You Can Change Your Relationship to Food Eating with Fierce Kindness is not a diet, but a way to revolutionize how you think about yourself and about food. Eating with fierce kindness and compassion toward yourself, instead of shame and self-blame, will empower you to change your relationship to food and see yourself in a whole new light. This book will guide you toward an understanding of why and how you are eating so you can successfully change your eating patterns. As you learn to reduce the stress and impulsivity that often drives emotional eating, you'll also practice new ways to savor food and finally nourish your body the way it deserves.
So far I love this book. I think it will be on my currently reading shelf for a long time. It is one of those books that I keep going back to. There are lots of exercises to help you explore your relationship with yourself and why food becomes a coping mechanism. It also explores ways to overcome overeating with mindfulness and kindness. This is not a book for people who are unwilling to to look into themselves. While reading this book I have found myself openly crying in public places. I find the author's writing style to be compassionate, friendly, non-judgemental, yet also truthful.
If you are willing to look deeply at yourself .... and your relationship with food .... this may be for you. Treating yourself with “fierce kindness” is where it starts ... there are no food plans or lists of good or bad foods. Instead you are asked to look deeply within with mindfulness and honesty. Love the ideas...
I must admit that I didn't finish this one. If you want a book that uses meditation to help you lose weight, this is your ticket. I am not wanting to spend that much time or that venue at this time, maybe I should have a more open mind.... it might actually work, who knows.
