About the author

Mariela Kleiner was inspired to write this book when her daughter Hailey chose a grown-up book for her bedtime story, which happened to be Einstein's book, "Relativity." Hailey was a persistent two-year old, so Mariela improvised the story of Albert Einstein so that her daughter could understand it. Starting with "Meet Albert Einstein. He is a scientist," the story for this book was born. This is Mariela's first children's book publication. She currently lives in Northern California with her husband and two children."

This is a really impressive book because it teaches about Einstein in a few words. It's a perfect picture book to use for story time for toddlers because it's simple and direct. I really, really liked this book and I hope that more libraries take the time to order this book or if you need a book for a child, you will purchase it because it's a great book. Take a look at it, it's a lot of fun.

This was a wonderful book and one I'd like a copy of. It is a book for young readers (preschool/kindergarten/first grade) that enables them to learn about the concepts of science and what makes a scientist. It breaks down the concepts into terms they can understand. I would actually use it for any age. I learned from it and I'm an adult!

This book is an introductory book for kids as to who Albert Einstein was. This is a great book to introduce kids to science. It teaches kids what Einstein invented, for example light. It teaches kids what light is, where to find it, and different types of light. It also teaches them about gravity. What gravity is and what gravity looks like. I really enjoyed this book. The reason I wanted to read it was because my mother in law told me it is a great book to introduce kids to science and what a scientist is. I really enjoyed this book, the illustrations were great and interactive. I think kids would love this book because they can see the effects of light and gravity around them. When the book asks if when they jump do they come back to the ground they can always check and see that. I would add this book to my personal library because it is a great educational and interactive book. Again I think kids would really enjoy this book as long as the reader can make it interactive for them.

3. This book highlights the life and inventions of famous scientist Albert Einstein. It introduces early learners to the concepts of light and gravity, while the colorful illustrations keep it fun and engaging.
4. I loved this book because it's interesting and makes science exciting for children. Einstein is one of the most influential men to ever live, and this book allows children to easily explore his inventions and accomplishments in a simplified version.
5. This book could be used for a lesson on biographies. Students could learn to extract key facts and details about Einstein's life and scientific discoveries from the text in whole/small groups, or individually.

We really enjoyed this, especially starting with the inside cover/flyleaf illustrations. The book itself was simple, but engaging. The kids had a lot of questions about Einstein. When I got to E=MC2, Maren said "Project MC Squaaaaarrrreeeed!" It's a show she watches, LOL. I was able to tie that in to Einstein and we had a lot of good discussion about this.

This is a great tool for a parent, grandparent or guardian to engage a young child in the field of science and arouse their interest in future study. It promotes the idea of asking questions and seeking information. In gentle ways, it fosters learning, encouraging research and experimentation, albeit on a very basic level.
The illustrations are beautifully drawn. There is a cartoon like quality to them which invites the reader into the world of elementary science. With just a sentence or two on each page, the child is introduced to concepts like gravity and light, without stress or confusion. It seems easy and enjoyable.
The initial and final pages are filled with drawings of scientific tools and basic scientific concepts. Simple explanations are provided with each picture, i.e., a microscope shows “ity-bity stuff”.
This is a friendly book that just might encourage some of our young to become future scientists.
By the time a child would be able to read this book alone, the concepts might be too primitive, but surely, for a very beginning reader or as a read-aloud with a guardian, this book would be an excellent choice for pleasure and education, combined.

Meet Einstein by Mariela Kleiner is a cute book that introduces what a scientist does and who Albert Einstein was. At the end of the book there are facts about Einstein and some interactive questions. It could be read to preschoolers (I read it to my 5yo) and read by early gradeschoolers (my 8yo read it herself). I could see this book as part of a series on Einstein or other scientists.

While this is a cute book that both my girls enjoyed, I did have a couple minor concerns regarding clarity. The second sentence reads “He is a scientist.” Since Albert Einstein is no longer alive, I wonder why the author used the present tense. It also might be confusing that the author credits Einstein with discovering NEW things about gravity without mentioning Newton’s original discovery. Young children could easily yet incorrectly infer that Einstein discovered light and gravity himself.

We enjoyed this book and look forward to checking out more books by Kleiner and hope there will be more books like this that present science in a fun and simple way.

Einstein was a wonderfully brilliant man who explained things that all of us are in contact with everyday: light and gravity. These are perfect concepts to teach a young child because while reading about it, they are able to experience it. Meet Einstein puts the concepts and ideas on how to test it together for young minds to try for themselves. The front cover is incredible too; the different "tools of the trade" are placed there as well as an explanation as to what they are used for. This is a great learning tool for any teacher or parent who wants to have a hand in their child's education.

All of the artwork is extremely colorful as well as flattering for the subject matter. They are cute and eye catching. The shapes, colors, and cheeriness will make any child want to pick up a magnifying glass and strive to become the next Einstein!

A creative burst focusing on the inventions and questioning of Albert Einstein. It explains that scientists ask many questions about why things happen and how things work. Light and gravity are two areas that are shared as major discoveries. I found this book late in my inventors search and could not find more information to verify it was nonfiction. Great book to share with younger children K-3.

A MUST for parents of 2-5 year-olds...the perfect gift for anyone wanting to give a thoughtful gift to a small child. Introducing Einstein and science to little ones while making it accessible and safe. The author's voice is pitch perfect for pre-schoolers and the illustrations will charm adult and child.

I picked this book up as part of my Gravity DiscoveryTime, for preschoolers, as Albert Einstein is one of the three scientist who did major work on the subject. In this book, kids learn about what a scientist does, who they are, and the kinds of things Einstein studied, such as light and gravity. Recommended for ages 3-6, 3 stars.

This is such an engaging book for kids! Storytime wouldn't be complete without it. Learning about gravity, light, and the stars= COOL! The illustrations are adorable. This is a perfect book to get the kids back in the "school" mode because it is so educational.
