When I first read the title of this book, the possibilities seemed endless. The fact that I won it as a first-read seemed like destiny was calling. The time seemed right to usher in a new age. I wondered what sort of uniforms my personal guard should wear. Would I be responsible for sorting out the Middle east or could I just send them to their rooms? Where should I situate my new capitol? So many decisions to make...

Joking aside, this book was an odd read for me. It just didn't capture my attention. From the cover, you get the image of something that will let you make drastic changes in your life (if you want them). On the inside, there is a lot of the standard self help things that you need to do to improve your life, couched (no pun intended) in semi-metaphysical words like "telepathy" and "intuition." Most of the advice is what you would hear in other empowerment books. (e.g. "stop dwelling on past issues" becomes "don't allow people in your past to continue to telepathically hold conversations with you")

One of the things that Ms. Day asks is that you follow her exercises and write things down, which I have done, but I haven't seen anything outside of my normal perceptions. I do believe in the power of the human mind and that it can provide many answers to us through "intuition," but felt that this book was so focused on getting what YOU want that it put down in places peoples belief in other things besides their own power.

All in all, this is a decent self help book that could be good for many people. To me it felt like it couldn't decide wether it was a self empowerment book, a new age spirtuality book or a buisness guide. Maybe it could be all three to some people but not to me.

I think the guards would need ceremonial swords, don't you?

Laura Day is the real deal. I've been dying for another book from this talented and gracious woman. Even if,...especially if, you don't believe in intuition and similar innate human abilities, Laura's book will show you that you don't have to believe for it to be true. She constantly encourages analytical thinking and recording your observations so you can test the results for yourself. Why wouldn't you want to harness a power you already have for your own benefit??

I highly recommend this book and all others by Laura Day. It's made a positive difference in my life. The best part is I don't rely on anyone else to help me figure out what's best for me. Finally, real and true personal freedom and power.

"We live in a world of constant activity, always doing, in motion, on task. The reality is that your truest successes come not only from what you do, but more so from your preparedness and ability to gather needed information in advance. The doing piece is actually tiny, but only if you have laid down the proper foundation of readiness. Everything is available. Your only task at hand is to position yourself properly to receive it. Think of yourself as a perfectly designed state-of-the-art radio. You may be able to send and receive all the right signals—but only if your power is on."

It was ok. More generalized than I had anticipated. That said, I think it's also one of those that needs to be read multiple times to get the full effect/impact.

It really is an awesome book. If you've read any of Laura's previous books you will not be disappointed. I especially liked her advice on how to use intuition for relationships (VERY practical).

If you're interested in picking up this book or you're a fan of Laura's books, you might want to check out MindBodyGreen's interview with Laura as she talks about the difference between "belief" and "intuition" and shares more of her insights on intuition and How to Rule the World from Your Couch.

I somehow came across Laura's Instagram Live community in a very difficult spell after I had managed, to put it bluntly, to make some very bad decisions that had some very serious consequences on my life. I was licking my wounds and trying to sort things out when I came across Laura on IG.

I should say here that I work in an intensely analytical profession and my education has been the same. That part of my brain functions at very high levels. And yet, there I was, adrift in my own traumatic bath that was partially of my own making.

I started following Laura at a distance on her IG. She has her own parlance -- at least I didn't know the terms before. I hadn't ever tried to actively use my intuition. It was just not a part of the conversation in the way I grew up, the education I had, or the circles I ran in. And it wouldn't be -- it would be considered woo woo and dismissed. (I cringe at that, and think it in part arises from misogyny, but it's also true.)

But I had been beyond humbled by life and what I had at my disposal, and the more I followed along with Laura on her generous IG Lives the more I started remembering times I had put things together. I didn't realize it was "intuition" at that time -- I would have just called it common sense. But it was intuition because I did not have the relevant underlying factual knowledge at the time to come to the conclusions that I had -- and which generally turned out to be right.

Before coming across Laura, I had also pretty recently started to have images come to me of things that would occur -- and did occur -- in the future. I had no background or training in this. Again, it was well outside of any education or communities I was in. And frankly, not only was I not looking for it, I wasn't even open to it. It was too weird and freaky, and I had no one to share it with who would have bought it. This is called precognition, which among other things Laura covers in this book.

I also had recently started realizing that I could understand what was going on for people I didn't even know. Twice within the year I had come across Laura, I had mentioned something in passing to people I did not know and they responded with "are you psychic?" I was not used to this -- at all -- and found it scary and confusing.

Because Laura is amazing on her IG Lives and because I started making connections in my own life, I got How to Rule the World from Your Couch, her first book Practical Intuition, and did her boot camp program. I realized I had been doing some of her techniques all along without realizing it, while other skills like precognition, mediumship and telepathy had more recently arrived on the scene (in my case, sort of like a bat out of hell).

Laura takes these skills that are incredible in the plainest sense of the word and makes them normal and trainable. In Laura's world, they are not woo-woo (not that there is anything wrong with that, to quote Seinfeld). They are just skills, like any others. I really appreciated her normalization of that. It made it less scary and less weird.

Other people may not have these hang-ups about the skills that results in them feeling scary and weird, but I certainly did. Realizing at some point in your life that in some instances you seem to be able to tell the future or understand what other people are thinking or needing even when you do not know them and have no logical basis for knowing it was, for me, not normal at all. It was very disconcerting.

I am beyond lucky that Laura and her Instagram appeared in my life when it did. She has enriched my world so much, in her regular IG presence and by way of her education -- through her books, IG and her boot camp program. That she approaches it all in the most grounded of ways really has been so important for me to digest it. She is truly a treasure and this is a great book of hers to start with.

If you are done with books that introduce you to intuition development (such as Trust Your Vibes: Secret Tools for Six-Sensory Living) but put off with psychic development books that seem too woo-woo, this is the book for you. More organized than the author's previous book Practical Intuition. Fun read and you will learn something.

One star off because the title is misleading and because I generally don't go for book covers that feature the author's pic. (It just makes me wonder -- is the book about the author or for the benefit of readers? There are some exceptions, of course, such as autobiographies.)

Reading with 5 others and facilitator...interesting way to expand natural talents we all have. Not sure I will be a superstar in this arena...however, fun to experiment with 5 others I grew to respect and enjoy their perspectives. We did group exercises together that were very eye opening. Feeling to go beyond basic skills...would need lots more practice and focus than I have the energy to dedicate at this time. Future hobby in the making probably.

So I read this book when Ms. Day first published it and loved it immediately. Because I’m a home body. I wanted to see how I could affect the world from my own abode. But, guys, now in a pandemic, there is no better book for anyone and everyone. You are NOT powerless, even now! You are interconnected to everyone and everything and Laura Day will show you how to harness that connectedness to affect change right from your couch. A must-read, full of useful exercises and practices for living!

This was an interesting read from the point of research. Think of this book like reading a cook book. You tend to jump into the recipes of interest first, experiment, then make a decision about the recipe. Some recipes are better than others. Not quite something you read from start to finish, unless of course that is your style of approach with a cookbook.

Of all the books on intuition and healing I've read, this was by far the most practical.

It isn't outlandish or 'airy-fairy'. For the novice, practicing Laura's techniques makes using intuition easy and possible.

This is an incredibly helpful book. Laura's explanations are instructional and provide confirmation for things that are occurring but were previously unclear.

If you're at all interested in intuition, this is worth reading. To be honest, for me the most interesting idea was her continued emphasis on the need to practice embodying your best self as part of the practice. I have been trying to consciously embody my best self a few times a day, and I can feel a shift in my thinking.

The audiobook narration is good. She read the book well and has a pleasing voice.

Why less is more, more often

How to Rule the World from Your Couch , by Laura Day, is an unofficial follow-up to The Circle, where she writes more on the notion of energy as a method of shifting the forces of fate around you. In The Circle, Day listed that the second element of wish fulfillment is embodiment. Embodiment is defined as the ability to fortify your senses in such as way that your entire being feels as if your wish has come true. It’s like the expression, "I can almost taste it," when describing an imminent victory.

Day does touch upon remote viewing and how one can use energetic states to attract a person for a romantic relationship. Remote viewing is a controversial topic and gets into New Age territory. This is the part of the book that makes it harder for logical minds to relate to.

Like Day’s other books, she includes exercises and guided meditation practices to put her techniques to work. How to Rule the World from Your Couch overall is a practical and down-to-earth read. Hopefully there will be more sequels to The Circle soon.

the last time I read Laura Day was when she appeared through the Learning Annex. Her current book at that time was the Circle. It was a Friday afternoon late in the spring many many years ago. I decided to make the trek downtown as a 'stress buster' after a long and stressful telcon in prep for a joint meeting with the Chairman (PJC). I got to the session and saw sitting across from me in the room the HR Manager. There went my stress relief. I acknowledged her but maintained my distance. Laura's seminar that day provided hands on techniques to fine tune intuition. I paired up with a young man who had what looked like bowling shoes on. I laughed my head off afterwards thinking about some of the things we all did to 'feel the energy'.
The early chapters of this book feels right on target.

I won this book from FirstReads. I think that the description of the book is a little misleading. I thought the book was going to be about when to follow your gut vs. your mind, how to discern the importance of various facts, etc. Even some light visualization and intuition would have been fine with me. I couldn't get much further than the first chapter in this book because it deals with a number of paranormal matters (ESP, etc.) I don't mind reading about those types of things, but I do mind in a self-help context. It's just not for me.

I have too many other books that interest me to try to finish this book.

This book's title is extremely misleading. It suggests the fact that practical tips useful to anyone would be introduced. However, the book goes on to recommend trying rather paranormal activities such as channeling your thoughts and "body heat" via your mind to another person. This might all be well and nice to experiment with every now and then but it is not acceptable as serious "tip". Everyone has intuition and it is a relevant message to encourage people to use and trust it. However, the exercises Laura Day puts readers through do not lead to any kind of value you can apply to the real world. This book is neither worth the money nor the time to read it.

I was really excited at first. It seemed like a how to "ap into your own intuition" book. But, I found the exercises difficult to understand and intititate. Also they did not yield results for me. I find meditation and prayer to be more helpful in learning to trust myself and God. I would recommend these for anyone wanting to tap into their own intuition or God.
