Introducing: Deadpool 2099! Jump 84 years into the future for an all-new adventure with an all-new Deadpool! Who is this sci-fi Mouthy-Merc-Lady? And what's her connection to Wade Wilson? Plus: Meet "Masacre"-the Deadpool of Mexico! Did you know that Deadpool in Spanish-speaking countries is called "Masacre"?
This was a real disappointment. Gerry Duggan's Deadpool run up to this point has been fantastic. Feels like a return to Deadpool's stand alone stories of the past, where he's just a violent Bugs Bunny with stories that ultimately go nowhere. One of the issues is entirely in Spanish with no translation. Scott Koblish's art is just so-so. The last issue seemed to be part of a larger storyline, taking place in 2099.
This one was quite something and its hard to give it 3 stars as its a bit too much especially with the other language also being kept here.
So its basically Deadpool going about his day and going through ane existential crsis until he finds something with Sabretooth and then a tale in 2099 with his daughters going to war maybe and idk why include it here unless its gonna be a future storyline and again felt a bit boring but the main thing is highlighting other mercs and its an anthology so some are good and the others not very good and yeah the massacre character gets his origin but man Idk spanish and then reading like 40 pages filled with spanish text is not possible, I know they think its funny but its annooying so kinds killed the fun of this book for me but the art is cool I guess.
This one collects just three Deadpool issues but one of them is the massive 25th Anniversary issue so you still get a full-length volume.
The first one is Deadpool 2099 which follows futuristic Deadpool and isn’t as fun as I’d hoped - it’s actually quite boring and a bit of a downer.
The second issue is the anniversary one. Deadpool gets his own back on people who’ve insulted him, which is a sort of fun, ridiculous story, and then the rest of the issue is full of the Mercs for Money backstories. None of them are at all interesting and the Deadpool of Mexico, Masacre, story is mostly untranslated Spanish, so nuts to you if you don’t speak it (I don’t)! Also found out that “Deadpool” is called “Masacre” in Spanish speaking countries. Tyler Crook illustrates the Terror story if you’re a fan of the artist (it is the best-looking part of the book).
The volume closes out with a second Masacre story that’s full of intentionally badly-translated Spanish in a pastiche of Batman. It’s not as funny as it sounds and the dialogue gets really annoying after a few pages.
This is a meandering, weak Deadpool volume without any great moments or stories despite this being the character’s 25th anniversary - disappointing stuff.
End of an Error (I see what they did there) collects just three Deadpool issues but one of them is the massive 25th Anniversary issue so you still get a full-length volume.

This one started out with such promise, but ultimately shot itself in the foot. This volume collects three Deadpool issues (kinda a rip off if you ask me but I got this book as a gift so eh).
The first issue is an anniversary one about Deadpool getting back at people who insulted him in the past. I really enjoyed this story. It just *felt* like Deadpool. Shootout shenanigans, a “Help Find Deadpool’s Gun” that’s a map of the new Avenger’s Tower but labeled in the format of a “Where’s Waldo” comic strip (these two pages had me rolling), we see more of Mrs. Deadpool, Deadpool’s hot AF vampire queen wife Shiklah (if I had her body I would never wear clothes again), Harry Potter references, fourth wall breaking, and an all around good time!
Then there’s the second part of the issue…
The second part is about the backstories of the “Mercs for Money” from the last volume. I didn't find any of them particularly interesting and one of the stories is mostly in untranslated Spanish (WTF?).
The second issue is ENTIRELY in untranslated Spanish (again: W T F ??) and is a parody of Batman and the Joker, which I found extremely annoying not funny. But at least the art looked nice?
The last issue is about about a futuristic Deadpool in the year 2099 and wasn’t that fun to read. Found myself skimming most of the dialogue just to be done with this hot mess.
I would only recommend this to a casual Deadpool fan looking to turn their brain off for a couple minutes.
Hard to give this more than 3 stars, in fact even that was a push. There is only one issue attached the current storyline. That is good. Deadpool is losing it and looking to smite everybody in his book of grudges, starting with Iron Fist. Then we have a selection of mini comics with some backstory for the rest of the team. I liked most of those but didn't like Slapstick (he's a clown ffs) or Masacre (most of his was in Spanish). Then we come to my biggest bugbear. Issue 3.1. It's written completely in Spanish. I have no idea what was going on, the artwork for that issue was unimpressive, so there no reason for me to attempt to decipher the meaning of the panels. Total waste of pages :( And then we come to Deadpool 2099. If this is an example of the 2099 series then I hope I haven't bought any more of it. Deadpool isn't Deadpool, it's -- hope can't say because that little spoiler is the only thing that kept me reading to the end. Didn't like the story or the art style. And FYI the politicians on the tv were just a little too close for comfort in year current political climate.
It's been a while since I reviewed a Deadpool comic where I was left with a "meh" feeling.
This volume is basically an excuse to sell the anniversary issue as a volume. Which to be honest, is not even that good really... its a Deadpool story which basically sets up the next story arch, followed by individual chapters of each merc for hire team that Deadpool now runs. Each story had a different artist and from an art perspective, that was pretty cool. I did enjoy the art overall in the volume, which is why I gave it the extra star.
There is a good Masacre issue that is written entirely in Spanish. I know and can read Spanish so it wasn't a huge deal for me, but if I didn't know how to read this, I would be kind of ticked off. I thought that was the best issue and out of all the Deadpool merc crew, he is probably my favorite, so definitely enjoyed that issue.
However the rest of the volume is lackluster and the fact that I'm struggling to remember what else happens is the book is a good indication of the "meh-ness" of the volume. Recommended for completionists only.
I liked the first volume, but this was a mess of idea's and simplified plot. It's a mess of art and just never clicks the way it should. I really need to give up on certain Marvel books and to stop reading everything from the library. I mainly read this out of the enjoyment of the first volume and never checked the reviews for this volume.
Why the 2?
Not a great volume. It's put together as a volume in some weird style and I just flicked through some pages because it was quite dull. I won't take anything away from the art, but the writing is not great. These deadline pushed issues aren't the best idea, but others do okay with the model so you can't use that excuse for the lack of coherent storytelling here.
The "2099" story was really amusing, but there was a lot of wasted space in the next issue, which seemed to focus as much on the "mercs" as Deadpool. The final issues got back to Deadpool being Deadpool all on his own, and that's really how his stories shine. I hope we continue to see less of the "mercs for money" in subsequent volumes...
More a collection of random short stories than a story proper. The Deadpool 2099 issue is probably the best part. Kinda mad that they didn't include the English-language version of Deadpool 3.1, too.
Wow! This was terrible! I am so sick of the Mercs for Money. I'm not buying those, I just want my good 'ol Deadpool! Stop forcing that crap down our throats. In a way it's very meta. Everyone loves Deadpool now and wants to jump on that band wagon, which makes him a little less special. The same effect that having a bunch of fake Deadpools makes the real Deadpool less fun. Deadpool is great because he's the lone annoyance. A whole team of annoying is just annoying. No charm to it. How did Marvel sign off on this crappy crap. I've read almost every Deadpool issue there is and this is by far the worst.
Probably more like 2.5 stars. As much as Deadpool can amuse me, some of the story arcs can be a little...much for my taste. But I was in the mood for something silly and mindless and that's exactly what I got, so I can't really complain. It was kind of interesting seeing more about the Mercs for Money, and the first issue got a couple of chuckles out of me. But I didn't see the point of the one entirely in Spanish...couldn't follow it without a translation, obviously. And the Deadpool 2099 wasn't really my thing. Of course, I've never been a fan of Spider-Man 2099 either. I might read more of these when I want something mindless, but these aren't my favorite Deadpool stories.

Not a huge fan of this trade which sucks because I LOVE reading Deadpool comics, I usually read them when I want to laugh and just feel happy but this one just didn’t do it for me. There was really no continuation of the story and it was basically a mashup of a bunch of side stories which one of them I couldn’t even read because it was in Spanish. I think it’s awesome they put in a all Spanish story but I just wish they also added subtitles for those of us who don’t read in Spanish since that was a whole chunk of story I missed out on. I hope the third volume isn’t like this with all these side stories n actually contains some sort of plot or I probably won’t finish the series.
Untold tales of the non-Deadpool members of the Mercs for Money, a super-sized anniversary issue, an all-Spanish tale starring Massacre: the Mexican Deadpool, and a trip to the Marvel 2099 universe. This Deadpool volume was filled with fun, laughs, and tons of violence. I really enjoyed just about all of this book. The only part I didn't really enjoy was the Mexican Deadpool story. Being all in Spanish and considering I cannot speak a lick of it, I just couldn't read what was being said. Is it wrong to ask for an Spanish-to-English translation? Slapstick is featured in this book as is the 90s horror character, Terror. Both shine in the first half of this book. I'm thrilled that Slapstick has a series again. Now the House of Ideas needs to give the Terror another shot. Writer Gerry Duggan continues to thrill, so does artist Scott Koblish. But I think Amazon got it wrong- Brian Posehn isn't still on the creative team. He left shortly before this new series of Deadpool.
A shorter volume than others, collecting only three issues, and as a whole, it's not one of the best.
Firstly, one of the issues is entirely in Spanish, telling the tale of Masacre. One of the issues is a Deadpool 2099 tale, and not one of the finest issues this series has done. The last one is better, where our main character settles petty grudges, before coming on obvious set-up for further issues.
Right so the problem is I don't actually speak or read Spanish. Not even a little bit. And I have enough trouble following comics. Between that and the lackluster issue 7 (we don't even know any of these characters yet for me to care about the bonus stories, and the main story wasn't very well done), this could've easily been two stars. But the 2099 stuff? That shit is gold. I want to know more!! It's so exciting!!! So I bumped it up.
Basically collects three issues into the worst possible collection imaginable. You have one anniversary issue that's largely made up of forgettable short stories about Deadpool's current (annoying) cast. Then an issue almost entirely in Spanish, and I don't speak Spanish. Finally a 2099 issue, which is just exactly what you expect from a 2099 issue.
We get one issue which continues off the last volume and sets up the next one. We get six short solo stories featuring the Mercs for Money. We get one issue of Massacre told entirely in Spanish. And then we get an issue introducing Deadpool 2099 which has maybe three pages worth of actual content. Thoroughly underwhelming.
This is found very confusing as there was a random collection of volumes. The stories were ok, but lacked some depth. The storyline were also not connected at all so it was very confusing. Honestly it's the only deadpool comic I have picked up so that probably didn't help. Also the Spanish sections I did not understand.
As a collection, this leaves a lot to be desired. One overly long chapter filled with...filler material. One chapter in another language (Spanish). One chapter unrelated to the current story. These three things can work fine but not together. This was a disappointment.
