Als sie Vela schließlich treffen, scheint die letzte Schlacht unmittelbar bevorzustehen. Da greift der "steinerne Wolf", der Wächter des Steins aus Combat, in das Geschehen ein.

About the author

Wolfgang Hohlbein is a German author of science fiction, fantasy and horror fiction who lives near Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia. His wife, Heike, is also a writer and often works with her husband. She often comes up with the story ideas and therefore is generally credited as co-author. Their daughter, Rebecca, is also a writer.

Writing short stories since age 15, Hohlbein was first recognized as an author after sending in a manuscript he and his wife had written at a fantasy and science fiction writing contest in 1982. They won and their book, Märchenmond (English title: "Magic Moon"), was published by Ueberreuter Publishing, soon becoming a bestseller and winning several awards. It is one of their greatest successes till today.

Many of his more than 200 books are translated and published in many European countries as well as in South Korea. Yet for many years none of his works had been translated into English. In 2006, Magic Moon was translated into English and published in the United States.

Curiosamente, me ha gustado mas que el libro anterior de "La Piedra de Poder", cuando habitualmente es al contrario. Quedo más convencido de que la historia en general y el mundo de Enwor son muy buenos en lo que se refiere a fantasía, pero los personajes y como afectan a la trama arrastran la historia al abismo como un ancla... Al menos, aunque tarda bastante, empieza a haber algo de desarrollo de los personajes, algo que faltaba en el primer libro.

Lo único que me impide mejorar la valoración son dos cosas:

1. Los personajes se desarrollan con demasiada lentitud (libro y medio para empezar a notarse...) y de vez en cuando parecía haber una regresión para volver a repetir la situación que los hacia progresar, completamente innecesario alargar así ese aspecto de la historia.

2. Hay algunas situaciones muy absurdas que no tienen sentido alguno cuando se producen que restan mucho a los personajes...
Hay una escena donde Skar se pone como una furia porque El-Tra mata a dos soldados enemigos que querían matarlos porque "ha matado a personas inocentes" y, literalmente, en el siguiente capítulo matan a sangre fría a otros soldado del mismo grupo y Skar ni se inmuta cuando esta vez ha incluso participado en la matanza

Como su predecesor me pareció un libro muy bueno, escrito en el boom de la narrativa fantástica. Esta saga es un Hito que pasa muy desapercibido en Europa.
