One man is getting in the way of her revenge…her mate.
Werewolf Marisol Cabrera has one goal in life: kill the man who murdered her entire pack. When she meets alpha werewolf Stephan and realizes he’s her mate, all her carefully laid plans dissipate in seconds. By all accounts, she should hate Stephan and everything he stands for. After all, he’s a dirty arms dealer doing business with her mortal enemy. Unfortunately, every time the dominating wolf gets close, she can’t deny her growing attraction for the last man in the world she expected to want.
But things aren’t what they seem…
Undercover DEA agent Stephan Lazos is about to make the biggest bust of his career, but everything that can go wrong, does. He never expected to discover his mate while on the job. She saves his life and his cover when he almost shifts in the middle of a crowded Miami nightclub, but that doesn’t mean he trusts her. The clock is ticking and if he doesn’t figure out what secrets the sexy she-wolf is keeping from him, he might not just lose his job, but his life in the process.
Savannah Stuart is the pseudonym of New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus. Under this name she writes slightly hotter romance than her mainstream books. Her stories still have a touch of intrigue, suspense, or the paranormal and the one thing she always includes is a happy ending. She lives in the South with her very own real life hero. In addition to writing (and reading of course!) she loves traveling with her husband.
Book 2 in the Miami Scorcher series is as action packed and exciting as I have come to expect from Katie Reus/Savannah Stuart’s writing. The fact I read it after book 4, shows that this series is easily read out of order, or as standalones. That said though, this one did end on a bit of a cliffy, which I am expecting to be resolved in the next book Power Unleashed.
Stephan Lazos is deep undercover trying to ingratiate himself into one of Miami’s known criminals inner circles, in the hopes of taking him and his operation down. What he wasn’t expecting was to meet his mate, whilst on the job. To say it puts him in a difficult position would be a bit of an understatement, especially when it becomes apparent that Marisol Cabrera is just as interested in his target, but for completely different and potentially life threatening reasons.
”You don’t know as much as you think you do.”
Alpha Wolf/Male and difficult Wolf/Woman all come together in one quick, sexy and energetic read. As with the other book I have read in the series the story moves at sprint pace, and the sexy times come thick and fast, this author is climbing up my very short list of author’s that Never Disappoint with each and every title of hers I read.
”No one fucks with the Lazos brothers.”

Marisol is out for revenge, she doesn´t care if this is a suicide mission, she´s going to kill the man responsible for her pack being killed. She never expected to find her mate as one of his closest associates. Stephan is almost done with his latest undercover mission when this gorgeous werewolf comes along, and turns out to be his mate. Can he resist the temptation, or will he risk everything for her? Shifters, action and smutty fluff in a great combo. Love this series! Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Between 3.5-4 stars. It was a good book, but something was missing for me. I liked the characters and I liked the plot, but I didn't feel the true connections between them all. Still a good read though.
A steamy, fast-paced, high-stakes paranormal shifter romance!
A year ago, she'd have opened her arms to him and bonded with him before falling in love. A year ago she'd been so secure in who she was and her place in the world, that she'd have known that the love would eventually come with the mating -that nature would work itself out. A year ago, she'd been stupid and naive.
WORTH THE RISK by Savannah Stuart is a steamy, fast-paced, high stakes paranormal shifter romance - and I loved it! There's just enough suspense added in to keep the reader glued to the pages. It's a relatively quick read at just 182 Pages, but it doesn't feel rushed at all and the characters and storyline are fully fleshed out. It can be enjoyed as a standalone, but there is a pseudo cliffhanger ending that will make you want to pick up the next installment next!
This was the story of two wolf-shifters: Marisol Cabrera and Stephan Lazos. Marisol is on a mission to take out the man who ruthlessly murdered her entire pack. She has tracked him to Miami and now just needs a little help from fate to give her the opportunity she needs. She doesn't have time now for discovering her mate, especially since he's obviously a dirty arms dealer in cahoots with her target!
Undercover DEA agent has painstakingly laid all the groundwork to decisively take down the biggest, most unscrupulous target of his career. This is most definitely not the time to have him finally locate his mate! However, his inner wolf strongly says otherwise. Little does he know that his mate has designs of her own!

This story is solid from start to finish with conflicts, passion, engaging characters and the perfect mix of a steamy romance and an adrenaline rush. Rest assured that the end result is a highly-satisfying HEA ending with a setup for future books. I highly recommend WORTH THE RISK to anyone who enjoys racy, suspenseful paranormal shifter romances!
I was really not paying attention when I picked this book up to read. First, I thought it was a romantic suspense- and it is, but it's also a shifter romance. Good thing I love those. But Secondly, this is book two in the series. Oys! I am so lucky that it worked out anyway, but yes I could tell that I was not reading the first book in a series. Haha!
This was an exciting blend of romantic suspense and paranormal with a wolf shifter doing undercover work for the DEA in Miami. His latest assignment leads him to an encounter with his fated mate. Only she wants nothing to do with him when she thinks he's in thick with a crook. But then events take a turn and the mission becomes more critical than ever meanwhile Stephan and Marisol hesitantly try to figure out their mate bond with so many secrets between them.
The story went by quickly with some excitement and passion that were par for the course. It ended on a solid note, but left things open for the next installment in the series to take over the story arc. I'll be going back for Nick's story and progressing along for the rest.

REVIEW Stephan is one of the Lazos' brothers and works for the DEA. While at a party as an undercover agent, what does he find? None other than his mate. And if that hasn't thrown him well knowing she is a she wolf and that she is some how messed up with the bad guy has. Marisol knows Stephan is her mate but right now she has one thing on her mind and she is not going to allow her feelings to get in the way. And now do they not only have to learn about each other but the Council is sending their enforcer regarding another issue that springs up in the story.
This is a short shifter story. Tons of hotness and a whole lot of action. Enjoyed this book in this really good series and can't wait to find out what happens in the next book.
I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review. Savannah Stuart
This is the second book in the Miami Scorcher series by Savannah Stuart (Katie Reus) and can be read as a stand-alone.
Werewolf shifter Marisol is driven by revenge. Her entire pack has been brutally slaughtered by drug lord Antonio Perez and she will do anything to find the man. When she finally does, Stephan Lazos, an undercover DEA agent close to busting Perez, gets into her way. The fact that Stephan turns out to be her mate deliciously complicates matters.
I really enjoyed reading about the shifter packs hidden in plain sight of human society. And I loved the chemistry between Marisol and Stephan - even at those times when they did not scorch the sheets ;)
Worth the risk is definitely worth the read. It’s a fast-paced, uber-sexy, suspenseful page-turner that had me looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

Worth The Risk is the second book in the Miami Scorcher series by Savannah Stuart (Katie Reus) and features the story of Stephan Lazos and Marisol Cabrera. This book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone
Werewolf shifter Marisol is determined to get revenge. Her entire pack has been brutally slaughtered by drug lord Antonio Perez and she will do anything to find the man.
Stephan owns a Miami nightclub and is an undercover DEA agent hot on the trail of the deadly drug dealer (human), Antonio Perez.
Marisol and Stephan are mates but when they are after the same person but for different reasons will they be able to overcome the odds to capture Antonio and find their HEA or will Marisol’s drive for revenge cost them more than they are willing to give.
Stephen knows how to treat his woman, “I told you I take care of what’s mine.” He sat on the edge of the bed and before she could guess what he meant to do, he reached between the juncture of her thighs and cleaned her." This series may be short novellas but they pack a punch with sexiness and entertainment.
Marisol and Stephan burn up the sheets quite well and if that's all you really want from a story then this is for you. I don't feel like it went too deep into a plot. Mates. Sex. Some quick revenge. Done.
I stumbled across this free Amazon read not realizing it was the second book in the series. As per usual for me reading a series out of order, thankfully this book can be read out of order or alone and I was able to fully enjoy the story without a clue as to happened in Book 1.
Stephan Lazos finds himself attracted to a woman who is everything that he is usually not attracted to in a woman...she's short, petite and curvy. When he spots her on the dance floor in a club, the chase is on for this wolf. Then he gets a sniff of her and his wolf is ready to burst free of the man when he realizes she is his mate.
Marisol Cabrera is on a mission and nothing or nobody is going to deter her from it. Or so she thinks. Enter scorching hot Stephan Lazos aka Stephan Vasquez who apparently works for the target of her obsession, Antonio Perez. Mate or not, Marisol won't let Stephan stand in her way. Marisol is alone with no pack and no family and no trust left.
Mercifully, things are not always as they appear and Stephan and Marisol are off on their way to their HEA. Marisol will get some vindication and retrieve a lost one. Lastly, Marisol has to face meeting the parents and the Lazos pack. A fun stand alone read with scorching love scenes and a bit of suspense.
Worth The Risk is the second book in the Miami Scorcher paranormal novella Series.
This is Stephan’s book who I really liked. He was an undercover DEA agent and in the middle of a huge investigation when he met Marisol. His wolf recognized her instantly as his mate, but Stephan had to play it cool or it would blow his cover.
I disliked Marisol when she was first introduced as the heroine, and sadly my feelings toward her never changed. She was after the man who killed her family when she met Stephan, and Marisol believed he worked for the criminal she was after. She wasn't happy to learn her mate was a dirty arms dealer.
Stephan was so gentle and sweet with Marisol. Even though he had a dangerous job to do, he still tried extremely hard to get to know Marisol and earn her trust. He came clean with her and told her about his job, yet she continued to keep secrets and was more concerned about lying to Stephan. When it came to a head, I felt she should have apologized or done more to prove to Stephan she was sorry for her deceit.
This books ends with a loose end and pushes us right into the next one in the series. Again there was a HFN ending for the main characters.
Strong woman determined to seek vengeance for the death of her pack, Marisol is surprised to find her destined mate, Stephan, while following the man responsible for the destruction. Worse, Stephan is an arms dealer making a deal with her enemy, Antonio Perez.
Stephan isn't all he seems and Marisol doesn't reveal her true plans either. But, in true shifter style, they're drawn to one another and cannot fight their physical attraction.
How does Marisol reconcile the fact that her destined mate is involved with the man who destroyed her pack? Is he all that he seems? What secrets is Marisol harboring?
Great story from a great author, regardless of the pen name she uses!
Stephen and Marisol have great chemistry and make this book well worth your time to read it. Savannah Stuart knows how to keep her readers hooked from page one.
This story was really well written with an interesting plot and characters that help to pull the reader into the story. There is also an excerpt at the end of this book for Unleashed Temptation.
Stephan is working an undercover case for the DEA when he ends up meeting his mate Marisol. Marisol is a lone wolf on the hunt for the person who killed her entire pack and she doesn’t know Stephan is a DEA agent and not bad guy.
Marisol and Stephan. Both pretending to be something they are not. Both chasing after the same man for different reasons. I enjoyed this instant mate recognition and the immediate protection of one's mate. Loved the struggle between the two. A must read.
DNF @ 49% The first book also struggled with lack of communication in favor of sex scenes, but at least the sex was hot. The second instalment had such boring sex scenes that I couldn’t finish it. I’m giving 2 stars because the writing wasn’t bad, just plain.
An exciting story from start to finish. If you like sexy love stories with a hint of drama, this whole series is your thing. Steady pace never boring . TWO THUMBS UP!
Readable but didn't grab me. I loved how this played out but the ending and the baddie was just too OTT. It also ends on not quite a cliffhanger but an unfinished note all the same.
Have to say I love Stephens character. Very hot, Alpha male. Hot scenes between Stephen and Marisol. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the series.
The book was good but I didn't love it. Maybe it's because the wolves in this book are different from the ones I am used to from the other Katie reus books. I also wasn't a big fan of the cliffhanger at the end of the book. The story is incomplete and I am not loving that

REVIEW: 3.5 stars--WORTH THE RISK is the second installment in Savannah Stuart’s (Katie Reus) adult, contemporary Miami Scorcher paranormal romance novella series. This is DEA agent/wolf shifter Stephan Lazos, and werewolf Marisol Cabrera’s storyline. WORTH THE RISK can be read as a stand alone; any important information from the previous storyline is imparted where necessary.
Told from dual third person points of view WORTH THE RISK focuses on an undercover operation by the DEA that follows Stephan Lazos as he comes face to face with his future. While undercover Stephan will be introduced to Marisol Cabrera and knows immediately that the petite werewolf is his mate. But Stephan is on assignment and doesn’t want to place Marisol in the direct line of fire. What Stephan doesn’t know is that Marisol is targeting the same man that Stephan and his fellow agents have worked months to set up but for a completely different set of reasons.
Marisol has been on the hunt for weeks searching for the people that destroyed her pack and her family but finding her mate was never high on the agenda until Stephan Lazos stands between her future and her past. Marisol must keep secret her reasons for her appearance in Miami; and Stephan must keep secret his true identity from the woman that calls to his inner beast.
WORTH THE RISK is a sexually aggressive storyline with the majority of the focus on the carnal/mating relationship between Marisol and Stephan. The $ex scenes are numerous, graphic and provocative but our couple have yet to express their love or desire for a happily ever after.
The secondary and supporting characters include Stephan’s brother Thomas, as well as their parents, and pack alpha. Stephan’s brother’s mate Carly (Unleashed Temptation #1) plays a supporting role as she prepares for Nick’s upcoming birthday. We are introduced to two new female shifters including Marisol’s sister Paz whose storyline will be told next in POWER UNLEASHED.
WORTH THE RISK will begin to focus on the treatment of shifters; the specieism faced by the supernatural powers in light of their discovery by the human population. The storyline ends on a cliffhanger when Marisol’s past has once again resurfaced threatening to destroy everything our heroine has finally found. A call will bring in the Council Enforcer in the hopes of uncovering the people responsible for targeting the supernatural races.
WORTH THE RISK is an enjoyable and entertaining storyline but I found myself zoning out with the copious amount of $ex and sexual scenarios-I felt the story and DEA investigation took a back seat to the $ex, and I started skipping and jumping forward. Katie Reus is one of my favorite authors and I have no issues with her style of story telling but WORTH THE RISK got caught up in the $ex between Marisol and Stephan. The characters are intelligent and engaging; the happily ever after has yet to be told.
