Lindsey is a bestselling Science Fiction and Fantasy author who lives her life with one foot in a book—so long as that book transports her to a magical world or bends the rules of science. Her novels, from Science Fiction Adventure to Time Travel Romance, always offer a hearty dose of unreality, along with plenty of history, mystery, adventure, and romance.
When she's not working on her next novel, Lindsey spends her time hanging out with her two little boys, working in her garden, or playing board games with her husband. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family and their small pack of cats and dogs.
DISCOVER WHAT'S HIDDEN--a powerful, mythic race, an ancient Egyptian prophecy, and a love strong enough to shatter the boundaries of time.
Alexandra Larson isn't quite human, but she doesn't know that. Lex simply considers herself an ambitious archaeology grad student with a knack for deciphering ancient languages. When she's recruited to work on her dream excavation, Lex's translating skills uncover the location of the secret entrance to an undiscovered underground temple in Egypt. She is beyond thrilled with what she's found...as is the enigmatic and alluring excavation director, Marcus Bahur. As the relationship between Lex and Marcus heats up, a series of shocking revelations leaves the young archaeologist reeling. Together, the couple is all that stands between an ancient, evil god and the power to alter the very fabric of time. Events set in motion by a dying god over four millennia ago pull Lex and Marcus away from Seattle and into the heart of Egypt, where they learn that the fate of the world is in the hands of a single person: Lex.
This entire weekend I wanted to sit back and read a few stories but as life has it I could not. I did however, get to finish this captivating book. I loved the storyline and each page had me excited to turn the page. The characters jump of the page at you.
This book is a true love story in every sense of the word. I recommend and readers who are in love with the idea of love because this series makes you fall in love with the idea of falling in love. I could see this book becoming a movie and merging all the books into a blockbuster! Seriously it's just that good.
This book was recommended to me by my best friend Kelsey. While she was in love with it, I had serious issues with some of it. For one, in the first book, Lex is more or less a Mary Sue character that is rather annoying. Now to this day, i have not idea what the purpose of either of her friends were and why the author bothered putting a traumatic rape scene in the book that did nothing to lend itself to the plot. This was a horrible idea. The novella came next and was interesting because it tied into the third book. There’s a statue that Marcus owns commissioned by Leonardo Da Vinci and it looks like Lex. That’s it. That’s the plot The second book was my FAVORITE. The jump into the past and learning about powers and smutty sex scene. It was the most well thought out and original of the books. The next novella seemed pointless and not really important. The final book in the series was the biggest disappointment and why this series went from being 4 to 3. Actually, this started as 3 then went to 4 and back to 3. The time jumps were too quick to enjoy the scenery and I saw too much of side characters that I don’t care about. I get it, the author was setting up Kat for her series but WHY? If you make a series someone loves, they’ll read more in the same universe. DUH. You took a decent series and made it average at best. All in all, could’ve been better and the ending was mega disappointing.

The story was unique and well developed including the characters world, but the beginning of the book is slow to action so I recommend waiting it out a bit to give the book a chance before abandoning the story as I almost did.
Lex had some admirable qualities as did Marcus and their thoughts, feelings, and actions as well as their flaws were believable.
Some of the book is confusing though and there were several questions left unanswered. Perhaps those questions will be answered in the next installment but I wasn't a fan of how the story began to be told from Kat's perspective. My heart broke for Lex as it relates to the time she lost with her family.
Overall, great read but I still found myself skipping through some of the descriptions to get back to the dialogue and action. A bit too much time jumping for me as well.
I stopped reading very early on, so take my review with a grain of salt. It probably gets better, I just got annoyed. The writing is good and the storyline interested, but Alexandra is so dramatic at times. When she find out about the prophecy, for example.. She was hysterically dramatic in a completely unnecessary way that was more annoying than understandable. That isn't what caused me to stop reading, though. Not long after that, Set shows up; and unless I'm misunderstanding, Set and Marcus are cousins? Which would make Alexandra and Marcus cousins, as well. Is that not weird to anyone? I do understand that mythology regarding Eygptian, Norse, etc., gods tends to be run through with imcest pretty heavily, but why is it authors want to keep the incest going with their main characters in FICTION books? I can't even begin to tell you how many books in the god and goddess type of genre where the MC and the love interest ended up being cousins, uncle and niece or so on...its disgusting and no matter how good the book is, I always stop reading immediately after I learn that bit of info. I don't know if other people just don't connect the dots, or if sex with your cousin isn't taboo to more people than I realized, but I don't know how these books always have high ratings.
Truly, this has been a fantastic series, filled with a strong, smart, reluctant heroine, powerful, loyal friends, romance, time travel, and ancient Egyptian culture. It’s creative and one of a kind. Plus Lindsey is an excellent writer, plain and simple. I’m so sad Lex’s story has ended. I wish she’d write more of her and Heru’s life together. I thought it ended abruptly, felt cheated over the missing years. That was the only disappointing thing about the series.

My true personal rating is 3.5 stars, but that's not an option in this rating system. To me, this series was uneven. Parts of this trilogy grabbed me, some of the characters appealed to me, but about half the time it was the opposite. Sometimes I'd want to keep reading well past bedtime to find out what would happen next, and sometimes it was an effort to make myself pick it up again. The premise was different and interesting, but it seemed that certain sections dragged on and on while others rushed through on adrenalin. The main character (and, eventually, a 2nd character) spent way too long mentally agonizing about this or that; their inner dialogue would go on for pages and pages and continue to crop up long after their feelings had been exhausted. Yet I often felt other characters in the story were not developed well enough to be more than one-dimensional. Still, it was a good story and fairly well written. I'm sure lots of readers would greatly enjoy this series.
If I could give these books more stars I would! These books have everything a good book should have, it makes you cry, laugh, love. It’s a series that if you read on the bus or train and you start talking to yourself except your really talking to the book you don’t care in the slightest. I do have a word of warning ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ Be careful when you start them because your not going to want to put them down. I am a speed reader and it took me 12 hours to read the entire set and I STILL can’t go to sleep because I can’t stop thinking about the characters!
I love Fairleigh's original Time series and have just read it for the third or fourth time. The amount of Egyptian jargon may get some people but I'm a frustrated armchair archeologist so I enjoyed it. If I could, I would actually only give this series a 4.5 star rating for some awkward new writer transitions but she's fixed all that in the Inkwitch series. She's a good writer with strong consistent characters over the course of multiple books which is harder than most people know. I would definitely recommend reading and continuing into the next.
Oh man, this story takes you multiple places in different time periods. There are also a lot of characters. I don't know how the author did what she did. It was done well, but I got lost asking "why does that have to happen?" Or "why is he mad?" And "what's the big goal here?" Heavy research must have been done in writing the books. I respect that. They were all enjoyed 😊
An original well researched story. I have never heard of it read this take on ancient Egypt, but for some reason it makes sense. The story was not fulfilling and I kept reading because of the potential for it becoming an epic tale, but alas it fell short.
I have never been a big fan of time travel stories but this series has changed my mind. The interweaving of Egyptian deities history and the real world building is seamless and engrossing. Started this journey with INK WITCH wish I had started here.
Loved the love story and how it unfolded, the author developed strong characters although at times a?little unrealistic. I also found that there were times that she was repetitive, as if the reader was forgetting previous details. It was a good read and interesting.
I wanted to give this a 2/5 but gave an extra star because the ideas behind the book are really cool and had potential. I really wanted to like this series since a lot of the reviews seemed really positive. I think the plot had the potential to be really different and cool but it fell short of the mark. The idea of the book is interesting but after reading books 1 and 1.5 I had to stop. I was really trying to finish them because I purchased the whole series but just couldn’t make myself.
The author had a good idea, but I don’t really care for her writing style. Some aspects of the plot were drawn out and then others abruptly resolved without the slow burn reveal of authors like Sarah J Maas and Leigh Bardugo. I was recommended these books by fans of ACOTAR and Six of Crows etc but was disappointed.
Spoiler!! Fairleigh, for example, sets up finding the entrance to the secret temple in the first book as a big part of the plot, but then puts the main character (who was supposed to be the only one able to find the entrance) into a coma for three months and when she wakes up the other members of her team have somehow managed to find the entire temple and it’s only discussed in a few sentences.
I also don’t like how quickly Lex and Marcus got together. That seemed very rushed. So far their relationship also seems very immature. Marcus continuously hides things from Lex even though they’ve argued several times about how she doesn’t appreciate that. They seem to have the same arguments over and over again. Lex also just doesn’t strike me as a mature character in general. She reacts rashly to many thing, but at the same time sometimes she will have a huge reaction to something and be very upset but then seem to just let it blow over and give up her anger without resolving any of the issues. That irritates me as someone who is looking for strong female characters.

>Book Review – The Echo Trilogy >I am an independent reviewer. This box set contains all 3 books in the Echo World series and 2 novellas. The books revolve around time travel and ancient Greek gods. There is a prophesy to save the end of the world and an evil god who possesses anyone around, causing anyone to be a bad guy. The main characters are Lex and Marcus. They have an epic love that spans time. The time travel aspect of the book is both a plus and a minus. On the plus side, Lex (and the reader) get exposure to different time periods. The different customs, ways of living, working and eating were all really interesting. It was heartbreaking for Lex to meet Marcus’ past loves, wives and children, though. >The time travel was a minus in that Lex was jumping back and forth in time a lot. Sometimes other characters she would meet would know she was coming. Other times she would leave herself a clue. I didn’t like that the time travel and its result kept Lex from experiencing early motherhood. The time jumps were too similar to the dreams and visiting the “At”. At times, I could tell what was happening. >The surprise of the bad god possessing anyone at all, caused a lot of scary moments. The first books in this box set was a slow burn romance between Lex and Marcus, as Lex learned about herself and what she is able to do. The second books in the box set had too much time with Marcus and Lex apart to carry the romance. We do visit Marcus, but as Heru and with other lover interests. >This box set is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this box set 3 stars. The story tried too hard to surprise the reader and ended up too confusing.
What a trip through time especially ancient Egypt this trilogy is. From the present day when there is a need to restore balance to the universe, Alexandra strives to jump through time to protect herself, her bond-mate, Marcus (Heru) and her future twins who would be the ones destined to restore balance and keep the universe from unraveling. I really enjoyed the story of Marcus and Lex, Marcus's sister, Aset (Isis) and her son Nekure (Nik). The Netjer pair Apep and Ra (Nuin) and the fact that Nuin started the Netjeret linage with the children who were born to human partners with an altered chromosome that allowed them to not only live centuries, but to also regenerate from most injuries. Lex had always thought of herself as an ordinary human with a passion for archeology and the study of ancient Egypt. When she begins to have visions and then is attacked, she finds herself swept up into the Netjeret world and learns that her grandfather did not actually die, but is over 2000 years old and that through in-vitro fertilization, Lex's biological father is Set who was possessed by Apep and that she is now the Mewswet (girl-child) who is to be either the savior or destroyer of the universe. What an interesting read this trilogy is. It keeps you reading and wanting to learn more.
Wow what can I say. I now want to travel to Egypt and see some of the Egyptian tombs described so brilliantly in these books. It's really hard to tell you what this book is about without giving too much away. Lex(Alexandra) is stunned when her mum tells her that her father isn't her biological father. Then she starts having visions of things that have happened or are going to happen and worries that she's going crazy. But the truth is crazier still. She's always been interested in archaeology especially Egypt. So when her professor recommends her for a trip to Egypt to go on a real dig to find a lost tomb ,lex is thrilled. It will take her mind off her new found knowledge about her real father. Plus the head archaeologist is stunningly handsome. But it's the start of a thrilling, time hopping adventure and she's more than human. A brilliantly crafted story through time, with an love story, Egyptian history and gods all in this fantastic complete trilogy(with 2 mini novellas included). I've recently only just discovered the talented writer Lindsey Fairleigh and I'm so glad I did. I'm gradually working my way through all her books and can honestly say this woman has an amazing imagination.
I don't often give 5* but this series of books are fantastic and a wonderful refreshing concept on time travel and the supernatural I could hardly put it down and haven't slept much the past few nights. It met the full range of emotions I laughed was astonished had wtf moments and cried I would defiantly recommend this book In these books you have a normal human woman who finds out she's not so normal and not so human she meets her soul mate and find a out she's destined to save the balance of the universe she's a target of a psycho Set and then is flung back in time to ancient Egypt a place she has always loved now she has to get home and make some magical babies and carry on avoiding the psycho she's then transported back in time by her unborn children further and further back each time and then has to find her way back to her family. And as interesting as this side of the story is you have more to fill it out I'm not keen on spoilers tho I read the Kat Dubious books before these they were equally fantastic and didn't ruin these books tho after reading both series I wish I'd read then in order
I've been fascinated with Egyptology since I was as a kid. It was because of this Lindsey's books popped up on a suggested reading list for me. After reading the synopsis, all I could say was "Dear lord - please don't let this author ruin Egypt for me" After reading the first book, Echo in Time, I was hooked. From the well-developed characters to the storyline, to everything in between, I had to buy the entire series. The surefire way to know a when an entire series is worth the investment: You read and re-read them often. This series did not disappoint!!
The Echo Trilogy has it all: Family secrets (Who is Lex's father? Why did her mom keep it from her?) to mystery (Just who is Dr. Bahur? Why is Lex suddenly having prophetic dreams?) to my favorite thing EGYPT MYTHOLOGY (and thank you Lindsey for being so knowledgeable about mythology and incorporating that perfectly in the books!!!) as well as the perfect balance of romance (Go stake your claim Lex!! RAWR!!) I couldn't put it down. From page one through book 3 (I don't count the .5 books) I spent days exploring Egypt (both Modern day and Ancient) through Lindsey - I mean - Lex's eyes.
The first book is the worst though, as far as the writing goes. Even the plot at times seems too contrived and far fetched, for fantasy fiction. But if you can somehow read past the clunky sex scenes, the at times terrible prose and grammar, moving to the second book is easier and worth the wait.
Second book onwards, things definitely get better, and the plot starts to gain greater definition too, with an interesting emphasis on time travel. There are shades of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander thrown in, however the trilogy has more than enough merit of its own to make it a decent read.
I'd rate the first book a '2', the second and third a '3'. The best part for me though, is the absolute change of pace and prose in the next series set in the 'Nejeret Universe' - The Kat Dubois Chronicles. So much better, but to enjoy those, the Echo Trilogy has to be read (and suffered through) to its end. The end btw is abrupt, and unfocused, and has all the sense that a hassled for time author makes, when writing to publish within a deadline.
I tried this primarily because of the premise of it being set (at least initially) in Seattle and the inclusion of Egyptian history/deities as a central aspect of the plot. However, although the first book was the least objectionable from a plot-and-character-driven perspective, it has so many trite aspects that it came off as a rather more "sparkling Pacific Northwest-dwelling vampire-but-not" type of Deborah Harkness trilogy than the "ode to ancient history" I was hoping for. There was so much potential for a really immersive exploration of Ancient Egypt, and it just all sort of fell flat for me, particularly with the second and final books. The constant hopping around in time started to feel draining and contrived; and the ending of the third book just felt hasty and a bit one dimensional, and I ended up speed reading through the majority of the third book just to finish. There is a "second" series featuring Kat apparently; but by the end of the third book I just couldn't care less, and won't be reading any more.
This series was gripping, well-written, and well-paced. The author, Lindsey Fairleigh, obviously knows a lot about ancient Egypt and really drew me into her supernatural, time travel world. I loved the main characters and really got to know them through the course of the series. It was so well-written that I got deeply invested in Lex, Marcus and their quest to save the world.
My only issue was that it seemed like the third book was more an introduction to the spin-off series where Kat is the main character with a quick wrap up of the Echo trilogy.
Overall, I still liked the series a great deal. However, the last book will keep me from rereading and rereading this series and recommending it without reservations.
One last thought - why not do a spin-off on the twins? It seems like that would be quite exciting.

Holy Sh*%!! I just read 3 books and 2 novellas in 3 days 😳 these books were so good and totally unlike anything I’ve personally read before! I was enraptured pretty much immediately and quite literally couldn’t put it down! I’lol be honest I had no idea what I was getting into. The cover was nice and it was free with Prime read so I thought why not check it out. I honestly THOUGHT I was about to read a shitty romance story but I couldn’t have been more wrong! I was so surprised and so pleased. Now I need me some more Lindsey Farleigh! If your debating reading this series, DON’T! Just read it!
This series was ridiculously good, to the point that I have a new interest in ancient Egypt that I’ve never had before. Seriously immersive books that I devoured in one week and now, thankfully, I can can continue with the Kat DuBois chronicles (spin off?) because I would have serious book hang over if not. I won’t give any spoilers, but there are seemingly meaningless characters who become major players, loose ends come together in ways that are genius, and you *feel* how Lex does when she is heartbroken, her hopelessness, her happiness. Awesome author that I will be following!
What to say about this book? It’s a very slow start filled with many cliches. If you are looking for an evolved love story, this isn’t it. The male protagonist seems to fit a ragingly unhealthy stereotype that I see creeping into more and more YA fiction. The controlling, egocentric, make-you-beg-for-sex, arrogant swaggering male that oozes toxic masculinity is not for me. That said, the 2nd and 3rd books are better written and gave a few surprises, but the ending to the series seemed a bit rushed and if you are looking for things to be totally resolved, it doesn’t really do that.
I wasn’t sure I would like this author, but the series was recommended to me by several other readers of another author I enjoy—K.F. Breene. I started reading with trepidation but I was soon sucked in. This series is the closet to Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental World books I’ve read. It’s completely different than that series... to both author’s credit. But it has the a similar feeling.
I am looking forward to the connecting series following Kat’s adventures, which I have already purchased.
OMG! I wish I could give this 20 stars! .This is a love story wrapped in Egyptian history and mythology. There is time travel, conspiracy, and so much more. It took a long time to read compared to a single story, but it grabbed me from the first page and I found myself so absorbed that it was 2 o'clock in the morning and I did not want to stop reading. I am looking forward to Kat's story, which will carry on with Lex. Congratulations to this author. I am awed at your talent.
Intrigue, love, murder, survival, confusion, time travel, independence, dependence, Ancient Egypt, excavations, discoveries, verbal altercations, bloody fights and battles, this set of books has them all. I've laughed, cried, been astonished, sympathetic, had "a-hah" moments, and so involed with the story that I even read it after Thanksgiving dinner instead of doing dishes. (Thanks, Jenn, for doing them and putting away the food.) A must read for anyone who has an interest in ancient Egyptian mythology.
I have loved many books, characters, and series in my life, and many have made weep, laugh, and celebrate with them. Few have touched my soul as Echo in Time. This is the story I'd have written, if I was a writer. It's fascinating, heartbreaking, joyous, and amazing, and I absolutely loved it. I've always been interested in ancient Egypt and archeology, and I love time travel stories, which made this the most perfect series for me. Thank you, Lindsey, for writing the story of my heart.❤
You'll be charmed by the characters, invested in their lives, amazed at the history and intrigued when past & present tangle and weave through the story.
I've always told my children a good book will have your feelings invested. It's a damn good book (and even more amazing author) when you can FEEL the characters feelings. When you can laugh with them, be anxious with them. When you can cry with and for them. I loved that I could do that alk here.
I enjoyed this series very much. Having read the Ink Witch first, this gave a rich background to the rest off the Kat Dubois series. The writing was good and painted detailed pictures in my mind. The jumps in time were a bit disorienting but fit the storyline. The characters were interesting especially if you enjoy Egyptian history. An entertaining love story with a lot of action kept me interested for the 3 days it took me to read the trilogy - I couldn’t put it down for long.
