Solid way to reinforce picking things up and good illustrations.
Dahl phoned this one in, big time, though.
Other books in the series offer thoughtful techniques, deal with emotions, or provide helpful cues that can be worked into every day actions.
This one is a pretty straightforward 'hey pick stuff up' followed by several pages of picking stuff up, followed by a sight gag where the mom picks up the baby tiger - get it? You could argue that it's funny to adults, but like I don't think a one to two year old gets it and it isn't applicable to how they pick things up.
Also, I haven't read all the books in this series, but of the five that I have all of the baby characters are boys. Even that out, dude.
Thanks for writing a good series overall though and there is a helpful message here.
We discovered this self-promoting book (books the tiger picks up are others by the author.. cue eyeroll) when my son picked it out at the library. I was surprised by how appealing it is (very simple, for very young children) while modeling good behavior (a rarity!). My kids loved this in the 1-3 year old range.
this was a really short early readers book. it talked about picking up his own mess i think its usefull to little kids to help teach them that picking up their mess is fun and rewarding. the entire time he is picking up his toys he has a smile on his face and is happy
My kids and I love this series of Hello Genius books. Really cute pictures and simple text makes this a good read for infants. My two toddlers were entertained by the colors and pictures. I love that each story is entertaining, yet also teaches a lesson (in this case, tidying up after playing).
A book in a set that teaches early manners and courtesies in a cute way. We read these all one more time before gifting them to the new baby next door.
A book all about picking up your toys and stuff. There's a lot of these "teaching kids good behavior" books, and this one actually neither annoys me nor teaches things I find problematic, so YAAAAAY.
