1. I never knew that because of the Titanic sinking new laws were made regarding safety boats, radios always being turned on, and a way to alert boats of icebergs.
2. FREAKING CALIFORNIA SHIP.
3. This is a great introduction to the Titanic for kids.
4. That was no man on that door. It was Rose. And she didn't invite jack onto it.
5. I literally just pictured everyone from the movie while reading this book.

This non-fiction picture book is written about the world’s most famous boat, the Titanic. This book goes in chronological order, as for children will start from the beginning of the Titanic’s journey to its climactic, unfortunate end. Parents will appreciate what this book has to offer and teach their children about the history of the Titanic, as for this book contains factual information, containing dates, times, cities, and people. An easy read, children will remember about the Titanic for a long time.

This book has a stamp on the first stating that it is a level 4 reading book. There is a checklist stating that a level 4 reading book is for children in grades 2 and 3. This book is classified as a
“Hello Reader” book, which says that it helps parents read to children, helps children read to parents, and it’s for children to read to themselves. Parents can pick up this book for their children and see if the reading level is too hard or too easy for their child. The “Hello Reader” chart stands to be very helpful.

The structure of this book goes in mini chapters. This will help easy readers prepare themselves for their future in reading chapter books. Chapter 1 is called the “Wonder Ship” and starts out talking about when the Titanic was ready to take off to America. Each chapter is the next part of the Titanic’s journey. The last chapter, chapter 4, it titled “found at last” and it tells the child reading this that parts of the titanic are being found in the Atlantic ocean. The structure of the book also has only two paragraphs, at most, on each page. This will help children in for an easy read.

The illustrator uses such vivid imagery. The pictures are drawn and colored in with colored pencils. The characters are wearing clothes that would come from that time frame in life in the year 1912. Children will see many sides of the Titanic. When it first takes off, children will see this boat that is full of happy people on board. They are waving to their families on the dock, as the birds are flying over the water. Then children will see what the Titanic looked like inside. The illustrator drew and colored the boat as if it were split right in half.

You can see the swimming pool on the bottom floor, bedrooms for the poor people next to it, and fancy rooms and dining areas near the top of the boat. Children can help understand this when they read on in the book about how the rich people were fancied the most. It’s also helpful that the illustrator drew out how big the Titanic was when he drew it comparing to four city blocks long and as tall as an eleven-story building. Children will remember these visuals in their heads and will forever know just how large the Titanic really was.

Since this is a non-fiction book and everything in this book did happen, the clear setting would be in England, making its way to America. There are no protagonists or antagonists, as for it just tells the journey of the many different types of people, from all different places around Europe. This book does not tell their stories, as for it only tells the journey of the Titanic. The theme of the book would be that these people were coming to America for a new life. Some were coming for family and friends, others for jobs and money. Children will learn that people of that time wanted new and better things for their lives, but unfortunately, sometimes the worst happens.

I have to give this book four stars, because my oldest daughter was absolutely obsessed with it in her early years. We read it to her over and over again before she could read (it was requested relentlessly), and she read it over and over again after she learned to read herself.

The drama of a huge ship sinking into the ocean, and the strange story of how it was found at the bottom of a deep sea, grip the hungry young mind. There are many things that would do so, but this one hooked my daughter at just the right time, and she couldn't get enough. I must conclude that it was very well made in writing and illustration, and written at just the right level for early readers to gobble it up again and again.

An Amazing Find

When the Titanic Sank it was a sad moment, there weren't enough lifeboats and boats left half empty. It was really messy and over 2,200 people were on-board but only 705 survived. The unsinkable ship had sunk. Many people learned from this horrific disaster. Now we have safety rules to help in an emergency, follow the instructions of a crewmember, have enough life boats for every single passenger, have drills, keep ship radios turned on at all times, and there's even a ice patrol from the air which locates icebergs. Many people went on a hunt for the Titanic in hopes there would be loot on the ship for them to take. There was one man Robert Ballard, a scientist who studied the ocean and was looking to find the lost Titanic. He did, with his robot Argo, he went to the place where he thought the Titanic might have sunk and sent Argo down. He saw the sunken Titanic and left a note so if anyone else found her, they wouldn't take anything from her. This was a great discovery and ever since her accident we've learnt, grew, and ships have become a safer way to travel.

Main Character: Robert, Argo, and The Titanic
Problem: Sunken and can't be found
Message: Listen to Safety Precautions
Fav Part: Argo Robot finds her
Fav Character: Argo
Easy to Read Scale: 4/5
It's Educational and A Mystery

Read about the passengers on the Titanic and the events that unfolded on its maiden and final voyage.

The majority of the book focuses on what happened on the Titanic with the last couple of chapters on what has happened since that tragic day. I liked how it mentioned how nautical laws have changed since then to not repeat the same mistakes, such as all radios must be turned on at all times (the closest ship able to come to the rescue never did because their radio was off). The book has illustrations of the Titanic and its events. Personally I enjoy historical photos when possible.

Gosh there is something different I don't know of any other books written about the Titanic, well apart from the other 6,892,746 books but let's not get too picky, this is for younger readers who I am sure are interested in a boat sinking in 1912.
Reasonably done, but really there is more to history and ship wrecks than the Titanic.
But then I read the damn thing so who am I to bang on about it!

This book goes into detail about the biggest ship that took off in 1912 and its disastrous maiden voyage. This book gives all the readers with information of survivors and victims that were on this ship, and talks about the Carpathia, which was the ship that came to the rescue for these survivors. This is a great book to read to children because it helps give them the proper information about this ship and what happened that night in 1912.

Really straightforward book about the Titanic. I think kids will find it easy to learn about the story of the unsinkable ship and enjoy the soft pastel art.

As a fan of the Hollywood movie, it was cool to learn about some real facts about the ship (the California *facepalm*, safety laws, Robert Ballard, etc.)

Reads like a short documentary. Touches on the ship leaving, all the way to the aftermath when it gets found decades later. My son loves this book, but I think mainly because the story fascinates him. The text itself is a little dry, but it flows well and is a good challenge with more words for beginning readers.

Good description

Very good book. My almost daughter who was always curious about Titanic enjoyed reading it. It gives enough information about the beautiful ship while make it less scary for a 7 years old.

I did not like this book because I did not like the part when the Titanic sunk. I also did not like this book because I did not like the part when not all the people in the Titanic had been saved.

Excellent book. Perfect for about 2nd or 3rd grade readers. Excellent illustrations. I am glad that it didn't dwell on how they died.
