This time Melody is the one in charge due to her father going missing at the Guild, however, things do not go as planned when she steps up. There is a huge twist, and she's caught in the middle.

Then add in the fact that she claims to still just be a human even though the last book said she had demon blood in her, so she's half demon, and that just seemed to have no real point in this one.

That was frustrating, other than that it was an interesting read filled with lots of twists and turns, but not a lot of depth into her relationships.

Melody is not given much time to recover from the events of fighting and killing her mother. Oh and the little thing of becoming soul bonded to Lucifer. When her father goes missing, she is left in charge of the Guild. Right about the time Lucifer is having problems with hunters finding a new weapon to use against the demons. Torn between helping the Guild and helping Lucifer, Melody needs to discover fast whose side she is on.

In Hunting Light, we get to see Melody after the events in Hunting Darkness and with what that reveals. So if you haven't read book one, I would recommend it. She does not know how to deal with Lucifer so she immerses herself back at the Guild. But Lucifer is not one to be denied. The pull between them is strong, while Lucifer does not try to hide anything Melody is. She does not know how to deal with the bond and you see her struggle through it most of the book. Her father is taken, and she is left with running the Guild. You get to see her step up and handle business her way, and I freaking loved it. She is so awesome. Lucifer, I of course just freaking love. The way he handles Melody and is hard yet soft with her, just melted me. Merlidon and Brotus each get some more time in this book. The back and forth between Melody and Merildon is as entertaining as with Lucifer. Brotus is the quiet strong type and he is I think what calms her. The guys are perfect for her, because yes I do believe she is a handful.

That being said, the plot was just as fast paced and on point as Hunting Darkness. We have a new foe to figure out, and when we find out who is also involved in it, I was kinda shocked because I was not expecting it. Although I loved the plot and characters, I felt the end was somewhat rushed. The epilogue left me with needing more. I feel like there was a piece missing from the end, with a few questions. What happened to the guild? What happened in the meantime. This did not take anything away from the story for me, just left me with a few questions. So if you haven't read this series, please do. It is a great one!!

Melody fights her emotions and demons - quiet literally in Hunting Light.

The intensity of the story and action packed scenes, will have you hooked again. Along with the characters and relationships that continue to evolve with the second book in the Demon Hunter series.

I highly recommend this co-write by Savannah Rose and Amelia Gates.

Favourite line of the book: “A demon and a hunter. An unlikely pair.”

Not a true reverse harem, poor ending, one dimensional characters.

This was another one of those books with great potential and I'm sick to death of reading them. With a genre like RH you're going to get some truly shitty books. While this wasn't the worst, it for sure wasn't the best.

It started out okayish. Melody was a bit boring in my opinion. She was just angry all the time for the sake of being angry. There was little to no reason as to why she would get angry all the time? Friend dies? Angry? Hunter uprising? Angy. Dad gets kidnapped? Angry. Has to fill in for him? Angry. BREATHES? Angry. She had the emotional depth of a fucking Petri dish with as much humility.
Her "harem" consisted of a boyfriend and two tag alongs. No character development to speak of with all of them. At one point Merlidon gets jealous when she says she "fucked" Brotha (they didn't screw btw more like fooled around) and I thought, here we go, finally getting somewhere with one of here "harem' but NOPE
Lucifer, King of Demons!!!
More like Lucifer, could be king but doesn't really live up to the title.
At some points the author would send Lucifer out to do some research but it was weak. Almost like they were giving him a job to keep him while Melody dealt with the big guns. The first book pointed at some great chemistry with the three of them but in this book Lucifer was just whipped and followed her around with his tail wagging...with Brotus and Meliwhatever following behind him urgh. Reverse harem my back foot.
Cue more anger.
Honestly I can't really get into more of the story apart from the end and the epilogue.
The ending was far too abrupt and lacked and buildup. Oh. Mr. Black is at the Guild? Cool let's go. Cue wack fight, cue wack dialogue, cue lame buildup then quite literally she kills him.
Then we get the epilogue which was just as lame. All of a sudden they're on holiday and she's inviting them all to shower with her and they're all fucking.
I'm so fed up 😂
This could have seriously been ana mazing story but it fell SHORT.

Oh boy, this is gonna end up as a rant isn’t it.

Take away the sizzling chemistry from the first book and you’re pretty much left with nothing. The issues I found with the first book was the plot and the mother being the bad guy. If possible the plot gets weaker and the bad guy is just as bad.

Lucifer the demon king, king of hell is nothing more than a whipped puppy with two jealous minions awaiting their turn, hence the loss of chemistry I enjoyed from the first book, leaving the three men flat and not as fleshed out. Not to mention everyone seems to have forgotten she’s half demon.

It all pretty much boils down to a Mary Sue hunter that wants to bang demons and kill everyone that she dislikes without consequences. The epilogue was about as abstract as it could get and completely random. I’ll stop there whilst I’m not using the f word. A rushed disappointment.

Likable

To put it shortly, this book is easy to comprehend and read. The writing and dialogue is good. The characters are good. Everything is just... good. The world building of the Hell realm is lacking, but the book is short and filled with dialogue, a little bit of inner monologue and a little bit of description - so the lack of hell-building is expected.

This book is simple and short, and the plot is not overbearing. The plot is actually perfect, it has great build up, just the right amount of mystery, just the right amount of questions and answers, and it flowed nicely. It didn’t take over the book, nor was it a “oh my goodness the world is going to actually end” kinda of thing.

This book would have been 5 stars, but the ending was so rushed it was disappointing. All the build up was perfect for the end, but the part that ruined it was after the bad guy was caught.
Suddenly, Melody’s relationships developed at super speed from flirting and foreplay throughout the book till about 80% when the big scenes happen and there is no sex, to foursomes in the epilogue - with no explanation. It did not flow with the book and was so out of place. I feel like we missed out on major character development. Plus, we don’t know a lot about the men.

Lastly, I hope there is a third book to tie up all the loose ends. Like what happens to the guild, ben, the uprising and melody? I’m putting this out there because there was no information about book 3 at the end of the book.. so i’m letting you all know that if there is no book 3 (which i am also questioning because of how book 2 ended) be prepared for loose ends.

All in all, despite my negative words, the book is worth reading. the only reason it lost a star was because of the quick and confusing ending. The rest of the book is good!

Fantastic 2nd book!!

Whoa... the plot twists and curve balls definitely threw me for a loop in this book. So many things happened that I did not expect. There seems to be one large overwhelming plot which is to eradicate demons. Even though that seems to be the main goal, each book has had a different “villain” and a different method of operation to achieve demon eradication. I like how the authors has staged this story line because each book hasn’t really ended on a cliffhanger but it’s a ending that can hold me over until the next book. I’ve read too many series with cliffhangers that are almost impossible to handle so this is refreshing and nice to read.

Melody is still as snarky and badass as the first book which I love! I love all 3 of her demons and I am glad to see the relationship with Melody, Merlidon, and Brotus grow and develop deeper emotions. The relations Melody has with Lucifer is also growing. I felt in the first book, it was mostly just Melody and Lucifer in the relationship with little hints of lust brewing between the other 2 demons but this book expanded on that to include Merlidon and Brotus.

The ending of this book allows the authors to either continue with the lives of Melody and her 3 demons or just leave it as it is so this will be interesting to see what happens next (I’m being hopeful that there will be a 3rd book).

Just a few grammar details such as quotation marks omitted. There were some context errors during conversation where it was clear Melody said it but the flow of the conversation made it seem like someone else said it or the pronouns used were incorrect. I only saw that once, maybe twice. These weren’t errors that justified losing a star though. The authors did a fantastic job writing this book.

This is a sequel to Hunting Darkness, and it is fantastic.
The story continues a few weeks after the events of the previous book, and it hits home immediately. Melody's father and the Guild leader has been taken by an unknown entity and not only that Melody needs to find out what happened to her father, she needs to take charge in his stead, and do all the things she never wanted to do, such as meeting with the other leaders, or sending her peers to assignments.
Melody being Melody, never shies away from her duties, and she takes the position and does her best. On the other hand, she runs away from the new things she discovered about herself in the previous book. Regardless, her determination conquers all doubts and split loyalties as she moves closer to the resolution.
As in previous book, the author's did a great job plotting the story, further developing the characters and their relationships and expanding the world. Prejudice and various agendas still prevail, as well as the zealous behaviour. However, the unexpected love and loyalty, survive all the trials and tribulations.
It did seem like this was an ending, or at least a temporary one, however, I am desperately hoping for more books, because I have enjoyed the first two immensely.

This book has a lot of potential, but sadly it falters because of its length and the ending. I'm not going to spoil anything here, but I will talk on the good points. It paces well, things aren't too scattered even though the main cast is constantly moving from the Guild to Hell, etc. I like Melody, and even more so when she communicates with Merlidon. Their relationship is probably the freshest thing I've read in a book in awhile. I wanted more of that, and Brotus is HIGHLY unexpected, he will shock you!

This book was only lacking on more interaction between these two and moments I was craving for. Lucifer gets a lot of attention, which is fine. The plot itself is pretty mediocre but it sets up nicely in comparison to the first novel. Mr.Black plays a larger role, and the world building leaves the reader curious for more. Sadly, this series feels like it needed to be played out more in depth or just another book in general. I wanted to learn more about angels, especially a certain one. AND MORE MERLIDON. A whole book of just him, take my money!

I really did like the second book in the Demon Hunter series and I don't think it deserves some of the reviews that have been left as its better than portrayed by some individuals. The storey continues with some unexpected plot twists which were brilliant. The sex is good but lacks a little suspense and heat that would have made the book a 5 star also I really wish that there was more heated moments with Brotos and Merlidon as their relationship expands. At the moment it isn't balanced at all - there is Lucifer and then it feels that Brotos and Merlidon are just playing substitues when lucifer isn't around. That said I did enjoy the storey and feel that there is so much more to come if the Authors decide to continue the series.

Loved it

Melody is avoiding the king of demons Lucifer and his two head Commanders. She is trying to cope with the death of her best friend and still her do her job as a Demon Hunter. She's also trying to understand how she is Lucifer's soulmate. Her last mission wasn't easy. She finally met her mother and then had to kill her hours later. When her father goes missing and other Guild's start using a horrific way to kill demons. Lucifer makes her stop running and help. It's to easy but now she is in charge of the New York Guild and searching for her father Mr. Black. Things get more shocking and the truth comes out. I am hoping their is a book 3 in the works cuz I want to know more about all 3 of them in their relationship.

While I loved the first book, I only loved the first half of the second book.

SPOILERS

It started off great, Melody still a little torn about choosing Lucifer and his 2 friends, and being a hunter at the guild... and her father gone missing , it was a good plot, only it was rushed.

after the first book we found out Melody had demon blood in her, yet it is not followed up, it is mentioned yes but nothing is done about it . after the found out why and how her father went missing the story was over, just like that. she killed him.. and that is the end.

I really liked book 1, and I am sorry to say that book 2 was way to rushed to enjoy.

This is only a short review as most comments are similar to that of the first book.

This book is better than the first book! The story was so much better, it was developed better and had more suspense leading up to the finale.

I found a little bit more by way of relationship building too, namely with Brotus.

Again, this is an incredibly short book and as a result they have significantly less detail but this book did surprisingly well. It was well placed, one event led to the other succinctly and the final battle was much better than that of the first book.

Overall this is a nice easy read, it is fun and has a little romance, a little action and even some suspense and mystery.

The story feels very thrown together, like the angles never end up having anything to really do with the story disappointingly. Neither one of her parents were ever redeemable, and I was really kinda hoping we would have that with her father since she had zero relationship with her mother.

The fact that her father became a demon almost more powerful then the devil & his friends seems stupid then were throwing in Greek mythology with Zeus’s lightning bolt ⚡️ 🤦‍♀️.

Then she defeated him and the threat seems to magically disappear on both ends because now they go on vacation. What the actual F^**?

So disappointing there was potential with this series but it was a waste of time!

I liked this book more than previous one.

Author is showing more of Melody's personality, her turmoils and the problems she have with deciding her future. She is basically cornered and unable to move in any direction.

I wish there was more of the guys. I feel like they got sidelined and we don't learn much about them.

Worth every waking hour!

This was such a fantastic read.
I absolutely love all the guys and the way they treat the FMC is either adorable or sexy af.
The character development was on point. We got to really see how the relationship between them grew and I just freaking loved it. The angels thing was really cool as well as the plot twists
I am not sure if this is the last book but if it is then it ended pretty well. I can say it enough but I loved this story!

Some missed opportunities.

This book was ok, a good follow up to book one....both books kind of on par with each other. You definitely know what your getting into with this story, I think the author misses some opportunities to build sexual tension and story intrigue. Anyways, wouldn't read it again but had potential to be really good, I will continue to look for Savannah Rose books, hopefully the books get better with experience.

ReAlly good till the end

I was not a fan of this epilogue i really was hoping for more science with just each guy. If they marked her as well or not and more couplings together . The plot thickened in this book with Melody’s father becoming a demon and her having to destroy him. Her three amazing demons there with her as she kicked ass. I think the ending was a bit abrupt and the epilogue lacking but an all around good read.

OH EM GEE

Wow Hell was hotter than I expected!!! And dang it was good! I’m shook! Melody was such a trooper and I hope this was just the end for now because I really want more! I don’t think everything just ended just like that or maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but seriously I want more!

Great sequel

I really did like this story. I just wish there was more moments with Brotos and Merlidon showing their connection. The ending left me a little confused, what happened about the stones? Will Melody stay with her demons or go back to the guild? Is there going to be another book?

Was good until it wasnt

I really enjoyed this nook , but the ending made no sense... It felt like a couple. Chapters where missing, one minute she was being caught by lucifer the next she was having shower sex. What happened to the guild? Luna? The stones? Is there gonna be another book? I don't know!! Disappointing ending

Melody and her guys are put to the test. Melody is trying to figure out her feeling as well as handle the guild. But I gotta say the guys are really understanding toward her feelings. Things happen and Meldoy learns things that she didn't see coming. Melody and her guys face what was causing problems and end up on top.

Really good

The second book was as amazing as the first. This author really knows her stuff. I was left with a couple of questions that weren’t answered but nothing that could stop me from loving and re-reading this series. Amazing and a pretty good ending.

This has a good storyline, but I feel like there is too much focus on the unnecessary, the author just skims over the ending and leaves so many plot holes. Also for a RH book I’m also not a huge fan of the ending sex scene... that was beyond disappointing and boring.

Interesting story.

I enjoyed this book. The characters were decently developed and the plot was interesting. I found the heroine to be a little annoying with her primary emotion being anger. Besides that, it was a good book that I would recommend.
