A new cartoon collection from nationally syndicated "Sylvia" cartoonist Nicole Hollander, featuring inscrutable felines of impeccable taste. Cats who think too much, cats who plot dastardly deeds but get distracted, cats who hypnotize their owners, cats obsessed with food, food, food. A veritable kitty feast!
I am best known for writing and drawing the syndicated cartoon strip, SYLVIA, which appears daily and weekly in more than 30 newspapers across the country, including The Boston Globe, The Berkeley Daily Planet, Women’s e News Online and The Houston Chronicle (online). Sylvia strips appear on BadGirlChats as well. I am represented by the Tribune Media Services Syndicate.
I continue to write and draw Sylvia at Badgirlchats.com, a blog composed of original writing, comments and reactions to what's in the news.
I am currently teaching college courses at the Art Institute in graphic novel writing as well as storytelling and memoir workshops at Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, but I still love speaking at events and book readings.
Hilarious book full of comics about owning cats, and even a few about dogs! Super funny and most were SO appropriately true. I can't wait to read more by her.
This was not as funny as I had expected. There were some really good jokes, (mainly about the cats trying to look innocent when they had destroyed something, or when they were hypnotising their owners to bring them more food) but it was not consistently good.
Nichole Hollander produces another collection of the relationships between men, women, dogs and cats--one upping Thurber!--which is laugh-aloud funny if you know and love any of her topics. You really do have to have a soft spot for cats, though.
One word can explain this book. Hilarious, truly for one who's sad, especially the back: 'Did I hide your itty-bitty computer, the one with all your appointment on it? Maybe. Perhaps a bucket of chicken will jog my memory" SUPER FUNNY!!
Laughed out loud while reading every page! This book is recommended for anyone ever owned by cats. I especially loved the cats who hypnotize their owners and the bad dogs trying to lure unsuspecting people to the apartment.
I love cats. I love books about cats. Nicole Hollander's strip comics on cats are not only funny but apt depictions of a cat's behaviour. Pure simple joy to read.
...my cat IS fat...it has nothing to do with his bones - rather the amount of kibble he consumes in a day...and how stressed out he is by having a toddler in the household after living alone for 10 years...This is one of those books that's good for leaving in neutral territory - where people don't mind wasting time reading it....like the bathroom...
This a collection of cartoons from Nicole Hollander all about cats. Sarcastic, and sometimes really mean, this is not the book for everyone. But if you are owned by cats, you need to read this, because you will see yourself and, most definitely, your cats in this collection.
