Hinana's frank and open discussion with her mother is one I wish we saw more of in YA fiction. I also really like how we see both Hinana and Kaede's growth. This is a better series than it gets credit for.

While I'm still not fond of Ayase's possessiveness and Ah-chan's fucking REFUSAL to give up, I still really enjoyed this volume. I love how willing Ayase is to do whatever he can to maintain his and Hinana's relationship, but standing his ground and standing up for Hinana if someone insults her. I also fucking LOVE how aggressive Hinana can be and she's not afraid to confront someone even in a dangerous situation.
It was so moving seeing Hinana finally sit down and talk to her mom about the past and what she wants for the future. I almost cried, I love how strong she's become and how awesome her mom is. Even if it's not the greatest character arc, I'm so proud of how much she's grown and how strong she's become.
But that cliffhanger ending! Dammit, I have to wait so long for the final volume, I don't think my heart can take it! But I'll stick it out cuz this series is definitely worth the wait!

OKAY SO I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE TO WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR FOR VOLUME 12 IM-
A lot of things happened in this penultimate volume. Once again, the couple is faced with the reality that they both live in different worlds/social statuses, and of course this is where the main focus of this volume revolved around. I'm happy that Hinana isn't some boy-crazy girl who only depends on Ayase for everything. I'm glad to see her start to think about herself and really go for what she wants. Of course the last chapter ended in a semi-cliffhanger and I'm just DYING to find out how this all ends. So uhhh I guess, see y'all again next year? :(

Aufmachung
Ehrlich gesagt, hätte ich die Reihe wahrscheinlich nicht gekauft, bei Betrachtung des Covers und des Klappentextes.
Tatsächlich gefallen mir die S/W Illustrationen im Innern wesentlich besser. Irgendwie habe ich das Gefühl, dass er dort die Liebe zum Detail für die Charaktere so richtig hervorsticht. Auch die Chibi Zeichnungen sind unfassbar toll.
Protagonisten
Anfangs dachte ich wirklich, die beiden könnten nicht gegensätzlicher sein. Aber dieses anfängliche Bild macht es umso spannender.
Hinana ist sehr fleißig, lernt gern und ist unfassbar strukturiert. Jeder Tag beginnt exakt gleich. Sie ist klug und sieht sich in ihrer Freizeit gern allein Liebesfilme in einem kleinen Kino an.
Ayase hingegen ist ein gut aussehender Superstar, der in der Öffentlichkeit Inkognito bleiben muss. Er ist sehr selbstsicher, hat einen Hinterfetisch, doch scheint er Gentlemen zu sein.
Fazit:
Ich kann gar nicht glauben, dass dieser schon der vorletzte Band sein soll. Die Reihe bleibt weiterhin mein unangefochtener Liebling im Shojo Bereich. ich habe gelacht, geweint und ganz viel dazwischen.
Nach wie vor bin ich ein großer Fan der Ehrlichkeit, die zwischen den Charakteren herrscht. Auch die überraschen mich diese immer wieder aufs neue positiv. Außerdem blickt man hier in die Köpfe beider und weiß genau, was wer fühlt. Wie Emotionen transportiert werden, weiß Rin Mikimoto definitiv.
Wer ständiges Drama oder Rivalenkämpfe noch und nöcher sucht, der ist hier falsch. Und genau aus diesem Grund ist Kuss um Mitternacht etwas besonderes.
Ich gibt nichts, wirklich gar nichts, was ich an dieser Reihe aussetzen könnte. meiner Meinung nach ist sie rundum perfekt und ich wünschte von ganzem Herzen, dass es mehr Leserschaft findet.

I picked up the first of the series on kindle unlimited to check it out and ended up reading the entire series ending up staying late to finish. I just loved the idea for this one the celebrity and the high school girl just works. I love that they both grew so much over the course of the series. This is a quick fast paced sweet whirlwind romance. I'm going to need these for my collection. I was super sad to see the series end but I'm so glad that I got a happy ever after. It's a beautiful story with equally beautiful artwork.

Age gap romances where the age gap being socially unacceptable and problematic are acknowledged but also used as a plot device/hurdle to get over before the couple reaches a happy ending are no for me, dawg

Aw, the conversation Hinana had with her parents made me so teary... I’m glad that Hinana was able to speak her mind and resolve her internal conflict...
This volume didn’t have much romance but I can feel Kaede’s love for Hinana with the things he says. It warms my heart! That ending made me smile so much! The next volume is the last.... I can’t wait to see what happens to this lovely couple!

I continue to love the direction of this series. I was really hesitant initially with the first couple of volumes, but I am so glad I stuck it out. I'm interested to see how this comes to a resolution, as we are nearing the end of the series.

Il finale del volume precedente aveva preannunciato dei guai per i nostri protagonisti: e infatti per evitare problemi e strane accuse (ricordiamo che Hinana è una minorenne), Kaede deve prestarsi a sostenere finte voci di gossip, scendendo a patti con gente abbastanza squallida.
Qui è interessante la reazione di Hinana, che dimostra, a dispetto delle preoccupazioni, una grande maturità: dopo anni passati a nascondere i suoi sogni, la ragazza finalmente riesce ad aprirsi con i genitori adottivi (e dopo 11 volumi vediamo pure il padre) e a far luce sui suoi sentimenti, imparando a prendersi cura di se stessa e dei suoi desideri. Questo le permette di affrontare in maniera abbastanza serena tutta la situazione con Kaede. Sono molto belle le scene dedicate al confronto con sua madre, con le due che finalmente riescono a confidarsi - sia sulla questione del pianoforte, che della relazione con Kaede.
Direi che ormai non ci sono più dubbi sulla natura dei sentimenti di entrambi i protagonisti: e quindi, per non farci mancare niente, Kaede decide, in chiusura di volume, di sganciare LA fatidica domanda. Qui ci sarà da aspettare per l'uscita del numero 12, l'ultimo volume in cui ci verrà spiegato cosa ne sarà dei nostri personaggi.

In realtà, non c'è niente di nuovo. Il problema principale è sempre lo stesso: essere scoperti. E questa volta Kaede è stato costretto a scendere a patti per non finire nei guai. Però la storia è carina, come i disegni.
Finale shock! Sebbene mi sembri davvero esagerato. Ma, ehi, siamo in uno shoujo! Più che altro, il loro rapporto l'hanno vissuto a metà, anzi meno di metà visto che si vedevano di rado. Quindi già parte la proposta? Posso capire chi è a contatto tutti i giorni... vabbè!

Si vede che sto proprio litigando con Goodreads. É quasi un mese che gli ultimi due volumetti di Un bacio a mezzanotte aspettano di essere inseriti e recensiti.
E la serie è anche molto bella. Anzi, sta migliorando con il passare dei volumi. Erano anni che non mi capitava di dare quattro stelle al penultimo numero di uno shojo. Ma se le merita tutte.
Adoro come Hinana sia tornata a suonare il pianoforte. Aveva solo bisogno della spinta giusta. E Kaede è fantastico!

All the feels this volume! Hinana and her mom talk things out, which is really nice. I cried. Also, there's been such good character development overall in this series, and I'm so proud of how far Hinana and Kaede have come, on an individual as well a pair level. They're the best! They really push each other to be better, but avoid codependence. Healthy relationships are so nice! I'm glad that the last volume is coming out next week. I had good timing! 5 stars. Highly recommended.

Finde es gut, wie sehr sich Hinana in diesem Band weiterentwickelt. Sie ist mutiger, passionierter und sich sicher, was ihre Zukunft angeht. Auch die Kommunikation zwischen ihr und Ayase in dem Band ist super und ich bin schon ein wenig neidisch auf das vertrauen der beiden gegenüber einander. Wie sich dieser Manager von der anderen verhält, ist jedoch alles andere als cool und einfach nur hinterlistig. Gut, dass Ayase es klären konnte. Mal schaun, was die Zukunft für die beiden birgt.

Ich fand Kaede (und seine Vorliebe) anfangs etwas schräg, aber mit jedem Band mochte ich ihn lieber. In diesem Band fand ich seine Reaktion in einer Situation einfach nur richtig cool! Ansonsten frage ich mich was es mit dem Ende auf sich hat bzw. wie das in Band 12 weitergehen wird...

In attesa dell’arrivo del dodicesimo e ultimo volume, recensisco questo: ho notato una crescita nella storia; se nel primo volume ho odiato pressoché ogni pagina a causa della caratterizzazione dei personaggi, ho potuto notare come nell’arco dei successivi numeri (sino ad arrivare a questo) le cose si sono come un poco evolute; questo mi ha come dato l’impressione che è come se le varie questioni, ossessioni, problemi e desideri si siano equilibrate tra di loro.
È stata dunque una continuazione più piacevole, ecco anche il perché dell’aumento da 1 a 3 stelline.
Ho apprezzato il “capitolo” (in maniera retorica si intende) circa la storia della capsula del tempo e ciò che essa ha comportato;
Vedrò il finale, poi magari pubblicherò una ulteriore mini-recensione.
Ps. Il drama/film pubblicato su questa serie ha cambiato qualcosa della trama, in particolare modo la storia del sesto membro dei Funny bone, però tutto sommato è carino. Magari a qualcuno potrebbe interessare sapere ciò.

(3.25) Mince on est pile dans ce que j'apprécies moins dans ce genre d'histoire. On met des bâtons dans les roues de nos deux héros de la façon la plus classique et la plus fade qui soit et c'est bien dommage..
