From the moment my fangs began to drip with life spirit, I have known I wanted a mate. One to love. One to care for. A female that will be mine.
But as the moons pass by, the fates have denied me.
Until I see her.
She is different. She is human. And she is vulnerable. More vulnerable than I could have ever imagined.
But she is mine. Mine to cherish, mine to keep, and I will do everything in my power to let her know that the moment I laid my eyes on her, she became the reason I breathe.

This author is really good at making me have to put down my book and take a few deep breathes before I keep going, namely the book Arrival 🙈

This one wasn’t too bad, it was easier to read but it still made me uncomfortable to read about the parts where the h was crawling around. 🥺

The rest of the book was okay, I LOVED the H (I normally do, H who has been holding out hope on finding his mate and goes berserk if anyone hurts his mate, these aliens are my crack 🥰)

There’s a lot of repetitive inner monologues which I’m not a fan of and the story felt very short… not a lot happens 🤔

It was just okay.
. . . . .
The ending was HFN. The h has a spinal injury that makes her unable to use her legs. At the end of the story the H mentions getting her a mobility aid and equipping his house to better accommodate her with the mobility aid. AND mentions he’d also pay for surgery to fix her spine if she wanted.

Now I’m not sure what happened here, the mention of fixing her spine was glossed over, the h didn’t comment on that. I’m not sure if the author wanted to keep her the way she was because maybe they didn’t want any kick back from the FMC not choosing to stay disabled ? Maybe people would’ve complained about a quick fix, maybe people don’t want to read a book with disability rep only to have the disability removed by the end? But this is space and aliens and super technology, I refuse to believe that ANYONE wouldn’t immediately jump on the opportunity to heal any problems they have. 😤

The epilogue is not that far out, they’re still in space on the ship and the h has a wheelchair, they’re talking about babies.
. . . . . .

Qhenno groans, pulling me closer. He buries his face into my hair and kisses me there. “Your temperature has lowered.”
I nod. Who knew good cock was a cure for a fever?

My ratings always reflect my enjoyment of the story.

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this story, the 2nd in the Atari series, but I think the survival odds of a paraplegic heroine going through what Trudy went through were very idealistic, but, I suppose anything can happen in a fictional tale 🤷‍♀️

nice disability rep

This book was a rough beginning - which was to be expected given that Trudy had a SCI and no wheelchair while working in a mine. I loved that Qhenno froze up and couldn’t talk to her and their love story was very sweet.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: abuse/slavery, starvation

Craving His Mate is the second explosive sci-fi book in the Fated Mates of the Atari series by AG Wilde. What was a chance in a lifetime turned out to be anything but. Kidnapped and sold by vile creatures who take, no matter who you are. Creatures who torture, rape, and murder, no matter the consequences. It is a dark, high-stakes tale of romance, action, tension, and suspense. A series that should not be missed.

But hot on their heels are aliens hoping to stop them from exacting revenge. These new aliens are loyal, courageous, and will take on all looming threats that jeopardise their lives and those they swore to protect. These alpha heroes find something they thought would never be possible, and that is a connection with humans in the face of uncertainty and danger.

Qhenno and Trudy

Trudy is a human who has been put into alien slavery and is forced to work in a mine. Qhenno has an unexpected pull towards the planet Trudy is on and is shocked to realize it's because his fated mate is there. Thus starts Qhenno's goal to save his fated mate.

This was a gripping read! Please watch out for trigger warnings, because this one does get pretty dark.

TW: ableism, slavery, verbal and physical abuse, death, gore, starvation

REP: wheelchair user

TROPES: alien romance, fated mates, mating bite, disability rep, savior

Craving His Mate de A.G. Wilde serie Fated mates of the Atari libro 2

Argumento:

Esas escenas me daban impotencia y bronca.

This one starts rough as well. The FMC has a spinal injury and is forced to work in a mine without a wheelchair. The beginning of this is a bit hard to read with the FMC crawling around on her hands while the villains treat her like dirt. Luckily this doesn’t last to long as the MMC shows up to rescue her. He’s like a big ferocious guard dog ready to maim and kill anyone who hurts her. Sweet read minus the dark start, which I think is to be expected with books in this series.

slow burn but worth it

As wheelchair user myself I connected to Trudy my wheelchair is my lifeline I wish there were more romance books with physical disability representation the romance between them was so sweet almost made me cry a couple of times how quickly she was trust him and how he made her feel loved and not broken the connection these two have is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🥵🥵🥵🥵

Didn’t dedicate enough time to this character

The book felt rushed. The burn was slow and didn’t feel satisfying at all. Not only that but the hero has a curse??? That doesn’t make sense. This one was a no for me

This book got just a tad too corny for me at some parts. And I could not get over her name being Trudy, I don’t know why but it was just such a funny fmc name.

This second book in this series steps up the humiliation and violence, almost exclusively towards the female lead. Trudy suffered a spinal cord injury as a young girl and is confined to a wheel chair. The male lead is a knight in shining armor who pursues her because of the fated mate trope. The overall story has some action. The sex is pretty hot. But this story didn't connect with me.

Having a handicapped FL is awesome. There's little representation in romance. I found the trials of Trudy to be super implausible as well as uncomfortable.

In most scifi romances, FLs generally fall into two camps: enslaved workers or sex slaves. The extra humiliation of making Trudy a MINER is way over the top, and makes no sense even in a scifi setting. To add to that, she's also forced to be a WAITRESS and carry drinks while crawling on the floor of a bar. This scene was the cherry on the cake of a wretched plot point. I understand the author was trying to make a point. I'm saying it totally didn't work. None of this fit logically in a scifi plotline where female victims typically end up as workers or sex slaves. The humiliation aspect was too, too harsh and turned me off the story.

The male lead (ML) was standard. Protective, enthralled by the fated mate trope, hunky, devoted in the bedroom. He's 2-dimensional and not interesting. He's almost a carbon copy of the ML in the first book.

One last point. What is with the female lead's names? Trudy? Mona? Marion? Perfectly lovely names, if it's 1960. I have a ton of friends, and being in my 60s means I've known many women. I've lived all over the US and in parts of Europe. But I've never met a Trudy or a Mona. I met a Marion decades ago, who told me she was named after a grandmother. Why the very old-fashioned names? I've seen this use of names from 50+ years ago almost exclusively in scifi romance. Maybe it's a trope of some kind.

I'm not sure I want to continue the series. Using physically handicapped female leads is great. But I don't want to read about them in humiliating, degrading scenes. I don't understand whatever point the author is trying to make. It just doesn't work.

4&1\2 fabulous 🌟"s for Craving His Mate🔥 💖

This is the second book in the Atari warriors fated mates series and I have to say I'm loving it! This author's writes such amazing lead characters that have chemistry not only with each other but with secondary characters as well. If you've read the first book which I recommend you do. earth is over crowed and only certain people are considered worthy and desirable in society. When the Atari contacted Earth looking for brides the leaders found away to get rid of some of the people they felt were not worth the trouble. Promised the vacation of a life time many women boarded a space cruise .on that cruise they were hijacked and most were slaughtered. Only a few survived but were sold into slavery. Trudy, lost the use of her legs in an accident and her life has never been the same. She thouvht her luck had finally changed with the vacation space cruise utik is was raided and she was sokd into slavery. Now she doesnt know ifshe has the strength to keep fighting or is it time to give up. In this book Qhenno one of the Atari warriors gets a lead on a human woman and he tries to rescue her. When he sees the suffering she's endured but still holds strong and has a survivors fighting spirit his heart opens up to her and he can't believe how lucky he is. Now he just Has to convince his Trudy that she is the best thing that has ever happened to him and that he wants nothing more that to make her his mate for the rest of his life. This series is wonderful! the characters have chemistry and story is well written I can't wait for the next one!💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥

This series drew me in as each book features a heroine with a disability.

Trudy is a wheelchair user and has been sold to a Morangs mine to find gems. The owner and guards are cruel as they kill whoever does not find one gem by the end of each day. Conditions are terrible.

Qhenno has been longing for his fated mate and follows the pull to rescue Trudy when she is brought with other female slaves to the boss at a club. He is angry when he sees that she has to crawl to serve drinks. But outnumbered he agrees to fine gems with her but is working on escaping.

This felt high stakes because of the setting and them struggling to escape.

I loved how the hero was a cinnamon role and his goal was always to take care of the heroine. Trudy exhibits resilience in not giving up despite the accident which caused her to be unable to walk and then being put into a horrible situation.

The Atar have little females and so the males rarely find a mate and women are treasured. I love a fated mate trope where the hero is just willing to do anything to care for his lady. Initially, Trudy thinks she isn’t a suitable mate for him because of his limb difference but Qhenno reassured her quickly which I loved.

Tropes: fated mates

Representation:
- heroine has limb difference and used a wheelchair

Good

Qhenno and Trudy
This is book two in the series, and although it does stand alone from a romance standpoint, the story setup and explanation are a lot more in depth in the first book- which you will have ideally read before this one!

Captured by slavers and sold to a mining operation, Trudy’s lack of mobility in her limbs means she can’t run away, but she is determined not to give up.
When she meets Qhenno, one of the Atari, she doesn’t know that he is searching for lost humans to rescue them, nor that she is his fated mate!
Qhenno never thought he’d find his mate, but he is driven to find the humans, and ecstatic to discover that Trudy is his- now he just needs to get them both to safety!

The start of this book is a little dark, and perfectly illustrates Trudy’s reality and failing hope. Fortunately Qhenno lightens it up for both the reader, and for Trudy. He’s big, powerful, and stunned into silence (in a good way) around her. He’s the one thing that actually brings hope into that dark place, and his arrival is quick to lighten the story some.
The story is a quick read, filled with action and some romance, as well as providing a very intriguing lead-in for the next story in the series!

An enjoyable sci-fi romance for fans of the genre.

This books was perfect for me. I don’t have any complaints or anything, it just hits all the right spots.

Our leads are both interesting and likable. Trudy is a tough bitch but has a real soft side. She’s been made to be tough from the life she’s lived and you really get to know her well throughout the story. It’s so easy for me to enjoy a book when I love the FL and I really did love Trudy. Her disability was handled very well and believable in my opinion. The experiences she’s had in the love department are very similar to the experiences I’ve heard from other wheelchair users which I think makes this a very good source of representation.

Qhenno is a perfect ml! Determined and intelligent, capable and considerate of others, when he shows up he gets things done. You can seen a bit of roughness to him in the beginning, but Trudy quickly smooths out his edges. He’s described as having a stern expression a lot of the time, and that’s something I really appreciate in a ML. A grumpy look, glare, or scowl is just so attractive and especially when it melts away for his mate because he’s just so enraptured by her.

Perfect read for me. Perfect amount of action and the spice was so emotional and intense but also paced VERY well. I also really enjoy this author’s writing style.

I would love if eventually all of A G Wilde’s books got traditionally published with covers that don’t have male chests on them, because then I would feel much better in recommending these to friends! I am becoming an absolute Wilde stan, and I’ve never been into science fiction, or stories set in space, but HOLY MOLY Wilde is changing this for me all on her own.
I will be saying this for the entire series, but the disability representation is absolutely brilliant. It’s awful seeing what the characters go through, but their sheer tenacity always gets me.
I started getting into all of these sorts of books after reading Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians, and I absolutely adore the fated mate tropes these books share. There is something about characters finding each other across galaxies that is so fun that I can’t stop looking for more.
“Craving His Mate” brought the full emotional roller coaster. Between Trudy’s prior trauma in the first book, and what she had to endure throughout this one, I was on the edge of my seat with wide eyes. I will say I’m slightly concerned if that was what has happened in the second book, and there’s still two more books to go…
But I look forward to the ML’s all finding better lives somewhere other than Lower Earth.

fantastic world building

I loved reading about this little horrible sliver of space that Qhenno finds his mate help captive and allows himself to be taken to the mines with her in order to try and help her escape. It seemed so impossible the odds. But dang it becomes obvious that he was only there literally to figure out a safe way to get her out and that he is not actually captive himself. Definite touch her and die vibes. Literally. And I enjoyed Trudy so much more as well. She is vulnerable and feels unworthy but she shakes it off and grabs fate by the hands much more quickly than the previous book. I love this author. I’m working my way through her backlog and she balances romance with excellent plot and world building without me feeling dumped on by info. I do wish she spent a second more on MC characteristics so I could picture them a bit better but the vagueness allows me some freedom to imagine them myself too. This was a great book. Probably one of the top 5 of all her books I’ve read. Maybe top three and her books are vastly better than most sci-fi romance I read .

Ok

A medium dark fated mates sci-fi romance where the hero & heroine must overcome being trapped as slaves in a mine as well as personal insecurities before they can find their HEA. The heroine, 33-ish Trudy, had an accident when she was 16 that cost her the use of her legs, but she doesn't let that stop her. The hero, Atari warrior Qhenno, has been searching for his mate for a long time.

Overall I just found this one ... unmemorable. There is insta-lust, dark threatening scenarios, a heroine who won't let her disability stop her, and of course a hot warrior hero. What I mean is that there was nothing really wrong with the story or characters (relative to sci-fi romance standards). It's just that I didn't really connect with the characters or get drawn in to the story.

*****Spoiler Alert*****
This Book Includes
Violence.
Slavery including whipping murders and potential threat of rape, abuse of a diabled person, reference to witnessing domestic abuse of her mother, fighting with weapons & killing a number of bad guys with some gore, drowning.
Sex. MF sex, ridged cock.

The heroine has a disability. She was hit by a car and her legs do not work right. She uses a wheelchair but the aliens broke it so she has to crawl around everywhere.

The hero sees her and tries to rescue her. They both end up thrown in the mines together. He protects her and tells her she'll never have to dig out another gem. He does the work for both of them.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

The hero starts a riot and starts killing the aliens who own the mines and enslaved other aliens. So the other slaves rise up and start helping. He grabs the heroine and throws them both off of the platform. He knows there is a long way down and then water (to a river). They hold their breath but heroine almost dies. He does CPR.

They escape via the underground river and make it to his spaceship. He promises to take her to his planet but right now they are on the spaceship, looking for the other missing human women.

I could not be more in love with this story or couple. I had no idea who it was going to be about, I was introduced to this group by the Anthology Claimed Among the Stars and if every book was out, I would not be leaving a review, instead I would be binge reading lol. You start right in with what is going on right now and you get a little of the backstory throughout the book. I want my own Atari; he was sweet strong protective and caring with her! The other characters are mentioned, and you get a clue of who will be the next story, which was great and makes me more impatient than I already was for the next book, but this book is completely about this couple. She was so strong and independent. When there were strong feelings good and bad you really felt them, and I was rooting for them as a couple and each of them separately.

Overall this book was better developed than the first book, which felt a little rushy in comparison. Moving forward with this series, I think I'd like to see more detail in descriptions (character appearance, surroundings, etc). Aside from Trudy's disability, I think she has short hair but other than that, I have no idea what she looks like. Skin color, eye color, hair color? We don't get to know. This is something the author needs to work on. Aside from that, I loved that this book had character Depth! Depth was sorely lacking from the first book in this series but definitely hit its mark in this book. We got to see into what the characters were feeling and peel away the layers. This was done so well compared to the first book. Overall it went up a star in rating due to the improvements.

Somehow despite the amount of violence in this book, it was sweet. That’s the best way to describe it. Sweet. Qhenno is somehow this almost pure being who very simply wants his mate to be happy and safe and with him. Trudy is an awesome character who shows just how resilient people who have disabilities can be. In fact, I think she shows that in many cases, they are naturally more resilient because life has given them no other choice. I appreciated the way Qhenno supported her and made her realize that she was worthwhile and valued regardless of her legs. I applaud the author for taking this direction for the series.

Craving His Mate features Trudy, human and Qhenno, alien. Trudy is also from the doomed human cruise from book one, Trudy doesn’t have the use of her legs. When she is taken off the ship, she’s sold into a mining operation, where she must find gems daily. Qhenno is on a mission to rescue humans from the ship, not knowing that Trudy is his mate. Once he realizes, he’s beyond delighted and extremely eager to be the absolute best he can for her.

I really am enjoying this series, I started and finished this book in one go, when I should have been sleeping. I find the alien devotion so good and the women so strong.

I immediately started book three!

To the Depth of the Planet

Wow! I love how this writer gives the disabled a shot at a HEA. I should have known that Trudy was on of the survivors because of the first book. Qhenno goes into the bowels of a mining planet to rescue the human reported to be held there as a slave. Turns out she is the mate he’s been waiting for all his life and he will move heaven and hell to save her. Such a hunky, sexy gem! I love the world building and the characters. These Atari males are a force to be reckoned with!

This was a good book, but not as good as some of A. G. Wilde's other books, in my humble opinion. A. G. Wilde is actually one of my most favorite authors. I love her series, "Captured Earth!" This book is not on the same level at all. More like every other well-written book in this genre. Even so, I would read this before reading many of the others out there. I guess I'm saying that if you rate it beside books in the same genre by other authors, it's pretty good; but when placed beside other books by the same author, it's not as good.

Such a great story😃

I loved this book. The hardships that Trudy goes through, and still survived, made her strong. She was able to survive until her mate comes to claim her. When he finds her he can't believe she's his. He felt drawn to this place, but he didn't dare dream this was his lucky day. They still have to fight to survive, and escape, but it's A great ending.
