Lekker leesbaar, spannend boek. Arkady Renko, inspecteur in Moskou, wil een moord uitzoeken op een zwarte markt-handelaar. Hij wordt hierin echter tegengewerkt door zijn superieuren. Desalniettemin zet hij door en dat brengt hem in München en Berlijn, alwaar hij stuit op een deal waar kunstwerken, verloren gewaand tijdens WO II, uit Rusland gesmokkeld en in het westen op de markt worden gebracht.
