The Drone-masters are coming. Humanity is on the verge of extinction. And Earth has no idea.
The fires of intergalactic war have given rise to an unexpected hero. Medical scientist by training and ship’s captain by circumstance, Tag Brewer leads a band of aliens, a few humans, and a synthetic lifeform into the deepest reaches of unexplored space. They may be all that stands between humanity and utter annihilation. It’s up to Tag’s crew to unveil the shroud of secrecy surrounding the Drone-masters.
Anthony J Melchiorri is a scientist with a PhD in bioengineering. Originally from the Midwest, he now lives in Texas. By day, he develops cellular therapies and 3D-printable artificial organs. By night, he writes apocalyptic, medical, and science-fiction thrillers that blend real-world research with other-worldly possibility. When he isn't in the lab or at the keyboard, he spends his time running, reading, hiking, and traveling in search of new story ideas.
The battles never get any easier for the crew of the Argo. Having won one major war, Tag has to find who has started this. But he didn't expect to find what they did. Looking forward to reading more.
Mr. Anthony J. Melchiorri, author of "Shattered Dawn (The Eternal Frontier Book 3)," has taken a decent story in Book 1, and driven the rest of the series, down into the ground. It is bland, limp, contains systemic silly plots, and has some of the dumbest dialogue, this side of a bad comic book.
This reviewer enjoyed the first book, gave it a decent rating, and hoped for more, with improvements in writing execution. Instead, the author has exhibited the worse symptoms of the hobbyist, amateur writer of this genre. The plots and writing have devolved so completely, that reviewing points of criticism, is not worth the time. This reviewer wasted enough time, completely reading the drivel and will not waste more. [Spoiler Alert] If a plot, a narrative, a storyline, climaxes with the good guys taking down the bad guy, in what is basically a simile for an unsecured, public, coffee shop, WiFi style plot device, is acceptable to you, maybe you like this book. For me, it's way over the top DUMB.
"Shattered Dawn," is not recommended and was fully read via Kindle Unlimited.
EDIT: Still loved this guy! The introduction of Ractor and the establishing of post-humans as the main antagonists is all done through the exploration of the generation ship, and it's a good plot device! I enjoyed listening to this one, and while there are definitely better written stories, this book is very entertaining and I really enjoy the story as its unfolding.
First review: this is one of the best series story-wise ive actually ever read, im excited for the next two books and to read more by anthony melchiorri
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I enjoyed the series very much, I enjoy all the cast of characters because each of them has their own personality, The only thing I do not like as far as character development is the captain he knows that he's a new commander of the ship and crew but he seems kind of a wimp. He knows he's putting his crew in danger but has not learned to increase his own capabilities such as fighting stamina body modifications ECT. I believe he needs to grow somewhat as each book progresses. I will continue to read the series because I like it. It's fast-paced mix with good science fiction and action. So please please in your next books develop the captains character a little more so he can hold his own while in a firefight, and increase the technology of the ship because they're going to meet aliens that I believe they can't hold a candle to what the present technology they do have if you like good character development except for the captain, science-fiction, battles against aliens, and a fast-paced Rob read this book, better yet start at the beginning and read the first one.
Captain Tag Brewer and the crew of the SRES Argo defend against a nanite assault
Captain Tag Brewer, once Chief Medical Officer aboard SRES Argo, now forced to the Captain's chair by loss. Thrust into his new position, he has gained the trust and respect of his little remaining crew. He is now Captain Brewer, in deed and in title. His small crew, anthropologist Sophia, silver-bodied, synth-bio droid: Alpha, uninfested Mechanic Coren and the small party of Marines: squad comomander Bull, Lone Star, Sumo, and Gorenado. This motley crew is searching for the Drone Masters responsible for turning most of the Mechanic race into drones with the use of nanites. The hope is to find the Drone Master and force him (or them) top return the Mechanics to full self control even on their home planet of Meck'ara.
Armed with information gained from the logs of SRES Hope, the generation ship lost hundreds of years before, they search Space for clues and directions. What they're going to do when they find them is . . . well, sorta not sure. But they're going to do SOMETHING!!!
The crew has bonded, finding respect for each other as they race against rapidly diminishing time to find the hidden enemy who is destroying Meck'ara and enslaving alien species for nefarious purposes. Amazing action and insight into alien species brings the action close and personal. I've bonded with these characters, broken bread and spilled blood with them. I've felt their pain and frustration as they just try to do their job! I've wept with them as they mourn lost brothers. I've gotten angry enough to tear chunks from my Kindle (I have another) and pull out what little hair I have remaining. Character driven? Yeah, I RECKON! The amazing story and the remarkable storyteller have brought another 5star book to a conclusion, but fear not! Another book in the series awaits! One or two books from now, I'll be able to get back to Tag and Alpha again! But, you can enjoy this one now! Amazing!
This story was impossible to put down, I lost sleep on it, but it was so worth it!!
Tag and his band of mixed xenos and humans are off to find what Captian Webbers real orders were. What we find is .... well you need to read it. I can say it's another awesome adventure.
We have a new, interesting memeber to the crew. We also have a new...ally? Well sometimes we are allies. We learn so much more about The Hope, what happened to them and learn so much more about the mysterious drone masters.
For all this book offers us in answers it just leads to even more questions by the end. The ending is not a 'cliffhanger' that leaves you frustrated. Things end neatly enough to be happy, but there are too many interesting questions left and definitely more story to tell. Right now I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
One will have to go far to find a more motley crew than that on the spaceship Argo captained by Tag Brewer. And a most accomplished one at that, too. The battle for Meck'ara is over, but the scourge behind it all, is still unknown. The time has come to find it and deal with it. Shattered Dawn continues the search for the source of the war and enslaving of humans and aliens for whatever dark reasons the instigators might have. Yet, no clues to their identity or location has as yet been discovered Or is that true? Tag Brewer might have an idea or two about that. Shattered Dawn by author Anthony J Melchiorri continues to take the reader to fascinating new worlds, new aliens, new danger as the plot twists and turns from one chapter to the next in the search of the masterminds of the war. Enjoy
Another excellent installment. Tag leads his crew and allies on a mission to find out more about the mysterious Drone-Masters, and of course finds more than he could have bargained for. The book is a fast-paced page turner that will leave you wanting more. Oh, and if you like Groot, just wait until you meet Raktor!
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is one awesome story and I love the characters. They will steal your heart if you're not careful. I can't wait to see what happens next. If you're a space adventure junkie you will enjoy this series.
Book number 3 of the Eternal Frontier has been fascinating to read. The story of Tag and his group of adventurous has been once agin very exciting to read. It is pure imagination and entertainment.
More action as the battles continue. Still no love interest. The characters could be a little deeper, but it's an engaging story. Intrigued where it's going next.
This is the third book and it is just as good as the other two. The collectors are very interested in this book. I’m looking forward to listening to the next book!
By the machines! I found the story enjoyable, and the interaction of the characters entertaining. A thread of hope, despite difficulties, permeates the story.
The more I read this series, the more I am attached to the characters. Despite the bad choices they make, I am some how drawn to wanting to know what happens next. Easy enjoyable read.
Tony giving this series to us was a very kind thing.
Josh here. What a wild ride this book was. This is the best entry in the series thus far and I found myself “nerding out” far more than I had anticipated. As I was about 2 hours out from finishing this book, I immediately went looking to see if book four was available in audio. Alas, it was not yet meant to be.
Tony did a wonderful job with this book in the EF series. Watching Tag and his hodgepodge crew travel across the universe, encountering beings that I was able to vividly imagine thanks to fantastic descriptions, was a very enjoyable time.
As an IT and security professional, I loved the references to computer logic processing when it came to Alpha and her ability to take part in only the most literal interpretation of an order. Another aspect of this book which drew me in was Tony’s reliance on science and tech based in reality. Knowing that Tony holds a doctoral degree led me to the conclusion that he was trying to add a good bit of realism to the story, making the story that much more interesting and engaging.
The Raktor was easily my favorite character in this book, although Ezekiel took on a very close second/third (tied with Alpha). Another fun part of the book was watching the relationship between the Raktor and humans shift. We see how an alien race might evaluate human behavior and mannerisms, determining how that behavior could alter its interactions with our species.
I am glad that Nick Smith recommended Tony’s works to me. Now that I am waiting on EF book four, I am going to move on to his Tide series. Very well done, doctor. An easy 5/5.
