About the author

Gillian Flynn is an American author and television critic for Entertainment Weekly. She has so far written three novels, Sharp Objects, for which she won the 2007 Ian Fleming Steel Dagger for the best thriller; Dark Places; and her best-selling third novel Gone Girl.

Her book has received wide praise, including from authors such as Stephen King. The dark plot revolves around a serial killer in a Missouri town, and the reporter who has returned from Chicago to cover the event. Themes include dysfunctional families,violence and self-harm.

In 2007 the novel was shortlisted for the Mystery Writers of America Edgar for Best First Novel by an American Writer, Crime Writers' Association Duncan Lawrie, CWA New Blood and Ian Fleming Steel Daggers, winning in the last two categories.

Flynn, who lives in Chicago, grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated at the University of Kansas, and qualified for a Master's degree from Northwestern University.

Groza me je. Pa ne knjige, ker knjiga te drzi od prve strani naprej. Zgodba pa je grozljiva. Temacnost, odnosi, ki so primarni so bolni. Toliko custev v zgodbi, toliko bolecine, ki si jo junakinja prizadene sama in jo prizadenejo drugi, da se sprasujes od kod jemlje moc, da se zivi. Otopelost mesta in zlagani odnosi so odraz danasnjega sveta. Odlicna knjiga, ceprav po branju cutim bolecino glavne junakinje.... in se sprasujem ali jo bo uspelo, da ne postane Adora.

Branje tega romana ... Sej sploh ne vem, kje naj točno začnem... Resnično upam, da gre za "izgubljeno s prevodom", ker slog pisanja me niti malo ni pritegnil.
Kar se zadeva vsebine, morbidnosti, bizarnosti in kratkomalo gnusa, pa se resnično sprašujem, kakšna oseba je avtorica.
Sem strastna ljubiteljica kriminalk, še posebej psihotrilerjev. Kot najstnica sem požirala romane Minette Walters, kot odrasla pa Jo Nesbo... A Gillian Flynn je upodobila like z najbolj nagnusnimi lastnostimi... Verjetno me moti, ker gre za prikazovanje mladostniške seksualnosti, kot bo bili odrasli... Skratka, sama zgodba, način pisanja, "zaplet", ki to ni in zaključek, ki je jasen od sredine romana, me je pustil hladno... Glede na "hajp" romana, sem razočarana...

"Tako okolje za dogajanje, manjše nepomembno mesto v ZDA, me je vedno privlačilo. Kjer se seveda dogajajo brutalni umori. Odnosi med liki so malce nepravilni, anpak ravno to naredi to kriminalko zanimivo. V redu, mi pa je nekaj manjkalo."

Temacnejsa vsebina, dovolj zanimiva in napeta, vendar je nekaj malega manjkalo. Konec delno predvidljiv in premalo nor.
