This is a pretty neat premise that suffers from poor focus. While this volume was more focused than the first, the plot and many subplots are hard to keep track of. Also, why is this series called Carthago? While this company is in the book, they are by no means the main character. Members of the organization only appeared in about 2 pages of this. Although I do have a feeling about how this will all tie together.

Well, the second is just as entertaining as the first. Cryptozoological adventures and a few clichés, but an enjoyable comic anyway.

Always there is that rich eccentric guy with Ahab complex, who always chase white whale. Or, in this case, cryptozoology cases around the world and long extinct species that it seems are not so extinct after all. Bec sure knows how to intrigue reader and drawing is top notch. A proper Hollywood blockbuster with 200+ million budget, only told through comic book panels.

This volume was more coherent than the first one, but not by much. I can't help but feel this premise deserves a better execution.

Picking up where the first book left off there is a lot more of the same although some story lines are almost immediately addressed there are others that a left hanging - I find it interesting how a book can feel that it is still at the start of the series and still feel like it is still finding its way - I think the best way to describe it would be that should the books be this small or should they have doubled up and had fewer installments and gone in to greater detail (I am sure there is a compendium edition out there that has utter destroyed my points).

That said I love the artwork - I am not the best in confined spaces so squeezing people in to deep sea diving submersibles always getting my adrenaline pumping and this book certainly knows how to exploit that.

One thing I didn't mention in my review of part 1, "Carthago" is the name of the fracking company in the story.

So we have a billionaire attempting to hide the megalodon so it doesn't interfere with profits, and in this volume we end up an obsessive billionaire collector who wants to capture one. They are both evil, and our protagonists end up caught in the middle. We also find out there are literal schools of megaladons roaming the oceans, as well as other prehistoric monsters. (There's a cool helicopter scene that's almost an homage to Jaws 2, just a little fancier.)

I'm enjoying this concept as it is something different, especially for the graphic novel medium.

See volume one for comments.

The art is very good in this episode, but the story telling is very choppy, jumping from one villain to another, and one historical vignette after another, without bringing any of the threads together. The storylines multiply, but nothing actually happens in this chapter. The imagery is spectacular but there’s nothing particularly original. A bit disappointing overall, but nevertheless very well done.

Just keeps getting better and better although there is a certain fantastic element now so any remote possibility of what-if is now gone. But if you're an all rounder geek like I am and can enjoy a ripping yarn, the second issue more than delivers.

I'm especially loving the technology aspect (the bathysphere!) and the art.

The time skips make sense now that you know to expect them and everything is relevant.

A scientist's daughter is kidnapped by a reclusive billionaire, to force her into joining a megalodon hunt. A big summer blockbuster of a comic that already had a lot going on before throwing a giant yeti, a secret undersea base and a dinosaur attacking a U-boat into the mix. The animals look spectacular throughout.

There is a sense of wonder in this series that is really hard to beat. While this was a slower volume it is building up to something I assume will be cool as heck

Good interesting story, personally not as good as the first volume but still an interesting read. Plenty going on and enough to keep me coming back

Carthago is like the quiche that is prepared with all the leftovers that you can find in the fridge, even those spoiled.
However, I must admit that it could be worse given the premises...
