Sucks. Pun intended. It's one of the worst novels I've ever read. Great title, fun premise, so I had reasonable expectations of enjoying it. Instead I found myself reading a half-assed political tract disguised as sci-fi. Too bad: I liked the first chapter, which had good descriptions, a fairly well-delineated main character (who all but disappears after the first quarter of this slim tome), and some funny lines. It seemed absurd and delicious. But alas, it quickly got boring, with a cast of interchangeable characters and silly, unrealistic gee-whiz dialogue. This is supposed to be a punk classic from the '80s? Please. Also, I have never read a published work that contained so many typos. In short, this reads like a rough draft from an intelligent college-age rookie fiction writer. Oh, what a good editor and some significant rewriting could have done for this idea.
