NOPE, NOPE, NOPE

I'M DONE. THAT'S ALL FOLKS!

Somehow this volume got EVEN worse. *le sigh*

This is Shonen not Seiren right?...right? How is this geared towards teenager agers? Ok. Scratch that...maybe this is EXACTLY what teen boys want to read about: Boobs, boobs, some MORE boobs, panties, boobs, naked boobs, panties, and finally...EVEN MORE boobs.

Case in point... (btw, this is NSFW)


This was the most tame I could show, most of the other frames are even worse. It's an entirely pointless scene with the girls all naked in the bathroom. And by naked, I mean fully drawn naked. Yup, lots of cartoon boobs for everyone!

If this is what's in store for the rest of the series, I'm quitting now. STICK A FORK IN ME 'CAUSE I'M DONE. I can't take anymore of this ridiculousness. I came to read a story about teens surviving the zombie apocalypse, not some story about well endowed bimbos jiggling about.

The anime has some elements that are just not feasbile on the manga - like boobs mechanics, moving and such - although to be honest they move too much and in ways the boobs SHOULD NEVER move.

All manga was adapted to anime BUT the anime has more stuff. Again, good.

The more I think about this book, the more I hate it and think it's nothing more than pretentious straight male pandering. It feels like the authors just got drunk one night and said 'oh you can draw and I can (kinda) write, let's do a zombie manga'. Then the writer spent hours watching every zombie movie ever made and recreate that with high school students and perfect girls with large breasts. I hear you, this is a manga, that's how manga rolls. But why should it? It's 2011, and while I have nothing against using sex or shameless fanservice to sell your creation, I draw a limit of tolerance when it takes precedence over the plot (which might actually be pretty decent if the author actually tried to do it well. But no, instead you get 10 pages of girls comparing the size of their breasts by groping each other (seriously who does that?) and only 3 pages of a little girl loosing her father. Also, needs to stop ending each chapter by acknowledging that is was 'the end'. We got it. Once was enough.

I happily reported this to the library as being mistakenly categorized in the young adult section. And I'm 100% sure I was the first person to borrow them, they were brand new.

Hirano is great.

The ladies in the bathroom scene was completely unnecessary. Oh Japan... though I find it interesting, when the girls are topless, at least their giant boobs are slightly saggy and it's believable, but when they have their tops on, their breasts are drawn on so strangely they don't even look like boobs... it's weird.

Porównując tą część do poprzedniej części ta jest bardziej artystyczna w której to bohaterowie nastawieni są bardziej na ukazanie swoich własnych wnętrz w sposób występu typu teatralnego a całość ukazuje też dramat osób postronnych którzy nie mają wpływu na to co się z nimi stanie a mimo to ich los jest skazany na porażkę. A i są cycki i zombie.

The blood and gore continues to rain in the second installment of HOTD. After the gang makes an escape from the bus led by the tyrannical Shidou-sensei, they meet up and take refuge in one of Shizuka-sensei's friends' condo. That comes with a... military grade Hummer? Who exactly is Shizuka-sensei's friend and how long will the gang stay safe at their new sanctuary?

I'm a little biased, because I'm a horror fan, but this is a very enjoyable series for me. This book had more naked breasts in it than I was expecting (I expected none, to be honest), but it is a fun story with lots of gore. I hope to read more volumes.

Passend zum ersten Cover, präsentiert sich auch Band 2 mit einem der Charaktere der Gruppe, welche sich in diesem Manga durchs Leben schlagen müssen. Hier zu sehen ist Saeko, welche durch ihre Schwertkampftechnik schon so mach anderem Charakter das Leben gerettet hat. Auch wie auf dem ersten Cover ist dieser Charakter blutverschmiert und scheinbar zum Kampf gegen die Zombies bereit. Das hat Wiedererkennungswert, spricht mich persönlich aber so gar nicht an. Trotzdem erkennt man auch hier schnell, dass es sich um einen Manga handelt, in dem Zombies vorkommen und die Helden um ihr Überleben kämpfen müssen.

Eigener Eindruck:
Nachdem Rei und Takashi den Bus mit den Überlebenden der Schule und deren größenwahnsinnigen Direktor verlassen haben, müssen sich die beiden allein durch die zombieverseuchten Straßen schlagen. Als das Motorrad der beiden Benzin braucht und die beiden an einer Tankstelle anhalten, um nach Proviant und Kraftstoff zu suchen, wird Rei von einem Wahnsinnigen gefangen genommen. Takashi muss sich nun entscheiden, was er tut. Den Forderungen des Mannes nachkommen oder ihn an die Zombies ausliefern und damit ein Menschenleben auf dem Gewissen haben. Die Entscheidung fällt ihm sichtlich leicht und so machen sich Rei und Takashi weiter auf den Weg, um Hilfe und Sicherheit zu finden.
Währenddessen bemerken auch die restlichen Freunde der Gruppe, was ihr Direktor für ein wahnsinniges Schwein ist und steigen ebenfalls aus dem Bus aus. Es dauert nicht lange, bis die Gruppe wieder auf Rei und Takashi trifft, die sich sichtlich freuen die anderen zu sehen. Doch wohin? Frau Marikawa führt die Schüler zu der Wohnung einer Freundin, wo die Gruppe eine Weile verschnaufen kann. Doch nun müssen sie sich alle eine Frage stellen. Wie soll es weiter gehen? Was hoffen sie noch zu finden? Und wem kann man da draußen noch vertrauen?

Der zweite Teil der Zombie-Reihe "Highschool of the Dead" konnte mich eher weniger überzeugen. Werteverfall in einer Situation wo es keine Sitten und Regeln mehr gibt? Ja, sicher. Jedoch ist das, was hier geboten wird dann doch ein bisschen zu derb. Zumindest für meinen Geschmack. Denn plötzlich geht es nicht mehr nur um Zombies, sondern um jede Menge Brüste - angezogen, nicht angezogen. Eben genau das, was so der klassische Mangafreak scheinbar bevorzugt?! Dadurch, dass man hier immer wieder die Brüste der Mädels präsentiert bekommt (- ist eigentlich schon mal jemanden aufgefallen, dass die in Mangas immer unmöglich groß sind ... stell sich mal einer die Rückenschmerzen vor, die die Damen immer haben müssen...), kann man den Rest der Story irgendwie nicht mehr ernst nehmen, wobei das echt ein wichtiges Thema wäre. Zum einen wäre da der Wunsch zu überleben und anderen zu helfen. Zum anderen hätten wir auch noch den Werteverfall und was passiert, wenn Menschen scheinbar durchdrehen. Das ist eine ernst zu nehmende Thematik und hätte hier richtig spannend ausgebaut werden können, stattdessen wird über Oberweiten diskutiert... absolutes no go, zumindest für mich. Damit war der Manga für mich gestorben. Da helfen nicht mal mehr gute Zeichnungen oder eine halbwegs interessante Story. Aus. Ende. Vorbei. Das kann man einfach nicht mehr ernst nehmen. Man kann einfach nur noch mit den Augen rollen und mit dem Kopf schütteln. Echt schade.

Fazit:
Ehrlich gesagt ist die Reihe für mich gestorben, weil ich sie einfach nicht mehr ernst nehmen kann. Es ist alles vorhersehbar von der Grundstory her und der Rest ist einfach hohl. Von mir gibt es hier keine Leseempfehlung mehr.

The gang are reunited in a zombie-filled world.

Ugh - I get fan service, but this book has way too many boob moments for me. If it's the first day of a zombie apocalypse, you're not going to stand naked except for an apron and make food while your clothes are drying. If I didn't already have the third book from the library, this is where I'd stop. So hopefully less boobs for book 3.

This volume was more enjoyable than the first. The group is developing relationships, and it shows their realization that the police and military will not be helping them. Although I wouldn’t recommend this to young readers due to gore and nudity, it is a pretty solid series/volume.

The best parts were when they're attacked at the gas station and when they save the small girl. I'm not sure why Saeko was like "only takes hi can be the man and save us all". I felt it was out of character. They even mention how out of character Saeko was being.

Highschool of the Dead volume 2 contains chapters 4-7 and is a direct continuation of volume 1. It's best to start at the beginning.

"They" are on the lose and after a few short hours the world Takashi and Rei knew has been twisted into a horrifying struggle to survive. Out alone in the nightmarish landscape they must try to reunite with their friends, who themselves are facing the growing influence of a power hungry survivor and his unpleasant philosophies.

As I mentioned in my review of volume 1 I enjoyed it more than I expected to. Horror and zombie stories are not usually my cup of tea but something clicked here. There's a genuine feel to the emotions and viewpoints of the characters that makes the story quite engaging. It's rather unexpected and impressive for a series with a plot and action firmly rooted in the "over-the-top" category. But it adds nice layers to the impressive action sequences and tense atmosphere.

One of the biggest drawbacks of the series was the somewhat contrasting style elements. There is a heavy layer of fanservice over everything, both of the expected violence type and the more out of place ecchi elements.

All of the above is turned WAY up in this volume. There's some great internal questions and revelations as our cast comes to grips with what the world has become and the types of things that must be done to survive. It's handled very well and the pressure and fear they are under is conveyed perfectly. There are several story twists and changes to the status quo that all flow nicely.

And now we get to the fanservice, which is heavier than ever and tacked on several magnitudes more obviously. It's quite ridiculous (although admittedly beautifully drawn). The life and death zombie series essentially switches to a harem comedy for a chapter. Complete with a four page sequence of the girls bathing together and comparing their breast sizes. And a character that goes a couple of chapters, including fighting zombies, wearing only an apron. Etc.

I understand the need to break up the tension and I don't mind fanservice in general, but it's worth mentioning the excessiveness here and the contrast with the more dramatic parts of the manga. It shouldn't really work and I understand if it ruins the series for others. All that said it somewhat strangely didn't do so for me. The author's so good at reestablishing the mood and tension that I was never bothered by the previous page's absurdity.

The art is excellent, from character designs to easy to follow action to attention to detail. Once again, just be ready for the gore, nudity and over-endowed women it depicts.

So overall both the positives and negatives got cranked up in this volume and I'm left with pretty much the same impression as the first volume. From that review: " While it certainly could have been better Highschool of the Dead also could have been a lot worse and overall I liked this departure from my normal reading preferences. 'Not for everyone' would be the understatement of the year, but it's very good for what it is."

For me the good outweighs the less so and I will be continuing.

Meine Meinung:
Das Manga geht gleich dort weiter wo es aufhört.
Die Gruppe ist immer noch unterwegs und landen dann in einer Wohnung einer Freundin, dort können sie endlich etwas verschnaufen. Die Jungs finden dort Waffen und die Mädchen nehmen ein Bad .
Als die Jungs mitbekommen das ein Vater mit seiner Tochter auf der Flucht ist und Hilfe sucht und getötet wird spitzt sich die Lage zu , den das Mädchen muß gerettet werden. So macht sich Takashi ohne zu überlegen auf dem Weg um das Mädchen zu retten.

Spanneng geht es weiter mit der Gruppe die dann wieder zusammen findet.
Ich freue mich auf die anderen Teile und hoffe das noch die Eltern der anderen Kids leben.
Das Manga ist bei den Damen sehr Freizügig nichts für schwache nerven ;)

Pluspunkte:
- Geht gleich rasand weiter
- Freundschaft bilden sich hier.
