About the author

Maryann Cocca-Leffler of NH, is the Author and Illustrator of over
60 books for children. Maryann’s book, Janine (2015) and its new sequel, Janine and the Field Day Finish (2016), were inspired by her daughter, Janine. Together they have developed a corresponding website, www.janinesparty.com with a mission to help change public perception of children with disabilities. Other books include, A Homemade Together Christmas, Bus Route to Boston and Bravery Soup.
Now a playwright, Maryann wrote a play based on her Princess KIM books. Princess K.I.M. The Musical won a National New Play Festival in 2012 and has had sold out performances on the East and West coasts. Princess K.I.M. The Musical is now represented by Stagerights.com, a licensing agency in LA to bring the play National.

Maryann grew up in the Boston area (read Bus Route To Boston!) and attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design where she received a BFA in Illustration. Her very first book, Thanksgiving at the Tappletons’ written by Eileen Spinelli, was published in 1982 and has been re-released in 2015 as a classic. When not in her studio, Maryann is traveling, visiting schools and attending her play.

A very cute and fun picture book! Beautiful illustrations and simple words. I read this to my four-year-old son and he absolutely loved it. Great cozy story for winter time!

Let is Snow is a book written with the preschool age child or early reader in mind. It is rich in descriptive word, rhyming and keeps young children's interest with repeated readings. When the young child tells you to read it again when you finish it the first time you read it, you know your have a book that they enjoy. The book covers many situations about playing in the snow including getting wet, coming inside for hot chocolate and snow days, no school days. It ends talking of melting snow and the first flowers of spring which shows part of the cycle our seasons follow each year. I will continue to read this book each winter and into early spring to my preschool age class.

My host teacher for Kindergarten gave me this book as a Holiday present and I love it! The pages are full of swirling illustrations and just enough text to keep a pre-k or kindergarten student interested. There are wonderful descriptors such as "...sloppy, slushy, melting snow" which would really get the idea across to students. I would use this when the seasons started to change to get the children excited.

This book is much like the author's earlier book, Let It Fall. It follows the same family and the three siblings as they journey through the winter season together - from snow days, to snow forts, snuggling under blankets. The illustrations are very vibrant and colorful. The illustrations are amazing. After reading the book, my daughter wanted it to snow so she could do some of the stuff in the book. It ends with spring coming, Let It Rain! So I assume we have more to look forward to soon.

I like this book because of the beautiful illustrations. It has very few words but they all are right on about the snow. I read this to my preschoolers and we were about to stop on almost every page and talk about it. All of my students said that they have played in the snow before so they knew what it was like. This book also gave them ideas of what they can do this year when they go play in the snow.

This book is full of adorable illustrations. Not only does it capture one’s attention with just its pictures, but the text is short and simple as well. This would be a great book to use for those readers that are just starting out, as they will be excited when they can read it by themselves. Additionally, this book could be used for both lesson about winter, as well as rhyming.

I don't think I have read this author before, and not sure if it's just meant to be easy for young readers or if it's meant to be a poem- but I like the flow, and word usage used.

Appropriate for the age group intended. The kids will enjoy this one I think.
