Grew up in Colombia, South America, in a family of myopic bookworms.

Currently shopping around a manuscript of poems set in Colombia. In summer 2009 I had the privilege of receiving critique on it from the fantastic poet Martín Espada & four wonderful poet-classmates, & after a juicy, satisfying time of making revisions & writing new poems to complete the set, I have begun searching for a publisher.

Bread & butter work: editor at a university press. Perfect work for a hopelessly word-obsessed person.

Social justice work: Latin America solidarity, focused especially on Colombia.

Most of us harbor a cherished dream--mine is to be an invited poet at the annual international poetry festival in Medellín, Colombia. The wonderful film

Two new things

1. A pair of poems that I wrote first in Spanish & then translated into English have been accepted for publication! The Spanish & English will be published together in Reunion: The Dallas Review.

Ruth gave to: Madwomen: The "Locas mujeres" Poems of Gabriela Mistral, a Bilingual Edition by Gabriela Mistral	My rating:
I had the privilege of copyediting this set of translated poems by Mistral, one of the great 20th-century Latin American poets, & it's truly wonderful; the translator, Randall Couch, is a poet himself & it shows.
