I originally bought this book to attempt brainwashing, however i soon realise its very unethical to do so. I began reading this book sometime back but then stopped because of the NLP about NLP within the first few chapters, but i recently decided to complete the book and overall im very glad i did so.
Though as i mentioned the first few chapter are ironically attempted the programmes the ideology that NLP is the best, and occasionally criticising psychology even though NLP is pretty much just another form of psychology. I found this book very informative and somewhat worried that unethical people could take full advantage of some of the techniques to manipulate people in to doing whatever they wish. Even though i find the practice a brainwashing course, there are also some socialising techniques which (even though i pretty much already knew) were interesting.
So overall i'd advice anyone to read this book even if your not very interested in how the mind works but just for the eye opening subject it is. It may also help you realise just how many people within day to day life actually use these techniques, without realise they are.

Very Well written , the book explains the basics of Neurolinguistic Programming.

Except the chapter on Goal settings , every other topics were explained keeping NLP in mind.

This book is an introductory guide to anyone who wants to pursue NLP , very few exercises are given down, so if you are looking for Quick recipes for transformation, this is not the book.

But if you are thinking of seriously taking up NLP as a guide towards transformation, this books serves as the first step !!!

Thoughts
This is a completely novel topic to me and was very interesting. I liked the exercises I could use to better understand the new concepts and hopefully it can be somewhat useful in the future if needed.

If you are a fan of NLP, this is an easy reading and simple introduction. Well worth the read. If you are a detractor, there's no particular point in reading it, but you hew this already. If you are on the fence, the main difference between NLP and standard therapies is
a) it was not developed by psychologists or the medical profession. Hence such people generally do not like it
b) it focuses on modelling successful people rather than studying illness
c) it has an array of applications, outside physiological health
The main criticism is that it is pseudoscientific. If having read all this you are interested, then this is a simple brief introduction and one of the most concise books on the matter.

An excellent resource for an introduction to the NLP field.
I found this more of an overview than a practical guide tho. Most of the communication concepts mentioned make sense and are something to have in mind. After reading the book, I totally want to continue with the NLP methods and dig deeper. I love that with NLP, you can basically 'cure' yourself in minutes (as opposed to therapy where you can spend 20+ years just looking into your past). Definitely, something to think about.

I bought this book because I wanted to find a way to move on in life. I had a feeling of what Shah himself says – “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”

The book provides a highly accessible introduction to the techniques of neurolinguistic programming in nicely digestible chunks. It is an eye opener in many ways, especially as it is mindful in telling you that you can’t use this to change other people, but you can change yourself so that other people relate to you better.

Whether you want to learn how better to influence people, how to overcome phobias or how to prepare yourself for any situation, this book is an excellent starting point. It may be all you need in itself, and if not, Shah provides a helpful list of further reading and information resources to further your studies.

It warrants a second read or more to make sure you’ve fully grasped all of what it gives you. I found myself at times so enthused at what I was reading that I didn’t really take it in. Next read, pad and pen at the ready and then I can properly learn how to change my filter so that I no longer need to write things down in order to commit them to memory.

After reading two books on body language it felt like a natural progression for me to be introduced to the subject of N.L.P or Neuro Linguistic Programming. It actually goes hand in hand with body language and body language is an element of NLP.

At first this book hits you like a brick and it comes across as being a little bit convoluted and after reading the first few pages I thought I was inducing a nice juicy migraine. But each chapter slowly makes sense and makes fascinating reading. NLP is an amazing tool in any area of life whether it is business, financial, family or personal growth. There's a lot to get your head around in this book and it's not something you can just read and put on the backburner for a while. NLP techniques need to be remembered and practiced on a daily basis in order for them to be become a part and parcel of your life. I was particularly fascinated by the concepts of mirroring and visualisation, embedded commands and anchoring; I really want to learn more about NLP and perhaps see where it takes me.

Anyone who is interested in self help and body language could find this subject helpful. I did and am hoping to learn more on the subject.

Food for thought. I give it a 5/5.

This book is rather more breathless than the CBT one, less well written but with more practical exercises. I quite liked the idea of analysing amd changing your own discourse to make yourself a more effective communicator; I was however skeeved out by the gleeful way in which the author suggests that one can coerce others to do your will; it seemed to be lacking a moral compass. There may be a fine line between persuasion and manipulation, but I think the line is definitely there.
