Jeśli ktoś ma wątpliwości, czy może zacząć cały ten cykl książek ze świata Zapomnianych Krain, od Wojny Pajęczej Cesarzowej, temu odpowiadam: Tak, jak najbardziej. Książkę zdobyłam nie wiem, w jaki sposób. Chyba spodobała mi się nazwa albo coś innego. Nie wiedziałam, co to za książka, o czym jest itd. itd., ale wciągnęła mnie. Cholernie mnie wciągnęła. Parę rzeczy nadal jest niejasnych, wykreowany świat pewnie jest bardziej znany fanom cyklu, nie mniej, odnalazłam się. Odnalazłam się w historii, świecie i bohaterach. A może bohaterach przede wszystkim. Postaci są wyraźne, niejednowymiarowe, często "szare". W ogóle cała książka jest nastawiona neutralnie. Nie mamy tu podziału na złych i dobrych, nie mamy próby robienia z tego wyniosłych opowieści o czynach bohaterów. Pozostajemy w sferze historii o ludziach (w tym przypadku o czarnych elfach). Całą książkę mogłabym nazwać jedną wielką opowieścią. Nie dostajemy tu wielkich przeskoków czasowych, to nie jest też książka dla młodszych odbiorców, a szczególnie tych młodszych, którzy czytają jeszcze serie typu Szklany tron czy Malowany człowiek. Nie, nie to nie te bajki. To ni jest też Gra o tron. Tu się wiele dzieje, śledzimy losy poszczególnych bohaterów, a styl autora sprawia, że nie zagłębiamy się w długie, nużące opisy, tylko idziemy z nurtem akcji.

Szczerze mówiąc niebardzo pamiętam co tu się w ogóle działo, co rzadko mi się zdarza w przypadku książek nie będących podręcznikami od historii.
Pamiętam tylko, że nie było takie złe, ale trochę mnie męczyło.
