About the author

I'm Al, I used to be a space scientist, and now I'm a writer, although for a time the two careers ran in parallel. I started off publishing short stories in the British SF magazine Interzone in the early 90s, then eventually branched into novels. I write about a novel a year and try to write a few short stories as well. Some of my books and stories are set in a consistent future named after Revelation Space, the first novel, but I've done a lot of other things as well and I like to keep things fresh between books.

I was born in Wales, but raised in Cornwall, and then spent time in the north of England and Scotland. I moved to the Netherlands to continue my science career and stayed there for a very long time, before eventually returning to Wales.

In my spare time I am a very keen runner, and I also enjoying hill-walking, birdwatching, horse-riding, guitar and model-making. I also dabble with paints now and then. I met my wife in the Netherlands through a mutual interest in climbing and we married back in Wales. We live surrounded by hills, woods and wildlife, and not too much excitement.

Aș fi vrut acțiunea să se focuseze pe inhibitori dar poate la următoarea carte din serie. Asta am simțit că nu este sfârșitul seriei. Și am înțeles că autorul va scoate o nouă carte în serie.

Mi s-a părut excepțională.
Traducere bună spre foarte bună.

Atacurile Inhibitorilor devin tot mai periculoase, amenințând să ducă la extincția omenirii, așa cum a dus la extincția atâtor alte specii. Dar există o speranță, undeva, pe satelitul unei planete de pe care un cult straniu studiază niște dispariții misterioase. Acolo pare să se găsească poarta de legătură spre o brane de unde poate veni un ajutor în lupta contra Inhibitorilor.

Ideile sunt punctul forte al lui Reynolds. Surprinzător, de data aceasta reușește să construiască și un personaj foarte solid, ale cărui motivații sunt coerente, complexe, reușind să-mi câștige simpatia. Mi s-a părut că există unele scăpări în roman, dar, per total, cartea e la fel de bună ca orice altceva am citit de acest autor.

Puțin mai bună sau mai bine spus mai ușor de trecut prin ea față de cartea a 2-a din serie. Are și un final suficient de ok încât să simți că există un closure/finalizare. Sigur - poți să treci mai departe, dar saltul mi se pare prea mare pentru ce estimez că că se întâmplă în în cartea a 4-a.

Overall a fost serie interesantă, cu niște concepte destul de familiare pentru cei care au jucat/joacă Stellaris. Poate era mai bine să fie mai scurtă și să construiască universul în mai multe volume, poate n-am înțeles eu de ce s-a pus accentul pe anumite situații/personaje pentru că n-am citit și cartea a 4-a și/sau povestioarele dintre volume, merge așa lejer de vară.
