About this author

I began writing screenplays in 1998 and became a 2001 semi-finalist in the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences' Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. I made the switch to writing young adult novels in 2008. I'm a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. I respect cats, love the mountains, and one time walked the streets of Barcelona with a smile on my face.

There are times when creativity is higher or lower on any given day. However, you still must force it out. To me, writer's block is only resistance to something. You must drop all resistance and go where ever the muse is telling you to go. Evaluate and judge it later. When you're writing, all that matters is writing something down. Period.(less)

Self-Editing for Fiction Writers by Renni Browne

A must-read for fiction writers. A good book that helps a writer be their own good editor in the re-writing process. Tackles many aspects of the process and what a writer should watch out for. Highly recommend.

“Be ruthless about protecting writing days, i.e., do not cave in to endless requests to have "essential" and "long overdue" meetings on those days. The funny thing is that, although writing has been my actual job for several years now, I still seem to have to fight for time in which to do it. Some people do not seem to grasp that I still have to sit down in peace and write the books, apparently believing that they pop up like mushrooms without my connivance. I must therefore guard the time allotted to writing as a Hungarian Horntail guards its firstborn egg.”
