For Kaylar’monushava’dresh, receiving coordinates to the human planet, Earth, was supposed to solve his most immediate problem of satisfying the council. They wanted a human female, and as an elite warrior he was to provide it—even if he did let his cousin’s female escape with her mate. His calculations for success were high. He even provided extra insurance for himself by picking up a biotech hatchling.

And… nothing goes to plan.

If being crashed on an island on Earth and surrounded by hideous amounts of water were not bad enough, E302, the hatchling that caused the crash, is growing rapidly to monstrous proportions and he is trapped with an alluring human who is rapidly making him forget his duty. Can they escape the island and E302 intact, and will he succumb to the greatest temptation of all—one he believed he would never have—a mate to call his own.

Over a year ago, Meg Hart escaped the Red Reaper camp but life at The City wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be. The division between the camp girls and the other women they arrived with at The City never seemed to let up. There was no forgetting her past, so she sought to escape it the only way that seemed reasonable—leave and join up with the one of the migratory bands that traveled along the coast. If only she could find them. Getting kidnapped by an alien wasn’t in the plans but its all good because she’s pretty sure that Terri sent him after her. It couldn’t be coincidence that they were the same species.

Now if only they could get off the island without being eaten, her future promises to be brighter, especially with the closeness she’s begun to feel toward Kaylar. Keeping positive isn’t so hard until his true intentions come to light. Finding a way forward from that is difficult enough but it suddenly becomes a lot more complicated when the island’s secrets come to light. She can’t help but wonder if she will get the second chance at life that she wanted. Or does the future have something far worse waiting for them?

I love the cover for this book, but boy does it give a wrong impression of what sort of FMC Meg is. She is not a badass mercenary chick like I was imagining.

If you can get past the writing

I usually like Sanders work but I had a lot of trouble with this mostly because it was so riddled with typos, missing words, wrong words, run on sentences, run on sentences while missing words, that it was just hard to get through. I had to re-read sentences and paragraphs to make sense of some of it. Finally, I just tried to trudge forward. I really liked the other Argurma series, though I cant remember if it had the same issues or not. I just felt like I might have enjoyed it more if someone had at least proofed it before it was published.

alien vs predator love…

4.3 / 5.0 but with a twist, because dying earthlings have a thing for all those techno-primitive hunks… this is the beginning of the second series of the Argurma stories, the first trilogy following Terri and her HEA. This book is a stand-alone but begins expanding the world these characters all live in.

There are ALOT of typos and editing mistakes in this. Sometimes the wrong word is used, words are repeated, or whole sentences are incomprehensible. There are places in the book that feel like roughed in outline draft writing and not even first manuscript quality. It makes it hard but luckily the action scenes (of all types) are fairly well proofed. There is considerable alien smut and references to past assaults in this, so please know your triggers.

The dialogue is also a little corny. The ML (Kaylar) has some introduction from the second book of the first series, but he doesn’t have much of a personality; he is mostly reactionary to other characters and his co-stars are also pretty bland. The FL (Megan) and a secondary female lead (Beverly) have more background and personality than Kaylar. This is a MF sci-fi romance and it does have some epilogues at the end introducing the next book which might be a RH?

I liked this story, especially that they were being hunted by a bio-tech enhanced creature on a tropical island. That was creepy and low-key suspenseful, like in the Jurassic Park movies when the velociraptors are stalking them through the jungle. I am glad that Sanders is continuing to write in this world with these aliens. I recommend this book but it relies on the first trilogy to understand what’s going on and who other (off screen) characters/events are.

Until Next Time

Meg was a brave FMC, in that she fought her fears and for herself. She took risks to find a better life and, after some serious trials, found one. Kaylar was intense, emotionally constipated, and brainwashed. He was good at slowly changing his stance and apologizing when he messed up. The setting was apocalyptic and dark and both of them had to learn to trust each other.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: violence, gore, dismemberment, drugging, kidnapping, starvation, dehydration, past SA and trafficking, crash, slut shaming (off page), apocalypse, corrupt government, involuntary medical experimentation (past, side character), hunting, cult-like programming, sexual repression, isolation, PTSD, nightmares involving hitting partner in a panic (they’re not injured), choking, animal attack

I enjoyed this. Not as much as the other series because nobody compares to Terri & Veral.

Meg had her issues that she had to work though. Kaylar always saw himself as dysfunctional. They supported each other and were pretty reasonable.

Amazing!

S.J. Sanders is an amazing author! One of my "I have to read this asap" authors. That being said I loved the MCs in this one. I loved that Kaylar wasn't stubborn to the point of ridiculous. Once he decided to woo his mate that was it. Meg was a beautiful soul. I'm so glad that she decided to shed her past. Even though it didn't work out how she thought, that one step led her to great things. I loved thier interactions. There was a miscommunication on who initiates mating but it resolves quickly. Kaylar was great. When he didn't understand Meg he asked her questions instead of assuming. I'm so happy they found eachother to heal.

So, I do not want to give away the plot because I want the reader to experience it like I did. Let's just say there are crashes, "monsters", and secret labs. Okay I will say one thing, the running through a secret maze, I visualize in my head and that got my pulse racing. One more thing the second epilouge, can we make it a trio. That will make me happy.

Anyways, I hope you love this book as much as I did and anticipate the next like I am.

So glad to see another book in this world!

I was so excited to see another book in this world come out with different yet familiar characters from the Salvage trilogy.

This book does not disappoint. Meg and Kaylar just fit together. Her struggles with herself and him coming to terms with his duties led to what he considered malfunctions...

Kaylar is a strong alpha male with cinnamon role qualities toward his mate.
We see Meg's fears and insecurities ne confronted and watch her grow.
I can not wait for the next story with hopefully Beverley, Zoreth, and hopefully the poor soul that has been traumatized.

Highly recommend it and can't wait to see where this series goes!

This Argurma warrior is FANtastic!
What a thrilling story! It was a delight to watch Kaylar ‘reason’ his behavior with Meg. He becomes more considerate of her as days go by. Megan is a feisty woman! Not a pushover anymore. I really love the way their relationship builds! It’s not a smooth path, by any means! There are dangerous beings threatening their well-being. How to survive? Oh, this is so exciting - I love it!

Lots of typos, but otherwise about the same as the previous series: big bad alien dude tries to fight against attraction, tough-ish human woman is in dire straights and needs a big tough alien to save her. He decides to risk it all for her … you know the deal. The story isn’t bad, just nothing fresh or new. I’ll still read the next book in the series.

Meg was the baby of her family. She was spoiled as much as she could be in the rough world where she grew up. When times got harder than she thought she could bear. she excepted the protection of a brute who shared her among his friends. Finally rescued, she found refuge in a dying city, where everyone knew what she had done to survive. She could not forget, she could not forgive, she could not scrub the stains away. So, in one last effort to shed the soft skin of the girl she had been, Meg cut off all of her hair, and left the safety of the city, to wander the deserts alone.

That’s where Kaylar found her. Sent by the governing body of his people to bring a human back for study, he figured since she was dying anyway, he was really doing her a favor by snatching her even though he disagreed with the experimentation and captivity perpetrated by his people, in an effort to save their species.

When they crash land on an island off the coast of California, they have time to get to know each other. They discover that they have a lot in common, that their species have a lot in common, namely, that in the name of survival, they will do whatever it takes.

Kaylar looks a lot like The Predator from that string of alien movies. Only he’s got one mandible instead of two, and a more human face… I supposed to makes him more palatable as a romance hero.

I really liked how Kaylar submitted to Meg in an effort to make her feel safe and in control. They both know that there was no way a little Christmas garland was holding them in place, but it was a fun game that didn’t hurt anyone and made Meg feel more relaxed in the situation. His devotion to her was sweet and his passion for her over the top sexy.

Looking at the cover, I almost didn't recognize Meg at first. We first met her in Broken Earth and, to be honest, she didn't leave much of an impression on me. I wasn't particularly keen to read a book with her as the main character, however we understand that several years have passed since her arrival in the city and that her personality has changed a lot since then. I think her character development was quite important and she became more interesting to follow.

In the middle of the book Dr. Beverly appears and the first impression is disastrous, which leads to the point of this review: I don't think the author does a good job of selling the other books in the chronicles. Most of the time, it piques my curiosity to continue the series to follow a secondary character's story, but in this case it's quite the opposite. For example, I wish the author hadn't pitted the women against each other, as this was clearly unnecessary for the plot and damaged the impression of Beverly, who now comes across as arrogant and bitchy. It's as if the author didn't want to write a sympathetic secondary character.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the power dynamic in this couple. More often than not, female main characters with abusive pasts are written as seeking dominant men to whom they submit '' sexually'', and the main difference btw past abusive partners and the present love interest being supposedly that the latter' s controlling behaviours are protective..bof..i ve always hated that. In all books, submissiveness is presented as '' a natural'' state for female mc, even those initially presented as dominant are later made to submit to the one guy they finally fall for etc it' s worst when they are survivors of abuse and are presented as submissive, coz it felt like they were groomed..so,for once, i m grateful that this character reacts more realistically when she finds a partner she trusts with her intimacy: she feels safe enough to ask for what she needs: control.

excited for the next one!

I wasn’t sure how I would like this book once I found out Meg was the fmc (a side character from the first book), but in all honesty, I was taken by surprise. I loved how S.J. Sanders built the heroine up so that she became a stronger person (mentally and physically) and not be so reliant on others for help, while still maintaining all our frailties and vulnerabilities without coming off too much on way or another.
Kaylar is pretty much neck-in-neck with Veral on popularity lol. Sanders really did great showing him growing from emotionless and cold (let’s face it, he was kind of a jerk, though he DID show Meg considerations, even in the beginning) to opening up and learning to allow for true feelings to grow with Meg.
I was VERY happy and impressed with this book, and am tooootally excited (and impatient) for the next one!

Awesome adventure

I love this series. It has it all. Scifi, action, romance, heat, and comedy. I can't wait for the next book. I really can't wait until it is released on audio. I love Veral and Terri's story and have read and listened to all of them. After meeting Kaylar in Pirates Gold, I wandered if we would find out what happened. And I just new Meg would get her happy ever after.

Chronicles of Argurma

Well I'm glad we are back here! This was a good start and continuation from the 1st books. I wasn't in love with Meg and wish we had a chance to see more moves of a warrior class Argurma, but overall the book was good and wrapped up with a hint of what's to come in the future. Thank you for sharing!

satisfying!

This one was so amazing. Love, loved it! The danger and discovery flipped the whole script. I was totally in shock. I can not wait to read the next book! This author is so creative and everything was so well thought out. I believe I've read almost everything she writes. She's a one click auto buy or borrow for me. I highly recommend this book and series.

Argurma warrior (the argurma chronicles book 1)

Meg and Kayla’s are a alien couple. Meg left the human city, where she was considered a fallen woman. Kayla rescued Meg from possible danger from other wild animals. I enjoyed reading their journey to a permanent and committed mating relationship.

Argurma Warrior

Meg, being a female, has had a cruel existence with her boyfriend deciding to share her with his buddies. Meg gets away but her history as a red reaper woman labelled her a whore. So she left the city and is captured by an alien. Kaylar is planning to take her to his planet for experimentation.

I like this!

I have read just about all of this authors books. I like the Argurma world best. I purchased them. I liked this book a lot. I didn't like the second epilogue. I'm not a fan of multi partner stories. That epilogue hinted at a threesome. Not my groove. That's why I gave it 4 stars. I will wait for more from this world.

Great romantic sci fi adventure

I admit I wasn't thrilled with Meg being the human in this story, but I grew to like and respect her. The worldbuilding is grim, and I don't normally read dystopic fiction, but I like the Argurma. The story is definitely thrilling. There is some graphic violence and sex, as well as implied torture of a non-human.

I liked the story, but I feel like the authors editor took a vacation? Or didn't read it properly? Because the number of simple grammar/editing mistakes was HIGH. The first 3 books in this world were good, and didn't seem to have any issues. So I am not sure what happened. I am invested enough to continue the series, but I really hope the next book gets some editing love.

Love it!

This is a bit of a wild ride! In a dystopian future, Meg had seen her friend go off with an alien. At the time, she was scared, but now she is the one with the alien! Really enjoyed this read.

I'm ready for the next book!!!

Cannot wait to see the monster Argurma Warrior and read his story. Though I'm disappointed he'll be sharing his mate. He deserves a mate he doesn't have to share. :(

I loved the Argurma salvage series so much. I've read it so many times. I was so excited to see this one! I would suggest reading the first series only because it gives more depth. I really hope there will be more

DNF I loved Veral and Terri's story, I was expecting this to be similar but it feels like a different world entirely. I also wasn't a fan of Meg in the other series so this immediately lost it's appeal for me when I realized this was her story.

Aliens vs Predators? But Better

I couldn't stop thinking about the movie and similarities between them and the Argurmas. The hot bodies definitely won out! Another kudos to Sanders for a wonderful job in this series.

Full of adventures - would read again.

This one got my heart racing from the action sequences! It’s a lot more go-go-go than some of Sanders other books but still spicy and fun. Alien-human miscommunications are my favorite.
