292 books31 followersRyōichi Ikegami (池上遼一) is a manga artist. He was assistant to manga artist Shigeru Mizuki in 1966. In 2001, he won the Shogakukan Manga Award for general manga as the artist of Heat. He became a professor at Osaka University of Arts in 2005.
Ikegami has worked on several popular series, such as Mai, the Psychic Girl with writer Kazuya Kudo, Crying Freeman, with writer Kazuo Koike, as well as Sanctuary and Heat with writer Sho Fumimura. He also wrote and drew Spider-Man: The Manga, a manga version of Spider-Man and collaborated with Garon Tsuchiya for the manga BOX (BOX 暗い箱). His most recent work is Lord currently serialized in Big Comic Superior.

7 of 9 rather than if 12 for me.
This one is a bit more fantastical, because of the dream that swing voters are looking for a purpose. The fun is starting though since both the gringos and ruskies are showing up. Clinton appears as president Cliff and shakes Asamis hand. I doubt a US president has ever shaken an opposition candidates hand, but I may be wrong.
The downside of going clean for the Yakusa is also showing up. Thugs exists and always will, and how do you deal with them if you have to be clean? Tough times for Tokai who gets another bottle to the head (common Yakusa tactic it seems from this manga, probably because they are mostly unarmed) and cant do anything about it. But then Hojo shows up, tells him to cut loose and the Russians appear as the shadow influencers.
Intersting perspective on US, Japan and EU relations. China was not even on the map as they were starting to crawl out of the hole they had dug for themselves. One they seem intent on redigging with their current focus on party over economic freedom.
Last but not least Asami has issues. He is sick and hiding it. So will Tokai learn to love Vodka? Will Asami win and then live? Will Hojo push on with the grand design or return to head cracking? It is written and we will find out.

A lot of politicking this time around. It gets to be a bit much but luckily for the reader, Asami is just as interesting in his own way, clever and likable enough to carry the series while his pal Hojo remains comatose from an assassination attempt. Not a lot of action this time, but it sure feels like the calm before the storm...

It's getting a bit silly. I fear the US president showing up may be a shark jumping moment for Sanctuary, but god knows this beautiful art will keep me reading right up to the end ✌️
