The Final Book in Linda Joy Singleton's Popular Paranormal Series, The Seer
A whisper, too soft to swirl wispy candle smoke, carried across time, beyond life and death—and was heard. "Our bargain is sealed. My secrets will be yours-when the girl dies."
In the thrilling climax to The Seer series, Sabine's psychic abilities, sleuthing skills, and courage are pushed to a dangerous edge as she deals with the mysterious disappearance of her ex-boyfriend Josh, a new threat against her boyfriend Dominic, evil magicians (both living and dead)—and a coldblooded murder.
I started writing at 8 years old and when I speak to kids at schools or libraries I show them the stories I wrote as a child. I loved mystery series like Judy Bolton and Nancy Drew, and my DREAM was to write a series of my own. This happened when My Sister the Ghost was published by Avon books in 1994.
Since then I’ve been fortunate to write other series like The Seer, Dead Girl trilogy, Strange Encounters, Regeneration and Curious Cat Spy Club. I recently added a mini mystery to the Curious Cat Spy Club series titled Dog Rescue Time Warp which has a surprise ending.
I love hearing from fans and always write back. And I’ll send a spy activity packet to anyone that asks. Email link at www.LindaJoySingleton.com
Sabine's life seems too good to be true. She has an amazing boyfriend, her grandmother is feeling better, and she loves her friends. Then her ex-boyfriend's mother calls.
Josh is missing. Sabine goes over to Josh's house hoping to uncover a clue. Unfortunately, while searching for clues, she sees her half-sister, Jade, making out with Josh's best friend and her arch-nemesis. Angry, Sabine confronts Jade.
Later, when Jade calls her, Sabine refuses her calls and deletes the messages without listening to them. When her father calls with news of Jade's disappearance, she feels a little guilty. Sabine believes the two disappearances might be connected.
Furthermore, when a P.I. shows up looking for Dominic, her boyfriend's past comes back to haunt him. He's given his word he'll help find Josh, but he also doesn't want to go to jail. When Sabine finally worms the truth from his mysterious past out of him, she's devastated to hear him talk about leaving and starting over again.
When she finally hears from Jade, Jade has a plan to swap places. Will Jade's plan put Sabine into life-threatening danger?
Sabine's powers have grown since DON'T DIE, DRAGONFLY. She's more comfortable in her own skin and confident in herself. The last book in the THE SEER series wraps up the storyline with excitement, danger, murder, paranormal powers, and romance.
Magician's Muse was the perfect ending to a wonderful young adult series. Linda Joy Singleton has perfected the art of suspense, mystery and intrigue without the vulgarness of profanity and unnecessary sexual content. It is nice to read a series that I do not feel I have to censor for young adults when I make my recommendations to them. The best part is that the storyline is incredible without all of the unnecessary trappings other publishers deem essential. In this edition, Sabine has to take a leap of faith on so many things. It seems her half sister, Jade has betrayed her, her ex boyfriend is missing, one of her friends has stumbled on a murder and her current boyfriend is being sought out by a PI. While Sabine struggles to juggle all of these troubles her grandmother is off on a quest of her own. Grandma is considering merging her "love connection" business with a sexy competitor. The story line is clever and chocked full of magician history. It was the perfect ending!
In this final book in The Seer series, psychic Sabine is confronted with multifaceted mysterious and dangerous situations: her ex-boyfriend, Josh, has disappeared, her current boyfriend Dominic must face his dark past when a private investigator comes looking for him. When Sabine's half-sister, the annoying Jade, also disappears, most probably with a guy who has an evil aura, Sabine needs to go find her- into a situation that almost ends Sabine's life. Off in the wings is another major problem when Sabine's two best friends, cheerleader Penny-Love, and goth-girl Thorn team up in an unlikely alliance when they stumble across a murder victim. The characters are vibrantly alive; the author has an eye for detail and description that makes the reader feel part of the story. All mysteries are neatly tied up by book's end and this book is a fitting end to the series, although I think (and wish) that it could go on and on. Bravo Linda Joy Singleton!
As one of the lucky few to recieve an ARC of Magician's Muse. I have to say I am very pleased with the way Linda wrapped up the story it is a must read if you enjoy the Seer series. I will not post any spoilers since it doesn't come out until October. I will say that the book is awesome!!!!!!!!!! I love Sabine and all of the other characters in the books. So go out and buy this book when it comes out in October I highly recommend it :)
Im so sad and disappointed that this the final book to the Seer series. I really loved these books,although it's awesome that Singleton is writing a series on Thorn. Thumbs up for Thorn. Loves for the Seer. {^_^}
Love Linda's writing! She's the queen of series writing! I love, love how effortlessly she weaves in backstory from her other books without overwhelming the reader. That takes a real talent!
Bien sûr qu'on y croit.....

I read these books in Jr. High, one day I was thinking about them and decided to get the first book. I could not for the life of me, remember the authors name. After a quick Google search I came across it and ordered the first book online, dirt cheap if I might add. I thought these books were so great in middle school, only the first four I remember the last two are hazy at best. I didn't enjoy reading these as much as I used to. This one is definitely the worst one in the series. I'm sure the publisher wanted her to do six books. This one felt forced. My opinion is you can pretend this one isn't part of the series, it's not needed.
Pretty good series! Sabine really grew on me and I could not put this book down. I read through this pretty quickly and was interested to see what happened next. I am kind of disappointed in the ending. I feel like it worked up so long and then ended so quickly. Overall decent series and would recommend!
It was soo good But I wished Dominic and her friends would have been in it more although I see why. I am angry that at the end for the 12 predictions that Dominic and Sabien's future weren' t there. Like what happened after did they stay together did they break up did they have children?
I finally finished this series. I really found it lackluster. I feel like this whole book was unnecessary as I didn't care about Josh or whether he lived or died.
Magicians Muse is the sixth and final book in The Seer series. In the final book of the series, Sabine and Dominic’s relationship is in critical condition after a private detective shows up looking for Dominic. He wants to question Dominic about his uncle who Dominic has claimed he had murdered in a form of self-defense. Dominic first goes into hiding, but then soon decides he can’t and won’t burden Sabine and Nona with his problems or his past and decides to something Sabine had feared. He turns himself in and shuts off all contact with her, which I found a bit selfish.
Sabine is also dealing with the disappearance of her ex-boyfriend Josh. His mother calls on Sabine wanting her help. During her visit to Josh’s house, Sabine finds a fake wand with a strange vision of a blonde woman. She feels there must be something to it and absentmindedly puts it her pocket when she peers out Josh’s window and sees her half-sister exiting her enemy, Evans, house. Sabine races outside confronting her sister and having a big blow out with her and Evan who blames Josh’s leaving on Sabine. After many ignored calls and messages from Jade, Sabine gets a call from her father saying that Jade has gone missing. Sabine can’t believe it. She goes back and reads the messages she ignored from Jade to find out she was having a meeting with Grey, the same guy Josh was seen leaving his house with when he had gone missing, and the same Grey that vandalized Velvets store, Trick and Treats.
To top it all off, Sabine was a part of a forced tag-a-long ride to Jacques (Penny-Love's ex) apartment. Penny-Love and Thorn decided she was needed on the trip to keep them from killing each other. Sabine isn’t very happy and refuses to take part in their spy game and stays in the car while Thorn does her “find” magic and locates Jacques apartment so Penny-Love can proclaim her love for him. Things take a turn for the worse when Thorn is running back to the car literally dragging a comatose bloody Penny-Love back to the car and speeding away in a severe panic.
The only beef I have with this book is there is not enough Dominic and Sabine lovin going on. We wait all this time for them to get together and then you separate them for a good amount of the book to where we don’t get to see them together but for a short period of time. Yes they are together in the end, but I wanted to see more. It was a little disappointing.
There was never a dull moment in this book or any of the others before it. I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I am sad to see it end.

I loved this series from the beginning, and with each book it just got better and better. And sadly, this is the end of Sabine, Dominic, Thorn, Manny, and all the other character's I've grown to love.
Sabine's life seems to be going perfect. She has a great boyfriend, loyal friends, and ghosts and spirits aren't bothering her anymore. But then life goes down again when her ex-boyfriend, Josh, is missing. Even though she shouldn't really care what's going on with his personal life, Sabine still cares for him as a friend and feels she owes it to him to rescue him from whatever trouble (that is, if he is in trouble) he's in and get him back home. Also, so his dog Horse will be happy and eat again. Which, is also the only reason why Dominic decides to help.
Things turn out to be much more dangerous than what Sabine expected as she finds out her sister is involved, and her own life may be at risk. She's pulled into the deep, dark world of magicians, where they may not be as harmless as they actually seem. Plus, they hate psychics. Just like her.
These aren't the only issues. Along with Sabine's, Thorn and Penny Love seem to be dealing with a murder of their own. And Dominic is being hunted down by an official, possibly for the murder of his own uncle six years ago.
Twisting and turning with mystery, adventure, and the dark elements, you just can't put this one down! I love Singleton's writing. She just captures the teen personality so well. Sabine is a great female character. She's smart, friendly, funny (especially with Manny, he's great too), and very brave and loyal. Thorn remains my favorite character of all time. I'm so excited that she's getting her own series soon! She'll make a great main character. And, of course, there's Dominic. Every time he talks to Sabine, it just sends shivers down my spine. He's usually a man of few words, but when he's talking to Sabine, he's open about his love to her. It's so sweet.
Linda Joy Singleton is truly a skillful YA series writer. The stories themselves are pretty short, so you could probably finish one in a couple of hours. If you haven't yet, start this series now!
Linda Joy Singleton was kind enough to offer copies of her newest book, Magician's Muse, to young adult librarians on the YALSA-BK listserv, and I was one of the lucky recipients.
Magician's Muse is about a young woman who is a seer--she can see things that are going to happen, but was persecuted for it at her previous high school. Since then, Sabine has been living with equally talented grandmother, who welcomes and acknowledges Sabine's gifts. In this book, Sabine sees her ex-boyfriend, a magician, being held prisoner at a remote location, surrounded by men in formal attire, including capes. Despite warnings and concerns of her current boyfriend and friends, she goes off to investigate and see if she can help him. The muse part of the title and plot are about a failed woman magician from the past who claims to be helping a woman magician in the present become part of the magician's world, which in this book, belongs to men. Sabine has to go up against evil magicians and an angry ghost in order to set things right.
When Ms. Singleton sent me her book for review, she didn't know I was the kind of person who would feel I needed to read the previous 5 in this series. I wasn't sure either, but I read the first in the series, Don't Die Dragonfly, and was hooked--I had to read all of them to read Magician's Muse. The Seer is one of the best young adult series I've read in a long time, and with its tight story arc and sequence, I am so glad I didn't have to wait six months to a year between each book! I loved the characters, especially those who become close to Sabine and support her. And the stories kept me turning the pages in each book.
Not only do I recommend Magician's Muse, the final chapter of this series, but I recommend the whole Seer series! Enjoy!
The Seer series is: 1) Don't Die Dragonfly, 2) Last Dance, 3) Witch Ball, 4) Sword Play, 5) Fatal Charm and 6) Magician's Muse.
In the final book of the series, Christmas is approaching, and at first, everything seems great for Sabine. Nona is better, things are wonderful with Dominic, and school is going fine. And then she gets a call from her ex-boyfriend Josh's mom, who says Josh is missing and his dog refuses to eat. Sabine and Dominic go to try and help--Dominic with the dog and Sabine to see if she can find a clue to where Josh is. But what she discovers is her half-sister and her arch nemesis, Evan are dating. And Evan blames Josh's disappearance on her, and tells her if she doesn't find him by Christmas, he'll tell the whole school her secret about being a psychic. Even though she doesn't regret not being with Josh anymore, she is worried about him and Dominic decides to help find him. Except that a private investigator shows up asking questions about Dominic and his somewhat sketchy past, after living with an abusive uncle. So Dominic goes into hiding for a while before deciding to turn himself in and face whatever consequences there may be. So Sabine, though heartbroken, turns to Thorn to help find Josh using her special gifts. And she finds out from her dad that Jade is also missing. Did Jade go after Josh? Why? And meanwhile, the unlikely combination of Thorn and Penny-Love team up to find out information on Penny-Love's ex-boyfriend--and discover him murdered! So they're out of the picture for a while investigating this crime, and Sabine gets a mysterious call from Jade and goes after her and Josh, who are in a remote magician's compound with Josh's mentor and others, including someone very evil. Will everyone escape? Will Dominic clear his name? Will Thorn and Penny-Love find out what happened to the murdered man or get blamed for the crime? Tune in to find out! :-)
I thought this was a good, fast-paced and interesting end to the series. Presumptions of various characters get overturned as unlikely folks work together to solve mysteries and to help each other. And, of course, I like that it has a happy ending.

This is the conclusion to Sabine's journey to accepting her psychic powers. It is hard to believe that all of the turmoil that happened over the last 6 books had occurred within less than six months.
Things I enjoyed: The continued fast pace of Singleton's writing without feeling rushed. Wrapping up of almost all the lose ends.
Things that I missed/didn't enjoy so much: The extra mystery that Thorn and Penny-Love seek out. The rivalry between Sabine and Evan being unsettled.
Overall there were strengths and weaknesses provided in the story. Characters faded in and out of this book and didn't really help drive the story forward. The relationships built through the series though stood out and proved that Sabine is well loved and will have many happy times in her future.
The book had a good ending for the series. The last book fit well with the others. It was a decent story, all of the plot threads were closed and it had a happy ending.
I did think the main character, Sabine, got off a bit too easily in The Magicians Muse. With a flick of a magic wand her problem is solved...literally. There is no life threatening fight or brave rescue. I felt it was another one of those book where everything went conveniently smooth for the main character. I guesses the ending for Dominic right away, but I did like Josh's story.
I've enjoyed the series up to this point, and the plot is still engaging - but the main character (Sabine) is just so unrealistically slow (that means stupid), it's getting on my nerves. Sabine seems to be contradicting herself, almost as if the author doesn't remember what she wrote in earlier novels. As people change, I guess I can let her get away with that. Sometimes, I also feel like some sub stories reached very convenient endings. Hence my low rating of this particular novel of the series.
I'm not sure if my taste has changed since I read the first 5 books in this series...but I was very disappointed with this one. It took me a while to get into it. The Magician's Muse just didn't feel like a long-awaited chapter of The Seer series. I still would recommend the other series books however.
I like the way this series ended, but wish the ending hadn't been so rushed. 20 pages before the end of the book I started thinking that maybe I was wrong about this being the last one in the series because so much was unresolved. It ended up all being resolved, but I could have done with a more lengthy denouement.
WOW! What a great book to finish out the series! There was so much action and things going, I just loved it. I could not put this book down. I love it when a book has many twists and turn but everything works itself out in the end. I loved this series and this was probably my favorite book of the series. I really enjoyed the way it ended!
last time i had touched this series, i had just finished 7th grade... i missed this series so much. i forgot how amazingly fantastic it was, blended with all these other wonderful elements that i'll never stop obsessing over. thank you for making the ending to such a fabulous series all that i wanted and more. eeeek >u<
