This volume is a pause of a kind. Most of it is devolved to a "jinki 101" session followed with the discovery of new artist forgers who can paint one-time enchantments. Interesting if not amazing and at least Remlin’s hyperactivity gives way to very dynamic scenes. Her grin is somehow communicative.
The fight starting the new quest is visually impressive but not very legible if I’m honest. Speed lines and dust everywhere but don’t ask me what actually happened.
More 3,5* than 4 but the excellent designs and visual treats Urana offers make me feel generous.
the drip is this manga is off the charts holy shit. rudo's mask??? top notch. every new characters gets more and more drippy like how do you top it. the canvas city cool asf as well.
Continuing to learn more as we go, not a ton, but still a small glimpse into what's going on. For everything that happened in this volume, it was a pinch lacking in actual substance. We learned a little about how the power system worked, we meet some new characters, we got to explore the world and see new places, and yet I still feel a bit disappointed it didn't feel like a whole lot of anything. Still a really good series, and I know they are setting stuff up, so I am willing to be patient until the next one.
I feel like the humor in this series does not hit very often for me. It’s pretty low-swinging jokes and catchphrases lol. I also am starting to get a bit fatigued by feeling like I am reading the tutorial of this series- the first chapter of the manga was a perfectly paced introduction into the world and story. Since chapter two though, we have been being by introduced to the land below for like 4 volumes now and it still doesn’t really feel like the ball is rolling very well to me. But the art is still strong and there has been signs of promise in the manga so I don’t doubt that it could get very good.
Volume 4 is my favorite in the series so far—intense, emotional, and full of momentum. I loved seeing Rudo truly start to understand his ability, especially with the support and guidance of the Cleaners. His growth feels earned and exciting.
We also get key info about the Sphere and hints at how Rudo might actually make his way back up, which adds even more tension and intrigue to the story.
The art is unreal—gritty, kinetic, and beautifully chaotic. Kei Urana’s panels explode with energy, especially during the action scenes. If you’re not already hooked, this volume will pull you all the way in.
This was a good volume, and a very quick read. I think one chapter was mostly action, when the Cleaners faced off against some Trash Beasts. The chapters before were definitely heavier on the text. There was even a bit of an emotional arc with the loss of a friend of the Cleaners.
I will say, that cliffhanger at the end of the volume was brutal. Especially because I'm reading Gachiakuta as it's released in the US. At least I only have to wait until the end of January for Volume 5. So like a month.
4.5; WTF WAS THAT ENDING?? this one really flew by! every time we get more lore about the ground i eat it up, so i loved the side quest to canvas town. it's really cool to see how different people's powers manifest themselves differently depending on their objects and their own ideologies. it's a super efficient way to combine power explanations with character development cause every time a new giver is introduced you immediately ask yourself "okay why is that object so important to them??", and i cannot WAIT to start finding out the answers to those questions for our main characters
Building out the story. We're learning more about the world of the below, which is necessary. I do enjoy us being just as clueless as the MC, who for once is powerful without being immediately overpowered. Like, his power is tough. But he's a newb and has a lot to learn, so he often ends up relying on and working with the other characters, which helps us get to know them and helps me to care about them more.
4.25/5 Gachiakuta continues to expand the world and characters in interesting ways. In this volume, we learn about a city filled by artists who cover the walls in graffiti. We get some really interesting added characters and continue to explore more of the world. We leave off on quite a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for volume 5.
Spero che i pg principali verranno approfonditi presto.
I’m so in love with this universe. The character designs are so GOOD and the graffiti art? I LOVE graffiti so much. If it wasn’t for the wacky hyjinks part of this volume, it would’ve gotten 5 stars for canvas town alone. Such an amazing city setting.
maybe a little disappointed at the riyou scene but at least she seems like a character!!!! also amo's design is so beautiful??? im still wanting more from this all the time but im enjoying it i think i am liking how is progressing so far
I think this might be the "worst" volume so far. The characters are running a bit around on small "errands", and some worldbuilding stuff. Not the most exciting in terms of story, unfortunately. Luckily, the art is still amazing to look at so it doesn't get boring to get through the volume.
Engine better be safe in the next volume. Ludo tiene su full face and it's badass.
I just can’t get over the style it just feels different but in a good way I just love the raggedy and messy art I guess is what you would call it…? BUT I LOVE IT
I also love kudo so much 🫶 he’s such an eren yeager character
The most enjoyable volume so far. The characters are finally starting to goof off less and show some personality, we see the new mayor of Canvas Town rise to power in an interesting way, and garbage goober goes into hoarder mode at a nice dumping ground. The ending is terribly confusing though…
