Again, the art for this series is truly outstanding, the story somewhat less so. I liked this better than "The Darkness: Ulitimate Compendium," but I still thought the stories could have been better. For an essentially super heroine, the Magdalena sure loses a lot. And I also lost the continuity of the story at times, although some of that is probably my unfamiliarity with reading graphic novels. All in all, though, I liked the characters better and thought the action was much better than in "The Darkness."

This is the exact same content as the two volumes titled Magdalena Origins but in one giant volume of disappointment.
I've already reviewed the other two, but here's a quick version: the art is overly sexualized (even for Top Cow), the plot is a mess, the religious background is used as an excuse to talk too much, and the writing is beyond poor. It does have a few good elements but they're drowned in a sea of poor executional choices.

Gorgeous artwork and an interesting, and sometimes even thoughts-provoking story (at least for someone who, like me, see a woman on the painting of the Last Supper). I was very pleased by this journey to the Top Cow universe and I can't wait to read more of their comics.
