematiche importanti che non bisogna prendere sottogamba. Questa è una storia dove ancora una volta si mettono sotto i riflettori i problemi e la gravità delle malattie mentali come crisi di panico e ansia fino al più grave disturbo bipolare. Questo libro riesce come pochi a trattare l'argomento in maniera tale da mettere questa problematica sotto i riflettori in un modo così sublime da evidenziare come nei giorni nostri si deve combattere con tutte le nostre forze per abolire gli stigmi che questi ancora si portano dietro e cercare di comprendere e accettare ciò che è diverso.
Un altro aspetto che ho adorato del romanzo è stata la concezione delicata e dolce con la quale viene introdotto il sesso tra gli adolescenti. Ho amato leggere come quello che è il rapporto più intimo che si crea tra una coppia venga percepito come il culmine della fiducia che si instaura tra due ragazzi che si amano completamente.
4 Stelle per un libro super romantico e molto, molto carino capace di far battere il cuore del lettore.

Queste parole hanno fatto breccia nella mia mente.
Spesso cerchiamo tra i paragrafi del libro che leggiamo qualcosa che parli al nostro cuore, una frase che appartenga solo a noi. Leggo molto e spesso niente di ciò che leggo riesce a lasciare un segno... ma in questa storia ho trovato qualcosa che sembra scritto per me.
Ognuno di noi ha delle prove da superare per crescere e migliorarsi.
Una storia che apre lo spiraglio su molte riflessioni con la dolcezza delle seconde possibilità e della forza dell’amore.

It was cute, but kinda cheesy in some spots. I liked that the book was therapy-positive as well as sex-positive. Something was missing though to make it stand out, and the characters were a little cookie cutter.

I have to say I was surprised by how much I actually liked this book. I enjoyed most of the characters and the story line! Plus there were lots of feelings involved but sad and some warm and fuzzy ones. I really enjoyed the story line of something that can tear you down emotionally but within that you build yourself back up to someone better. My only issue is that the book wasn't long enough. I would've liked it to be a hit longer, maybe extend the ending a little more.

Everly è una giovane ragazza che frequenta un liceo anonimo nella città di Los Angeles. Fino a poco tempo prima credeva di avere la felicità tra le mani, aveva un ragazzo favoloso e una meravigliosa migliore amica. Tutto questo finché non scopre il suo ragazzo e la sua amica mentre si baciano nella macchina di lui proprio nel parcheggio della scuola.
Everly si sente perduta, è come se il mondo le fosse caduto addosso ed ora non le resta altro che cercare di ricostruire i pezzi del suo cuore. Per questo si rivolge a Laura, una psicoterapeuta che la aiuta nel suo percorso. Un giorno durante una seduta, nella sala d'attesa entra un ragazzo che cattura l’attenzione di Everly. Gabriel Darcy ha la stessa età di lei e frequenta la sua stessa scuola, ma non c'è mai stata mai occasione di conoscersi anche se lui sa di lei, visto che di lei si parla per tutta la scuola dopo lo scandalo del suo ragazzo e la sua migliore amica. Gabe è un ragazzo bellissimo, sexy, dolce, con due occhi che cambiano spesso colore. Anche lui ha sofferto molto, per questo si è rivolto ad uno psicoterapeuta per riuscire a superare quel dolore indescrivibile che si porta nel petto. Gabe ed Eve a poco a poco iniziano a conoscersi, a cercarsi e così ad amarsi. Nonostante abbiano tanti altri ostacoli da superare, alla fine decidono di farlo insieme.
Non so di preciso cosa mi abbia spinta a voler leggere questo libro, ma già dalla trama avevo intuito che sarebbe stata una storia diversa dalle altre. La lettura è sorprendentemente scorrevole, i capitoli sono trenta, variano di lunghezza e sono raccontati del punto di vista di Everly. Anche se avrei preferito che ci fossero più dettagli della storia dei due personaggi, mi è piaciuto molto che l'autrice non abbia voluto approfondire le scene di passione, descrivendo lo stretto necessario. La storia di Everly e Gabe è un insegnamento che l'autrice vuole dare al lettore. Con due protagonisti che hanno sofferto moltissimo per via di persone che avevano e hanno a cuore, il loro mondo si è frantumato i mille piccoli pezzi, ma entrambi sono consapevoli che non devono lasciarsi andare al dolore, perché altrimenti si perderebbero totalmente.

I enjoyed this book so much I didn’t want it to end. It was a short quick read and even though I felt it needed a longer ending I loved it. I felt the emotions were real. I loved Gabe as a character. I enjoyed the story line because things like what happen happen in real life so it felt so real.

Everly frequenta l'ultimo anno di liceo, tutto era perfetto nella sua vita ma quando scopre che il suo fidanzato Brady la tradisce con la sua migliore amica Elle che conosce dalle elementari, il suo mondo crolla insieme ai suoi progetti e le sue aspettative per il futuro.

Gabe è un ragazzo dolcissimo e anche lui ha dei problemi in famiglia.
Piano piano i due cominceranno a conoscersi e presto diventeranno amici. Lui incomincerà a proteggerla dai numerosi attacchi di panico causategli da Brady e Elle, ma più tempo passa con Gabe e più Everly incomincia ad affezionarsi e stare bene quando c'è lui.
Everly capisce che nel periodo che stava con Brady si è chiusa nel loro guscio e si preclusa ogni esperienza e sopratutto di conoscere nuove persone. Infatti in questo periodo Everly conoscerà nuove persone che presto diventeranno sue amiche e la sosterranno conoscendo la sua situazione.
Ben presto Everly si accorgerà di provare qualcosa di più di una semplice amicizia per Gabe ma ha paura di donare un'altra volta il proprio cuore a qualcuno, per paura che glielo spezzeranno di nuovo.
Anche Gabe alle spalle ha una vita tormentata, prchè ha paura che prima o poi potrà perdere una persona importante nella sua vita. Everly aiuterà Gabe a superare questa paura e lo aiuterà nei momenti difficili.
Ho amato questo libro già dalle prime pagine un libro che appassiona e ti coinvolge.
Mi è piaciuto molto il modo di scrivere dell'autrice sopratutto il linguaggio che ha usato per raccontare alcuni situazioni delicate. Ho amato la protagonista che dall'inizio della storia ha avuto un cambiamento in meglio che si è lasciata tutto alle spalle per avere un nuovo inizio grazie anche all'aiuto di Gabe che non l'ha mai abbandonata.
Ho amato il legame tra Everly e Gabe la sintonia che c'era tra loro.
Ci sono stati alcuni personaggi secondari che mi sono piaciuti tantissimo come per esempio Rosie la sorella di Everly che gli è stata sempre vicina per aiutarla ad affrontare questo momento difficile per lei.
Una storia bellissima raccontata nella sua semplicità. Non ho mai letto nulla di quest'autrice ma è stata una bellissima scoperta, una di quelle autrici che leggendo i loro libri ti fa dire WOW. Spero di leggere altro di quest'autrice.

This book is about a young girl-Everly having the worst that could happen in her senior year. She loses her boyfriend to her best friend. She is heartbroken and devastated that this happened and she's trying to get over her heartbreak when someone else shows up in her life. This new boy-Gabe has problems of his own, but Everly doesn't know if she's ready again. She's been seeing a therapist to get her up the stairs to her happiness again.
The Bad
There are so many books out there like this so you have to have the heart to read different versions. I found the ending not as complete as I wanted it to be, but I settled with how it ended.
The Good
It was a cute little story that is just a nice read when you are out on the beach or at home. I found this story being the best it would be because I was what I wanted it would be. The characters were very well developed and each person mentioned in the story played a part in Everly's life.

The author of this book made the book way better than what I thought. I really enjoyed this book and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this just as a pleasure read and nothing to be taken too seriously.

Il libro è molto carino. Mi è stato consigliato da una ragazza ed ho deciso di prenderlo a 3€ all'usato. Inutile dire che mi sono innamorata di Gabe e che molto spesso ho odiato Brady ed Elle nonostante non dicano molto nel libro. Il finale non è dei migliori, mi aspettavo di meglio, ma nonostante questo penso sia assolutamente azzeccato per il genere di libro. Ogni particolare è curato bene e lo stile di scrittura dell'autrice mi piace molto. Divorato praticamente in pochissimi giorni, lo consiglio a chi vuole una lettura leggera per staccare.
Trama: Everly ha appena ricevuto la sua prima delusione in amore. Il suo ragazzo l'ha tradita con la sua migliore amica. Everly per questo dovrà andare da una psicologa ed un giorno mentre aspetta in sala d'attesa incontra questo ragazzo, Gabe.

This was so freaking cute. Literally the best first book of the year. There is just something about healing together that is irresistible and something that I am a sucker for. Every.time. The characters are amazing and this wasn't just a cliche romance novel but interesting and a little different.

Questo libro è di una semplicità e bellezza uniche. Non ha pretese di grandi drammi e grandi stravolgimenti, eppure colpisce al cuore per l'intensità dei sentimenti di cui racconta.
Everly è una liceale, brava a scuola, carina, con un'amica popolare e un ragazzo che molte le invidiano. Quando subisce il tradimento peggiore da parte dell'amica e del suo ragazzo, tutto il suo mondo apparente va in pezzi. E tutto si ricompone.
L'amica traditrice le fa ulteriore male raccontando in giro tutte le confidenze che un tempo le due si facevano. Sembra quasi che sia Everly la cattiva da cui mettere il mondo in guardia, anziché l'altra. Eppure la nostra protagonista resta tranquilla, arrendevole e impermeabile alle cattiverie.
E sopravvivere senza il fidanzato perduto, passato l'uragano dolore, fa realizzare a Everly che nei due anni in cui è stata con Brady si è persa ogni attività, ogni nuova conoscenza, ogni esperienza che andasse oltre lui e la sua migliore amica. Non tutti i mali vengono per nuocere e, se è vero che serve tempo per riprendersi da due delusioni così potenti, è anche vero che ora ha finalmente tempo e voglia di guardarsi intorno e osservare molte più cose. Come se all'improvviso i suoi orizzonti si fossero allargati.
E' in questo orizzonte che compare Gabe, con il suo sorriso, la sua storia e la sua filosofia sugli "alti e bassi".
Un ragazzo così è irresistibile, soprattutto se vive nel corpo aitante di un atleta della squadra scolastica di pallanuoto. Gabe e Everly diventano l'uno la spalla dell'altra, amici, complici e confidenti, mentre il tempo passa e le ferite si sanano. Soli sono spaventati e devono fingere una forza che non sentono davvero. Insieme …si sa, l'unione fa la forza.
E' un bel romanzo di crescita e maturazione, ma non pensate che sia tutto lineare fino alla fine. Nell'ultimo 20 % capitano cose che lo fanno diventare un capolavoro in grado di sbattermi sulle montagne russe.

Our Broken Pieces is labeled as a young adult contemporary romance, but to me it seemed to be more of a coming of age read. These are two young people who older beyond their years, and have been through a pretty good amount of crap, each in their own ways.
We meet Everly just after learning that her long time boyfriend has broke up with her, which is heartbreaking enough, but it’s not just that. He broke up with her because he was seeing her best friend behind her back. Everly’s parent send her to see a therapist when she start having severe anxiety attacks to get her some help. This is also where we meet Gabe who receiving therapy but for something different. It isn’t hard to see that Everly and Gabe has some sort of connection, not necessarily a romantic one at first either. Both of these two have their own issues and are trying to put the pieces of themselves back together. And somewhere along the way something changes between them. Now there is a few fairly steamy scenes between Everly and Gabe but I was happy for them.
I have to say, I adored Everly, even with all the rumors and the stares in the halls and friends turning on her, she never spread rumors herself or had a nasty word even for used to be best friend. Gabe was pretty amazing too. With what his family has been through, is just awful but somehow Gabe has managed to stay strong for his family and his sister. The secondary characters like Everly and Gabe’s parents, to Everly’ younger sister played such an important part, it was hard to see them as just secondary characters. They were very developed and I enjoyed them.
I would say the only complaint I have is the ending, it was a little on the abrupt side. I was hoping for some more, but I guess in the end it was a fitting end for the story of Every and Gabe. Overall, this was a really great read for me and I would certainly recommend for fans of YA contemporary coming of age reads.

Good premise, poor play out. The writing itself was very detailed, and not in a good way. In a very, very "this is what's happening, right down to what he's wearing, even though it's not vital to the important things actually happening in the storyline" kind of style. All telling, little showing. And so cliched. Girl has heart broken by cheating boyfriend, who is stolen away by girl's BEST FRIEND, so girl is in therapy and suffering from panic attacks. But other than that she's totally put together, and everyone envies her because she's really pretty and smart. So naturally a totally cute boy who is also in therapy (at the same time, and the same office at her, conveniently!) makes it his job to step in when she crosses paths with her ex BF and BFF, and make her feel safe and wanted and loved again. But it's okay, because his sister has a mental illness, so Everly helps Gabe heal, too. Say it with me: awwww.
But, what it really is is more of the same: you need a boy to feel whole, to make you happy. You don't need to be okay on your own, or face your own problems, because a man will swoop in to save you with *love*!
Don't get me wrong. It's a cute story, and I liked Everly and Gabe together. I did. But this is the wrong message to give, guys!
Heal on your own, heal independently of a relationship. You don't need to love someone to be happy, you need to love yourself, and all this book is telling girls is that they need someone special to come along and *teach* them to love themselves. Nope. Love yourself first and then you'll find the right person *because* you're cool with who you are. Or you'll be totally cool being alone, and not *need* to get a date to prom to feel like you've "moved on" from an ex. Ugh.
But, what it really is is more of the same: you need a boy to feel whole, to make you happy. You don't need to be okay on your own, or face your own problems, because a man will swoop in to save you with *love*!
Don't get me wrong. It's a cute story, and I liked Everly and Gabe together. I did. But this is the wrong message to give, guys!
