Newcomers Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough star in Writer/Director Craig Brewer's hot new remake of one of the most beloved films of the 80's. The themes of this classic movie are as timely as ever: freedom of expression, the role of religion in community, defining family values, and-of course- rock 'n' roll and teen spirit.
I actually read the script of Footloose the Musical for the middle school show. The story begins as Ren, the protagonist, has to move away from his home. His father deserted him and his mother and now they are going to live with a relative. Ren learns that dancing is not allowed in this new town, Bomont, and tries to show everyone that dancing doesn't cause death and people need it to be happy. Ariel, Ren's love interest, is the Reverend's daughter and soon joins Ren's side and protests to get dance back. It's a cute story about a boy with a knack for dancing and the courage to stand up for what he believes in.
I absolutely love this book!it has romance, violence, action, and many unexpected surprises:) I think anyone can read this book ...and any teenage girl would fall in love with it as much as I was! I was soo happy to finish it because of the energetic ending.......but I did not want it to be over:( I absolutely LOVE Footloose!,!,,,!,
This was great! I love the new movie, and whilst you are reading this you can completely picture the movie. The characters are great and the author really manages to bring them alive on the page. Great work, very entertaining, I felt as if I was right there dancing with them! :)
I really, really like the book! I also love the movie as well. But there really isn't a difference. They're both the same. Anyway, I really enjoyed the book.
Movie novelizations are my jam! With the exception of a few scenes that weren't in the movie, easily 95% of this book is almost word for word, scene for scene and I loved it. I will say the movie runs a tighter ship with pacing and placement of certain scenes, but in some cases the deleted scenes/dialogue actually added to it which was nice. So I am thrilled to have this in my collection! I would gladly recommend this to readers and fans of the movie alike.
📚 Book Review 📚 Book: Footloose by Rudy Josephs Genre: Fiction Pages: 228 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I may be a little biased with this one since the 1984 Footloose movie with Kevin Bacon is one of my all time favorite movies ever. This book is based on the screenplay of the 2011 Footloose movie which I also enjoy. The book was spot on with the movie and it was a quick read for me. Now time to go watch both versions of the movie that I love so much
This one has been sitting in my bookshelf for a looong time. Even thought its only a little bit, i love it when a novelization have an extra content that didn't make it into the movie.

I will embarrassingly cop to the truth that, yes, I did read Footloose. I should also add here, that growing up, Footloose was one of my very favorite movies (obviously this would be the Kevin Bacon version), so much so, that my sister can not even stand to have the movie mentioned, let alone watch it, since I apparently made her watch it with me so many times.
REading this book, was exactly like going through the movie (at least what I believe the new version will be). Basically, a more detailed screen play in novel form. It was not written extraordinarily well and was probably quickly thrown together to get more hype for the new movie.
Honestly, it'd take less of your time and you'd probably get a bit more out of just watching the movie than reading the book. Especially since their descriptions of the dance scenes are not great or actually that descriptive at all. It's rarely the case that I'd suggest watching the movie over reading the book, but since this book was actually done after the movie, you're not going to get any new material to flush out your characters or storylines here.
Ren MacCormack moves to a small town where dancing and rock n' roll have been outlawed. Ren is naturally rebellious and when the things he is interested in aren't allowed he decides to create a rebellion among the teenagers and teach them how to dance and sing. This book was based off of the movie, which is a twist in itself. Overall the book was well written and the characters were okay. The plot wasn't surprising if you had seen the film, but still enjoyable.
First, first let me explain how this book even came to be on my bookshelf.
I found it at a dollar tree and I bought it for the sheer amusement over the fact that they even did a novelization of this movie. And since I bought it, u had to read it.
It probably would have gotten only one star just so I could put it on my read shelf and forget it, but it gets the second because I got a little something for it as it goes a little further than the visual you'd get in the movie. So it was okay.
This book was as great as the movie. It gave some more background on the characters which I enjoyed because I liked knowing all about characters. It took me only a couple hours to read this book because I couldn’t put it down; I was able to picture the scenes that were being described in the book thanks to watching the movie over and over
They did alright following the story line. I understand making it more modern with iPods Facebook and such. Maybe even his mother not moving with him to bomont. There was other differences that kind of bugged me. All in all the story line was the same and it was enjoyable. I found myself singing the songs that got with each scene.
I honestly would give this book a three and a half stars instead. I got this book for last Christmas, before the movie came out, and I wanted to read the book before watching the movie. So, I didn't watch the movie yet. I really want to watch it because the book was good! But, not the best. :)
Seeing as I love the original Footloose movie so much this book was great. Haven't gotten around to the remake but this was similar to the original. It was an easy read. If you like either movie you will like this light read.
This was a difficult one to rate. I love both Footloose films and the musical so I obviously love the story but I didn't enjoy reading it as a novelisation half as much as I enjoy it in the other forms. This was an easy read though and I got through it pretty quick.
I love the film but this book was brilliant. This book was more better and explameing as the story was easy and like the film but more discription and I love it and it wasn't a big book to read and I read this in 2 days as to when I had free time on my hands. Overall I LOVED IT!!!!!
I'll admit I have a weakness for movie novels; they're a guilty pleasure of mine. Add that to that fact that I adored the new Footloose, and it's guaranteed that I would love this. Enough said.
I thought this was an amazing movie and book because I've read this book a bunch of times. I recomend this book toa nybody who likes romance, dancing, and country people.
