The info section was put together well. Organized, fast read that gives you all the info and tips on getting it under control. I found the recipes weren't as helpful for me as most weren't foods I'd be interested in making or were things I already know how to make just as healthy or healthier without really needing a recipe. But it's a good place to start.

Didn't realize there was a newer version out, but this is what my library had in stock. That makes sense as this was definitely dated when talking about older technology for pedometers vs smartwatches, etc.

A little information, a lot of recipes. Standard stupid ADA guidlines on diet. A waste of time.

Well, it was free on kindle unlimited, so that's good. Recently I made a joke about how the media made it hard to determine the healthy way to eat. A blog reader quipped that everyone should eat like they have diabetes and call it a day. She was being funny (and I did laugh), but what she said made sense. I've been researching meal plans ever since. It doesn't hurt that my husband works for one of the big diabetes companies. He has me terrified of getting Type II.

I'm going to do more research because this book didn't cut it. The information on nutrition was very basic and focused on lowering fat/eating moderately. Over the last five years, low fat diets have been blamed for everything short of the downfall of modern society. Being told to reduce fats so much makes me nervous! There are a ton of recipes, but I can't comment on them since I haven't tried them.

I haven't seen too many books on pre-diabetes, so I guess I'm going to have to start reading the books on Type II diabetes. I don't know why the thought makes me so nervous.

First off, when you pick up a book where the introduction has at least 3 EASILY identifiable spelling issues, that doesn't make you feel confidant in the author as a knowlegable presenter. I got this from the library, and it made me laugh because the previous reader had marked up the page in pencil like my professors would in college. Things like this should have been resolved and fixed by an editor.
This book, as mentioned by other reviewers, was extreamily basic and at times misleading. I'm no professional in this area by any means, but I believe startchy veggies such as potatoes, peas, and corn should NOT be eaten by diabetics. They quickly turn into sugar, which messes with blood sugar levels. Also, where was the emphesis on sweets? Fruits are complex sugars, BUT they are sugars. Shouldn't they be eaten in moderation, for the simple fact that they effect blood sugar? I know after cutting sugar out of my diet, I turned to honey and bannanas. Only, I still had simmilar reactions in my blood sugar levels. I found that because these complex sugars acted simmilarly, I had to really cut back on that alternative sugar as well.

Just some thoughts, I have a lot to learn, however I was not impressed by this book and would not reccomend it to others.

(Gee, Lyndsey. Talk about calling out the author on bad spelling when you spell just about as well as a dead fish. >=-)

It was okay if you know nothing and are looking for a starting point. Looks like a large read, but its not...most of the book is recipes. I knew a most of the info from previous reading and online research...but I picked up a few new things.
