Do people actually read and believe this? I guess so, since it has a rating of 3+ on goodreads. I would have given it a negative rating if it were possible. With gems like "Logic is not real" (or words to that effect; I was listening on an audiobook not reading), and you can shape your reality, it was quite eye-opening as to the extent to which people are willing to suspend their mental faculties. I loved the story where he went to his ex-wife's funeral and it became all about himself. Some of the book was simply common sense - and has been written about far more effectively in other places. Not a waste of time to read only because I wanted to know what belief systems are out there.

I did not enjoy this book. It is a misnomer that it was written by Joe Vitale, as it is mostly a collection of his friends' writings. Most of the information is common sense, available freely online, or just irrelevant. If you've been a fan of Vitale's other work like Zero Limits or Attractor Factor, you may be hypnotized by the title of this book... but I recommend skipping it.

This was a tough read for me, and I've been trying to delve more into a genre of life-improvement, non-fiction. This made me feel like I was at a mega church receiving vague and general life instructions that had no tangible purpose or application.

I would give 0 stars if possible. This book is a compilation of sales-pitchy stories on how to be successful. It completely ignores many real challenges people face and sugar coats how easy it is to be successful and basically blames people if they are not successful. Oh if only life were that simple.

There are tidbits of common sense sprinkled throughout the book however there was an entire section on how to use and manipulate people to make money off of their human vulnerabilities. I kept thinking this must be a joke and any second now the author is going to say "Gotcha, are you even paying attention." I'm saddened that these "successful" people can't see their exploitation of others.

From the book, "people will pay any amount of money to have their inner states changed. People aren't happy. They have a desperate black sinking feeling within themselves that silently naws at them saying life can be better then this. They'll pay any amount of money to feel better. Often illegally. They will line up to take terrifying rides on roller coasters or sit in theaters to watch horror flicks and scream in fear. They will pay you to help them feel anything other then what they feel right now. When you serve them treat them like royalty. When you sell them a product make sure it is offered as fun, unique, or controversial. Change their inner state and they will make you rich."

Seriously, this is not a service!

Splendido.

This book deals heavily in the “Name it, and Claim it” theology. On the downside, much of the book consists of quotes from the books or seminars of others, whom the author credits in such a way that they began to sound like infomercials.

That said, there are a lot of interesting ideas here, and some of them I’ve already put into practice. You’ll get advice on finances, weight loss, jobs, optimism, and relationships. I recommend this to all who enjoy motivational and self improvement books.

Short and easy read. I think the title is the best book out of the entire book. Most of the work is a compilation of common sense information that is connected through brief attempts at humor. It really does read like an instruction manual - read the summary information and you'll have consumed of the books wisdom.

Războaie.
Probleme economice.
Afaceri proaste.
Șomaj.
Toate astea sună destul de rău, nu-i așa?

"Aww gee I've never thought about 'just decide to be happy' before!" /s

An entire book of platitudes written by self-professed experts who tend to be older men with advanced degrees. The complete disregard for people's life circumstances/privileges/psyche/personalities/experiences/barriers aside, the advice is simply impractical. Impractical as in it cannot be practiced. There is no definition of how to identify a "positive feeling" from a "negative feeling", nothing about how to put any habits into practice, getting over inertia, depression, hopelessness, and general existential questioning that exists for everyone who would be desperate enough to pick up this book.

It's basically a collection of quotes you see on bookmarks and mugs, expanded into short essays, mixed with humble brags about their own achievements. It is simply an insufferable read.

i liked this book because it had nice bite-sized nuggets of wisdom about success, becoming valuable/making money, self development, your life/happpiness, dealing with others, and how to take a step back and look at the bigger picture of what is imprtant to you. some sections were longer reads, but very readable. i also liked refrences to other books and websites (mostly self help resources)

i think half of the book wouldnt really be understood by youngsters or teenagers, until they had real jobs or had a lot of life experiences. but nonetheles, its a good book to 'plant a seed' in their heads and have them thinking about life, the present, and the future in a positive way.

i plan on getting copies for my family/relatives :)

I listened to this as an audiobook. This is a short collection of essays from various professionals on a scattered array of life issues. The book is not really cohesive and full of common sense cliches that don’t live up to its title. I’d maybe give it 1.5 stars since I didn’t DNF it but I just wouldn’t recommend this read.

Basically a repackaged version of "The Secret", complete with the occasional uncomfortable gem like "if you have a thingie* you're a boy; if you don't you're a girl, and that's all you need."

*I'm paraphrasing the exact quote since I listened to the audiobook, but I swear that is in fact the term the author used. Like, first off, it's a dick. It's okay, you can say it--you and about half of all people have one. We call the bits women have a vagina. They're not scary words, I promise. And, secondly--dunno, mate, but even in a strictly biological sense gender and sex are a bit more nuanced than that?

Which, honestly, sums up this entire book. Oversimplified assertions about reality of dubious veracity which I'm definitely not of the right generation or background to appreciate.

Which isn't to say everything in the book is nonsense--the author rightly states that "enlightened" folk from most religious, philosophical, or other backgrounds tend arrive at similar conclusions regarding the fundamentals of leading a fulfilling life.

Just. Maybe read one of those other guys instead.

This is an amazing and inspiring book. It provides profound wisdom and little-known methods for leading a better life in the clear, uncomplicated style of an instruction manual.
Life's Missing Instruction Manual uses humor and anecdotes to present actionable steps readers can take to take charge of their lives, get past any challenges they may face, and find fulfillment. It is filled with life lessons that most readers will wish they had learned sooner.
Each straightforward concept is clarified and brought into focus using examples from real life, and it also contains tips on how to use it in daily life. This book will help the reader gain confidence, make a plan for success, advance at work, establish rapport with others, improve time management skills, achieve money and happiness, and is full of rare knowledge and lighter comedy. It’s an interesting book.

*suomenkielinen versio

Kirja on täynnä maalaisjärkisiä totuuksia.

DNF, the first part of the book was okay, the author has various extracts from other smart people talking about life lessons and more or less good advice.

About halfway through the book, one of these "experts" a lady stock broker who had a lot of luck in life starts talking about how listening to God told her when to buy stock and when to sell a stock, and how God tells her how to identify liars and sociopaths, ughhhh I lost my interest around that point and promptly returned the book to our library.

Perhaps there was some good information in here, but not much. I caught a couple of different editorial errors as well. But what solidified this as a one star book was the section that addresses other people and how we should interact with them. Essentially it says people should play to others egos and manipulate them in order to market yourself or something you are promoting. Although this may get you what you want, what kind of relationship does that foster? Glad it was short so I didn't waste too much of my time.

Maybe this is a little wishy-washy for me, but I'm determined to take advice from anywhere. This is an interesting compilation of articles and even though it may feel like the authors are promoting themselves, it's good to have different perspectives together.

I don't think the audiobook was the best format for me, because sometimes I didn't know where one article finished and another started. And it wasn't very engaging, so I got distracted easily.

This book contains mediocre advice, (not so) humble brags, and essentially places the blame on the reader for dreaming/praying too small and not aspiring to lifestyles that will never be attainable for the majority of people. Be cognizant of the fact that its contents were written by a bunch of marketers hoping to market their product to you for their gain.

Do not read! This is a terrible interpretation of a generative AI summary of multiple books that turns to be literally a step-by-step action guide to seemingly become successful. It gives a very false perspective that if you do that all you will be "happy" without explaining why and what is the achievement.

Beyond the catchy title (which caused me to get this on audible), the material largely comprises recycled ideas, including the author's own and others' contributions. Even the audiobook narration is quite boring. Ultimately, it's a disappointing investment of time for those seeking life lessons or advice as the title suggests.

TLDR (or for an audiobook, TLDL?)
