I've read a few mixed reviews about this book but I really loved the cover so it went onto my tbr pile.... I got the first of Dani Harper's books on a free kindle offer a while ago and I only recently bought the next two books, hence the reason to read them now...

Well... Everyone is entitled to their opinion, mixed reviews or not, I absolutely ADORED this book... I LOVE the way the author, Dani, smoothly wrote the plot with an almost instantaneous effect... no long dragged out introductions, just a jump into the storyline and away you go!!!

Connor, our leading man/wolf... WOW WOW WOW... (hot hot hot!!!) he is adorable, gorgeous and so sexy... and our leading lady Zoey is just as compelling and a whole lot more than expected...

I really loved the story, loved the plot, loved the easy read and, although we do have a predictable 'happy ending', it was well worth every word to get there.

Dani Harper has just climbed up onto my shelf of favourite authors!!!

Here on Goodreads I've found only positive reviews, so I suppose it's up to me to correct the misconception that this is a good book.

The story begins with a prologue containing some useless stuff written from the POV of the werewolf bad guy; in the first chapter, Zoey is attacked by said bad guy. In defending herself, she manifests some grit that's going to be drowned in tons of fluff and giggles in the rest of the book and will never come on the surface again. Connor, our hero, comes to save the damsel in distress, and the author makes a big production out of a little wound: the damsel swoons, passes out and suffers of hypothermia (all for a stupid dog bite on a calf, what a feat!). But our hero saves the day and in the meantime he realizes also that he's already halfway in love with this unconscious woman, with whom he has not even exchanged a word.

Here I was ready to throw the book away. I don't know why I didn't.

Nothing relevant happens between this episode and the final scenes.
There is no plot to speak about. Just a couple of uninteresting events that have been impossibly stretched to fill out pages: the introduction of Connor's friends and relatives, some interaction with the locals, the arrival in town of bad guy #2, some lore about werewolves here and there.
Boring, boring, boring.
Someone here said that “there's mystery in this book”: please, point it out to me, because I've found none.

Zoey is supposed to have psychic abilities, but they are lost in the emptiness of her cranium and don't play a foremost role in the story.
Her spoken pieces are mortifying in their stupidity. For the most part, they are along the lines of:
“What a cute puppy!”
“Oh, your house is gorgeous!”
“Let's pet some dog/cat/cow/moose/pig, they are so pretty!”
I have no further comments to make on this, it's too disheartening.

The author's habit of continuously referring to Connor as “the tall vet” is disturbing.
“The tall vet did this” or “the tall vet thought that”: is it just me or is this a truly horrific writing style?

Let's now get physical.
We have already established that Connor is tall (and he's a vet, a “tall vet”!), in case you've forgotten. Zoey has “russet hair”. Her hair is actually mentioned more times than her supposed psychic gifts. She has also “amber eyes”. You have to forgive me if I rant a bit about this, but I have a thing against authors that come up with absurd (but nonetheless trite) physical descriptions to make their characters appealing. So. This is amber:

amber

It's yellow. Have you ever seen eyes this color? If so, please give me a call, because I never did.

Let's get more physical.
The sex scenes lack in credibility. Oh, scratch that, they are just crap. Here's an example chosen at random:
She did cry out as he kissed her right leg, above and below the bandages, but it certainly wasn’t from pain. Eventually he lapped up the little droplet of moisture on her inner thigh, and the ones that had followed it. Closer, closer.… His hot mouth kissed its way over her cheeks, adding soft gentle bites. She was shaking, she couldn’t help it, and she was on the verge of begging when his big hands suddenly parted her and his hot wet tongue slicked over her in one long stroke from clit to tailbone.
The orgasm slammed into her with all the force of a tsunami [...]

I'm sorry honey, but that's not how it works. Some leg fondling and a lick are not going to make it, no matter how skilled you think you are.
If you don't give me a solid plot, at least give me some good sex scenes!
I feel like I got nothing for the money I've spent.

Don't be fooled by the cover and if you ever feel the urge to buy this book, just bang your head on something hard a couple of times, you'll save yourself a lot of further pain.

I don't have much to say, it was okay. I didn't even make one note while reading this. There was nothing new with characters that just weren't interesting enough to want more. I will not be continuing the series.

Changeling Moon is a good start to a new paranormal romance series. The author has a very tight story along with some great characters. The changeling is very well explained and has some different touches then most shape shifting stories, I very much enjoyed them. You get a suspenseful storyline with plenty of danger.

Now my reasoning for rating it a 3 was These two fall in love quick without to many compilations some may find this to true to believe, I know I did at times. Conner is very loving and at times he was too good to be true at least for me. The sex is nowhere near as hot as most paranormal romance books. Conner and Joey have plenty of sexual tension, but when it comes to the few sex scenes, well they are very abrupt and I didn’t feel the heat.

Overall I fell this is going to be a good start for a series. I do find at times I don’t really care so much for the first book in a series and as I read on they get better, I am hoping this will be the case. I will be heading on to the next book soon.

This is a wolfish series that I sincerely regret not having started earlier. Not only is Changeling Moon about werewolves (my fave!) but Dani Harper's writing is outstanding! The plot line unfurls seamlessly, the characters are endearing and the ending wraps things up so beautifully that I felt completely sated. Talk about the complete package! I know one thing for certain, Changeling Dream is not going to sit on my shelf for long. I will not make the same mistake twice!

Zoey and Connor are like, the cutest, most perfect for each other, couple. I felt instant chemistry between these two! Their relationship felt natural, believable. Zoey's emotional and quick-to-react while as Connor is steady and thoughtful. Together they make an awesome team! Oh, and did I mention? Dani likes her wolves a little bit naughty.

Harper's werewolves changelings are a welcome addition to the genre. I liked that lycanthropy is reversible. This was a first for me and it definitely changes the characters' attitude towards the "disease". On the flip side, I disliked how everyone's clothes stay intact when they regain their human form. The whole concept came off as more Sci-Fi than paranormal. I just think that there has to be one or two downsides to being a wolf otherwise everyone would do it!

All of the side characters (a.k.a the pack) are almost as delightful as Zoey and Connor. The only reason that they're not is because we don't know enough about them yet! I'm hoping that a few of the other (and equally as sexy) Macleod's will be front & center in future installments. One of the things that I like the most about werewolf fiction is the strong sense of family. Dani does an excellent job of making readers able to "feel the love" within the pack.

Changeling Moon is wild, warm and fuzzy; the key ingredients to werewolf fiction perfection! What a fab debut book by Canadian author turned Alaskan, Dani Harper, and a great start to a promising new series. I can't wait to drool over James Macleod in Changeling Dream!

I’ve always had a soft spot for shapeshifters. Unfortunately, in a genre overrun with a plethora of supernaturals, it’s becoming harder and harder to find a paranormal romance that stands out. I’m happy and relieved to say that “Changeling Moon” achieved that goal for me.

Zoey was a heroine that I fell in love with instantly. The scenes in the beginning of the book where she went up against a dangerous animal told me off that bat that this chick is no damsel in distress. She is capable of taking care of herself and she doesn’t wait for men to save her. Her dedication to her job as Editor was refreshing. Her self-imposed alienation from her family tugged at my heartstrings. See, she comes from a long line of psychics. Her own gift is precognition. But while her female relatives embraced their psychic abilities, Zoey wanted nothing to do with it, mostly because it made her feel helpless and like a freak. It was a pleasure watching her battle with and eventually come to terms with her innate ability. That’s not to say that Zoey was the best heroine ever. Her stubborn unacceptance of the Changelings annoyed the living hell out of me. Other than that, I thought she was great.

As for Connor, what wasn’t amazing about him? A veternarian werewolf shifter who loves his job, he was the complete package. Caring and sensitive. Physically and emotionally strong. Humorous and intelligent. Dedicated to his family and pack-who almost stole the show themselves. He had more patience with Zoey while she struggled with own internal battles that I probably would have. He made for such a great hero that I can’t think of anything bad to say about him.

I thought the plot line about the rogue Changeling was exceptional. There are two villians in this story and both have their own unique brand of heinous. I don’t want to say too much and spoil the story, but I think readers will be surprised at not only the outcome but the other secrets that are revealed.

It was a pleasure to read the first book in this very promising series by Dani Harper. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more about the rest of the Macleod clan as they find their own happily ever afters.

Original review posted on Layers of Thought.

A well written, intelligent paranormal novel with a very sexy thread. All set within a modern world, including a special kind of “werewolf” - a changeling.

About: When Zoey moves to the Canadian countryside to escape city life she is hoping to find peace and healing. As a reporter with a gift of psychic insight she was devastated at not being able to help the victims of the tragedies that she wrote about. However, the change she sought with this move to a small town turned out to have a bit more excitement than she planned.

As the story opens she inadvertently meets handsome and down to earth local veterinarian Connor McLeod, as he rescues her during an ice storm. She is precariously fighting off the attack of a very BIG wolf. Stranded on top of her funky truck, in her attempt to survive she is bitten; a sentence which could lead to a “change” at the next full moon - but not if Connor can help it.

Thoughts: I’m not a big romance reader; I am however exploring speculative fiction. So in an attempt to explore all bases including paranormal romance, I chose Changeling Moon. I am glad since I enjoyed it. Quite a lot actually. It’s a story that is not all “love, fluff, and dreamy stuff” – what I generally don’t like about some romance. There are some intense and horrific scenes, with light cursing and more than a few very sexy scenes – which I would define as erotic. So readers that are looking for a “clean read” should be aware, but in contrast and for my tastes its swearing and gore were not blatant, misplaced or overdone. The sex was interesting and creative versus silly, boring, or just plain hilarious – a big plus; as the latter is another peeve of mine.

The story has an interesting paranormal creature – the changeling; which according to the story are like werewolves. However, they are not constrained to having to turn “animal” at every full moon. They can change at will while still retaining their mental and human clarity, allowing them control in contrast to the classic werewolf. It’s an interesting combination which I am unfamiliar with as I have read very little about werewolves in the past.

Author Dani Harper is a reporter turned novelist, which is perhaps why her main character Zoey feel very realistic. This experience also adds clarity and truism to the book around the reporting done in the novel - which gives the story a bit of needed depth. It is clear that Changeling Moon has benefited from the author’s writing experience.

I can’t say one thing bad about this novel. It was great for an escape; in a genre where one can be assured that there will be a happy ending and which readers expect. The next in the series is now sitting on my nightstand for a needed break from some of the “heavier” novels I have recently read and will be reading soon. At 4 stars – it is an intelligent and entertaining story, recommend for anyone wanting a romantic, thrilling and sexy read.

I love a good shapeshifter romance. There’s something about a strong woman who can tame The Beast within the man she loves that gets me every time. CHANGELING MOON takes a slightly different approach. Veterinarian shapeshifter Connor Macleod doesn’t need any taming. He’s lived in the same small town as his family for generations, happy with his pack and his life. Zoey Tyler is the one on edge, hoping to start a new life away from her famous physic family as a newspaper editor. She doesn’t get a chance to try a normal life because shortly after arriving, she gets attacked by a crazy werewolf and Connor shows up to help her fend him off. But the rogue wolf wants more than just one bite.

The mythology in CHANGELING MOON has a few fun twists. Harper has appropriated the word Changeling (which I always associate with faeries) to describe her werewolves. Most Changelings inherit their ability to shift and remain autonomous, but if someone is bitten and changed, they can be controlled by their Sire. There are also other gifted individuals with various abilities, one in specific which I won’t spoil that has a very cool mythological connection.

I did have a couple issues with CHANGELING MOON. The dialogue between Connor and Zoey was heavy on the cheese and I did roll my eyes several times. That, more than anything else, made the romance feel rushed at first. I also thought the cover would make sense after I read the book but it doesn’t. You’d think with a necklace that bold it would have some kind of significance in the story, especially since it’s repeated on the cover of the next book in the series. Nope. No necklace at all.

Overall, this is a fast fun shifter romance with lots of small town charm and steamy scenes. The supporting cast in CHANGELING MOON is great, and even the two Macleod siblings who are only referenced by other characters grabbed my attention and I’m thrilled to learn that they will be the leads in the next two Changeling books. CHANGELING DREAM, releases on June 28th and will feature Connor’s widowed brother James, who has retreated to his wolf form for thirty years, finding a woman who makes him want to be a man again. The third book in the series, CHANGELING DAWN, will follow their sister Kenzie, when it releases in January 2012.

Wow what an awesome start to this series. I loved it. It was engaging and held my interest until the final word.
I enjoyed meeting all of the characters, they were warm and funny and Changelings...oh and let's not forget sexy alpha males...
Zoey is intelligent and not a push over. Connor is strong and sexy and loves Zoey. I liked the way their relationship developed and it didn't drag out to long.
The whole story moved at a confortable pace. I hung on every word and hated to put it down.
I'm starting Changeling Dream and I'm glad that the characters from this book are in the next one. I'm also glad to see book number three is in the works...
This is definitely a winning series. I so damn glad I just happened to pick up the book to check it out...beautiful cover caught my eye first then blurp in the back got my interest...Damn glad I found it.
I highly recommend it!!

Zoey Taylor has a secret, an ability that she wishes she never had. She moves to a small town away from the big city, running away from her fears in hopes of starting new and to discover herself. Zoey’s transition is smooth at first, obtaining a position as the new editor for the town’s paper. One night, after a cold and icey storm, she gets attacked by a wolf on her way to her car. It isn’t until Zoey faces the creature while fighting for her life on the roof of her car that she realizes this is no ordinary wolf. Out of nowhere, a man comes rushing out of the dark and saves her, moments after the wolf bites her leg.

As she tries to tell the town residents of the attack, no one seems to believe that she was attacked by a wolf, and insist it was just a dog. The only person who doesn’t deny the wolf attack, is the handsome man who saved her that night, Connor Macleod.

Zoey soon discover the reasons why the town’s residents want her to stay quiet about the incident. The town holds an old legend… Zoey doesn’t believe the legend at first, that is, until the next full moon.

Changeling Moon is a brilliant and captivating new paranormal romance series. Dani Harper does a fantastic job in bringing her characters to life through her detailed descriptions and use of relatable emotions. Connor is a caring and handsome veterinarian with special abilities, and who will do everything he can to protect Zoey from being affected by the wolf’s bite. Zoey is a strong, determined, and passionate woman who feels an instant connection to Connor. There is enormous amount of bottled up lust and chemistry between these two characters from the very start, however, their connection may very well be their downfall.

My favorite elements of Changeling Moon are the various abilities presented within the novel. I enjoyed Dani Harper’s description of the Changelings, how their abilities are inherited through generations, however, a regular individual can also become a changeling through a single bite. The method to reverse the transition once a person has been bitten is also intriguing. Changeling Moon is a refreshing take on the usual shapeshifting novels. The beautiful cover captures some elements within the novel that may not be obvious at first, and incorporated into the story very nicely.

This novel is the start of a wonderful series. I recommend this Changeling Moon to those who enjoy Paranormal Romance and shapeshifter tales.

5/5 – Must read! Highly Recommended!

In Changeling Moon, after being viciously attacked by a wolf, newspaper editor Zoey Tyler’s life changes drastically. Not only does Zoey find herself attracted to her rescuer, local veterinarian Connor Macleod, but now werewolf rumors are starting to spread. Zoey is unknowingly in danger, and Connor feels compelled to protect her at all costs, or face loosing Zoey when the full moon rises.

Werewolf and paranormal romance fans, Changeling Moon is a compelling new read that should not be missed. Author Dani Harper weaves a captivating story about ordinary people with extraordinary abilities. The setting is a small town in Canada, a close-knit community and plenty of open space. The reader is able to uncover the hidden secrets of this small town, along with Zoey, who has hidden secrets and abilities herself.

The characters are interesting and easy to relate to. Connor is the handsome, protective man, and Zoey is an independent, smart woman. Their chemistry and romance is sweet and believable. While they have instant attraction, it is not necessarily instant love.

The structure of this werewolf pack was done very well. It is nice to see a female alpha for a change. Also, Dani Harper does a great job of blending werewolf mythology, magic, psychic abilities, and science in Changeling Moon. Using the term Changelings for the werewolves was different, and quite agreeable.

There were not very many issues or problems in Changeling Moon. It is a promising start to a series, and laid groundwork for future storylines. Overall, Changeling Moon is a good read, and fans of paranormal romance, and werewolf stories will enjoy this novel. *I rated this 3.5 of 5 stars*

I have to admit I had no clue what to expect when I first picked up Changeling Moon. I had read excellent reviews and couldn’t wait to get started. This book has a few things that I just love. A shifter series centered around a family. A hot and sexy veterinarian alpha male. Who doesn’t love a shifter who loses sleep to help a puppy? And a strong heroine who comes across as tough and smart but not stupid and annoying. And that last one is a tough one to do in my book.

Connor is part of the local changeling pack in a small remote town. His family has been here for generations and there have been "stories" and "legends" about werewolves.

He dedicates all of his time to his work until one night he plays knight in shining armor to the latest town import, reporter Zoey Taylor. After he rescues her from a rogue werewolf attack he has to make sure he can prevent her from turning into a werewolf herself. If that means getting close to her, then he’s up for the challenge. The chemistry between Zoey and Connor was amazing. It was love AND lust at first sight.

Things get complicated when this rogue wants to take out Connor and Connor realizes Zoey is actually his mate. Connor leaves us hanging sometimes, but . . . Outside the house party by the back wall. . . Hot! Just saying!!!

This is a solid, romantic paranormal tale with just enough intrigue to keep you entertained and a cast of characters you will fall in love with. If you like paranormal romance, Dani Harper is a must read.

Oh this is a fun PNR. It has what most people want in their shifter PNRs. A smexy man... too good to be true, and a veterinarian with a huge heart to boot! A kick-ass female who has no problem staring down death with a glare. It is a mate for life book that makes most women who love it swoon (yes, I'm swooning!). However...

There is some action... and not just in the bedroom. There is an EVIL (oh SO evil) villain that I DARE you to like even a smidge. It also packs in a few surprises at the end. I think that is my only complaint. Zoey's surprises are the biggest and I kinda wished she would have found them out sooner so I could have had more of that. :) There is even a heartbreaking scene right before that discovery. I could yell at the author for that, but it did give more emotional punch to the scene, if I have to admit anything. *sigh*

I give this book 4 stars. I wouldn't mind being a member of their small town and meeting a single Macleod man... or two. ;) I recommend this book to readers of shifter PNR. I think you will enjoy it!

Not a bad changeling story considering it was free AND the plethora out there on the market right now.

Zoey Tyler moved to a smalltown in the Canadian mountains to get away from her psychic ability. Instead she found herself in the middle of a werewolf haven, bitten by a rabid rogue.

Saved by the town’s vet, Conner MacLeod, and barely able to admit her own supernatural power-however slight it seems to her- Conner knows she isn’t ready to hear the truth about the creature who bit her. But she’s more than just a simple psychic and no one will be prepared for what she really is, not even Conner who is a changeling wolf himself.

Chasing down the rogue brings a bigger revelation and the town of Dunvegan will never be the same- and neither will Conner’s pack.

I liked the story, and though the story is a true-mate one, found the romantic smexy bits to be a tad underwhelming. If you like changling stories though, I do rec it. Liked it better than some other’s I’ve read anyway.

I feel like this book is like so many others that I have read. I did like how Connor interacted with the animals, sort of wish that there was more of that. I also wish that there was more of the town, but with the ending can see why there wasn’t. I didn’t care for what was revealed with Zoey’s past. It came so late and wasn’t explained very well. I did like Connor’s brothers, they provided some great comic relief. At this point I am not sure if I will consider reading more in this series as while I was reading this book it was easy to put down and bland.

Zoey Tyler, editor of a small town local paper, is leaving a council meeting late on a bitter cold winter night when she is all of a sudden attacked by a huge wolf. The wolf manages to get a bite out of Zoey’s leg, but not one to give up, Zoey manages to climb to the top of her vehicle and fight off the wolf with her broken windshield wiper until town vet Connor Macleod comes to her rescue. As Connor brings Zoey back from shock and nurses her bite, he senses something different about her.

She only knows this is one fine specimen of a man. Turns out Connor is more than a fine specimen of a man, he’s also a changeling and knows that what attacked Zoey was no ordinary wolf, but a changeling as well. Connor discovers that Zoey will become a changeling herself upon the full moon and now he must find a way to not only help her through the change, but track down the rogue changeling that is causing havoc all over town. Together Zoey and Connor will face the challenge of their lives and discover whether love can defeat all evil.

Ms. Harper brings humor, heat and more than a little taste of evil to this tale of supernatural beings and their society. Zoey has secrets of her own and is a spunky woman who can hold her own amongst wolves, mean reporters and one hunky vet. Connor is a bit of a gentle giant, a vet that can’t stand to see an animal put down, so has a huge menagerie of pets on his farm. He has a quirky sense of humor and a body that just won’t quit. When Zoey and Connor get together sparks fly and there is always some good give and take between them.

There is a great group of secondary characters, members of Connor’s family and the local pack, that pull the story together and make it an interesting mix of paranormal and a picture of small town life. There is a great villain, Bernie Gervais. He’s the town drunk, a changeling and out for blood and to bring down the Macleod’s.

I enjoyed this book, it was a quick easy read and good escape. There was good chemistry between Zoey and Connor with enough give and take between them to keep you interested. Even though Zoey has a secret of her own and knows that things aren’t always as they seem, she doesn’t just immediately accept the existence of changelings. Her reactions are fun and poor Connor’s attempts to convince her are amusing. There is a good balance between the light hearted scenes and the serious scenes, so the reader doesn’t get bored. There is some violence, some of it pretty intense, but not too much to make one cringe. There are some pretty heated sex scenes. While not erotica by any means, they aren’t PG either. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books about sexy shape shifters, spunky women and sleazy villains.

Hmm... What to say about this book. It is like that wonderful, decadent dessert that you have been dying to have, and when you do, it is sooooo worth it. So I won this book from Bending the Spine blog (http://bendingthespine.blogspot.com/), and I must say that I completely think it is worth the read.

Werewolves as we know it are very popular in the paranormal fiction realm. And I loved them. Then I met the Changelings, and I love them so much better than werewolves. Connor, a vet and a changeling, lives his life as best he can within his pack. When he comes upon a human woman being attacked by a rogue changeling, he has no idea that he will be in for the ride of his life. Zoey Tyler is running from her family's "gifts", unsure how to live with her own gifts. What she doesn't know is that a new gift is well on its way, and only Connor can help her with it.

Honestly, this book had me hooked from the first page. Not only is there a romance going on, there is action (the final fight scene is masterful), and there are the secrets that each side holds. Connor holds the truth of what he is for a while, and Zoey hides the facts about her family and the gifts they have. When they come together and share their secrets, they seem to become stronger unit. One's weakness is counteracted by the other's strength. And when fight an evil that has gone insane, there is nothing better. And best yet, she adds a nice twist that leaves you very excited to learn, because hints keep coming up!

I love how Ms. Harper not only takes a common legend, like werewolves, and makes it her own. Then she does something I think is absolutely wonderful by adding in some Celtic mythology. Love some Celtic mythology. And it wasn't that she tried to copy it; Rather she turned into her own.
I am very much looking forward to continuing this series. I highly recommend it.

I haven't read a werewolf book for awhile so this was a nice book to bring me back into it. The plot wasn't contrived, I really liked the two main characters and the sex scenes were written well.

The main character Zoey is an editor for the local paper and just recently moved to town from a big city. She's trying to get away from her old life and her "gift" of a psychic ability. On the way out of work one day she is attacked by a large wolf. Only, it's not really a wolf but a changeling that's gone off the deep end. Connor Macelod (The image of the guy from The Highlander kept running through my head!) is a vet and also a changeling and he stumbles upon Zoey being attacked. He gives her a substance that will stop her from changing but decides he's going to keep an eye on her for a few days just because he's worried about her. Of course, his wolf goes a little crazy too and he just can't figure out why (insert "DUH" here). Connor finds himself consistently drawn to Zoey and vice versa and the more they are thrown together the more Connor begins to realize that Zoey isn't just a typical human and that she holds a special place in his heart.

While I do realize that the plot sounds like many other of the werewolf books out there, I liked the way the author presented the story. Everything wasn't thrown out in the beginning, but it developed naturally throughout. The writing also was well done enough that I felt a connection with the main characters and was rooting for them to figure everything out. There were a few slip ups here and there with some odd choices of villainous characters, but overall I liked the characterization and the plot lines.

I'll be reading the next book in the series, but hope that the next book has a different plot and isn't too similar to this one.

Zoey moved away from the big city and her family to get away from the supernatural, instead she ran head first into its arms.
After a long night at the paper she works for, Zoey finds herself stuck at work. The frost had come in and her car doors were frozen closed, then suddenly she was under attack by what appeared to be a very large rabid wolf. She was defending herself the best she could but it wasn't going to be enough against this animal. Then suddenly she was rescued by the most gorgeous man shed ever laid eyes on.
Being sensitive is a gift most changelings have, so when Connor Macloed felt something was wrong he instinctively knew to pull over, but didn't expect to see what he did. Half frozen, and bleeding a strong willed woman stood on the roof of her vehicle defending herself with a broken wiper blade against a wolf..Not just any wolf a changeling , Bernie Garvis.
She reminded him of the injured falcon he had help at his clinic, strong, stubborn and beautiful. Not only was he reacting to her his inner wolf was scratching at the surface to claim her.
Now Zoey has a rouge changeling trying to kill her, a tabloid reporter wanting a scoop about werewolves and a handsome vet who has just swept her off her feet, but seems to run away right when the moment gets too steamy. Then to top it all of something weird is going on with her body.
I thought that changeling moon was a good book. The story was fun and flowed well. The story kept you engaged the entire time. The chemistry between the main characters was played well. I felt over all the story was fun and entertaining but a bit average. I liked the story and will read the next ones; hopefully there is more once they come out.

Changeling Moon by Dani Harper

A paranormal romance werewolf book.

Main characters are veterinarian Changeling wolf Connor Macleod and human psychic editor Zoey Tyler. This story starts off with a a short prologue of a view from a Changeling wolf perspective of the wolf wanting out of the human body. Next we meet Zoey as she recently moved to Dunvegan for an editor job and gets attacked by a wolf while trying to get into her car in the freezing cold weather. She is saved from death by Dr. Connor Macleod who has far sight abilities and was on his way home from a birthing of a calf. Turns out that she was attacked by a rogue Changeling werewolf that happens to be a part of his pack. To stop her from becoming a Changeling wolf and to stop the rogue from changing again, he injects them both with silver. Meanwhile Zoey tries to convince herself she wasn't attacked by a wolf since people think that it's a little crazy and having to deal with little changes that she seems to be experiencing. Throw in Tad Helfren (Paranormal Investigations) who's looking into werewolves and believes she was attacked by one, werewolf stories through the history of the town, deaths, the silver that doesn't seem to be doing it's job, Connor who seems to be really interested in spending time with her, werwolves, and Zoey has a very busy time in her new town.

This book was really good. I'd probably give it a 4.5 out of 5 rating. You had action, romance, werewolves and much more. It's a book that will keep you turning the pages to find what happens to Zoey but you know the bad guy from the beginning which is different and made this story better then I expected.

Changeling Moon
3 Stars

The small town of Dunvegan, Canada is home to a werewolf pack living in harmony amongst unsuspecting humans. Unfortunately, a rogue puts their peaceful existence at risk when he attacks the new editor of the local paper, Zoey Tyler. Soon Zoey is involved in a relationship with her rescuer, Connor MacLeod, but there is more to the sexy vet than meets the eye and her life will never be the same again.

The setting, the romance and the werewolf lore all have potential, but each is missing a crucial element that would make this book something special.

While small towns are amongst my favorite settings, this one is decidedly lacking in atmosphere as none of the residents are fleshed out well. Each is a one-dimensional - the diner owner, the publisher, the mayor, the RCMP sergeant. None have any quirky or unique traits to make them more than a superficial stereotype.

Zoey and Connor's romance also falls flat as the fated-mates trope is unrealistic and their chemistry is virtually non-existent. They go through all of the motions, but the emotional attachment simply isn't there.

The plot revolving around a disgruntled rogue wolf attempting to out the pack starts out well as the villain is quite vile and his plans suitably nefarious. Unfortunately, the threads ultimately devolve as bad guy turns into a typical stalkerish creep and the climax and resolution are drawn out and unsatisfying.

In sum, Changeling Moon does not offer anything new to the vast number of wolf-shifter stories available and it is unlikely that I will continue with the series.

When I turned the last page of Changeling Moon I was so happy that it’s the first book in the series because I was desperate to know more about these characters. Anyone that knows me knows I love a good shifter romance read and that is just what Changeling Moon is.

Zoe has spent most of her adult life running from her paranormal past. She feels she has finally found a safe place for herself in a small Canadian town. This was all before Zoe was attacked and bitten by a wolf. Not just any wolf—a changeling after human blood. Thankfully for Zoe, Connor (the local vet) rescues her just as she is starting to lose the battle with the wolf. It doesn’t hurt that Conner is also a changeling. Of course Zoe doesn’t know that.

Zoe and Conner were so much fun to read about. I would catch myself smiling as I read their relationship grow. Conner was so high strung over Zoe that he could hardly get physical with her due to lack of control over his wolf. He would try to make a move on her then have to literally run off. And there was Zoe, frustrated and not understanding what was wrong with him. It was really quite funny.

Each author brings their own rules for their shifter world, or in this case changeling world. Harper does a wonderful job of opening Changeling Moon up and adding some unexpected twists that are all her own and I’m sure they will serve this series well. I am excited to see what will happen next in this changeling world.

Happy Reading,

Rebecca

Full review @ Mission to Read

Lately, I have been disappointed in adult books they just don’t seem to have enough flare. This one was a complete opposite of that! The action was intense, the men protective and strong, and Zoey was the most courageous female I’ve seen within fiction in a long time.

The plot was the perfect pace where we got to truly know the characters and fast enough that we never got bored. Zoey is running away from her paranormal past directly into a more intense paranormal future. She is full of spirit and doesn’t back down from a wolf attack or from the man that is her mate.

What a mate that is! Connor will stand his ground and protect her from everything including herself, but he is secure enough within himself that he is not in the least controlling. He is sexy through and through although if he’d gotten me all worked up and then fled I’d be just as bit of annoyed as Zoey was.

The rest of the pack is a family of supporting characters that I fell in love with right along side the main characters. The floppy eared puppy, the strong but small alpha that is Jessie, and the doctor that isn’t part of their world, but will still protect the pack.

I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Review copy provided by publisher

I really enjoyed this first in a new series by Dani Harper. And it was quite delightful for me that she set her story in the Canadian north. Technically well written, it crosses the line to truly enjoyable with well-developed characters and excellent interaction between Connor (a veterinarian) and Zoey (a reporter). With good pacing and a solid story line, this novel also has very natural dialogue. There’s nothing worse than reading a contemporary novel where the characters speak like they’ve just graduated from a Victorian boarding school. Harper has the talent to make conversations sound just like the ones you hear on the street every day, and believe you me, I sincerely appreciate that! I highly recommend this sexy romance and can’t wait to dive into book 2: Changeling Dream.

Changeling Moon by Dani Harper

This is my first book by this author, and it won't be the last. I was soooooo not expecting this. I had no idea Harper was such a good writer! I have been getting back into the whole werewolf thing lately, and this work is an excellent addition to the genre. The story is extremely well-written, with a tight, intriguing storyline. The characters were superb. There was just enough info about the werewolf pack and history to be interesting, but without the typical info dumps we sometimes get in these types of paranormal books. The pacing was spot-on, and I loved both the hero and heroine. Hot, sexy alpha werewolf.....sweet!

My least favourite trope, a heroine who is a reporter, although I liked her more than the hero. He dithered rather then come clean with her, and put her and his family at risk. It became something of a bodice ripper, with a weak Hero and a Mary Sue heroine, who just wouldn't listen, I won't, I won't! And I disliked how she's the 'Anita' of the shifter/changeling world. That was so OTT, not sure if I'll buy book 2.

This is a first time author for me and I have to say I will read whatever she writes. I loved Changeling Moon. I was able to get into the story right away and never felt like it moved slow. I loved Connor and his brothers. The suspense within the book keeps you coming back for more, but yet the author doesn't take away from the story of Connor and Zoey. I can't wait to read the next one.
