I learned about this book when I was doing an online search for heart-healthy slow cooker recipes. I borrowed it from the library to see whether it was a book I'd like to add to my own collection.
Unfortunately, I didn't have as much time to explore it as I'd have liked, but I did see a lot of recipes that sounded like they'd be enjoyable to both prepare and make.
There is an entire section of recipes that aren't actually made in the slow cooker, but that will be used in the slow cooker recipes: heart healthy substitutions for such items as barbecue sauce, cream of mushroom soup, and so on. Although that's a fantastic idea, it didn't appeal to me at the time, as we were in the midst of a heatwave.
I will definitely check this book out again as the cool weather approaches.
Take a selection of very ordinary slow-cooker recipes, substitute no/lo salt version of relevant things (e.g. tomato paste), add 'lean' before all meat cuts, and add implausibly rah-rah descriptions of how great it'll taste and how much your family will love this dish. Et voila, you have this book.
